Government benefits most by sale of cars. For every car sold in India the Government gets 50% of the cost. If people stop buying cars Indian government will go mad.
This is indeed an essay! Lets start with what I agree in this video: 1. Our government should incentivize hybrids more. 2. Improvement in safty and quality standards of cars is required like not manufacturing plastic engines and tin boxes. 3. Overreliance on cars is detrimental, like in the US ( but we don’t have a solution, so it’s somewhat required) Now with the disagreements (unfortunately a lot and mostly based on that youtube video about what america got wrong with cars and other videos) 1. Traffic on roads and car sales were going to increase regardless due to our population and requirement for travel which cannot be totally fufilled by public transport which is inadequate in number and already handling above its capacity, therefore breaking down often and being substandard. 2. Incentivizing small cars with small engines was a good move by the government for the reasons discussed below. 3. It increased affordability for cars which are a much more safer and comfortable mode of travel than two wheelers which were the defualt for most of India. And I mean much better like family of 4 or 5 not traveling on a single two wheeler or having air conditioning which is becoming a necessity in our country. 4. Small engine cars are better for India as well as they require less maintence, more fuel efficient than larger engines and produce less power than large engines. Why less power is an advantage here: the lack of training for driving in our country (just see the amount of porsche accidents). 5. Large cars create a lot of problems for any country: a. Infrastructure needs to be built according to the size of cars which means bigger roads, taking more space for the same amount of traffic, just see america’s highway and parking space problem. b. Pedestrian crashes involving large cars like the US pickup trucks you mentioned is usually fatal for person got crashed whereas with small cars you can get away with a fracture. c. Having a lot of large cars as traffic incentivizes more large cars and disincentivizes smaller cars as when a small and large car collide, the small car will take more damage similar to an actual truck and car crash, making everyone opt for large cars. Why this not yet a problem in India: Full size SUV sales is still relatively less. 6. Having less choices for engines, while reducing options for customers, is still a good thing. It provides customers with more reliable engines as it is used in more cars which means it should atleast in theory be a good engine which is not undercooked. It also reduces the cost of manufacturing as less R&D is required and this benefit in cost savings can be given to the end consumer. The same can be said about platform and chasis sharing. It also improves the availibity of servicing for the cars as the most mechanics would know how to repair popular engines and car models rather than bespoke engines and rare car models. Overall the decision to incentivize small, budget friendly and underpowered cars was a good one. The actual problem is our infrastucture and city planning, with many people having to travel long distances for school and work requiring the use of cars for a comfortable travel. If the workplace and schools were near the homes of people, we could have used the european model of cities that are meant for walking and bicycles not cars. If our country had adequate quantity, quality and cost effective public transport, people would prefer public transport, but alas our public transport is overcrowded providing neither the comforts middle and upper classes want nor the cost effectives required by the common man as seen with number of ticketless passengers barging in vande bharat trains making privately owned vehicles the better option for most people. Anyone who made to the end of this comment 🎉
Nitin Gadkari is an overrated idiot. I never liked him. Just building highways is not sufficient. India needs revolution in road mannerisms and strict implementation of traffic rules. Wrong side driving, impeding the right of way and not following lanes is too common. Not becoming of one of world's largest economy.
You are twisting the facts...this sub 4 meter sedan rule is very good for Indian conditions...for this car prices remain relatively low and affordable to middle class...just compare any same hatchback model price in Japan and India, you will understand...more car sales means more jobs, more boost in GDP...the population and fuel import increased due to multiple factors...30-35% fuel used by good trucks only in India, then there are commercial and goods 4 wheelers, shipping, railways, industrial machineries, defence, agricultural machineries, etc...passenger cars only contribute around 13% in overall fuel bill of India...then in last 18 years consumption increased hugely in India which caused increase in fuel import bill...not only cars...now coming to fuel efficiency, it's very true the 1.2 litre engine is way more efficient...you compared a hybrid car with regular ICE, why...a 2.5 litre diesel engine's fuel efficiency will be nearly 60-70% lower compared to the 1.2 litre engine in practical scenarios...a hybrid car costs nearly double than of the regular one...who will bear the extra cost...it's not economical and value for money for a developing country like India...1.2 litre engine is the right choice for everyday use...in last I want to say normal people does not compain about underpowered, then just even bothered about it, they just concerened about mileage...a 80-100 bhp engine is sufficient for 4-5 peoples commute with best in class mileage, then why go for 140-250 bhp engines for mass usage...it's simply wastage of resources...if you want high performance then go for overpriced German or Italian cars...for 90% people Maruti, Hyundai, Tata and Mahindra's VFM and fuel efficient cars are sufficient...and that reflects in the sales numbers of them...
Automotive laws and taxes like europe and infrastructure and development like India, it's getting harder and harder to live in India as a middle class 😢
My opinion is irrespective of sub 4 meter, due to lifestyle and EMI access people will obviously go for a car. Abhi agar sub 4 meter ka benefit aaya hi nahi tho log jo bhi affordable milra wo le lethe the for e.g. Ertiga, Ciaz. Paise waale Innova lelethe. Aur paise waale. What you want to say? Government won't provide public transport... Companies won't provide.. Office transportation... But all companies are expecting to work from Office... How it's possible.. Make work from Home as an option then all traffic will reduce automatically... To address one issue government and companies are doing multiple mistakes... End user is suffering in huge traffic jams
Exactly... some research and many myths... Over the time new car sales will happen some how and also we will have old have.. so oil bill will definately will increase... Comparing I20 petrol milage to Toyota Hybrid Car Milage... 😅 Many other points no much research 😅
Sub 4 metre rule is not a sensible rule. Instead, government should have directly asked the manufacturers to focus on efficiency. More efficient a car, less tax. Could have created brackets, ie, if a car gives above 20 mileage, less tax, above 25, more concessions, above 30, further concessions etc
Technology do not work like that, if actually a car can give 30 kmpl then then companies already would have started manufacturing and marketing. No car engine can give that much mileage.
@@restinmusic2571 Industry works like that. No manufacturer cared about emission norms until governments came out with strict deadlines in the form of Euro 1,2,3,4 etc. in 2000s and late 1990s They gave the instructions that by any means, by a certain time, auto manufacturers have to reduce the emissions by a certain amount. In 2000, today's Euro 6 standards seemed impossible and people would have said it's never possible to reduce that much emissions. In short, industry will adapt only when pushed to the limit. The same with safety. I guess you don't really understand how the auto industry works. Today all the cars look shapeless in India because of the senseless sub 4 metre rule. One home one car should be the rule, kuch logo ke lie desh ki jagah sirf rasto me ja rahi hai, pollution ho raha, congestion badh raha, its complete inequality for those who dont own car

Video information is great, suggesting to create video on BS 4, BS 6 & ETHANOL Base engines & effect of ABS compulsory in 150cc & above engine byke. Because my analysis says this important cause to increase in R&D of engine & price hike, so that a vehicles became expensive!!! Above engine R&D said for low carbon emissions & less oil import.
Nicely made video with real facts coz in sub 4 metres no one can sit comfortably especially above 5’-10” heighted persons then what is the use of purchase & also ingress & egress is also difficult for old age persons
These laws & regulations hampered many fields such as choice of cars, choice of engine size, pollution curbing & decongestion. Focus should be on mileage & less pollution rather than curbing engine size. Incentivise cars which are less polluting with higher mileage. Indian buyers also feels cheated as we do not have choice of engine size, power, muscle cars, sports cars, pick ups etc. Incentivise cars with all wheel steering plus crab steering for decongesting. There are many ways. Why don't govt. spends it's own money in Hydrogen ICE technologies. EVs are a menace too
Disagree with many points. 1. India's oil imports and car sales were bound to increase due to increasing population and per capita income. Had govt not brought in these rules, chances are that oil imports, pollution and traffic congestion would have been even higher 2. Hybrid cars will any day give more fuel economy. So incorrect to compare mileage of normal petrol car with hybrid car. It is like comparing apples and oranges. 3. More diesel cars were sold during UPA times because diesel was more than Rs10 cheaper than petrol. Those were also different times when even Europe used to think that diesel engine is better for the environment than petrol 4. Very few people purchased the Ford Ecosport model with 1 ltr ecoboost engine because it was the first petrol engine with turbocharger. Even today many people avoid buying petrol engines with turbocharger because they are not reliable. 5. Check the sizes of engines offered by car manufactures in USA and Europe. You will find less variety and smaller sizes than 20 years ago. Car manufactures are these days reducing variety to optimize on cost. It is costly to keep updating and producing a wide variety of engines meeting today's strict pollution control norms. On top of that there is the ever present threat that electric cars will make internal combustion engines obsolete soon.
But vhin fnse hain 1000cc(turbo), 1200cc(NA),1500cc(petrol/diesel/turbo and NA) and last 2000cc(petrol NA, Diesel jo sirf Tucson mein aata) Foreign market mein bhut hi zyda hain 1.6 turbo, 2200cc hybrid....etc
Ideally they need to have different tax brackets for different pollution levels. And for mileage they should have lesser and lesser tax as mileage goes up so that car manufacturers focus on efficiency to ACTUALLY reduce oil imports and reduce pollution. Slabs could be 16 km/L +, 23 km/L +, 27 km/L+, and 32 km/L+ The hope would be that 27 and 32 would push hybrids which are the REAL SOLUTIONS for not only India, but the whole world.
I think your Review is wrong. Desire of than Gov was to encourage Co. to manufacture & offer concession to Sub 4 mts Cars to make it affordable. And reduce import of Big Cars with bigger capacity Engines. Unlike your views. The Biggest Positive is India have become globally the 3rd largest Car Market & has provided jobs lacs of people in India. In fact India has reduced foreign imports millions with localisation. And helped Indians setup manufacturing units of Car components & provided jobs to millions. Like Congress do not spread Negatives agendas.
Issi karno se kaha jaata he ki ye IAS bureaucracy system ek fail & outdated system he.... Kyu ki BA , Bcom , history & litrature me bechlor kiya hua IAS govt. Me upsc ki sirf ek exam deke retirement tak ya koi fertilizer company ka MD banaya jata he ya power energy sector me secratary & defence production ka secratary ban jaata he ... air india ke MDs banaye jaate he ....fir jis chiz ka koi knowledge nahi uss institution ko sirf upsc exam clear kar ke boss ban jaate he ....fir ye log uss field ke experts ko bhi khud ke saamne kuchh nahi samjate.....fir ase hi ye log wo institute ko dubate he ya fir ase hi prediction & unrealistic report bana ke ase decision lete he jo fail proove hote he.... So har ek ministry & psu me uss Field ke expert hi lead karne chahiye / secratary hone chahiye.... economics background wala science & atomic energy ka secratary ho & engineer background wala buisness & corporate ya food ministry me secratary banaye jaate rahe ho to ase hi decision backfire hote he.....
The figures on fuel import is not a correct measure to look at things. A lot of energy imports are used for electricity generation also. If we have to grow the economy at 8%, energy needs will grow atleast 30-35% per year
Our policy formulators have a strict myopic vision, time n again they’ve failed to foresee any problem or solution either Best example is our transportation mantri ji who’s wagging his stick against hydrocarbon vehicles without providing any concrete solution
Understand the difference between correlation and causation , what if all the rules you are talking about didnt happen... can you say with a garantee that traffic will be less? Pollution will be less? Oil import will be less? Manufacturers will use better engines in cheaper cars?
OUR INDIAN-MADE SWIFT DZIRE LOOKS AWKWARD ON SAUDI ROADS JUST BECAUSE OF THE SHOT LENGTH. WHY THIS RULE? JUST ANOTHER 20 CM MAKE ALL THESE VEHICLES LOOK GOOD.
Indian car manufacturers 'forced to design & sell" under 4 mtr cars that are ugly & very difficult to sell these ugly models any overseas market too Cars world over are taxed on the basis of their engine capacity not length. Indian govt needs to change our car taxation policy
Exactly, sub 4 meter cars, especially sedans in India are disgustingly UGLY & without export markets for the models, they will NEVER achieve economy of scale & lowering prices for the Indian market either.
Bhai ekdum bakwas video, no logic whatsoever. Sub 4 m ke karan he pollution and congestion control hua hain. Agar ye nahi kiya hota to aaj bhi utne he gaadi hote bus with bigger engine and larger size creating problems.
government policies generally fail.. because beuracrats and politicians come up with a solution in which they wont have to solve the problem but transfer the problem to other stakeholders who dont have the control to implement the real solution 😂
Ek to compact car banaane ke decision, doosra petrol engines with ≤ 1200cc displacement aur ≤ 1500cc displacement me less ya no tax. Maane ki woh 1200cc ke engine me 4-cylinder ke jagah 3-cylinder engine hote to kitna pollute karte, because 1200cc 3 cylinder engine me 400cc displacement per cylinder hote, aur jitna zyada displacement per cylinder, utna zyada pollution aur fuel consumption. Haal I me Maruti Suzuki ne 1.2L K series engine ko bandh karke 1.2L Z series engine laaye hai Swift me. Maruti ke 1.2L K series engine ek 4 cylinder engine hai, toh woh 300cc per cylinder hai, aur Maruti ke 1.2L Z series engine ek 3 cylinder engine hai jisse pata chala ki 400cc per cylinder hai. Union Budget minister ne yeh cheez nahi dekha. 😠😡😤.
Taxes on petrol diesel New car purchased tax Pollution tax Insurance tax Service Gst Tax in SERVICE STATION. if Car owner need spare parts of car then u need to pay tax on car parts Moral: Goverment is getting taxes in numberial of ways in automobile
Analysis is not correct. Considering the population growth, availability of auto finance, increase in income and mainly no reliable mass transport system in cities is the cause of more sale of cars.
China with electric vehical tech and infra, with renewable energy just did something miraculous which india will not be achieved till next 20 year, and in next 20 year china might come with more new tech
India needs sub 3 metre 4 wheelers at lower Tax bracket. Like the original Austin/Morris MINI. Have lowest tax for cars with smallest foot print as well smaller cc engine to ensure smaller carbon footprint as well. Simultaneously different BS number too could be sold at different tax rates. That is more polluting more tax. Less polluting less tax RATE. A Mercedes-Benz might be less polluting per CC but as it's cost may be 100 times of a Maruti M800 so at a higher tax ONE Mercedes-Benz will yield two hundred to three hundred times the GST of a M800. So government exercise of reducing inequality can be implemented in a small way.
Hybrid, Hybrid, Hybrid, Hybrid... This is what India needs. This sub 4 meter rule needs to be changed & engine capacity should not be limited.
That was an offer I think not a rule.

This is indeed an essay!
Lets start with what I agree in this video:
1. Our government should incentivize hybrids more.
2. Improvement in safty and quality standards of cars is required like not manufacturing plastic engines and tin boxes.
3. Overreliance on cars is detrimental, like in the US ( but we don’t have a solution, so it’s somewhat required)
Now with the disagreements (unfortunately a lot and mostly based on that youtube video about what america got wrong with cars and other videos)
5. Large cars create a lot of problems for any country:
But vhin fnse hain 1000cc(turbo), 1200cc(NA),1500cc(petrol/diesel/turbo and NA) and last 2000cc(petrol NA, Diesel jo sirf Tucson mein aata)
Foreign market mein bhut hi zyda hain 1.6 turbo, 2200cc hybrid....etc
Put a cap on emissions and fuel efficiency. Incentivize hybrids. Easy.
Your research is good & also the explanation bro ❤
Ideally they need to have different tax brackets for different pollution levels. And for mileage they should have lesser and lesser tax as mileage goes up so that car manufacturers focus on efficiency to ACTUALLY reduce oil imports and reduce pollution. Slabs could be 16 km/L +, 23 km/L +, 27 km/L+, and 32 km/L+
The hope would be that 27 and 32 would push hybrids which are the REAL SOLUTIONS for not only India, but the whole world.
This rule destroyed innovation in better and affordable family cars segment
USA ka car market badhiya hai, wo log jeisi chahiye weisi gadiya banate hai
Now need to focus hybrid tech and global design car only
Gariyoon ki kafi sare video youtube me available hain paar ye video bhed saal se alag nikla
Sorry to say but most of the points in this video are leading to wrong assumptions.
Issi karno se kaha jaata he ki ye IAS bureaucracy system ek fail & outdated system he....
Kyu ki BA , Bcom , history & litrature me bechlor kiya hua IAS govt. Me upsc ki sirf ek exam deke retirement tak ya koi fertilizer company ka MD banaya jata he ya power energy sector me secratary & defence production ka secratary ban jaata he ... air india ke MDs banaye jaate he ....fir jis chiz ka koi knowledge nahi uss institution ko sirf upsc exam clear kar ke boss ban jaate he ....fir ye log uss field ke experts ko bhi khud ke saamne kuchh nahi samjate.....fir ase hi ye log wo institute ko dubate he ya fir ase hi prediction & unrealistic report bana ke ase decision lete he jo fail proove hote he....
So har ek ministry & psu me uss Field ke expert hi lead karne chahiye / secratary hone chahiye.... economics background wala science & atomic energy ka secratary ho & engineer background wala buisness & corporate ya food ministry me secratary banaye jaate rahe ho to ase hi decision backfire hote he.....
India mein car ki length nahin balki population control law implement karne ki need thi .
3:59 sarkari Naukri ki tarah competition 😂😂
😄😄
Rule to make car's affordable not for polution
Problem is not rule
It's affordability n population
1000cc ke niche car ko sub 3.5 karke excise duty 2-3% karna chahie sab change ho jaega
Only motive that was not envisioned but met was that of parking on roads and other places.
Kya ye sub 4m rule change ho skta hai future me?
Smaller engine does not mean better mileage. Smaller engine have less torque, so they have to rev higher which means lower mileage
The figures on fuel import is not a correct measure to look at things. A lot of energy imports are used for electricity generation also. If we have to grow the economy at 8%, energy needs will grow atleast 30-35% per year
Our policy formulators have a strict myopic vision, time n again they’ve failed to foresee any problem or solution either
Best example is our transportation mantri ji who’s wagging his stick against hydrocarbon vehicles without providing any concrete solution
Khud madharjhaanth!! Politicians nahi chlate inpe 😅
But Honda did it with Product Elevate
Understand the difference between correlation and causation , what if all the rules you are talking about didnt happen... can you say with a garantee that traffic will be less? Pollution will be less? Oil import will be less? Manufacturers will use better engines in cheaper cars?
OUR INDIAN-MADE SWIFT DZIRE LOOKS AWKWARD ON SAUDI ROADS JUST BECAUSE OF THE SHOT LENGTH. WHY THIS RULE? JUST ANOTHER 20 CM MAKE ALL THESE VEHICLES LOOK GOOD.
Indian Government 😂
Video presentation is good but informations are not up to the mark. Data research was not adequate.
I think we should instead start KEI cars like Japan instead of the 4m length.
Instead of incentivising small or sub 4m cars, rather govt should focus on incentivising Hybrid cars.
Can you post the title in Hindi if you are going to speak in that language. I am interested in this topic but couldn't understand a bit
Acha information hai
Crappy analysis!
Creta kahan se sub 4 meter me aagyi? Wrong list h ye 0:38
Population and sales left the group 😂😂😂😂 5:44
Govt of India be like : karm krne gya tha, kaand hi ho gya 😂😂
Pata nshi q par har problem k root cause jab v dhund te he end me ek hi party ata he kaungrace 😅
Govt.ko chahiye public transport sab ke liye free kiya jaye.
Sub 4 metre destroyed the beautiful cars
The dumbest rule that doesn't solve any problem in India.
Indian car manufacturers 'forced to design & sell" under 4 mtr cars that are ugly & very difficult to sell these ugly models any overseas market too
Cars world over are taxed on the basis of their engine capacity not length.
Indian govt needs to change our car taxation policy
Exactly, sub 4 meter cars, especially sedans in India are disgustingly UGLY & without export markets for the models, they will NEVER achieve economy of scale & lowering prices for the Indian market either.
Bhai ekdum bakwas video, no logic whatsoever.
Sub 4 m ke karan he pollution and congestion control hua hain.
Agar ye nahi kiya hota to aaj bhi utne he gaadi hote bus with bigger engine and larger size creating problems.
government policies generally fail.. because beuracrats and politicians come up with a solution in which they wont have to solve the problem but transfer the problem to other stakeholders who dont have the control to implement the real solution 😂
Ek to compact car banaane ke decision, doosra petrol engines with ≤ 1200cc displacement aur ≤ 1500cc displacement me less ya no tax. Maane ki woh 1200cc ke engine me 4-cylinder ke jagah 3-cylinder engine hote to kitna pollute karte, because 1200cc 3 cylinder engine me 400cc displacement per cylinder hote, aur jitna zyada displacement per cylinder, utna zyada pollution aur fuel consumption.
Haal I me Maruti Suzuki ne 1.2L K series engine ko bandh karke 1.2L Z series engine laaye hai Swift me. Maruti ke 1.2L K series engine ek 4 cylinder engine hai, toh woh 300cc per cylinder hai, aur Maruti ke 1.2L Z series engine ek 3 cylinder engine hai jisse pata chala ki 400cc per cylinder hai.
Union Budget minister ne yeh cheez nahi dekha. 😠😡😤.
Bullshit, your logic doesn’t make sense
Taxes on
petrol
diesel
New car purchased tax
Pollution tax
Insurance tax
Service Gst Tax in SERVICE STATION.
if Car owner need spare parts of car then u need to pay tax on car parts
Moral:
Goverment is getting taxes in numberial of ways in automobile
00:36 SIRF CRETA AUR SCORPIO HI HAI .............. AUR PUNCH TO 3M SE V CHOTI HAI
Jb tkk population barti rahegi tkk tkk sabb kush barega phir vo pollution ho ya economic ho ja phir desh ke taraki ho
This is called witch hunting..
Ur living in ur own wonderland
Did the gvt. Also told their intentions to you also
Bhai Toll tax, petrol se jayada mahnga ho gaya h😅
Analysis is not correct. Considering the population growth, availability of auto finance, increase in income and mainly no reliable mass transport system in cities is the cause of more sale of cars.
Many videos have very annoying khuduk khuduk clicking sound. Very bad.
China with electric vehical tech and infra, with renewable energy just did something miraculous which india will not be achieved till next 20 year, and in next 20 year china might come with more new tech
Vedio mai data ko galat tarike se show.kiya gaya..hain..
4m rule is a good rule for india
पी. चिदंबरम यांची दूरदृष्टी 😂
1200 cc engine को turbo लगाकर ज्यादा पॉवर मिलती हैं
World Mai Sub 4 Meter Popular Hai Kay ?
Comparing i20 (petrol car) milage with Toyota Hybrid Car... wow what a comparison...😅😅😅
Have some common sense before making such car video...
They dont want middle class to buy lengthy car. Laagan by east India Modani company
Bhai population kam krne pr bnao vdo
Less population me sabko fayda h
P chidambaram ne yahi socha ...Indai garibon ka desh hai kon hi lega cars..yahi soch uske bum m ghus gai 😅😅😅
bhai jab anpad lok jinko koi knowledge nahi vo log desh chlayenge to yehi hoga naa bhai😂😂
अनपढ़ tax system automobile sector को डुबो रहा है
