We're answering the question of "is the Walmart gaming PC worth it?" with this video, but also, the answer is "no." Especially because they sold us a different PC than the one we got, but maybe that's just a logistical thing. Regardless, the internal components deserve analysis and discussion, as does the build quality and quality of assembly. The Walmart DTW3, DTW2, and DTW1 machines were already clearly overpriced, even for a system integrator, but it gets worse the more we dig into it. This is the kind of machine that a parent buys for their kid to play Fortnite, and Walmart still manages to screw it up.

Did you get a pick up discount ; it said something about getting a discount if picked up from Walmart not shipped???
Steve this trash happens all the time, even for the stores.
Just checked the motherboard, of course it is the single cheapest motherboard gigabyte makes on the platform.
It has an amazing 3+1 phase vrm without a heatsink.
It only supports vga out (this may actually be a blessing as it may prevent people from accidentally plugging the monitor into the igp instead of the gpu)
I wonder what it will do under a combined gpu+cpu torture workload. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually catches fire.
They probably had the glue on the usb cable so they know if anyone took it apart. So I would re glue it just encase they try to say you cant return for some BS reason. Also what a pos for the price!
How many bipeds are going to be scammed this holiday season? It was no shipping mistake IMO, they are just seeing if it sticks.

And an unlock key for the 1070 to get the different chip. Jensen shows up at your house and de-solders the chip and puts in a different chip, vrm and vram..

Walmarts PC stands head and shoulders over Dells offerings. You'll never get everyone to agree on anything, but however the entire PC world came together and looked down upon Dell and said in unison "wow, what a piece of shit."
But at the same time being better than Dell doesn't really say much. Thats like saying "oh yes, ill take harpies instead of genital warts." Both suck, stay away from slutty PC manufacturers.
Not really, Dell puts higher quality components in their computers than this walmart computer. Dell's biggest issue is that they insist on using the same damn case they've been using forever even though space and heat dissipation requirements have gone up a lot. Great review of this PC. I hope you got the issue resolved.
Not surprising, but not limited to Walmart. I ordered an I-7 laptop from Toshiba (back when they still made gaming laptops) with all the added extras (more memory, bigger SSD, better DVD-RW)... when it arrived, the sticker said "Intel I-3 Inside". Customer support had no idea what the difference was between an I-3 and an I-7. Argued with them for hours, finally got them to give me a refund and when I checked the amount they refunded me a couple days later realized they charged me a "restocking fee" because it was custom ordered. - . - Another hour on the phone and I finally got the rest of my money back.
This was the 4th (and last) time I bought a laptop from them.
This makes me appreciate my self made pc so much

Not only you're doing something people generally won't do, you also learn.
Honestly I wouldn’t even believe Walmart would do something like this. You can literally sue them for this, in a way you are opening my eyes to all these companies. Thank you
We are talking Walmart here. I mean look at how they pay their employees and such. I don't think "quality" when it comes to stuff like this from Walmart. All the Waltons care about is raking in the cash like Bezos and the rest.
They will cheapen out how they can. Mark up to appear valuable to non-PC experts who then buy these overpriced PCs.
Like a business who wants to squeeze out more from that new line before they end up getting a bad name.

Gotta be honest, worked at a professional computer building company that built computers for Boeing and Lockheed Martin, US government military, and we used hot glue to secure USB 3.0 connectors that would otherwise become unplugged during shipping, there's nothing wrong with the practice.... And it sucks when you get a computer sent back to you with a "faulty USB port" to find out the connector came out during shipping .
So I'm a bit late to the party, just started following. But this is just incredible. Either they think people are too stupid to know the difference or they just don't care at all. Either way I'm glad I started getting into pc building. I can build my own with components that I know are right.
Want to make a bet that they'll now refuse to replace it or refund it because you pulled it apart and they'll somehow claim "warranty void if removed" I can sense them trying to do that

Its really not that hard tho, anyone can do it with a bit of common sence and googling. Most people just don't care to learn so that's where Walmart "pre-builds" come in.
@@dabravetoaster Exactly. All you have to do is learn to read and be willing to spend a little time to get the information you need. That's it.
Well considering all the great resources to help you build your own PC available online, it's easy-as to build your own. I just finished building my own PC, it's just a matter of attaching a few parts, plugging some cables in and installing an OS.
PCs are basically just PSU/ Motherboard/ CPU/ RAM/ SSD, CPU cooler, Case (and case fans) and that's about it. Add your graphics card of choice!
I had a buddy who had custom made psu cables which were ketchup and mustard themed on his $2000 pc. The Walmart pc reminds me of that, just without it being intentional.

BRB, buying a DTW1 and hoping to receive DTW3 instead.
even then, you aren't really saving all that much... their pricing is atrocious...
Still getting riped off :-)
No, you get DTW0
With that kind of cash, it makes more sense to build one more powerful than the dt3 instead
Back when the 10 series launched I bought a 1070 for a very good price and received a *GTX 1080 instead*.
I paid just under £400 and received an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X, which was around £750 RRP at the time. Best part is the seller didn’t even mind and I’ve still got the card to this day.
MY favorite part is when the service rep compliments you on having a nice name.
Why pay people in your country when they can hire a Filipina for $1/hr, right. They used to hire Indians, but people could tell too easily that they're foreign.
Walmart, where you get low prices and you only have to sacrifice any semblance of proper service.
I've had those USB2.0 headers pull off the motherboard when trying to remove the cable. The cables often bind the port better than the motherboard does the port. This is on premium boards too, by premium brands. I'm always super careful removing those.
What’s funny about this in 2019 is that my local Walmart has one of these computers on display in store, and the little info card has GTX 1070 on it but someone crossed the 7 out and replaced it with a 6 as the card very clearly shows 1060 on the side. Way to go Walmart.
Daniel Medina easy way to get a 1070 i guess?
I just checked NZXT BLD and for 1500$ you get a RTX 2070 and a i5-9600K with 16GB 3000mhz RAM. R.I.P.

Dan McG they do not. Even 1400 for those specs of the DTW1 could’ve had a better PC by self building

Now it depends what you mean by that a gaming pc made by walmart yes thats a bad idea but a gaming pc made by some other company that uses walmart as a place to sell their products isnt that bad
For around $1500 you can build a PC better that this one in literally every aspect. Such a bad deal.
I work in a pc service shop and the hot glue is there because usb3 connectors have a tendency to pull out the plastic shield of the pins on those gigabyte and some asus boards, especially if you're working with low end cases(low end cables). I mean, I don't do it, but it was kinda obvious to me why they did it.
You know, sometimes tech channels do this, buy a prebuilt computer from a large retailer and surprisingly end up eating their words or going back on their expectations and admitting that the retailer gave them surprisingly good value considering the price...not this time. Oh god, no, not this time!
Walmart is serving as the storefront for these Chinese PCs. That's it. They certainly aren't building them and they aren't even shipping them. They are coming straight from China and the drop shipper will have whatever stock they have. So Walmart shouldn't be in bed with these people but I'm also sure they will correct it. They need to find a better partner, which will be tough.
Why Walmart has not devoted an aisle in their electronics section to PC components is beyond me. And if they then wanted to hire a dozen people to work in back putting these things together to sell in-store then that would be far better than this. They have a massive leg-up on the competiton by having the storefront presence they have. While the few remaining computer stores like Microcenter offer the same, being able to walk into a Walmart and buy a good gaming PC off the shelf that you can see with your own two eyes, and not having to wait, would be attractive to some people.
@@RJT80 a dozen people? nah walmart would pay at most 2 to 3 people and have them come in 1-2 times a week and make them build 20 in 6 hours
I mean it was a mistake that they're owning up to and sending the right product, so i don't know why you came to that conclusion
It's almost kind of sad how they're cheaping out on everything, even with that huge markup. I really hope shipping the wrong PC was a mistake because it would make sense as a scam, considering 99% of customers who buy a Walmart PC probably don't know a lot about it, maybe it's their first gaming PC or even PC in general. I think it's most likely a mistake though. That scam would be a really scummy and absolutely disgusting move.
It would be Interesting to see a tear down from a UK company like Scan Computers who are known for high quality builds. Maybe difficult to get hold of one in the US though. And expensive to ship
