300 gr plain flour1/2 tsp baking powder1/2 tsp salt3 tsp olive oil150 ml milk-rest 1 hour -- 2-4 min under the grill medium heat-
That's for a completely plain naan though
Making it as we speak! Dough is made, garlic is peeled, oven is preheating. Can't wait :)
woohoo!
The dough has to rest so I'm sure the timing was fine :)
Tell us how it went! We already waited one year to know!
An excellent professional presentation for all ages. Mature, calm, assured with no mindless celebrity capers, Lady Chetna humbly exudes a serene Confidence with a Loving Joy. And so I have to ask: - "Have we found the new Delia?" I certainly believe so. 'Carry On Cooking Chetna!'
That is so sweet! thank you, glad you like the recipe!
Great recipe!
but I have to say: what a lovely soothing voice you have!
Thanks
I wanted to make a joke about such delicious looking food... but i got naan.
Hahaha
Come on man! Please stop making insensitive jokes about words from our culture. Give respect, take respect.
@@julianbanks1885 y is it insensitive! no probs with that, I'm Asian!
Hahaha
Just made the garlic ones, loved them! Tried with cream cheese on top and it was delicious! I highly recomend it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love Indian food! The first time I tried it I was so in Heaven!
Thanks for this lovely recipe!
Glad you like it!
I shouldn't watch this video. In the middle of the night. Hungry 😂
On the menu for tomorrow then?
+Food with Chetna I need to see if I can use almond milk, but I'm pretty sure I can, so YES! 😸
Me tooo😴😴😴
You can just use water if you don't want to use dairy - enjoy!
I shouldn't of watched this high!
I like the whole milk in the base dough - I usually use yoghurt which means I need to go out and get some. Always have milk, don't always have yoghurt. I'll give it a try.
Woohoo, enjoy!
Made these with some Rogan Josh yesterday. My friends were stunned. This is the first recipe I've used where the naans don't end up dry - hadn't thought of using the grill function of the oven. Do you have a tandoor, Chetna?
Ommmg! Chetna from bake off! So glad to see her on Foodtube!
Thanks!
Wow its a good recipe.. I myself make indian and Pakistani food. Love indian and Pakistani cuisine.
Chetna's recipes are just always awesome!
Thanks a lot!
I made this and it turned out soft yet dense but I really liked it. Half the recipe in the oven and the other half I fried. Nice to enjoy a yeast free recipe. This is so delicious.Thank you!
Fantastic! That naan looks amazing, I want to make it!!!
DOOOO IT!
what non-dairy milk would be a good alternative for the naan?
PS. I really like Chetna, invite her more often please!!
just add water.
You can just add water!
Almond milk is the perfect alternative, not water lol that will make it taste bland.
was that ironic? :P
Any milk would be fine. Coconut, nut etc.
Chetna thank you. I have contemplated making naan here in Germany without a gas stove and just my electric one. But in your video, they turned our nice and airy in the oven too. I'm looking forward to trying this recipe.
Did try..it was delicious...esp the chutney
Take the garlic naan and grate a good amount of Fontana cheese on it. Stick it back under the broiler until the chess melts and is a little bubbly (don't brown the cheese). OMG is it good!!
These are brilliant. Thank you so much ! ☺️
Glad you like them!
in my local indian restaurant I always take peshwari naan, but it's made with coconut and almond. I will definitely try this version at home :)

Elena Suarez this indian lady is not making the naan correctly. I'm really sure that you will love Indian naam in true *indian* way very much. The way she is making is so much different from Indians make.
Yummy
Everything about this is heavenly. I've found myself a project for my lazy day on Sunday... 😌

There really seems to be a million different ways to make naam, the last one I tried used dry-yeast for example, while you used simple bakingsoda.
I'm definitely going to try your way, much simpler and faster.

For roasting the garlic should I use the convection mode?
Delicious! but can tell me what solid is?
I like the Kurdish naan
Thanks for this, I love naan breads, I'm just wondering if the milk is absolutely necessary? Could I use some yoghurt and water instead, and still get classic naan taste? :)
Yes water is fine!
the real trick is coordinating this all with keeping an eye on the rice and the chana masala
seems authentic as hell

yummy! !!
For those of us living in the states what would a medium heat be?
Use self raising flour for garlic nan?
I make mine with yeast and let it rise twice....I also use 1 duck egg.
My microwave has 2options for grillingone is jst simple grill mode and the other is a combi of micro+grill...for making the naans which mode do I go for??
this looks amazing!
hope you will give it a go!
Hi Chetna, will normal, flat non-stick pan works as well?
What brand of pans are you using?
We wonder what the difference between baking powder and yeast is: can someone clarify, when to use the one over the other?
What exactly is medium heat under the grill?
Hannah Plas anyone?
Well my grill has a low and high setting so I take it that it’s in the middle of that
This was really good!!
Thank you
in naan only whit flour is use .....
with brown flour this bread called rotee....
I heard from my friends that Naan needed to be made with yeast. But this recipe doesnt have that. will it be very different? Do u think Naan with yeast taste better? THX
Yes you can make them with yeast too but this is one of my mums recipe and still tastes amazing, do try!
By "under the grill" do you mean broiler or just in the oven?
I made this with whole wheat flour and it came out a bit dry. can you recommend a way to adapt this to whole wheat flour?
You can add some ghee to it to make it softer!
Add more oil and let it rest a bit longer.
Add some yogurt, more oil.
