This would have been the 5th and final episode of the week, based on the episode number (480). I think they filmed 3 episodes, took a break, and then filmed the other 2.
BTW, this episode is among the clips shown during Season 1 of As Seen On where the theme for the set of clips was Contestants become hosts, for most of us, it was the earliest memory of this episode. But the earliest time most of us record this episode at a reasonable time slot is on September 15, 2002.
A lot of shows were on the lineup when most of us thought about recording this episode, which included 3 daytime Family Feud episodes(2 from ABC Daytime, 1981 and 1984 respectively, and 1 CBS Daytime which just entered 1990), Lingo with the Dutch set, Whammy, Russian Roulette(which by this point at least 50 episodes of Season 2 is already completed so far in taping), Friend or Foe(which getting the Season 2 episodes taping cycle completed at the time of this episode's rerun).
I only came across matchgame @ Christmas this year when I received a roku as a gift and watched it on buzzr never seen it before here in Ireland love the incidental music when they go on d add break very Catchy jazzy tune to it
I noticed that as well. I thought I had heard Willie Tyler had passed away years ago, but obviously my mistake. Lynn Redgrave is rather subdued. In fact, all of them are. This is early eighties. They were older from the seventies when they were more uncontrollable, it seemed.
Oh, CBS Daytime Feud wasn't rerun the day of this episode's rerun. Let's Make A Deal was rerun that day of this episode's as well as Win, Lose or Draw and Vintage Squares.
I used to watch this all the time when I was younger I love this game and I love the actors I love Richard Dawson to so glad I found this on UA-cam this show was great but back the good old days where did they go
Kathy was extremely cute. Wish I could find someone who looked like her in today's world. I wonder what she looks like today. She's probably in her 60s assuming she was in her 20s in 1981 She also had a great sense of humor especially when she took over @6:18.
Sadly, they are all gone now. Fannie Flagg is still going strong at 78. Gene passed in 2017. He loved the show till the end. An amazing funny man with a gentle, tight rein.
Marcia Wallace looks FAB in this episode, with her plunging neckline navy blue dress and her short little haircut and the gold jewelry on her tan skin!
Gene was seemingly touchy, and a bit prickly. He apparently had a chilly relationship with Mark Goodson, and Gene was known to rebel whenever he was told to stick to the format.
@@davidjones9661it's no secret that both Rayburn and Goodson weren't short on ego. I've read that Rayburn always felt underpaid and unappreciated as someone who helped to keep Goodson a very wealthy man; plus, Rayburn was a frustrated actor simply doing game shows to pay the bills. And I would imagine that Goodson tired of prima donnas--it was bad enough dealing with a me-monster like Richard Dawson.
@dennisdivine7448 Yes, good points. I liked Rayburn when he wasn't the egotist, wasn't the creepy, semi- "old uncle perv"... That binnaca-mouth spray gig he had with all the new incoming female panelist, really Gene? And whenever any female contestant got attention/a kiss from one of the male panelists, Gene had to elbow in there, get "his share"... He was witty, did great voices, kept a good lid on the show. Dawson was very much the same, basically everything I said about Rayburn applies to him, except the "It's my show, I'm the star" bit, and that he had nobody competing with him for the kisses he planted, except maybe an angry husband, which was very rare, if at all. Dawson was much more self-assured, more laid back. Times change, much of the creepy stuff the two did back then would never fly today. Still fun to watch.
