watching these videos i now realize locks are useless. but at least i can park in a busy area and use a lock like this because the thief wont want to stand there working in broad daylight.
Crazy how fast that worked. I had a four tumbler bike lock that is a much different design but after going through the first 1000 combinations by hand I saw this video and after a few minutes thinking wasn’t going to work, low and behold the first two stuck and then all I had to do was run through 1-9 on the last two which took a minute and presto! Thank you so
After watching several UA-cam videos, yours with the notion that the correct numbers become hard to turn really helps. It's subtle but it is there and is crucial for cracking my lock. Thank you!
@@sethmeyer4951 Master locks are popular, but yes it's a false sense of security as you say, and it only keeps honest people out! If someone is locking up something valuable and it's left unattended for more than 10 mins then they should ask themselves if it's worth spending more on a decent lock. Good bike shops will be able to advise which ones are secure. It's alway a relief when the lock pulls apart. These bike locks are really hard sometimes to hold, pull and turn. Especially when the wheels turn hard because of corrosion. Last time it took me 15 minutes to get one open with 4 wheels and false gates in the wild. My hands hurt a lot afterwards ;-)
LOL so true ... and I had to hold it away from my body ... out for the camera, and that was hard work! You heard me puffing LOL. Yes, a great relief when it actually opens, showing I was on the right track. :D :D Cheers

I ran into a lady today in the bike parking area. Someone had emptied her tire and chained their bike to hers in an effort to steal her bike or something. She was on the phone with the police for a good 10 minutes. After she got off the phone I asked if she was okay and she explained that someone had locked their bike to hers and she couldn't go home. I have memories as child of figuring out this method on my own bike lock so I figured I'd give it a go. Imagine her surprise when I unlocked it in a mere 5 seconds. The lock was set at 127. The combination... 126. Hahaha!
I have a hard time feeling when a wheel is on the right number, but there is an easy way: when it’s on the right number and you pull hard, the next wheel becomes difficult to turn. Example, if the wheels are ordered as in the video: set the fourth to zero, pull hard, and see how difficult it is to rotate the third one. It’s going to be easy, no matter how hard you pull, unless the fourth one is on the correct number. So try 0, 1, 2, etc. once you find it, move to the next one (try different numbers on the third one and see which one makes the second wheel hard to pull under tension).
This is what I call the "Indirect method" and I cover it in my Video 144. Well done for figuring it out, I had to be shown be someone else - you're a natural combination decoder!! :D :D

Same here thanks a lot, I've watch other videos but non explained it like yourself and pop the lock opened........got myself and brand new bike 😂 not kidding about the first bit though
Used this on a similar lock with 4 numbers. Felt more like it caught from left to right and sure enough, it worked! I put the number in and as soon as I saw it, I had the biggest head slap moment... How could I forget?! Thanks for the helpful guide! I had a hunch pulling would be how it's done, but I didn't know how to tell I'm on the right number.
Well done for getting it open! Heheh yea combination locks aren't all that secure, also most bike thieves will do a physical attack, like cutting the cable, so it's most important to have a very thick cable. Cheers!
Well done! ... and yes, it's great feeling when it pops open. You also know that others know how to pick open this lock too, so be careful what you lock up with it.
Worked like a charm after a family member reset the bike lock without remembering the code. As in the video, the tricky thing was keeping the lock under tension
was not sure, but really works! my lock bound to the right! it was quite expensive, inkluding a real solid chain! it is a bit frightening, how easy this goes!
Excellent - well done for getting it open! Yea part of why I do these videos is to show people that combination locks aren't that secure. Most thieves will physically cut the lock/chain, but there are a small percentage that will attempt to decode it, and some do it opportunistically, where they have no tools on them and they come across it and "just give it a go". For better security, use a lock with a key. More of a hassle to carry around the key, which is why a lot of people opt for a combination lock. It's good you used an expensive lock. Some people put a cheap bike lock on their expensive bike. I generally recommend spending 10% to 15% of the bike's worth on a bike lock.
@@Swynndla thanks for the answer! actually, the SPGOOD lock is just 10 bucks. but i meant it is heavy because of the chain and thus looks more expensive than then one you used. maybe more expensive locks have a better locking system for the numbers.
@@bvrulez Ah ok! - yea you're right, generally the more expensive, the better the lock (in terms of cut resistance and also pick/decode resistance - and I would recommend a good named brand too). You might be interested in my other video I did for an SPGOOD bike lock: ua-cam.com/video/e0xpSiTtvNA/v-deo.html
I have gone into big stores to open all sorts of locks and ones like this. I shouldn't do that because I know I am on security cameras. My first lock that I opened like the one in this video was when I was 12 years old. While watching TV as a 14 year old I opened a Master padlock with just a wire. It was probably bent so it would act as a tension wrench and a pick. Many years later lock opening has become my hobby.
Similar story to myself! It's only the last couple of years or so that I'm gotten more serious and started to collect different types of combination locks so I can learn how to open all of them. I've found the there a 3 main methods: Method 1: Indirect method like this Method 2: Direct method like my video 63 and some of them have false gates like my videos 66 and 89 Method 3: Probing method, see my video 118
Thanks a lot I find out solutions from your UA-cam I forgot my scooter lock combination and after 2 hours want to decide cut the lock I try watching your UA-cam and I did it in 5 minutes,,,really help full
Cool video, I love decoding locks. Do these ones always go left to right or right to left? From my limited experience it seems that it can be sometimes random with other disc locks
Thank you! :D :D Yep they are a lot of fun. They can bind in either direction, but usually one way or another and not so much completely random (a few locks do though) ... so different from key-tumbler locks! Cheers
It worked!!! Use a considerable amount of force, like I used my feet to pull while i turned the dials. I was trying each combination out of the 5 digit lock. I went up to 03649 and I started searching for other ways to open. My fingers hurt rolling the dials. The force needs to be as hard as u can pull, its only then you will notice the difference. And yeah i had skipped the password while trying each number manually.
Well done! Thanks for the tip on pulling hard ... yes I tend to pull quite hard, and I probably didn't explain that well - so thanks for sharing! Yea when you tested manually (every combination) it's easy to go right passed it, either because the tension is exactly straight (so wont open) or because it's easy to lose your place when testing every combination. Thanks once again, and super job!
I have found the combination this way, BUT some locks are less sloppy and some show a 'click' or resistance also on the opposite number, so there are many more combinations to test.
Well done opening it! Also thanks for the feedback / tips. Yea I find that good-quality locks have lots of false gates. I still think that for bike locks the best method to try first is the "Indirect" method that I describe in my video 144 (it works on most bike locks) and if no joy then use another method eg: feel for clicks and distinguish true from false gates. It's amazing that different types of combination locks take different techniques to open them.
I just picked a lock with this method a few days ago. I just found this out years ago when i was a kid or young adult. xD I just got curious one day if i could open a lock and i got it open in a few minutes. It was fun that i was able to use this method that i learned by myself years ago. xD Btw it was a hard lock even tho it was only 3 digit because the wheels didn't want to move one by one. :D
Ah that's how I got into decoding locks! Well done for figuring it out by yourself ... you must be a natural. I found that different locks require different methods to decode, so had to learn different techniques (some by figuring it out, and some by watching other videos). Cheers for the nice & interesting comment!
It worked thank a lot you just won me a atv my dad said if I can crack the code he will buy it for me in 2 minutes I don’t it he was shocked thx a lotttt
Hey if i could put voice I would have putted. First I didn't trusted this video but when I did like what you said it worked. Thank you so much 🥰🥰😚☺☺😚😚🤩🤩😘😘😘😘. You got a new subscriber. ❤❤❤❤❤
It worked but only for the first 3 digits. Even when i know the code, i cant find a difference in the last 2. Btw, numbers found go in pairs of two. If 1 is a possible number, 6 also is possible. They are on opposite sides on the lock. That was on my lock tho. Hope it helps
Thank you for the feedback & tips! Yea sometimes locks put false gates on the opposite side, and that knowledge can help with decoding. Dunno why only the first 3 wheels were playing ball, but I guess the remaining wouldn't take long to brute-force. Great job getting it open btw :D :D
Good luck! You could also try the "Sideways" method in my video 190: ua-cam.com/video/e0xpSiTtvNA/v-deo.html You may also want to try the pure indirect method in method in my video 144: ua-cam.com/video/Rn_Q3zWQhCY/v-deo.html
HELP ME! MY BIKE LOCK GOT STUCK 3/4 IN THE HOLE! I was trying to set the password, but apparently some point along the way my finger brushed against the dial and set it as the wrong one with out me noticing. I was fiddling around with it, but it got stuck three fourths of the way locked. PLEASE HELP!
If it's stuck most of the way in, then the last dial won't be engaging the teeth of the locking mechanism, so that means you have less wheels to decode (ie in a 4-wheel bike lock, you only need to decode the first 3 wheels). Once you decode the final wheels, the lock should open. Then if it doesn't close all the way, just turn the last wheel until it closes. Does this make sense?
Yea that's one of the reasons I did these videos, to show people how not-secure they are. Get a key lock, and make sure the thick cable isn't really a thin metal cable with lots of plastic covering it ... those type are so easy to cut.
@@ballsdeep6954 Most key-locks are outside people's skill-set. A thief would have to bring lock picks and be experienced with them (as even though some are easy, a lot of key locks are very difficult to open), so thieves instead bring heavy tools like a bolt cutter or grinder etc, and if they are caught with these items on them when acting suspiciously, they are in deep trouble. With combination locks, it attracts opportunistic thieves, who don't need any tools, and they can do it on the spur of the moment. That's how I see it anyway.
Locks are everywhere! You just need to keep your eyes peeled for them. Hanging around sign post, bike racks, fences in city's or towns. Go to high crime area and check out bike racks for cut locks. Cutting locks is buy far the fastest and easiest way of stealing bikes, especially if the thief is on drugs, or has other serious mental impairment, which most do. I have an enormous collection of locks, never paid a penny for any of them. Just keep it legal, or mostly legal. Citation by cops, which is less than a misdemeanor is my limit for deviousness.
Yes it could. I find that with old dusty / dirty locks (that might also be a bit corroded) I have to apply even more tension. I would use the plain Indirect Method in my video ua-cam.com/video/Rn_Q3zWQhCY/v-deo.html ... but make sure to wear gloves and you'll have to pull really hard (with constant tension) on old locks. Some people have had success by standing on the cable to get even more tension. You might be able to get someone to help you tension it. Your fingers will suffer. If that fails, then you could try the "Sideways" method in my video 190: ua-cam.com/video/e0xpSiTtvNA/v-deo.html ... but it only works on some locks." Good luck!
I put a lock on my bike and while I was changing the code I moved the dials and set the code as a code I didn't know so for the past month I've had 2 bike locks on my frame, the stuck one and a working one
No sadly, I watched this tutorial a few hours ago and it didn't work so I ended up using 2 wrenches, grabbing on to both ends of the lock and than twisting in 2 different direction to sheer the lock in half. The lock is gone but I had another one anyway
Yes this method should still work, but only some of the wheels (closest to the opening) will have any affect (that other wheels wont have the teeth on the pin to engage with), so you only need to use the wheels closest to the opening. If you can't get it open then use the Indirect method described in my video Picking 144. Once you're got it only then you'll only know some of the combination, but with bike locks it's easy to get the rest of the combination by follow the method in my video Picking 30. Let me know how you get on. Good luck!
Yep - if you look at my video called "(Picking 30) How to decode a padlock *closed* (decoded)" it shows you how. Good luck, and lemme know how you get on!
@@Swynndla Thanks for the answer :) I tried, but I cannot get the end as far as you could in the video, so the pin doesn't click through when I turn the first wheel. The lock looks like this at the end - imgur.com/a/NeazPTT. It seems that there is something in there that is not aligned?
I live in New Zealand and the postage may be quite hefty? If you still want to, look up my email address in my "about" (on my youtube channel) and flick me an email.
Just gave the homeless community a huge upgrade.😂 We gonna have the bicycle chop shop open in no time.😂😂😂 In all honesty, though police just shut one down next to my house. They were stealing bikes like ebikes and stuff and taking them apart and building new bikes to sell them. Literally a bicycle chop shop.😂
WOW interesting! I will say that the majority of bike thieves will not spend the time it takes to decode combination bike locks, but will instead physically attack them with bolt cutters / grinders and the like. They want to spend as little time as possible and leave the scene. However there are a few opportunistic thieves who will see a bike locked up with a combination lock and the just "give it a go" - they have no tools (as they weren't planning it). Part of why I do these videos is to show that combination locks aren't as secure as people think!
Some of them I noticed don't have any feeling of a click, but if you listen, the right number is the only one that doesn't have a resonating click. That's been my method.
@@Swynndla I was very surprised. Took me less than 3 mins to crack the code. This lock was sitting with me for over a year. I kept wondering where the original papers with the code was. Thanks again.
Remember to tension the lock by pulling as if you're trying to separate both ends, as if you're trying to open it when the correct combination has been entered, and remember to pull straight, not at an angle. You have to get the first wheel correct before the next wheel will show signs it's on the correct number ("lurching", or more easily turning into the number all of a sudden when turning under tension, and not easily turning out of that number when under tension). If the previous wheel isn't on the correct number then you wont get that lurching into the correct number (or sometimes you will but it wont be as obvious).
Very true. I've had some people get me to help them get a combo lock off their bike that they'd forgotten the combo (and also a 2nd hand shop), and it's much more difficult "in the field" ... the angles and bending over and reaching out in front of me makes it more difficult.
I now have a collection of 10+ bikes! Thank you so much!

THANK YOU! You just saved me spending another $20!!!
Excellent! - well done and I'm so glad it helped 😜😜
For 2+ years I had my bike lock useless because I forgot my password, now because of this video I saved 40$
Excellent! Well done
was not sure, but really works! my lock bound to the right! it was quite expensive, inkluding a real solid chain! it is a bit frightening, how easy this goes!

Well done! Well it's better than them stealing it I guess!
I might acquire one of those bike locks. At least i know i am good for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. lol. Have a good one:-)
LOL cheers Paul :D :D You have a good one too :D
Hahahahah xD

Thanks for this now I can leave my bike in the bike rooms, thanks for this mate..!!cheers👏👏😁
Glad it helped! Have a great one mate 😜😜
Dude! Thanks. It worked!!. Now I wrote down the combination in case I forget again.
Excellent! You have a new skill now :D :D
Took a bit of time 1hr 10 mins but saved my lock and the cost of another one, great hack 👍
Wow that took a bit of time - I hope your fingers & hands aren't too sore! I bet it was a great feeling when it suddenly opened!
@@Swynndla absolutely but welll worth the effort 🤔👍
I forgot the combo to my bike like. After watching this vid I was able to pick it in under 60 seconds! LOL. Thanks for your help!
Excellent, well done! :D :D
Shows you something about your bike lock, doesn't it?
I have gone into big stores to open all sorts of locks and ones like this. I shouldn't do that because I know I am on security cameras. My first lock that I opened like the one in this video was when I was 12 years old. While watching TV as a 14 year old I opened a Master padlock with just a wire. It was probably bent so it would act as a tension wrench and a pick. Many years later lock opening has become my hobby.
Similar story to myself! It's only the last couple of years or so that I'm gotten more serious and started to collect different types of combination locks so I can learn how to open all of them. I've found the there a 3 main methods:
Method 1: Indirect method like this
Method 2: Direct method like my video 63 and some of them have false gates like my videos 66 and 89
Method 3: Probing method, see my video 118
Thanks a lot I find out solutions from your UA-cam I forgot my scooter lock combination and after 2 hours want to decide cut the lock I try watching your UA-cam and I did it in 5 minutes,,,really help full
That's fantastic! Well done for getting it open. Cheers!
I heard that accent and instantly recognised you were a fellow kiwi! Fuck yeah! Glad to see another kiwi here!
Chur for the video bro
LOL nice one! Chur bro 😜😜😜
Thanks! It definitely helped to have a rag around your hands. More friction and surface area made the pulling part a breeze.
Great tip - thank you! :D :D
Yeahhh!!! Thanks for your video....figured out the combination!!
Oh that's super! Well done on decoding it. Have a great week!
Thanks very much, just helped me get my car out a locked carpark!!
Hehe nice! - otherwise it would have been very inconvenient for you - well done! :D :D
Totally worked. Thanks. 😊
Excellent! Glad you got it open. Have a great day!
Thankyou so much. Four numbers I decided. 5th was difficult . I guessed
Excellent! That's a valid technique, as the last number is quick & easy to try each number. Well done!
excellent content. well done. now ill go watch the indirect method.
Thank you for the kind feedback! :D :D
Cheers
Thanks so much you saved my life
Hehe so glad the video helped - have a great day! 😜😜
Thanks so much I have a bicycle lock and I forgot the password you helped me a lot thank u 🙏🏽 so much
Well done that's fantastic!
It took me a while but it worked! Thanks ✨
That's great to hear! Yes it can take a while to get the "feel" of it. Well done!
The best solution to my lock. Thanks very much.
Excellent! Thank you for your nice comment. Cheers!
LOL nice prize! Well done! :D :D
Hey if i could put voice I would have putted. First I didn't trusted this video but when I did like what you said it worked. Thank you so much 🥰🥰😚☺☺😚😚🤩🤩😘😘😘😘. You got a new subscriber. ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic! Well done. :D :D
I use my legs to provide the pull. Great video, thanks.
Excellent! - and thanks for the tensioning tip!
Absolute legend! Thank you
Thank you! ... so glad the the video was helpful ... excellent!
it took me an hour. but i did it. thank you very much.
Oh well done! Your persistence lead to success! Cheers

Works so well thanks. This is sick
hehe well done! Yea now you know how :D :D
Omg it finally worked although it took me like 1 hour but thank you soo much
Excellent! Well done for persisting ... you must have gotten sore fingers/hands. It must have felt great when it popped open!
Great yes I open my bike lock with this trick..very easy..everyone should try
Well done! :D :D
Oh no 🙈, can’t believe how these locks are so easy to open, was just about to purchase one for my new bike 🥴😡
Yea that's one of the reasons I did these videos, to show people how not-secure they are. Get a key lock, and make sure the thick cable isn't really a thin metal cable with lots of plastic covering it ... those type are so easy to cut.
@@Swynndla aren’t key locks easy to 😢😢
@@ballsdeep6954 Most key-locks are outside people's skill-set.
Thanks ... It helped me to unlock forgotten combo 😎
Well done on opening it! I'm glad the video helped :D :D
I need to get some combo locks 🔐 great video bud 👍🏻
They are great fun. Cheers mate. :D :D
@@mr.shannon6137 what the crap I didn't think I'd see a literal thief in these comments lmao
I have a dusty old lock. Could that be making it harder for me to pop open?
Yes it could. I find that with old dusty / dirty locks (that might also be a bit corroded) I have to apply even more tension. I would use the plain Indirect Method in my video ua-cam.com/video/Rn_Q3zWQhCY/v-deo.html ... but make sure to wear gloves and you'll have to pull really hard (with constant tension) on old locks. Some people have had success by standing on the cable to get even more tension. You might be able to get someone to help you tension it. Your fingers will suffer.
If that fails, then you could try the "Sideways" method in my video 190: ua-cam.com/video/e0xpSiTtvNA/v-deo.html ... but it only works on some locks."
Good luck!
I put a lock on my bike and while I was changing the code I moved the dials and set the code as a code I didn't know so for the past month I've had 2 bike locks on my frame, the stuck one and a working one
Did you manage to decode it?
No sadly, I watched this tutorial a few hours ago and it didn't work so I ended up using 2 wrenches, grabbing on to both ends of the lock and than twisting in 2 different direction to sheer the lock in half. The lock is gone but I had another one anyway
@@legendleopard7125 That's certainly one way to get in. You can see how easy it is for thieves to get past these locks.

Excellent! - well done :D :D
So... When the pin is just partially in and we're not certain that the code has been or not been accidentally altered... Can this method be used ?
Yes this method should still work, but only some of the wheels (closest to the opening) will have any affect (that other wheels wont have the teeth on the pin to engage with), so you only need to use the wheels closest to the opening.
If you can't get it open then use the Indirect method described in my video Picking 144.
Once you're got it only then you'll only know some of the combination, but with bike locks it's easy to get the rest of the combination by follow the method in my video Picking 30.
Let me know how you get on. Good luck!
Worked a treat thanks!
Cheers! :D :D
Really Thanx helpfull. I tried it Works🔥
Fantastic! So glad it helped, and we'll done 😜😜
Can you do this if you forgot the code, but the actual lock itself is open? Like if you cannot put tension on either end?
Yep - if you look at my video called "(Picking 30) How to decode a padlock *closed* (decoded)" it shows you how. Good luck, and lemme know how you get on!
@@Swynndla Thanks for the answer :) I tried, but I cannot get the end as far as you could in the video, so the pin doesn't click through when I turn the first wheel. The lock looks like this at the end - imgur.com/a/NeazPTT. It seems that there is something in there that is not aligned?
Great demonstration, thanks for sharing, cheers
Thank you matey! :D :D Cheers
Thanks, it worked !!
So glad it worked - have a great day 😜😜
Thanks. Just saved my lock

thanks man!!! it worked..you saved my day!!!!
Fantastic that it worked!
I have an impossible old bike that I can't crack... Willing to mail it to you (with return envelope) for you to solve on video??
I live in New Zealand and the postage may be quite hefty? If you still want to, look up my email address in my "about" (on my youtube channel) and flick me an email.
Just gave the homeless community a huge upgrade.😂 We gonna have the bicycle chop shop open in no time.😂😂😂
In all honesty, though police just shut one down next to my house.
I LOVE YOU DUDE! THNX SO MUCH FROM ARGENTINA
Hehe thank you! :D :D
Some of them I noticed don't have any feeling of a click, but if you listen, the right number is the only one that doesn't have a resonating click. That's been my method.
Different locks require different methods - well done for figuring out a method that works for your lock - fantastic! :D :D
@@Swynndla I've been really interested in lockpicking lately and enjoy how concise your videos are. :)
@@elisabethandersen1102 Excellent ... yea they are fun. :D :D ... Have you seen my "Best Method" one?
When picking combinations you are looking for anomalies. A lot of locks share the same anomalies.
How do you get it on both methods to work. It’s bloody impossible on this 10 digit 4 combo lock 😡
If you have 4 wheels then you've got a different sort of lock that what I showed right?
Yeah different to this one but similar. I’ve followed and watched your other videos.
Thanks your method worked for me!!!

That's excellent! Thank you mate and have a great day.
How do I know one of them is right
Remember to tension the lock by pulling as if you're trying to separate both ends, as if you're trying to open it when the correct combination has been entered, and remember to pull straight, not at an angle.
@@Swynndla Thank You a lot sir!
This wouldn't be so easy when the lock is in situ around a bike , when the cable is already pulled tight and possibly twisted.
Very true. I've had some people get me to help them get a combo lock off their bike that they'd forgotten the combo (and also a 2nd hand shop), and it's much more difficult "in the field" ... the angles and bending over and reaching out in front of me makes it more difficult.
Pain in the ass but it worked, thank you!!!
LOL cheers - I'm glad the method worked out! 😄
