I've never found gambling fun, used to play lootbox games like clash royale and was just waiting to get a thing I wanted and be done with it asap, it's so tedious. Plus you never get satisfaction that you earned it, you just get lucky.

Pokemon (the battling aspect of it) is much more like poker than it is roulette there is randomness, but the best players will always always come out on top in the end
Collecting cards is also maybe a gamble like lootboxes but you could atleast sell them for money for people who care about collections a waste in my opinion but bored people have different hobbies
