Yes, it was the 1970's and he had the luxury of NBC's wardrobe specialists to help coordinate. After all, on television, there are do's and don'ts so as not to clash with the camera. Certain patterns would cause moire patterns, weird colors and just perhaps be washed out.

@@FloraWest that's not exactly the case. First of all what you do you mean by material? Everybody has said the typical response that you stated here but no one can say exactly what that means. Did the showrunners come up with the comedic response that Paul Lynn gave, or did he think of those on his own because he knew what the questions were going to be for him. What exactly was going on here with Paul lynn, and how do you exactly know that for sure? Is that what Paul Lynn said? Give us an interview where he confesses that i.e. the material was supplied to him to make him funny by the showrunners. And if he did just know the questions beforehand so he could come up with his own funny answers, that really doesn't make a difference. So again, which is it exactly? Paul Lynde used to crack me up back in the day! This guy was so funny. And I loved the retro-commercials at the end. I completely forgot about "Amana"!

I used to turn on the TV at 11:30 every day during summer holidays, just for Paul Lynde's answers. He never disappointed. Post-Apocalyptic Malone, you did good.

Loved Paul Lynde! What a time to grow up when his double entendres were obvious yet clean enough for kids.

Couldn’t wait for summer when we could watch it every morning during the week. Brilliant comedy, the show never failed to deliver.

OMG, the 70s are not a time to look back to for fashion, unless it's to remember what not to do.
My favorite Paul Lynd quip ever on Hollywood Squares was,
Peter, "What are two things you should never do in the bedroom??"
    Paul, "Point and laugh."
    😂😂🤣

He was a master. All this was cold turkey off the top of his head. He had no advanced notice. That’s what it made it so beautiful.
