I make this often and it's the best recipe, restaurant quality, only thing I changed was I put chicken under broiler top rack and get a good sear because in pan yogurt burns and makes black burnt residue from yogurt burning in the pan. Comes out just as good, and I made her garam masala recipe too because I ran out of mine. Delicious recipe

Thank you for giving me the confidence to make my first Indian dish. We moved from a town where there were wonderful Indian restaurants on every corner to one where pizza is considered ethnic food, never mind Indian. So I went ahead and followed this recipe with some modifications because we had leftover chicken, so it was already cooked. And also, I went to the local supermarket for garam masala, and of course they didn't have it, so I made my own!! Pat me on the back! I'm already a good basmati rice maker, so bottom line, the dish is delicious. It's ALMOST as good as one of my favorite Indian take-outs back in my former hometown. (At least according to me.).

I got the Kasoori Methi leaves, fresh cardamom pods, black cumin seeds, organic turmeric, a nice size jar of ginger garlic paste, and as a special treat for me a bag of Bhel Sev which I eat handfuls out of the bag til i learn how to make Samosa Chaat, one of my favorite appetizers when i go out for Indian food. Very delicious, made it tonight. For my own personal taste, I would amp up the spices by 50%. I really like the flavors to be bright, to contrast with the wonderful creaminess. This was a superb recipe. Thank you!

This recipe is amazing!! I’ve made this about 6 times and each time, it is so so delicious and my family is obsessed with it; they beg me to make it! A tip I use to make it a bit healthier is I use coconut milk instead of cream. You can even use reduced fat coconut milk. Coconut milk is naturally creamy without the cream. If I want to add more volume to the stew (I have a family of six), I add about two-three cups of water with the coconut milk and it tastes just as amazing!!

I have been always infatuated with Indian Food, so where ever i lived i always found a good Indian Place to dine at, unfortunately the place where i now live doesnt have any decent Indian restaurants, long story short i decided to make my own chicken masala and came across your recipe and boy oh boy! Simple, tasty and full of flavors! Thank you from the bottom of my heart

this is the umpteenth time I made it. This is the best recipe ever! I went to an Indian grocery store and got ginger paste and garlic and ginger paste a while back. I also got Kasoori Methi, adds a great flavor. I use 1 medium onion, not too big, not too small. I use crushed tomatoes, I use boneless skinless chicken thighs, they have far more flavor than boneless breasts. I use real butter and add extra because I want a rich sauce. The key is making sure you cook those tomatoes til they're fairly dry and all watery signs are gone. Using a non stick pan is ideal for this. I also do not add yogurt to the marinade anymore. It burns and leaves a bad tasting residue as well as black char in the pan. Lemon juice works just as good. Good heavy cream of course gives that lusciousness to the sauce. Sometimes you need to add your own flair to a recipe.

For those looking for meal prep ideas, doubling the recipe is something I am going to do from now on!
