A Couple of minor corrections here
* I Misspoke and kept referring to the Upward compression part of the compressor as an expander! The effect is correctly described but it is called Upward compression not expansion! Expansion increases dyanmic range, Upward Compression definitely does not lol. Ill go into more detail on this when i cover some of the effects more in depth! but until then i f you want to learn more about upward compression there is a great video by the legendary Dan Worrel that explains it really well: ua-cam.com/video/8z4X8WZv33s/v-deo.html
*I forgot to mention you can Re-order the FX by dragging the mini module on the left side wherever in the chain you want it!
I knew I’d forget something small but important 😂
That being said I am planning to do a video just on creative uses of the FX soon! So I’ll be going into a whole lot of cool uses for them / interesting ways of stacking them together
Also if anyone has anything they’d like to add to what I’ve said in the video please reply to this pinned post so people can see your tips 😃
This guide is awesome, thanks for being so thorough. Are there pros and cons of using the effects within vital vs applying equivalent effects in the daw?
At least for a beginner like myself who can't hear much difference between different plugins for the same effect, like the countless compression plugins.
One of the rare movies where no one will complain if they keep making sequels! *_(hint hint)_* 😃👍
This will be an on going series! So I’m open to suggestions 😃
@@GarronsMusic Awesome! I don't have much experience with synths so I'm still just watching tutorial videos to get a feel for the controls. Many of the other videos I've seen are shorter videos that show how to make specific sounds but don't explain all of the controls, so this is exactly what I'm looking for.
Yeah I do those kind of videos too! I just like to have these big videos on my channel as a reference for people 😃
@@GarronsMusic Make one for u-he HIVE
it's nice to find tutorials that don't spend too much time explaining what envelopes and LFOs are
That's funny. I am looking for more indepth video about LFO and Env to shape things more technically but cant fingure it out..
I feel like I went from 30% understanding it to 99%. Everything just made once when you explained it, and now I have a muuuuch deeper understanding of what everything does and how to do things. Amazing. Thanks so much!
So glad to hear that 😀
So I'm 40 minutes in and you just gave me a bazillion ideas I want to try.
This video is an amazing resource, thank you for putting in the time to make it
This is excellent! Thank you for making this!
Cheers mate. Really appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into explaining this in such a clear way.
Thanks so much for this.
I've had Vital for a while and never really dug deeper into it.
Every knob tutorials is what's needed! I want to know every parameter to make my ideas come to life! So many thanks to you dear friend 🤩👍👏
Tonnes of info in here I never knew about, great stuff 👍
Thanks so much for making this very helpful video! Wishing you all the best!
Amazingly Explained
2 years after and this rocks, thanks
This video was extremely helpful and truly it has been the best tutorial I have found after a couple years research now.
My favourite aspect is you focus on the tools and their functions when so many other videos are about creating one specific set of sound(s).
So far I've mainly used Synth1, free samples/effect plugins and LMMS native plugins to some success, though mixing has been the worst (clashing frequencies, competing bandwidth).
I think with this I'll be able to more easily improve my instruments; sound and my knowledge. Thank you so much. 🙂
man this is a really great tutorial and holy moly what a powerful synthesizer big fr
Yes, very clearly and understandably into the depths of Vital with me. That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Garron . I'm not that professional because I'm actually just looking for ways to edit my field recordings for my music,I think the Vital fits very well let's see what the future will bring. Thanks for sharing 🎧✌
the sheer effort of this video alone gets a like and subscribe. over an hour of straight info, man youre a fucking saint! thank you!!!!!
Amazing job, thanks!
just shared this on my discord, nice stuff
these "every module" videos are excellent
I remember watching a couple of these for blender, can be a great way for coming up with ideas
Thanks so much I really appreciate it!
Yeah I found this really helpful to make myself! Lots of features I knew were there but wasn’t using regularly!
@@GarronsMusic yeah it's a super deep synth, by far one of my favorites
Comprehensive af. Ty, Garron! 🙏
Thanks for the video !
Graet tutorial Thank you ! Love the way Vital sounds. I couldn’t get any presets installed on Helm his vst before Vital , but Im guessing that dev just decided to focus on Vital so I think Vital is quite enough and very good.
Holy shit thank you so much for this definitely going to keep coming back to this cause theres so much to learn
Astounding video for an astounding synth!
normally i don’t watch videos longer than 15min...! but this was a very good in depth tutorial to vital. regarding vitals complexity, it naturally still only scratched many of it’s aspects. if you put everything in it though, you’ll probably end up at 20 hours!
so great job, you definitely covered more, than the official vital manual does. if only i can remember it all...
So helpful! Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video!
P.s. at the end where you mentioned topping the charts… you sounded like Dougal McGuire 😂 I’m sorry! 😂 but honestly, amazing video!
Liked!
this vid took me three sessions over three days to learn ... mirrored what you did. my god. what a gargantuan synth this is, feels like endless endless possibilities. watch me spend two hours learning wavetable editor just to use basic low passed saws for my entire career LMAO. thanks so much for a really informative video without a lot of bad jokes like other ppl love to use. new sub✌
Thank you, really useful stuff!
Awesome!!! Thank you for this!
This video was Vital! Excellent.
This is great, thank you so much for this video!!
The Gowl, Snyder, has nothing on you, m8! Fantastic stuff. Lots of really interesting little bits I had no idea about so thank you an awful lot!
Consider this a formal / written request for an in-depth FX tutorial plz!
[Best nan voice] You're a good lad, Garron!
Glad you found it helpful! I’ll definitely have some vital FX Stuff! 😃
Great video. I have a degree in software development in audio digital signal processing and you did great.
Thank you so much for this you glorious human
Was not expecting this accent! 🤣 Howye lad, good shtuff! Came here to get my head around the compressor

thank you for the video, subscribed
Thank you for the massive tutorial. One thing that confused me while trying the wavetable editor was the section right under harmonics and was hoping to learn more about it here but the video didn't touch that part. All good though, still learned quite a bit! Thanks again!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thanks for this!
Thanks man. Comprehensive and clear. I just started with Vital and you just provided a significant jump-start. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
This is the absolute best Synth out there imo. Holy shit.
This is a brilliant video, thanks so much. Would be interested in more of a look through how the spectral morph and distortion parameters work. Actually, in general any tutorials on actually applying all this and creating sounds (I think you said at the end there you're making some soon, look forward to them). Love your style! :-)
Thank you! Yes much more specific vital stuff is coming! I have a few
Other videos on my channel! I just wanted this general overview on my channel as a resource for people! 😃
Great video, thanks! A small thing you missed on Macros is that you can actually control/automate a Macro from another input. Eg you can map 5 parameters to a Macro AND then control that Macro from an LFO!
Amazing!
Big THX! 🙏🏻
Crazy helpful thanks a lot
Glad it helped
underrated
I'm pretty 'fluent" in synth, but I'm struggling to wrap my head around Vital's mod remap feature.
Could I possibly request an in depth video explaining/exploring this feature?
Thanks! And keep up the awesome content!
Thank you! I’ll cover that for sure soon! 😃
In the meantime! Incase you haven’t seen them “Dash Glitch” has a bunch of great in-depth videos about remap 😃
wohah, that was very interesting! Thanks for talking through all this.
btw there is typo on Envelopes in the chapters...
Finally, somewhere I can send everyone asking me to do this video :D Thank you Garron
Not sure if I missed it, but a handy-tip, Vital's bank format is just a renamed .zip. I find it easier to work with .zips than the export feature :)
Thank you so much man 😀😀
Nice work will look at at over and over again till i get t onder control MANY TNXX..
SEEMS VERY POWERFUL SYNTH
Thanks a looot fort his !
I watched the whole thing though. It was very very helpful. Thanks for sharing. You got a like and a subscribe from me.
By far the most detailed video about Vital ever produced by anyone, many thanks. I've been using Vital for several months, still unravelling some of its pervasive mysteries. Between Vital, Dreamsynth (another of my favorites) Octane and WaveRazor, just about anything is possible, with a tiny budget.
One of my favorite films ever.
finally
an educational movie worth watching
cheers g🎉!!
thank you!
You should either record in 60 fps or limit the chaotic cursor movement because it's hard for a beginner to filter instructive movement from filler movement. In the end the tutorial was very helpful but I had to rewind it hundreds of times for a week until I managed to follow all of it.
Getting a lot our of this. I've been dipping in & consuming it in small bites (for obvious reasons). I only wish I could click a like for each time.
Thank you so much! Glad you’re finding it helpful!
i'm deadass eating popcorn while watching this
Great video and a lot of information!
Consider lowering the volume of the synth you play for demonstration, because all of these extreme example sounds and pitches are very loud.
Excellente 👌
Big Thank you for that one. I guess, I need to watch that... some more times XD But it is perfect explained... as far as I can say that ^^. Just started
Really cool 👏🙏👌🤙 many thanks
Thank you too!
you're a g bro!
thank you
thanks a lot :D
"VITAL THE MOVIE"...hahaha...I love it!!!
thanks for this great video!!! i have only one problem with it: you jump back and forth with the mouse extremely fast over the interface 😅😆
I love the title lol
Hi~ First of all, thank you very much for your teaching, which is high-quality and complete, but I would like to ask you a question~
May I ask how to control the "macros" part? I'm currently only using random to make him move, thanks!
very interesting video ! however idk if i missed it but do you know how to create a portamento effect between keys ? there is the glide parameter but it doesnt mask the cut when you changes of keys, i would like them to glide on the pitch.
How to put the sound in mono in vital like if i want to make bass then i have to first make it mono then how to make it mono ?
thanks
I regreted not subscribing you...sorry.... notifications turned on as well 🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
FYI... THE LFO Section can act as a Sequencer
Throw on a randomizer and you can get a random arpeggio of notes
Note : You can use the text to wavetable option but in limited time , actually 5 text to speech wavetable per day :D
thanks for the clarification on that :)
my vital mirrors the movement of me moving around the lfo
amaziong video here man, my biggest gripe with vital is that theres no filtering available for the sample section without using one of thje two main filters. I usually just want to remove the low end :/
Yeah a centre filter like what’s in the chorus would be really cool!
holy shit yes
thanks again for this. will you be releasing any presets?
Working on a free bank for Vital now! 😃
MAKE ONE FOR SYTRUS PLUGIN!
How to reset Compressor settings (threshold, ratio) to default?
How do you type the exact parameters into it ? I can’t figure it out
pls make an elaborative tutorial about wavetable editing. it seems really interesting but was a bit hard to understand.
I will 😃
This one deserves an Oscar!
This is the best video for Vital! Subscribed. But... I'm wondering if I did something wrong here. Both my pitch and mod wheels are not functioning at all from the moment I load a wave as was mentioned here. Also, when I drag the pitch wheel onto the pitch within an oscillator... it doesn't function. Same for my mod wheel when I put it on a filter for a sweep. Is there some setting that I'm missing? Thanks in advance, if you can answer this!
If you haven’t figured this out, try disabling MPE mode
@@robertfimbres9628 Thanks! I'll check into it. ✌
Hi there...how do you delay the LFO, for longer then the nob allows. Is that possible.
If you set it to 100% then attach a macro to push it over that may work! I’m not currently able to check it but it works with a lot of other stuff
for some reason there is no audio preview when I'm adjusting a setting. Is there any fix for this, i've looked everywhere for this issue but can't find anything on it?
You have to use the built-in keyboard on the bottom of the plug-in window.
Is there a way I can contact you? I need help making a very specific sound and I'm struggling even with vital
Can you make a video like this for Iris 2? I don't know if you have it..
I actually do have it! I haven’t used it a lot to be honest I think I got it on sale!
I may do a tutorial about it I’ll just have to find some time to mess around with it and figure it out!
@@GarronsMusic thank you! I'm just recently starting to undestand subtractive synths (I think this is the proper name haha), so Iris 2 to me is just super complicated. I don't fully undestand how to use sample based synths. Again, thank you! You are doing an amazing job with these videos!
You didnt cover release automation mate? How to?
9:11 Perfect Foley for a farting bluebottle.
51:57 you sussy bakka
it sounds to me like the compressor actually has an upward compressor in it not and expander.
Thanks for catching that! I dont know why i was calling it an expander. It's definitely not making anything more dynamic lol
VITAL the movie, interesty title
OK, I am sold on this synth… BUT, I have a question… Do they inundate you with ads about buying add ones and what not? I would rather pay for a synth than install one for free and then get blown up with ads and/or emails…
Absolutely nothing of the sort. No ad screens, no nag screens, etc.
@@Audiomancer thanks for letting me know!!! My guard was up with this!!! Thanks again!!!!
