      I recently had my radiator changed a friend of mine said that my radiator fan shouldn’t be on since the car had been sitting for a while and it was cold outside so now I don’t know what to check or do

    I had same problem and I simply unhooked the battery for a minute hooked it back up and the fan went off. The temp gauge was also not working in my car and that fixed as well after disconnecting the battery terminal and hooking it back up after a min. My son told me to try this his friend told him who is a mechanic glad it worked. Apparently it resets the system. I was driving the car for a couple weeks like that. I suggest trying what I did first only takes a min and anyone can do it

    I am having the fan running issue not constant but not my compressor stopped coming on also. I have no codes and the car is at normal driving temp. Any idea what it could be? It is a Mercedes’ 2010 e550 so I would assume it would throw some codes if a sensor was bad.

      First thing generally advised is to change the coolant at recommended intervals.

    Could be a faulty fan relay as well.

    • @stirlingschmidt6325
      @stirlingschmidt6325 Рік тому +1

      The relay is by far the most probable cause. When called on to switch high currents repeatedly, as it does every single time the A/C compressor engages, eventually the contact surfaces become pitted and weld together, resulting in the fan being on constantly.

  • @user-by5wh4sx1e
    @user-by5wh4sx1e 2 роки тому +1

    does it mean that ECU has power to energize the radiator fan relay even if the engine is off ?

    • @stirlingschmidt6325
      @stirlingschmidt6325 Рік тому +1

      Yes. The ECU and fan are powered directly from the battery, outside the ignition switch circuit. However, the fan relay contacts eventually become worn and weld in the closed position.
