Wow! I wish we could go back in time. Brett and Charles were the best. Match Game. I loved everyone (except Kathy Griffin) on this show. Classic. Legends.
H2 was awesome and this week was such a special treat, with Peter Marshall being the icing. Thankx for the upload!
Charles Nelson Reilly hosted a short-live game show in the late 1980's called 'Sweethearts'.
Peter Marshall as a Square instead of the host. That is priceless
Peter was the host of the final day of that week while Tom was the center square for that one episode.
To see Charles without his toupee is quite rare.

Great cast that week! Brett and Charles reunited, and Peter Marshall now a star on the show he formerly hosted! And, of course Rod Roddy as guest announcer! Then, Kathy Griffin as one of the stars, although I'm not sure why she's on "Game Show Week", but, she's another one of my favorites!

Ya know, if Bert Convy was still alive today, I can guarantee he would have been one of the squares.
I also could've said the same thing for Bill Cullen and Geoff Edwards, the two hosts of "Chain Reaction".
This was a real treat to see the masters of the X's and O's in one special week of Hollywood Squares: Peter Marshall of Classic Hollywood Squares and Wink Martindale of Tic-Tac-Dough!

I...do remember seeing glimpses of this when it aired, but the episode I saw had Tom Kennedy, and I remember Rod Roddy passing away shortly after this. Awesome that Peter Marshall got to be the center square!

Peter Marshall was the best host they ever had he was awesome
he also appeared on a week of shows on the John Davidson version w/ then-Barker Beauties Janice Pennington and Dian Parkinson.
I’m convinced Tom flopped when it came to explaining the rules on purpose just so Peter could step in.
It was intentional- Peter, being the master of H2 was given free reign to explain the rules of the game. Interesting, isn't it!!!
I saw this week both when this was originally on and on GSN reruns; totally awesome, nothing else needs to be said except for totally awesome.
I didn't know Rod Roddy announced this! It was AWESOME seeing his face again!
I believe Rod Roddy was still voicing the microphone on "Disney's House Of Mouse" at that time this aired.
If Paul Lynde was still alive during that year, he would’ve been on one of the squares.

I watched all the time when Whoopi was on! I loved seeing Caroline and Martin. Among others. Also, I watched Sabrina religiously too!
An underrated host they had was Jim Lange. I think he hosted the first game show that awarded a million dollar top prize

And the Hollywood Squares version that I grew up with was the mid-80s version hosted by John Davidson :)

It's not the fact that they were old, they both had health issues. Brett was suffering from stomach and colon cancer and Charles was ill with respiratory issues. Cancer and severe respiratory issues can age you a lot. They were also both former smokers. She smoked cigarettes and he smoked a pipe.

Martin Mull should have been replaced with Dick Clark, and also, Bob Barker should have been on the show since this version of SQUARES was done at The Bob Barker Studio, would have been fitting to have Bob on this special week of shows. :)

@TVonthePorch: from things I read it was because new management/ownership felt that the famous comical give and take between Bob and Rod (and before that Bob and Johnny Olsen) took up air-time that could be used for commercials and, or, pricing games. I wish I knew the real story. A lot of the truly classic game shows have always had iconic hosts and iconic announcers. Very rarely did a game show thrive on just the wit of a host...a good announcer is crucial, in my opinion.
If this was Saturday Night Live week, I choose Molly Shannon for the center square along with, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Sissy Spacek, Amy Poehler, Norm MacDonald, Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri.

I couldn't think of anyone better to occupy the center square for this week of HS...for all the obvious reasons.
If this was Sha Na Na Week, Jon 'Bowzer' Bauman is this weeks center square.
I would have liked to see Bob Barker on the show during this special week, it would be only fitting since the studio is called the Bob Barker Studio, he should have been on here though. :)

I'm actually surprised Charles went bald. He had a lot of hair for quite a long time!
He started to wear a toupee' in the 70s and did so for most of his career. So that was not his own hair when you saw him on Match Game. He stopped wearing them in the late 90s.
Actually he was already bald. During the 70s on Match Game he wore a toupee. He abandoned the toupee in the 90s.

@fivebearrugs You probably saw it from the second time they did game show week. Tom Kennedy was there, along with Bob Eubanks, Monty Hall, Rose Marie, Nipsey Russell, Jaye P. Morgan and Jamie Farr, Betty White, Jo Anne Worley, and Martin Mull. The announcer for that week was Shadoe Stevens.

@TVonthePorch It IS clear, as Rod was taken off camera due to a dispute his agent had with Bob Barker in getting a raise - Barker was pissed, and since he was the EP, he took his camera time away!
