Their products are really nice, but their customer service SUCKS. They constantly lie about what’s in stock and what’s shipped, months late. Do yourself a favour and find other companies to deal with. SPE is unreliable as a seller.
One of the stupid yellow nipples on my yellow drain plugcap thingie broke off awhile back, I was being gentle with it so now when I do a filter change the yellow thing falls out when I loosen it. I didn’t know spe made these replacements so I’ll be looking into getting one on the next filter change probably. Gg. Ty sir.
Put one on last filter change, went to replace the filter last week and it wouldn’t stop draining. It’s almost like it was creating a vacuum since it doesn’t have the center breather like the oem.
Has nuthin to do with a breather. NEXT TIME, as your draining....crack all of the 5 bolts loose. Not loose to start draining fuel...loose enough to let that "sucktion" release...you'll see what I'm talking about...
I just installed one a few weeks ago when I did my fuel filter change, no issues so far. I replaced it just for piece of mind and kept the factory one as a spare.
My green one is arriving tomorrow along with the disaster prevention kit they make I’m replacing the plastic one based on winters and don’t like plastic brittle parts when you want to drain the separator thanks for the videos
The factory knobs "stick". Its like they get locked shut and you have to apply so much pressure to open it that plastic just snaps...especially if its cold outside. They normally break during the opening. While closing I think the diesel fuel lubricates it so no issue re installing.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I dunno either. Ive never broke mine since 2017 but I know a couple guys that have and it appears to happen during the opening of the valve.
I bought one! And a low temp thermostat. Amy was a tremendous help with my order. Messed up the t-shirt part of my order, though. Good quality stuff for my F450!
I broke off the little tabs on my yellow one on the 2020 Super Duty I havw. I don't think these factory one's are very good or safe. I put on this new one and it is working fine. Seems to be much stronger
Drained my WIF today then when i looked in the container there was one of those yellow nipples from the drain/ broken off in the container. Does that mean it’s going to fall out now and I can’t run the truck until i get a new drain cap?
Just finished reading all 154 comments.I know some of these videos are old but they are all new to me as is my 2020 F250. I was thinking about getting this drain but now I will not. Please keep it up. Didn't you put a SPE upper filter mod on? I remember watching a video of that, but can't remember if it was you.
I have a question for you I have a 2018 F-450 Ford it has 33,000 miles on it there is a noise coming out of the back end what is the protocol to isolate the noise to figure it out if it's the inside gears what do you start with to isolate to figure out what it is I felt a pop sound in the rear end which went through my seat and in the steering wheel it sounded like gear to gear also do you have a video on rebuilding an F-350 or 450 rear end I tried reaching out to you by email unsuccessful
OK, SD-PS newbie here. How often do we (on the west coast where the average humidity is less than 30%) need to drain this? I never had to on my old Duramax.
Did drain mine, no water in the Fuel. But am still waiting on a Fuel cap from the local dealer after 3 weeks. My cap is Black, with like 3/4 threads, was sent a fuel cap that was white with 1 thread. how many different fuel caps do they use on a 2020 F-350 Lariat?
I just order one , Question to you what do you think about the fuel prevention system, they have SPE it’s worth it , I have 2017, and I’m undecided to put it on
Is there a "manufacturer" approved aftermarket fuel filter conversion for the frame mounted and engine bay filters? I would love to switch my '19 over to spin on filters and not risk voiding the factory warranty and the factory extended warranty.
Looks very nicely machined. I hope they properly spec'd the o-ring polymer for diesel fuel, I haven't seen many compatible that were black. How much are these valves?
I was always worried about the factory one and actually decided to drain the fuel water separator in my driveway and it broke on me🤦♀️. I bought the spe one, I'm so glad it didn't leave me stranded somewhere.
ARod. I broke the original drain valve, watched your video ordered SPE drain valve. Read the comments, and canceled the order being they were negative and your opinion has changed. SPE ships the drain valve 3+ hours after my email request. Now charging me a restocking fee after I pay to ship them their shitty part. Guys don’t order from SPE! Learn from my mistake!
Might want to update the description in this video. I'm pretty sure in latter videos you removed this and other SPE products from your trucks. Thanks PTT for the great content.
I thought about replacing the factory one with this one, The reason I did not, I would rather the plastic ear on the factory drain break than the bottom half of the fuel filter housing. I have 2 spares I keep in the truck just to be safe. The factory ones are only like $3.
Great point. I tried to replace mine with the SPE one and the housing cracked while removing the factory yellow valve. Lower assembly is over $200 and came with the valve installed, so I left everything stock on the replacement. And yes, I was being careful since both parts are plastic.
I keep a spare yellow one in the glove box. The SPE part looks great, I would be worried there is a chance of breaking the bottom of the fuel filter housing now if one is a little too rough. Thanks for the video and podcasts.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I like mine. Heck, I love all my SPE stuff. I changed mine just so I didn't have to worry about if mine broke on a Sunday and I'm SOL. Have you tried contacting Ronnie on results may vary channel? He works for them and maybe able to get you in contact with Dan or Amy.
Last fuel filter change for me I noticed the factory one was quite beat up with rocks, so I drained the fuel via the water in fuel sensor. Twists out quite easy. And also drains the filter much faster Lol
Thanks for sharing! Design, ruggedness and color all look on point and make me want to get one. Curious how messy it will be for the monthly preventative burps to make sure water isn’t accumulating. As weak as the yellow one seems, it sure drains nice into a clear 16 or 20oz bottle or small mason jar. This one seems like it might be dripping all over the place....
I got one installed, metal seemed better than plastic. I got bad fuel once and had to drain the separator on side the road and re-prime the system. The last thing you want is for the drain “tits” to break and you’re screwed. My old one never failed, but now I know it won’t.
ARod I was thinking about getting one for my truck. But was kinda was a bit afraid that it might take a month to get it like the cp4 disaster kit did. More likely I will get one.

Since the '11 to '16 trucks use plastic style knob drains as well, I wonder if the aftermarket has come out with a better replacement for those as well?
