  • On this episode we examine a super overlooked piece in the ever popular, vintage inspired diver segment in the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf. Since the Zodiac brand's revival, they've caught my eye with modest size pieces and standout designs. For this particular reference, the ZO9266, it really just feels like the stars aligned to produce a watch that just 'checks all of the boxes.' Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks guys.

    I loooooove Zodiacs. The Sea Wolf is my favorite watch from them, hands down. The Super Sea Wolf 53 IS my Grail. Say what you want about Rolex, Tag, Omega, etc... I like what I like, and that Zodiac is it. If you ever decide to part with that guy, please let me know. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it 😂😂, but a guy can try lol.

      Search for a vintage Sea Wolf 1781 B in good condition. It is s small watch but the one these reissues are based upon and with some patience and s llt lf searching you may be able to pick one up for $350-$550.

    I really like the look of that Zodiac Jetomatic in the ablogtowatch article. The black and cream dial along with the 5 link bracelet is a killer combo.

    awesome watch . maybe a contender for the oris divers 65, size wise? Really like the Jubilee but the butterfly clasp , not so much . Thanks for the review.

    Have a smaller wrist 6.5 inches so this will work for me. Great review.

    Excellent video and a very interesting watch but I prefer the regular sea dragon.
    I said it already but I will again, I wish you would include the lug to lug measurement at the beginning as it is very important to people with smaller wrists like me

    Excellent video and great watch. Can you try to fit your staib mesh with this watch? I think it will look great!

    Love that clasp, but hate the jubilee style. The previous all brushed bracelet was much nicer for this watch. The clasp is a cool gadget though.

    I saw a green/orange Zodiac Seawolf with a custom stingray band, I had to change my pants that day.

    Thanks for showing this piece.
    I feel most people show off more vintage Zodiac watches, instead. So, this is kind of a different of offering from the norm.
    Overall quite a nice watch. That bracelet with the adjustable spring loaded clasp is pretty cool. BUT, at the same time, the actual Jubilee bracelet itself maybe seems a little out of place. I say that because the Jubilee is quite curved and rounded, where as the clasp and watch case are quite angular or even rectangular. the lugs in particular are quite straight and angular so the curved surfaces of the Jubilee links don't seem to quite match up with the rest of the watch. Other than the Jubilee bracelet links themselves, I think everything else works.
    I dig that movement with swan neck regulator.

    Such a great watch. Absolutely love it. But why the mineral crystal on the bezel? I don’t understand that just like you mentioned it in the video as well 😔

    I am planning to add this to my collections. Question, is the movement produce and made in Switzerland?

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  5 років тому +1

      Correct, for it to be branded Swiss Made, the movement must be, thanks.

    • @Shadowwalker1717
      @Shadowwalker1717 5 років тому +1

      Yes the movement is swiss made. And similiar to ETA 2824-2.

    Just got mine and love it. However, I was disappointed to find mine did not have the “53” on the end of Super Sea Wolf name on the dial. I called Zodiac but haven’t heard anything back yet.

      I just bought mine today and just noticed that, I wonder if they updated it. I kinda like it without the 53

      @@nothinleader You’re right, it’s growing on me. Just hope it’s not a compromise on anything else; like the movement. I understand it’s supposed to be an STP 3-13. I loose about 5 seconds a day and hope the “ goose neck” adjustment”’will improve on that a bit ( for future maintenance). Still love it though.

      @@ronyc3270 If you have a timegrapher, and the right sized screwdriver (.08 worked), it will only take you 5 minutes to regulate it yourself. WAY easier to do with the swan neck than having to take half the movement apart on a ETA 2824, Sellita SW200, or even the STP 1-01.

    Does the rotor spin around when you hand-wind the crown?

    • @Shadowwalker1717
      @Shadowwalker1717 5 років тому

      No Automatic watches only move the rotor by moving your hand. The crown is the other way to wound it up.

    What is the point of the little orange triangles on the bezel at 3,6,9 and 12 minutes?? Weird

      I’m a certified diver, and it’s always recommended to perform a 2 to 3 minute “safety stop” around 15’ below the surface before fully surfacing. So, it’s an easy way to ensure you do a proper safety stop, so you don’t die from the Bends.

    I remember in the late 80's and early 90's Zodiac has a line of models that resembles Tag Heuers I used to drool over them at a local watch store. Ive seen also their other clasic designs, now I dont know what they are making and most of them are also quartz. What are the people at the top of this company are doing? Not maintaining their heritage.
