Yes but you will need to bring it to a professional for Freon. They don't sell that in stores. Also, if your refrigerant is low then there is a reason. It would need to have a leak.

2006 Chevy Silverado Cooling fans run continuously changed the cooling fans, fan relays, changed the temperature control switch but the fan still stay s running
no, the thermostat opens and closes when the fluid heats up controlling the temperature. The sensor controls the fans turning on and off also controlling the internal temp of the motor.
I have a similar problem in my Cavalier 03 2.2 Ecotec. I changed 2 years ago the temperature sensor and the fan turns on 2 lines after 90°, since a few weeks the rpm drops and almost turns off the car. But I noticed that the fan turns on just passing 90° not as it worked before, I think rpm drops because the fan wants to turn on. Do you think it could be the temperature sensor who is causing the trouble again?
I have the same problem with the fan running on high whenever the car is running. Could I just buy one censor and plug it in out of the car to see if that is the problem? I believe it has two, one in the engine and one at the lower radiator. I swapped the relays around and it still is happening. Thx.
Yea, I don’t see why not as long as they are the same exact part number. There are also ways to test relays, just look it up on UA-cam if you don’t want to buy the part first.

I have a 2009 ford flex and my cooling fan stays running after the car is turned off for a long period of time it ends up killing my battery what could be the cause of it?
Thats a mixture of problems. First your car is designed to cool the engine a little bit once is off but looks like the temp sensor is dead as well so it doesnt know when to stop
Was wondering if i can make my fans work more efficiently on my 2008 Impala SS both fans turn on but i feel like they dont spin as fast as it should because as soon as i open the hood the engine is hot and no it does not overheat at all my fans are new and thermostat is new as well i just feel like the engine bay can be a bit cooler what can i do?
You should first know what temp your engine is at. Maybe the temp is perfect and you are exaggerating. Engines are efficient when hot, when they are cold they are designed to burn more fuel to reach operating temperature faster and perform the best. So what could you do is connect an OBD and see if temp is between expected around 100 Celsius or 210 Fahrenheit. Also fans have different speeds when the engine its too hot it will run faster and be pretty loud, but when its just over normal temp they wont go too fast just the necessary

ThePatriotsBrother park your car on a steep grade so the front of your car is pointing up hill, start your car open the hood and start squeezing the upper rad hose in a quick fast motion, I had an airlock once and a mechanic told me to try this it worked, it only took about 30 seconds and the airlock was gone
Not being a jerk but this was the wrong way to go about it... now hear me out before you wanna scream at me... lets say you bought the part you put it in and that didnt fix it, now you just wasted money. You should have hooked a scan tool to the vehicle and checked the temp through that... if right when you start your car up on a cold start and the scanner is telling you its much hotter or colder than the outside temperature then you know right there that you have an issue... or if once the car is heated up to operating temperature which is 180f to 190f and it reads different then again you know you have an issue... lets not forget about broken wires... could have very easily been a faulty wire to the sensor or pcm. Not at all being a jerk i swear, but if youre going to teach on you tube you should be proficient in your practices, if not youre jist going to have a bunch of people throwing parts at their vehicles until they are fixed. Ive been fixing cars for a very long time and have seen it all... this is just my .02 Hell maybe you did do ecerything i had mentioned above, but if so let your viewers know so that they know the proper steps to take.

Hey there, we have a 250 hp tactor that does this and I think after watching ur video that it is the temp sensor. You said that a manual fan with a clutch is ran of the belt, but isnt an electric that aswell?
@@Rythecarguy Our fan is told when to speed up and down via electricity instead of the old way with fluids, that we also own tractors that are using. That is what I refer to when I say an electric fan, but maybe a belt driven fan is similar controlled to an electric driven fan, so the problem may be the same as in your video, I just think that the sensor is placed in front of the fan instead and that works because the fan in build to run constantly then speed up when the water is getting hot. When the water gets hot the air coming through the radiator in front of the fan will change in temps and the fan will adjust speed. Not sure tho.

The fan actually behaves properly when the engine is running. Any ideas ? Note: I had been looking at my main fuses in the engine compartment prior to the car wash for a prior issue of the alarm doing off randomly and neglected to put the cover on before closing the hood and going to the car wash. After the car wash I noticed some water drops on the relays and fuses. Dumb mistake by me ..... but it seems that is related to the problem
Sir the same problem I am facing in my car pls help me with ur remedies done in car
I have a 2009 Nissan Altima and the fans are always running even in cold weather startups, but the guage that reads engine temperature still works not over heating and not too cold. My question is can it still be the temperature sensor??
So I replaced the temperature sensor and still both fans are running on high. I replaced the relays too and no luck.
I have the same issue with my infiniti g35
@@gthatkid6035 Im beginning to wonder it's not overheating cause it's super cold outside, and both the fans runs at full speed. I squeezed one of the main radiator hoses with the car on and....Believe it or not the Fan speed was reduced for a few seconds. I think radiator is clogged idk how or water pump is not circulating coolant. I already tried temp sensor, relays and nothing no luck. Hope this helps.
@pono321 does water constantly leak from under the car as well or is that just me?
It's possible it could be from the water pump seal.
i have a problem with my bmw 335i 2010, the fan is running all the time, non stop. can i you guys have any idea??
Fan is constantly running after key is on how to regulate
I like the way you talk, straight to the point!
My cooling fan keeps running with engine off. The only way to turn it off is to pull out one of the three fuses that controls the cooling fan. Replaced the fuse with a new one but still no luck.
No codes being thrown on the diagnostic tool.
No coolant leaks, no engine temperature overheating as of yet, just the problem of fan keep running and kills the battery when car is off. Any ideas?
Hi please advice I've got 2012 peugeot 3008 1.6 A/T vti petrol my fan allowys on while driving sense starting the engine and when I switched the engine off the fan stay for 5 on then it's off and the battery many times died please help and the car taking so much petrol, thank you
On my 2004 chevy venture, the cooling fans don't run untill the engine temp gauge is just over 3/4 of what the gauge shows, when they come on, they go till the engine temp is where it is going down the highway, then they turn off, however if I turn on the a.c. they are always on keeping it good engine temp, and if the engine temp gets half way the high speed fans kick on only with the a.c. on, so I don't get what is going on?
My electric fans not running all the time but I think it's running more than what it should what should I do
My Logan car radiator fan is running fine in normal climate according to the temperature, but while sunny climate it keeps running..No body could diagnose this issue. I changed thermostat, ac pressure switch but nothing worked...PLEASE HELP
My fan starts after sometime but then keeps on running... Temperature shows in middle... But after few km of running car loosing power when going uphill (I have to switch off ac)... also ac is not tripping as normally it trips when reaching certain temperature. What may be the reason?? Please help.
My protege5 2 fans keeps running and stoping evey 15 seconds , on and off , is it normal ?
What if you just need Freon is that possible?
Yes but you will need to bring it to a professional for Freon. They don't sell that in stores. Also, if your refrigerant is low then there is a reason. It would need to have a leak.
Ry- videos are still looking good and as helpful as always. Have a ‘10 xterra Off Road with 120k miles. It’s time to bite bullet and replace radiator. I noticed you don’t have a video on this from what I can tell. I’ve heard that they can be a slight pain. Have you done this yet on yours or do you plan to? Any pointers?
Thanks Buddy
Thanks so much brother because that’s the issue I’m having and I’m gonna follow your advice
Thanks for a great, no nonsense video.
Great video very informative.i will add to always clear any related codes because sometimes they will override the new temp sensor and keep the fans runni
I changed the temp sensor, my dash always showed engine temp, and fans still kick on a few seconds after it is running.... irritating
Same with mine. Did you ever find out why? Im starting to think its bad wiring.
In the process of all this was the temperature gauge reading hot when the engine was cold because I've seen it doing that
No, not that I recall
@@Rythecarguy okay certain sensors I've replaced in the past that have showed it where it's overheating even if the engine is cold. And I've seen the flip side where it's ice cold and the center still reads ice cold
On my car the fan didnt work, except when i disconnected the temp sensor. Even with the egnition off! Gonna change the temp sensor, fingers crossed 🤞😅
Good luck!
Hey man help me out here if you will. I have a 1998 Lincoln Continental and I replaced the radiator. Added coolant and removed all air bubbles so that's done. But now I've noticed that after replacing the fans, they stay on constantly even when the engine is at normal operating temperature. Before the job, they would run a while after I turned off the AC. Now they stay on even when I don't have the AC or heater on. What is going on? I've noticed a leaking sensor that is between the exhaust manifold and the engine oil filter. Any ideas on what's going on? They do turn off how ever when i turn the car off. They only turn on during driving and stay on until I turn the car off.
Hi Ry, the electric cooling fan runs constantly when the A/C is on? Excuse my lack of knowledge in cars, it is the first time I notice it. Thank you for your videos.
This was such a great help. Thanks
Had to thumbs up 👍🏽 the video b/c the radio fuse under the hood is exactly what the issue was but before that it was also making my ac turn on on ACC mode and blow hard as hell soon as the fuse was replaced with a spare the radio not only kicked on but when in ACC Mode my fan was no longer blowing
Thats great! Glad to hear. :)
Good morning. My 2007 Pontiac G6 fans coming on and staying on as long as the engine is running. I changed the temperature sensor and it is still doing the same thing. I am going to check the fan relays now.
Same here but with my Altima, did you find out what the problem was ??
I have the same problem after radiator leaks changed thermostat, radiator hoses and radiator along with a new temperature sensor. Fans running on startup and AC blowing hot air . Any odwas anyone please help thank you.
My daughter has a 2008 we replace the temp. senors but it still fan does run.
Cant vouch as far as knowledge because I have no clue if what u say is accurate, but you do a great job of dumbing it down for us non mechanical folk.
Hey quick question. I have the same problem with my 2011 Honda Civic. As soon I turned the ignition switch to on position both fans (radiator fan and condenser fan) start running on high speed do you think that I have the same issue? There is no check engine light everything else looks great. Thanks, I really appreciate your videos well explained.
I would definitely check relays. Sounds like one could be stuck on
2006 Chevy Silverado
Cooling fans run continuously changed the cooling fans, fan relays, changed the temperature control switch but the fan still stay s running
Clear the codes or disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.
Same here man it's so frustrating, Did you figure it out?
I have the same issues just dont know what's the problem
Is a temperature sensor also just called a thermostat?
no, the thermostat opens and closes when the fluid heats up controlling the temperature.
@@Rythecarguy yeah my car is over heating so I checked the fans they turn on and off I changed the relays and it still doing the same. And now sometimes the fan stays on after I turn the ignition off
I have an 11 years old Toyota sedan and has 90k miles on it. When I started the engine everything works fine up until a few minutes then the fan started running in full speed even when I turn off the AC or didn't turn on at all. I have the wait about 5 minutes before the fan is turned off, do you think it's the temperature sensor problem as well?
Good question I have the same problem but mine only turn off when car is off.
Hi! Can the aux/AC fan be reversed so that air can be pulled out of the vehicle?
Ideally, I would like to be able to flip a switch for the fan to push or pull air (of course with AC running the fan should be pushing air in the cabin).
I don’t think that it works that way I would not reverse the polarity on an electric motor. You can try it but you might be replacing your fan.
Can not get power down to cooling fans on the radiator is there a fuse or regulator. It a 2010 Jetta 2.5 gas
Good video , I have a 1995 ford mustang and when I turn the car off the fan keeps running you think its the temperature sensor as well ?
No, thats likely a relay or switch. Something is continually supplying power to the fan even when you turn off the car. Worst case would be a short.
Also a short to power, plugs or connectors where they are shorted internally
@@Rythecarguy I have a 2007 buick lucerne cxs v8 and my fans r turning on and off

Coolant temp sensor?
Hey thanks for your video I replace the sensor with a new one and it works thanks you 😊
Youre welcome!
Great video my 2013 Durango has the same problem thanks
Thanks for your helpful explanations and demonstrations
You are welcome!
Wade your awesome! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks but who's wade?
Where is the temperature sensor on a Nissan kicks 2019
No idea, never worked on one sry
I have a 2012 Ford Edge, the problem that I'm having is that as soon as I turn on the air conditioner de fans start running at full speed and stay like that for as long as I drive the car. Even if I shut the ac off the fans will stay on at full speed for a long time. The loud noise is embarrassing. However, If I don't turn on the ac when I first start up the car the fans will work normally. This is bugging me as hell.
Clear and concise explanations👌
i have an 06 silverado 1500 my fans run constantly, i changed the temp sensor, and they still stay on. I have to pull the relay 1 to shut them down , i replaced the relay 1 with a new one still running , my question is this should i just replace all 3 relays ,and hope that works? also when i put the relay back in without the key in they ignition the fans come on, u think this could be a short in the wiring somewhere?? or maybe a short in the fan unit itself??
Jim A I have the same problem and haven’t been able to figure it out. Did you figure out what it was?
@@goyitosalazargs ok so here is what i did, i took the computer out of the truck, took it apart checked out the mother board for water damage and such, i saw nothing , i sprayed the pins on the computer itself with QD contact cleaner, as well as the connectors in the truck to the computer, i haven't had a problem since, after doing that i can use the remote to set my alarm that i couldnt use for moths prior to cleaning the connections, i hope this helps , sry for the delay in responding
Great video very helpful
Glad ya like it! Thanks for watching. 👍🏻
i had the same problem before on my 1998 corolla, i replaced the coolant temp sensor switch and the cooling fan relay but the fan still runs as soon as the ignition switch is turn on. upon checking i found out that its a wire problem, the wires from the sensor to the relay were fried.
Jay Guevarra but was the temp gauge running and operating properly?
@@mohammedbenz9361 my still runs engine temperature and both fans still run on high
on my 95 accord, the radiator fan sometimes do not shut off when my car is turned off. the fan would goes on forever until the battery dies. i've replaced the radiator fan relay in the fuse box and that did not solve the problem. there is no engine light. what do you think what might possibly be?
Christopher Owens mines 2 & my fans come & stay on the whole time...
What if they spin but not actually fast enough to blow
Probably a bad motor. Check the voltage going to the fan. See if it's low. Then bench test the fan and see it if runs right.
@@Rythecarguy let me give a little more detail so I have two cars with the same engine and In the on position not started they always have ran at a low speed not blowing air tho and the cars never overheat and warm up fine they are vq engines that’s what i was wondering if it’s normal for those particular cars
Someone told me it could be an air-lock at the sensor or before the thermostat. What do you think of that diagnosis? And how the heck would you fix something like that? The radiator was just replaced and we think there might be air in there. We have no idea how to fix this, do you?
+ThePatriotsBrother look up "burping your radiator" that should help
Thank you very much!
Ive been fixing cars for a very long time and have seen it all... this is just my .02
Hell maybe you did do ecerything i had mentioned above, but if so let your viewers know so that they know the proper steps to take.
hocheye you forgot to mention to take your radiator cap off. The cap has to be off... if its not off there is no where for the air to escape.
My Chevrolet cavalier 2005 whenever I turn it off it's continues running, maybe the fan I don't know what is the problem please?
You should know the relay is good if the fan is get power.
What? No. Relays can stick open.

What-if the fans still won't turn off
I changed my radiator fan on my 96 bmw 318ti and it works but now my car turns on and then Boggs down and turns off. But it worked fine before. Has anybody ever had the same problem? I stumped!
guys please use simple linguistics. what's wrong in calling the coolant coolant or simply water. it took me hours to find out that anti freez is the water inside the radiator. anyways thanks it really helpful
I'm sorry but I call thinking by their names. There is no water in my radiators. There is only antifreeze. Antifreeze CONTAINS some water but it is not water. Antifreeze = coolant
Hey there, we have a 250 hp tactor that does this and I think after watching ur video that it is the temp sensor.
You said that a manual fan with a clutch is ran of the belt, but isnt an electric that aswell?
No, an electric fan will have an electric motor on it that turns the fan. All it needs is an electric connection to run. No belts.
