Chieh-Ching Yen Thank you so much. you're blessed. I've spent long time looking for this ingredients list on web, and i simply didn't found. Thanks again.
The amount of different spices needed is what makes indian food so distinctive and flavourful. And also the reason why i could never get myself to cook one myself haha
+boy638 don't be discouraged! I'm Polish and I used to eat loads of cabbage and pork at home (yeesh) and now I'm cooking anything!! Go out and buy the colorful spices. They are rather inexpensive :D
Been dying to make this so took a stab at transcribing the recipe. I'm from the US, so apologies to the metric loving rest of the world. I dug through the comments too and added some notes of things @foodwithchetna recommended when ingredients couldn't be found. I'm sure I messed up here and there. Chicken Marinade 1/2 cup natural yogurt 1/2 tsp turmeric 1 tsp kasmiri chili powder (or 1/2 tsp regular chili powder) 1/2 tsp garam masala 1 tsp salt 4 cloves garlic (grated) thumb-sized piece ginger (grated) 1 tbs mustard oil (or sunflower) 1.5lbs - 2lbs boneless chicken breast (sliced in to strips) Combine all ingredients above, making sure to coat all of the chicken. Cover and put in the fridge for minimum 2 hours, but preferably overnight. Cashew Marinade Combine 2oz cashews and 2oz of whole milk and soak for the same amount of time as the chicken marinates. ---- Preheat oven to 400F. Lay the chicken flat in a baking dish coated with vegetable oil. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes to get it golden brown and careful not to let it burn. While the chicken is cooking... Make the sauce. Heat some vegetable oil in a skillet over low-medium heat. Add the following whole spices: 1 tsp cumin seeds a few bay leaves a few black cardamom pods a few green cardamom pods 1 cinnamon stick Let it cook while you roughly chop 2 onions and a few green chili sand add to the veggie oil, sautee the onions for 5-7 minutes on low-medium heat. While the onions are cooking... Grate 3 cloves garlic and small nubbin of ginger in to the onions and cook for a few minutes. Then add 5 chopped tomatoes and cook for 10-15 minutes on medium-low, covered. Add 4 tablespoons tomato paste and chopped cilantro stalks (more flavor then leaves). Cover and cook for 10 minutes... Mix these spices to the sauce and cook for a few minutes: 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp kasmiri chili powder 1 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp turmeric Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and mix it in. Grind the cashew nuts and milk in to a paste and add to the sauce. If at any time you ever feel it is too dry and you need more water, feel free to add. Optionally, square some onion and green pepper for extra crunch. Stir in 2oz of heavy cream (I don't know what double cream is). Top with chopped cilantro leaves. You can take the whole spices out, but it is traditional to leave the in.
This is a great recipe! I cooked this for several people and they loved it. But with recipes that are so long with so many ingredients it would be really helpful to have a summary and a shopping list somewhere. Like I had to watch it 6 times and write down everything in order to be able to cook this dish...
Hey guys am from India and am myself an culinary student this recpie is perfect ppl those who have concern with spices jst remember triple c powder that is chilly, coriander and cumin powder this 3 major spice goes in each every indian dish also garam masala powder you can skip the whole spice and for gravy you must have onions and tomato
I just made it for our 6 years anniversary and it turned out wonderful. I took the cloves and bayleaves out before adding the tomatoes so that we wouldn't bite on any but the flavour had already been absorbed by the oil so it was fine. Thanks for this great recipe!
This lady is so lovely. I am very glad Jamie and his team push other great but unfortunately less known chefs into the spotlight. Thank you for this. And I will for sure be keeping my eye on the other recipes that miss Chetna shares with us. :)
Just watching I can almost taste it. I hate cooking, but I love chicken tikka masala, and this doesn't seem so difficult that I couldn't do it. Thanks, Chetna.
Ground coriander, turmeric, garam masala, Kashmiri chilli powder. All of them will be in your local supermarket if you're British, but you might have to go to your Indian/Pakistani supermarket for the Kashmiri chilli powder.
Cor!!, that looks like a curry not to be missed, Chetna is a natural at the presenting, certainly will be following her channel, great find Food Tube, Thank You.
This looks really doable, and I already have most of the spices - just one question: how differend do black and green cardamom taste? I wasn't even aware there were differenent types
+ananym they taste totally different! black cardamom is really strong and only used for savoury dishes whereas green cardamom is sweeter and therefore used in sweet and savoury food, hope you will give this a go!
I spent 8 months working as a cook in a cruise ship. I worked with a lor of indians, and it is amazing the way they cook. So comfy and homy. This recepie I never tasted like that, but I definitaly will. Tnx for share!
Another winner. Absolutely delicious and better than a lot restaurant Indian food I've had. A few steps here and I messed up the kitchen a bit but it's easy to follow and as always with a Chetna recipe, the result is FANTASTIC. Thank you, Chetna and thanks Jamie!
Wow! I'm definitely going to make this. There aren't many Indian restaurants where I live, so I love to cook traditional dishes like this myself, and I'm definitely adding this to the recipe book.
The myriad of spices that go into an Indian curry. and the multitude of permutations that result, have always been an enigma to me. Thank you for shedding light on this highly complex cuisine! I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled and attempt your recipes some time.
Absolutely loved this recipe last night! The chicken tikka was delicious and the sauce was very tasty too. We would love to have more recipes like this! Xxx
Made this tonight. No mustard oil and used a chilli powder other than Kashmiri but I think I can say that this was the best Chicken Tikka Masala I have ever had :-) Excellent Recipe Chetna!
We made this recipe for dinner a few weeks ago. Delicious! My first attempt at making Indian food at home and the result was just perfect. Thank you! I equally enjoyed the cooking process and rediscovering my spice cabinet in a whole new way.
I just tried the recipe today and my SO loves it! I am glad I got to try this recipe out. Keep the cooking videos coming! Note: you could have probably mention how long it takes for the onion and tomato to turn into a brown paste. Didn't expect that at all.
Beautiful music, made the video even better. It is always a pleasure watching your video Chetna, love your soft coaxing explanations filled with such warmth ,which heightens the food sensuality to a different level. Just watching it for the sheer pleasure of the video itself ,yet again.Thank you.
Dear Chetna I would like to show my deepest appreciation for this video I imitated 98% of the way you presented and I shared the food to the kids and neighbor's they loved it on Valentine's day as a gift. I have nothing but love and gratitude for the teachings Thank you
Wow! Delicious. I am going to use cashew nut purée in other exotic dishes from the Mediterranean and Arab cuisine. I think it will blend nicely with those. TY
we usually use roasted nuts with our food, they add a nice crunch to it. but i don't think we use nut purees in our recipe only desserts and sweets maybe
That green pepper at 3:15, that is not a spicy kind right? Also, I want to add more vegetables to this dish, what would you recommend and what spices would be good on those veggies? Also, how big is your teaspoon??? Some of those portions seemed huge!
Did this recipe today but a vegetarian version (marinaded some cauliflower steaks instead of chicken breasts) it was one of the tastiest curries I’ve had and the healthiest. Leaving the tomatoes cook gives such a rich savoury flavour. I always trust Chetna’s recipes and this is one of my favourites of hers. Thank you Chetna
This is honestly the first time I have seen someone make Indian food right on any cooking channel. This was lovely !!! PS: You look stunning with that hair :D !! Its totally cool :D.
This was my first Indian dish I ever made. I had so much fun making it with all the spices. My husband loved it! The video was very helpful. Thank you!
Cooked this today! Really good! I cooked the chicken on skewers on the BBQ. Worked really well. Recommended, well done Chetna for a great meal. Worth subscribing to her UA-cam collection.
I just made this vegan by using coconut yoghurt in the marinade and using more cashews in oat milk instead of cream!! for the chicken I used 'THIS isn't chicken salt and pepper pieces'- expensive but worth it. I really miss chicken tikka masala ready meals from supermarkets since going veggie and this tastes really similar in the best way possible, super rich and flavorful, and obviously infinitely better for u! Thanks for the recipe Chetna!
Made this recipe last night. Couldn't get mustard oil (used a tbsp. Of Dijon instead) and Kashmiri chilli (used Mexican). It was a big hit with the family. Thank you for sharing!!!
I tried out this recipe last night and everyone who tasted it was thrilled. Thank you, Chetna, for sharing insight into your skills and the culinary heritage of a great culture.
Looks so good! Any suggestions for alternatives to Kashmiri chilli powder? Maybe I'm spelling it wrong but it was mentioned in the butter chicken video and I can't find it anywhere
Various layers of flavors super tasty, very beautiful dish with brazilian ingredient cashew nut ohhh yes!!!! Thank you for sharing you recipe and welcome for Food Tube family Chetna!
Did it for the first time yesterday evening and it was a big success. I found it very easy to follow. My first time ever with an Indian recipe! If anything, it would be used to have lost of ingredients with suggested quantities upfront. Thank you Chetna. I liked this very much and you are very photogenic. :-)
Hi Chetana, I believe u wud be abroad and I like the way you explained it...So simple to understand and motivating others to cook...Feels easy but lets see as I am gonna trying this tomm..Hope it comes out good...thanks
Oh Chetna! Chetna Chetna Chetna! I just made this.... the BEST dinner ever!!!!! So tasty, I didn’t even marinate the chicken for long. The cashews give a wonderful thickness and texture to the sauce. Thank you 🙏🏼🥰💖❤️💕😋
It's a regular teaspoon size. May be it seems large because it's zoomed in. But the quantities are definitely going to be the same as mentioned in the video.
This is defo the best recipe I've seen on chicken tikka masala. I would personally use almonds in place of the cashew due to my cashews and pistachio allergy.
That looks stunning :) Must try this for myself sometime, surprise friends. Nobody expects a guy living on his own to make something like this without the use of tinned curry.
Hey Chetna, the presentation is fabulous and so is the recipe. Looks absolutely mouthwatering. I am going to try this out as soon as I get a chance to do so. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chetna. I miss your cool jewelry. Thanks for the instruction. Good to see you again! Cook on!
Been dying to make this so took a stab at transcribing the recipe. I'm from the US, so apologies to the metric loving rest of the world. I dug through the comments too and added some notes of things @foodwithchetna recommended when ingredients couldn't be found. I'm sure I messed up here and there.
Chicken Marinade
1/2 cup natural yogurt
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp kasmiri chili powder (or 1/2 tsp regular chili powder)
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp salt
4 cloves garlic (grated)
thumb-sized piece ginger (grated)
1 tbs mustard oil (or sunflower)
1.5lbs - 2lbs boneless chicken breast (sliced in to strips)
Combine all ingredients above, making sure to coat all of the chicken. Cover and put in the fridge for minimum 2 hours, but preferably overnight.
Cashew Marinade
Combine 2oz cashews and 2oz of whole milk and soak for the same amount of time as the chicken marinates.

Preheat oven to 400F.
Lay the chicken flat in a baking dish coated with vegetable oil. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes to get it golden brown and careful not to let it burn.
While the chicken is cooking... Make the sauce.
Heat some vegetable oil in a skillet over low-medium heat. Add the following whole spices:
1 tsp cumin seeds
a few bay leaves
a few black cardamom pods
a few green cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
Let it cook while you roughly chop 2 onions and a few green chili sand add to the veggie oil, sautee the onions for 5-7 minutes on low-medium heat.
Mix these spices to the sauce and cook for a few minutes:
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp kasmiri chili powder
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp turmeric
Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and mix it in.

My family loves this type of curry!!! Thanks so much for sharing!
That green pepper at 3:15, that is not a spicy kind right?
Also, I want to add more vegetables to this dish, what would you recommend and what spices would be good on those veggies?
Also, how big is your teaspoon??? Some of those portions seemed huge!
Looks like the best tikka masala I've ever seen!! 😍😍
+Anastasia Raisborough Awwww thank you so much!

Love this recipe Chetna!
What's a good substitute for Mustard Oil? Or where could i find it?!
+Fiona Heath You could just use sunflower oil instead!
I just made this vegan by using coconut yoghurt in the marinade and using more cashews in oat milk instead of cream!! for the chicken I used 'THIS isn't chicken salt and pepper pieces'- expensive but worth it. +Pär Stenberg Damn straight it does.
Yaay, Indian food on FoodTube!
+Yousei85 YES!
+Yousei85 WOOHOO!
Looks so good! Any suggestions for alternatives to Kashmiri chilli powder? Maybe I'm spelling it wrong but it was mentioned in the butter chicken video and I can't find it anywhere
+josh mcgee You can use normal chilli powder but half the amount. It will give you the same taste but less colour.
+josh mcgee
If you live in the u.s try and find a store called Patel Brothers in your area they sell Indian spices there.
If you're in the US, Kashmiri equals paprika and a little cayenne. Our "chili powder" is smokey with almost no heat.
Yum. I love a good curry. And this one looks amazing. Thanks Chetna and hi!
+Ladbrooke77 Hello!!!! hope you will give this a go!
+Ladbrooke77 It's a GOODEN.
It's Chetna! I saw her on a British baking show- how cool

Hello, I don't want to appear lazy but does anyone have a written recipe for this ?
Thanks.
Check tikka Masala recipe on Indian hotpot. It's simple and easy

Oh Chetna! Chetna Chetna Chetna! I just made this.... the BEST dinner ever!!!!! So tasty, I didn’t even marinate the chicken for long. The cashews give a wonderful thickness and texture to the sauce. Thank you 🙏🏼🥰💖❤️💕😋
0:50 you must have GIANT teaspoons in your kitchen, holy guacamole
Hapi djus Maybe she meant tablespoon?
That is a regular teaspoon. You guys must have some small ass spoons...
Google images for teaspoon you fuckwit, they are the same size.

+Daniel Gould do give this a go, your friends will enjoy it!
Ahhhh! It's Chetna from British Bake Off!! Thank you for bringing her on the show!!
Hi Chetna, I'd love to try this! Would using regular chili powder be okay? I'm unable to find kashmiri. Thanks!
+scottie temple yes regular chilli powder is fine, just use half the quantity, you will get the same taste but less colour.
Hey Chetna, the presentation is fabulous and so is the recipe. Looks absolutely mouthwatering. I am going to try this out as soon as I get a chance to do so. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful Tikka Masala Chetna!!
+One Kitchen - A Thousand Ideas Thank you!
Chetna is the best!! I would like to make Indian food like this, but I live in Uruguay and most of the spices just aren't available :(
+Lucía Ayala you can make other curries with just the basic spices!
+Food with Chetna I will give it a try!
+Lucía Ayala You can get most spices really cheap online, just have to look for some dedicated online shops.
It loookkkssss soooo great ! 😱😱😱😱
