My goodness that new blade goes through that oak like a hot knife trough butter! Many moons ago when I worked at a sawmill, I remember when we put a new 56 inch blade on our mill. It was the same as with you now, nothing but smoth even production. Stay safe and God bless!
Like butter! I always liked how white oak sawed. One of my first custom sawing jobs back in the 80`s was 10 k bf of big clear white oak , the farmer wanted it for pens in a bull barn! Sawed on a manual Lane mill powered by a 1964 401 ci. Case diesel power unit. This is why my back is pretty gone now LOL . Set up a lot like yours. In the end we had an EM16 Morbark debarker ,home made log decks with stop and loaders ,#1 Lane semi auto with Barry feed, Melott log turner ext . Nice to see the circle mills kept alive.
Lot of sawing BUT if they have the money...........! We use rebar for stakes. We used bamboo for a while but it was a pain with all the splintery edges and with reber, wherever you tie onto it is where it stays. Glad you had Captain Horvath and ZZ Mark and the gnome favors those two. Happy weekend and God Bless
Gidday from NZ. I used to work with my father on his mill' a handy tailing out tool for grabbing the slabs was a piece of 3/4 Galv pipe 9" long with a Right Angle Triangle of 1/4 plate steel 1 3/4" long to 1" base. Weld the 1"base to the side and end of the pipe. Great for flicking into those wayward slabs and pulling them out of the way. I'm a Marine Cabinetmaker now, that was a beautiful oak log, nice wide planks, give your eye teeth for one of them here. $3870 for the blade.
That is a very nice oak log there it may have been a ugly log at first but a very nice looking one on the inside. Your right that new saw blade loves this hard wood looks like she is running true
I've been playing bass for years and doing these things without even realizing it. Unfortunately, nobody ever explained it this way and I wish someone did. For someone just starting out, this may be the most valuable lesson you can get.
Thanks, guys - enjoyed! And good to see Sammy, the pointy-headed safety guy, keeping tabs on the operation from the end of the log deck where he could observe without being in the way. Yo, Sammy!
Thanks for watching MrPossumeyes! Sammy is becoming a integral part of the saw mill crew! Somehow the little guy makes safety fun…funnier…bearable, yeah, bearable. Hope he puts a smile on your face! ZZ Mark
@@mark6062 I like seeing Sammy keeping tabs on things, ZZ (Mark). Some safety guys are a pain in the ... round, soft thing, but Sammy just keeps an eye on things, in YOUR interests.
ZZ Mark here. Mark G was at the eye doctor just about all day yesterday having a procedure done on one of his eyeballs and his is not able to see the computer screen to answer all of the comments that are coming in. Yesterday’s video didn’t post until later in the day also. But Mark is home and recovering, and he does plan on being at the sawmill Saturday. So, I am going to have a go at replying to some of the comments and watching those guesses on the price of the new saw blade that have been coming in. You are getting closer and closer to the number! I didn’t even know it until Mark just told me. Thanks for watching the movie and have some positive thoughts for Mark as he recovers. I’ll let him fill you in on the details. ZZ Mark
We just bought a 48" diameter blade for our buzz saw. Maybe we paid a little too much. Sammy better hang on. Dad says he needs an upgrade of PPE starting with a helmet. 🤣 We couldn't tell does Sammy using hearing protection??
Thanks for watching the movie Anthony! Sammy is doing a good job so far, maybe he isn’t one of those that leads by example. No “Oh no, Mr. Bill” moments yet! ZZ Mark
Bummer about the eyeball. I have issues after working on computer (confuser) and have found that eye drops help a lot. Hang in there Mark. Loved the video - you guys are fun to watch and love to see the beautiful wood as it is uncovered. Saw blade $ 2025
You and Eddie are like my daddy plowing with his mule. Daddy would shout Gee! and the mule would turn left and daddy would shout Haw! and the mule would turn right. Eddie looks at what you are doing and he knows Gee and Haw. You, Eddie, and the oleDetroit have it going on sir!
Judging from the look of the saw kerf marks on the oak, it seems like the blade must vibrating slightly causing a wierd kerf mark about every 5" or so...is this new blade made of a lighter steel, or thinner body material? These marks didn't happen with the other blade...seems less stable...
Curious about how that indicator dial is aligned to the measurement to the saw blade? With that vibration in the mill when everything is running how does it stay aligned and how often does it need to be adjusted?
Four thirty in the morning having breakfast them boards have nice a nice grain , finally found out what was causing the noise in the saw bench pulley on the end of the shaft had six thousand run out clocked it on the lathe new pulley has sorted that the old one is now a door stop , you guys have a nice day
A saw blade is quicker in cutting the run of the mill stick sizes in lumber or timber. Band saws cutting big slabs is one thing to make table tops, but you need planks to make standard furniture items like cupboards and shelving and oe legs excetera. A lot if the lumber cut on this channel is destined for external exterior construction use like decks and general building use.
Wow Mark. That new saw blade spins so true and flawlessly that it is difficult to tell that it is in motion. Regardless of the price, that new saw blade is worth every penny. It was slicing through that oak log like a hot knife through butter. Great to see the bearded crew back in full force including the safety gnome! You may need to consider growing a beard Mark! L
Thanks for watching the videos Randall! New blade is working out really well. I don’t know what Mark would look like in a beard- we may find out soon! ZZ Mark
I saw Sammy surveying the situation at the far end the whole time. How does he get along with Turtle John since they're at opposite ends of the safety spectrum? Bill
Hi Bill! I think the magnet of Sammy repulses Turtle John! Sammy haven’t fallen off of anything yet, while TJ an accident happing all of the time! Thanks for the fun Bill!ZZ Mark
Hi Mark, the price quote I got back from BH Payne for what I believe is the same blade you have is $2523! I guessed $2000 originally because you had said you got a discount and paid no shipping, so then I would guess now $2123? Sammy was on the log feeder! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺
You guys do great! Disappointing to see so many “armchair sawyers” in comments…these folks do this for income while you’all sit at home griping about wood waste, stop sign cutting, 1 by cutting, etc.

Nice new saw blade. Been a while since I've watch a video of yours.still really enjoy them
Nice to see that some members of ZZ Top are still working.
What a wonderful way to wake up and start the day. Thanks Patrick
Wow! Love the grain of that timber. Polished up with beeswax and oil...wow! Boom!
I love the shine of the new blade, it just sparkles.
Nice having a nice new blade and good helpers. Have a good weekend.

The grain on that wood is absolutely gorgeous
Well it was until it was cut into matchsticks & sawdust
Amazingly soothing to see the log turned into boards. Blade cost is 4,321.00 Great video, thanks.
All I thought while watching was that wood being used for a dinner table with a light oak stain . Really enjoyed this one
$3,150 i think I missed the deadline for guessing. I just found this channel
Have been binge watching.
What a beautiful piece of wood.
Who ever designed that sawmill is ingenious, and many years ahead of his time. Thanks
Love to see Sammy the Safety Gnome watching over the log loader and Chewy so intently 😁
I think he was being overly observant of Chewy! He is a nice addition to the crew at the mill! Thanks for sharing the fun!

That’s what I was thinking Mark. Tomato stakes for the Biltmore mansion. Beautiful wood! Great job guys!!!
cant believe you are sawing those beautiful oak boards up into 1X pieces!!
That woulda been se frigging insane boards tho right...but u get what u get when u cut for customers
Cut it down 2½ x 22 aaye
Glad you guys are back. Missed ya 😂
I really enjoy your skill and the crew
Sammy the safety gnome is on the #4 log rack next to the wall where the ladders is very nice boom
2118.00 that was a "perfect" log for that order, thanks again Mark, Eddie and ZZ Mark
Appreciate you watching the movies John! Your in the ballpark with your guess, just not close enough.

The Oak Ridge Boys. Good to see you.
Elvira Alan! Love the comment! Thanks for watching us!

FYI, that bounce in the small boards caught me by surprise and I was glad I was not running the saw at that moments :)
Great video Mark and Eddie and ZZ Mark. Hope everyone's keeping well. 4600 for the saw blade. Take care.
Those wide oak boards would make some nice flooring planks.

Some nice saw milling thank you for the video.
Man it's amazing how your New Saw Blade is cutting through the Oak Log as if it is a stick of Butter !
That is the most terrifyingly large and awesome saw blade I have ever seen.
Does anyone else recognize this as Swamp White Oak? Sawed some a while back for trailer decking- incredibly hard wood, 7° bands stood no chance.
Hi, Mark
I love the sound of your "Detroit"
Very nice blade. I'm thinking $2330.00.
Be safe and may God bless!
Thanks Roy! A little high on your guess.

I would like to see how you feed a board with two rough sides into the edger and it comes out with one finished edge
Some short logs are great for furniture and crafts. We saw specialty pieces down to 3 foot logs, especially walnut and cherry.
Addictive watching this stuff Great Job! How often do you have to sharpen the blade?
seems an absolute shame to chop such beautiful wide boards into small pieces. One of the nicest logs you've cut.
What happens to the bark off cuts
THOSE BOARDS ARE REAL NICE LOVE THE GRAIN, LOVE OAK DONT BURN THEM
2393.00 for your saw blade. Great video Mark and gang!
Did you get a new camera? The resolution of this video was very noticeable, a big improvement.

Was curious if you're hired to cut consecutive lengths of trunks to harvest similar grain patterns for a large, residential project.
The new blade seems to cut good. It's still shiny!
If i close my eyes i can smell it fresh wood. ❤
me too

Saw Sammy on the log deck. That was some pretty oak.
Thanks for watching Karen. The inside of that log was much nicer than the outside suggested! Who knew?

Does the new saw cut better than the old? Just asking, I am a sawfiler 46 years in the business and still loving it.
Judging from the look of the saw kerf marks on the oak, it seems like the blade must vibrating slightly causing a wierd kerf mark about every 5" or so...is this new blade made of a lighter steel, or thinner body material? These marks didn't happen with the other blade...seems less stable...
the guy you told was close has a big advantage over the rest of us because he knows where to start
I get wood like this alot but can't carry or haul it that size like big outfits so it generally ends up firewood .very cool machine .
I am sooo glad the Gnome lived !!
Me too Frank! He was not a VICTIM this time! Thanks for watching and having fun with us!

I chuckle every time you say Perfect now. Better than wondering what you mean
Hey Mark, enjoy the videos! Know any saw circular saw mill owners in operation close to Kansas?? Would love to get some lumber.
Curious about how that indicator dial is aligned to the measurement to the saw blade? With that vibration in the mill when everything is running how does it stay aligned and how often does it need to be adjusted?
Making 2 x 2 from such a great oak log????
Id like to know how many boards you lose with that saw blade compared to a bandsaw saw blade
1/4 per cut I think maybe a little per kerf
I love those circular blades. They scare the hell outta me
I would enjoy seeing how the blade is manufactured.
Good video Bus Motor Productions
Love that Detroit Diesel on the wall man... we have one here in Oxford Michigan
Great grain show ... great cutting of your 3x1 lengths
Just laugh at you Yankee's all up side down on your diamentions lol lol lol
And what about your spelling? 😉
On video it still looks like deep circular marks on the surface. Are all teeth really properly aligned/grinded?
My guess is $2168 for the new blade. According to my calculations, the price was between $2153 and $2171. Great videos guys!
