Turning a 29” Black Oak into 6/4 slabs is impressive! Can't wait to see the transformation and 'Other Stuff' you have in store. Keep up the great work!
My uncle had a sawmill and cabinet shop that I hung around a lot when I was a kid. Brings back childhood memories. Would love too work at your place@@Helmsburgsawmill

1st time watching the channel today. Wow, what a great setup! That saw cuts so true it looks like you could cut veneer if you wanted to. I love the 4 blade setup. During the whole video, I just kept muttering WOW to myself. Great work!
@@Helmsburgsawmill That pass that produced two uppers was impressive, especially the one on top that was 100% quartered and 100% clear. I recognize some mills and carriages, but perhaps you would elaborate
I ever dtudied in USA. 30 years ago. I bought oak table from garage sell. Right now, I stay in Thailand.Very amsizing, oak wood texture looks similar to teak wood.
I was wondering is it possible the videographer could take some pictures from on high up in the rafters? Looking down at the logs going through the saw. Definitely stay safe. Don’t injure yourself to get the shot. Stay safe God bless. ✌️🇨🇦
I have a very good mount I could use for the go-pro! It’s fish eye lenses though. I’ll go ahead and give it a try for a log and throw it in a video! Here soon though, I’ll find some mounts for my phone
I am intrigued by your automatic position setting (it looks like) side saws for edging. I hope there is a video that talks about the operation of your sawmill. It is so fast and accurate.
@@HelmsburgsawmillOK. In one of the vids, I did see the two LED Lines that shown down the log. You are just SO FAST at doing it, it looks automatic. Great job of setting it! The other reason I thought it was automatic (other than the speed) was that it seems like it would be impossible to compute and set the proper board width so quickly. Please do a video on that part. Go slowly for us dunderheads, please! ;-)) Thanks.
Yes just slightly!! And yes that’s actually why they’re called something different than Red Oak. The bark is just darker and rougher. Red Oak is grayer and smoother
Wie immer bei allen Folgen: Faszinierend. Aber auch hier mal ein Lob an den Erzähler, der in allen Folgen durch seine ruhige und sachliche Art begeistert.
The first truck load had varying width and length. Does a customer supply logs and say, "Get me all 1 inch by best width as you can out of 10 logs". And you cut and charge for board feet? How does that work? Thanks again for great video.
So we’re just buying logs in bulk, from a logger, and shipping grade lumber to an outfitter. They mill the lumber down into their own finished product. They take all length from 6’-16’, and from 4” min width, to as wide as you can. And you’re welcome!!
Nice sawing dude but i have a question this is the first time I've seen you sawing so slow is it because the oak was so hard or did you just slow it down a little for the viewer's and why do the logs on deck appear green is it because of the lighting it looks weird? But you are a good sawyer dude you utilize every bit of the log you can!
So I had just sharpened the saw! You wouldn’t think this, but when it’s sharp I have to go slower. Other wise the top of the headsaw leans into the log a little too much. When it gets duller, I have to go faster to make it lean in enough:) And ya it’s just weird lighting. Thank you!
@Helmsburgsawmill no problem dude I was just wondering I've never really seen you saw that slow but that's a great explanation I can understand I've been around sawmill's a little in my life but I've never been a sawyer only off barrer and it sucks when the sawyer gets in a rhythm!
My cousin's Mill had a vertical edger but no laser to help line up the saws ,he was pretty good at it, he sawed a little faster than this he was always in a hurry.
Enjoying the sawing. Your grade requirements must be far different than those for western soft wood, you seem to leave a lot of wane on every board as you square up.
I’m trying to make videos of all kinds. A lot of people claim to like the silence🤷 However, I would like to have more in can of me talking. I just can’t saw as fast as
That black oak looks magnificent. Thank you for sharing your work as always!

Thank you for another great video. Gorgeous oak. Also thank you for answering questions in the comments 👍
Hands down this is the best saw mill on the net.
I greatly appreciate that!

Not boring. It’s what I’m here for.
Great video lots of good info
Very nice oak it has lovely grain perfect for furniture
Enjoyed watching, thanks!
I’ll also add Black Oak lumber is categorized as Red Oak! Black Oak typically doesn’t saw out as nice. Make sure to like today’s video and subscribe!
thank you also a great video very good decision what you do

Another great sawing video
ive never seen a 4 blade saw like this fantastic video thank you for showing this 👏👏👏❤❤
Love this machine/sawmill !!! Its super cool how many boards can be cut at once !!!

I appreciate that sir!!
Me too.. Awesome set up
I don't know what is so damn entertaining about a sawmill, but I lose track of time watching this stuff.
😂😂
viewers like me are interested in how the log is maximised for the most lumber
AMAZING ❤❤❤
That's quite a nice sawmill
I appreciate that sir!! I’ve got a ton of videos:)

Wow amazings factory Wood, succes for you boss
I'm interested in that saw, 1 vertices blade, and 2 horizontal blades!
Looks like two and two with that top saw running above the main blade..so 4 blades turning..Nice setup
That is some very beautiful wood , and high grade
That’s an awesome mill setup. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it on any of the other channels.
I am intrigued by your automatic position setting (it looks like) side saws for edging. I hope there is a video that talks about the operation of your sawmill. It is so fast and accurate.
There will be!! And they aren’t automatic:) I’m setting them while I’m running the carriage back

Does that 6/6 go for flooring or something else
It’ll be turned into flooring, and furniture pieces!
Is your top blade out of adjustment? I noticed the edger saw leaving a mark.
No it’s not out of adjustment. If both saws are cutting good my feed rate will dictate that small lip you see
@@Helmsburgsawmill so does that mean the saw wasn't cutting good or was your feed rate off on that log?
So is the top blade set forward of the main blade, also dose black oak have a different appearance as bark
Yes just slightly!! And yes that’s actually why they’re called something different than Red Oak. The bark is just darker and rougher. Red Oak is grayer and smoother
where does that grade of nice oak come from?
It comes from Central Indiana. It was 10 minutes from our mill:)
THAT'S a saw!
And beautiful end product.
How often do you sharpen the blades?
The headsaw about once a day. The others it just depends. They don’t bear the load of the headsaw
A very beautiful piece of wood
Thought your place looked familiar, worked on Lanam hill road rehabilitating a house for about 3 weeks. Turned almost in front of your business.

Thanks for the inside look at your operation. Hiw do you come by such a large stock of high quality big wood?
I like your wood cutting methods boyz 🇨🇱🤪
Very good sawing . Ain't your first dance . Great video . Good night from central Arkansas .
Why the black oak saws different? I figured you guys professionally could saw even steele , you so good
By saw out differently, I meant grade differently. Black Oak tends to have more knots in it
in canada we have white oak, blue oak,and red oak to.😎🤠🤤
Que maravilha de serra, há madeira fica bem mais bonita.
My cousin's Mill had a vertical edger but no laser to help line up the saws ,he was pretty good at it, he sawed a little faster than this he was always in a hurry.
Can you ajust the horizontal blades or are they fixed?
Enjoying the sawing. Your grade requirements must be far different than those for western soft wood, you seem to leave a lot of wane on every board as you square up.
Fun watch and wicked power. What it powered with? I have a small mill in NW Washington but thin kerf.
Nice set up. So much more than the average band saw mill and efficient. Do you spend time with the cut offs and try to recover usable material?
It would be cool to do a video while you’re selling watching the chipper. Do it work?
Best sawing
How do you dry the wood.
We put our lumber on sticks and it air drys. However this lumber is getting stacked in a bundle and shipped off green
some narration would help explaining how you know what width to cut at. Also what thickness to cut at?
First mill I have seen set up like this. The ones we have in our area have control booth and skid way opposite of yours
Most other mills from here do as well! This one is just considered a left handed mill
Nice sawing.
Thank and good luck
the saw blade is sharp 11:12
Show logs getting sawed from feed in side too. Be carefull videoing over those drive belts!
25:30 Bei den vielen Ästen an der linken Seite, kann der Baum nicht nach rechts fallen. Wie blöd sind die eigentlich !?
