Correction in my final statement, I used the word “understated” but meant that Zodiac is an “underrated” brand. Their designs are quite bold and colorful and not understated at all lol. What are your thoughts about Zodiac watches? Drop me a comment! 👇👇👇
I have owned a couple, don't have any currently. I fell in love with their Sherbet LE. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of their STP movements, but love their designs. Nice video.
The only thing I know about Zodiac is from Random Rob's channel. I wish your watch was more accurate, It deserves a service. Still I like the brand. The lumed bezels got me 🍉 One day maybe.
I guess zodiac learned some fashion tastes from its parent company fossil. Very colorful and playful models, but average quality for the price. I do see some deep discounts here and there. Hopefully that is not the beginning of the end to zodiac...
Thanks for your review! I have the original reissue of the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 Skin (jubilee bracelet with detachable clasp). I bought it 5 years ago used for $750.00. It was my only watch for about 2.5 years. It has been a bullet-proof timepiece! It's been in the ocean, on hikes in the mountains... I've worn it during moves, yardwork, and under some pretty extreme conditions where it has been knocked around quite a bit. It's currently running at about +1 sec per day and has never been serviced. It's also extremely versatile and looks great on almost any strap. It can be dressed up or down and is my go-to dress watch, especially on a leather strap. A Havana brown lizard grain and also a Panatime black leather w/ white stitch are two "knockout" pairings. I also have an original Tropic Star that looks great on it! The bracelet is extremely comfortable and I love how the clasp stretches about 1.5 mm to allow for expansion of the wrist. I'm not fond of the orange lume on the new version. Mine has C3 green superluminova and still glows like a torch! I feel like Zodiac hasn't gotten a lot of love from the watch community, probably because they're owned by the Fossil group. But yet they produce everything in-house and supply movements to many microbrands. My opinion is that the Stp 1-11 is an improvement over the ETA 2824 in that it has a longer power reserve (44hrs) and you don't have to worry about hand-winding it like with the 2824.
Wow! That is awesome to hear about your experience with your original super sea wolf! You really put it to the test with all the adventures you took it on and to be worn daily for many years, great to hear it’s held up so well! Definitely is a strap monster and you bring up great points about the movement upgrade. I do wish they did the standard luminova for better longevity on these updated models. Cheers! 😎👍
Thanks for the opportunity to handle this one and for the shout-out! Stellar video man, so good. Shame about the lume, I wondered how strong (or lacking) it was, but still a sharp piece!
Thanks Chris! You helped me give this watch a unique story and I really appreciate that! Big bummer about the lume but I still love this piece haha. 😎🙌
Thank you for pointing out you just hold a fold over clasp from the side and they open easily, same on Tudor, it's not big deal just hold from the side. I may have missed it but this bracelet has two stretch links at the clasp, they're tight but there and do help somewhat with movement.
Love it, in my humble opinion Zodiac is underrated,I own 3 Zodiac three limited editions 2 quartz 1 automatic love the brand,,the is beautiful 53 Zodiac Wolf great job...makes it perfect 👍👍...
I picked mine up with the black bezzle back in late July or early August. Put a tropic rubber strap on it from Blushark and haven't looked back. It has quickly become my favorite time piece daily, around town and in and out of the boat/water. Good review.
Hi Dave, excellent looking watch but a shame about the lume. Great choice of straps ive been looking at zodiac for awhile now but never been really tempted. But after watching this review I my have to check them out again. Excellent review as always
Thanks Elmo! Yeah the lume would have been so cool with a longer lasting effect no doubt. I do think Zodiac doesn’t get the love they deserve, but I have a feeling enthusiasts are starting to show them more love these days! Cheers my friend! 😎🍻🙌
I believe the orange lume is only on early versions of this watch because it was pretty weak. Could be totally wrong, but I do believe I read that somewhere when doing research on my recently acquired Seawolf 53 skin with date from 2015. The lume on mine is fantastic
That is an interesting tidbit of info! I will have to reach out to one of Zodiac’s points of contact here in the states and see if I can get an answer on that. Glad to hear the lume on yours is so much better, thanks for sharing Jack! 😎👍
Hello David S., Very nice review, if you don't mind please let me know how's bracelet fitting in terms of comfort? I've been hearing that it does have a small area that is sharp to the skin? Thanks so much, Kevin
I know man, but I just never wore it like I thought I would have. 😩 it’s in good hands now though bro! Thanks as always for the love and support man! 😊🙌
I love the design of this watch. It’s brilliant. I especially love the skeletonized tip of the second hand. But poor lume on a diver, especially when I’m paying more than a grand, is unconscionable. If it was an AliExpress watch, maybe…
Hello Buddy 1953 is my birth year & I've looked at this Zodiac but I'm not shure about it I'd like to try it on first & I'm not completely sold on the movement . I'm seriously looking at the Black Bay 58 for my next watch.
Hey Junior! That’s too cool man! I think you may like this piece, but you can’t go wrong with the BB58! Amazing watches that Tudor has. Would you go for the black and gilt dial 58 or the blue 58?
Really love the look of this watch. Heard some people complain about that the bracelet can't be fitted to smaller wrists. I have a 6.7 inch wrist I think if I'm converting right. It's the only thing holding me back. What do you think?
It’s a great looking piece imo! I hadn’t heard about the bracelet being an issue, my wrist is 7-7 1/4” and I’m pretty sure another link could be removed without issue. It’s on loan to a friend of mine but I can check and get back to you once I confirm. Sorry for the delayed reply! 😎
Very exquisite Timepiece Dave, thanks for the history on the Brand and the heritage it brought to Dive watches. All you need now is a no date Subby and you'll be set 😏👍😎🍻
For that price brand new, absolutely! It’s a great watch with history and provenance. The only issues I’ve heard others mention is the movement sometimes may have a problem but mine never did. The lume isn’t the greatest, so that’s the other downside but it’s a great watch imo! Cheers!
Yeah bummer about the lume man…I am glad they have the date and no date versions, I would be cool with either of them tbh! Thanks for sharing, Tommy! 😎🍻👍
Thanks bro! Yeah it was just sitting around though so it was time to pass it along. 😎👍 Agreed, I read another commenter that their lume is really good so I guess Zodiac had addressed the weaker lume at some point which is definitely a good thing.
I bought my Aerospace GMT new from the ships store in 1969 for $50. I still wear it once a week or so, and hope you get just as much enjoyment out of yours.
Wow that is amazing! Really speaks to the longevity and build quality right there. Thank you for sharing and may you continue enjoy your Aerospace GMT in the best health! 😎👍

From AliExpress pieces to a Blancpain
This channel has come a long way
Thanks Hiyuke! I still enjoy the homages and I’ll keep reviewing them, but this journey has been an amazing one for sure! 😊🙏
Access to trustworthy people to trade watches is a huge plus in this watch-youtube hobby for sure!
Couldn’t agree more! This community is one of the best I gotta say! 😊🙌
Thanks for your review!

Fantastic! Love the vintage strap with it

Excellent review, David. I particularly liked the inclusion of the strap pairing footage.
Awesome piece! Hits home on the black tropic!
Thanks man! That tropic is definitely 🔥🔥🔥 on this diver! Thanks for checking out the vid! 😎👍
Nice job displaying the different straps.
Thanks! There are so many great options of straps to pair it with that it's hard to choose sometimes haha!

Gotta love the watchfam! Congrats on the new watch.
Absolutely, it’s such a cool group to be a part of! Thanks so much for checking out the vid!
😎🍻🙌
Really great video man. Love the look of this watch! UA-cam must be paying good to buy that 50 fathoms! That thing looks killer
Congrats bro!!! Great pick up . I agree with u bummed the lume isn't stronger as the orange looks killer. Enjoy it in good health!👊
Thanks my #tudorbro 😎🙌 I don’t REALLY dive so I’m willing to overlook the lume issue hehe 😅
That ilum 😮 🥲 pairing it with the bridle leather or the belize suede… really nice combos and stunning look!
Great eye on those bro! I think the light colors just work so well with this one for some reason. 😎🍻👌
Forgot to mention turn that the oyster bracelet also has spring loaded links at the clasp!
As a new viewer of the channel, I wasn’t expecting that Blancpain cameo lmao. What an awesome watch
Awesome trade David, definitely a great watch for your collection 👍 👌
Thanks my man! I could see this one staying in the collection forever, just has too much attachment to history to let it go lol. 😎🍻🙌
Great piece David 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks man! I’ve really been enjoying it lately! 😎🙌

Thanks so much,

Lux black sailcloth is BOOM, then a quick swap out to the Merlot on your way to the Playboy mansion. ❤
Absolutely love the vintage leather 😍
Glad you enjoyed that combo, John! Thanks again for the opportunity to trade some watches and to share this really cool watch with the watchfam 😎👍
so good on that tropic rubber strap!
Right?! I think that combo looks badass! 😎👍
Not the Dapix 😞 Congrats on the new watch man. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
I know man, but I just never wore it like I thought I would have. 😩 it’s in good hands now though bro! Thanks as always for the love and support man! 😊🙌
You definitely got the better end of that deal
Dave I think you missed a no brainer band option a mesh or Milanese bracelet would look killer on that watch.
Totally agree, but only because I don’t have either of those straps right now. 😩 Would definitely look killer with either one tho for sure! 😎👍
I love the design of this watch. It’s brilliant. I especially love the skeletonized tip of the second hand. But poor lume on a diver, especially when I’m paying more than a grand, is unconscionable. If it was an AliExpress watch, maybe…
Great video bro nice trades for a great watch!
Thanks P! 😎🍻🙌
Good review. I am a big fan of Artem sailcloth. I also like FKM rubber.
Thanks Greg! Yeah those Artem straps are on a different level! I think it and the FKM are right at home with any divers watch, no doubt. 😎👍

Haha thanks Hunter! Then the trifecta will finally be complete! 😅👍
I see these models going for under $600.00 new. Is it worth the price in your opinion???
For that price brand new, absolutely! It’s a great watch with history and provenance. The only issues I’ve heard others mention is the movement sometimes may have a problem but mine never did. The lume isn’t the greatest, so that’s the other downside but it’s a great watch imo! Cheers!
I think this isn’t limited anymore. Plus I think they changed the lume.
Besides the bracelet, I think the Luxery sailcloth from Artem Straps looks best.
Yep! Those Artem straps look good with just about anything, but especially divers like this one! Thanks for checking it out Pascal! 😎🙌
Beautiful watch (I've been eyeing it myself) but SHIT movement, STPs look nice but really do suck... I've had pretty bad experiences with them 😕
Aww man, what is the problems you’ve experienced on the STP movement in particular?
mine has the date at 3 lume kinda sucks
Yeah bummer about the lume man…I am glad they have the date and no date versions, I would be cool with either of them tbh! Thanks for sharing, Tommy! 😎🍻👍
Great trade! Sad to see that reef tiger go but the lume on the zodiac is such a nice color
Thanks bro! Yeah it was just sitting around though so it was time to pass it along. 😎👍 Agreed, I read another commenter that their lume is really good so I guess Zodiac had addressed the weaker lume at some point which is definitely a good thing.

I’m a sucker or a nice steel bracelet 😊
Can never go wrong with the OG bracelet bro! 😎👍
It's such a cool watch, but it looks kind of cheap, and seeing the older models, it doesn't look like it can really take a beating.
Rest in the good news 💐🌑👍 Okay bye
hello man. wrist size? ty
Hi there, my wrist is 7.25 inches around.
When I see a bottle that says Shiner I just think Bock. When I see Zodiac I just think 🍉. It's Rob's fault. Steel bezel looks nice.
How’s the watch been serving you these days?
THE 1953 DESIGN IS WIN,they should just remake it.
And now they have..
I think the Zodiac is a nice watch but does not deserve all those three watches.
For those who would like to comment: first! I am really sorry 😂
👀
I hope those are good eyes haha! 😅🙌
WHAT A HORRIBLE TRADE. BOUGHT MY ALL BLACK PVD ZODIAC AND IT WAS THE WORST WATCH EVER! never again will buy zodiac
As a new viewer of the channel, I wasn’t expecting that Blancpain cameo lmao. What an awesome watch
