Interesting thoughts. I definitely agree that the scions have felt like they have too much figured out, which is what happens with experience, and square needs to find some way to present challenge to the team. The only thing I would disagree about is that I hope they give us another epic. I love long haul stories and they have shown they know how to pull them off. One of the things I think about with all this discourse: we reached a huge crescendo in story, one that was building for years and years. If they want to build to another crescendo, tell a good story, they need to come down from that previous crescendo, you cannot tell an ever-increasing story, there must be highs and there must be lows for those stories to have impact. We are on a down swing in preparation for something new. I think they have overall earned some trust from the players to let them tell a new story. That's only my opinion though, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt until someone disappoints me, and I have not yet been disappointed in FFXIV.
Every single MMO ever released, assuming it lasts long enough to have expansions, ends up with "end game" players complaining the devs should focus on making more end game content. More raids, more frequent, harder, more painful., blah, blah, blah. The entire dev team should focus all their efforts on appeasing ~2% of the players. It's predictable, it's formulaic, it's kind of funny to be honest.
Not once did I say anything about more “end game” content. Just more updated content with current things in the game and not adding more. Deeper instead of adjacent and all that jazz. 💕
I don't know if a video that, despite making some decent points, has someone sounding very bitter throughout and mocking players for enjoying the game for reasons other than raiding, is "perceived" negativity... 😅 Edit: At 0:29
Sounding bitter? 😂😂 I was pretty neutral throughout, and definitely did not mock anyone. Merely showing different viewpoints from different players and content creators. 🙃

I got so bored with same old formula and gearing up “options”. It felt like being on a hamster wheel. I barely looked at end walker since I finished the initial msq :(
The formula will work. If it ain't broke and all that jazz. We definitely need new characters being part of the MSQ. The Scions (new and old) have grown up. Sure, EW didn't have a Relic zone (Eureka & Bozjah) but we did have the 3 Variant/Criterion dungeons. I'll give SE that. We also got a new Deep Dungeon which we havent had one since SB's HoH. Are we seeing a pattern there? ARR -> PoTD, HW -> 0, SB -> HoH, ShB -> 0, EW -> EO (is this the abreviation? I don't know, I dont wanna give away spoilers.) While yes, the FF14 formula may be "boring" the actual content hasn't been. The trials and raids for EW have been so good. The dungeon formula I agree is a bit stale. Honestly, and I say this from experience, it breeds toxicity, as the dungeons are now based around the 2 minute burst window. So you now can tell when a dungeon run isn't going as smoothly. XD
Ye know, I almost wonder why it is referred to as the "Hydaeln Zodiark Arc" from 2.0 to 6.0. It's mostly based on your troubles with the Ascians, but those guys barely do anything for most of Heavensward and Stormblood.
In listening to what theyve said about what this expansion means to us, " a summer vacation" i know that its a nice change of pace. Id like to think this gives us a nice break of story between endwalker, and the start of a new intense story line.
I dont think anyone would have had an issue with this if they had a Bozja like area for Endwalker. Their biggest mistake was not having one. It was a missed opportunity imo.
I may well have been, but I don't think that was an option. Square was insistent they release Endwalker on "Square Enix time", despite the team's conviction that it wasn't ready. They didn't have much of a choice but to release as-is.
@@deProfundisAdAstra Yeah im guessing the pandemic didnt things help either. As long as the content is good I dont see why anyone would have problems with the release schedule.

I think what's important regarding ff14 is that this formula... Is EXACTLY how other MMOs work. New expansion, same features. They might be dressed up in a new shiny package but they are in essence, the same. AND THAT IS OKAY. Its worked for WoW (whom this game rips from HEAVILY // WHICH IS ALSO NOT A BAD THING) for nearly 2 decades. Having a formula that is digestible and understandable for players is so key to longevity. When Blizzard tried to interrupt this formula of predictive gameplay, it blew up massively. I am referring to the "borrowed power" systems that have lead to some of the WORST expansions in that games history.
Hate to break it to you, but Dawn Trail's content is already set. We arent getting anything "new". If we want anything new, the feed back needs to hot very loudly ASAP for 8.0.
Let me put your mind at ease: Yes, it will absolutely work. The only people, who find XIV repetitive, are those, who literally treat the game as their primary job. All games have a gameplay loop, unless the rebuild the game...again it won't have new elements toward gameplay.youtubers just want views and I feel like they don't realize most of thier content is repetitive and lame.
