THANK YOU! I've been thinking about this joke for years, and I still don't know why they haven't increased the cost of bullets. I'm a car enthusiast and the cost of gas is crazy, so I drive less and try and save money. The shit works!

@@MrTee12 prohibitive in the sense that if it's truly for self defense purposes you shouldn't be able to afford 20 rounds, or it should be so expensive so as teenagers and young adults DEFINITELY shouldn't be able to afford 20 rounds and the price should scale exponentially if the weapon is deemed to have mass shooting potential. What are the most popular guns used in mass shootings? Identify those, assign a threat level to them, then put a massive tax on the ammo that will go towards school security, and a fund for mass shooting victims.
@@MrTee12 If kids can't afford it, then adults can and then we change the laws so that if a minor kills someone with a gun, the parent or owner of the gun/s are charged as an accessory.
After the school shooting in Connecticut I saw a guy with the same look as the ones who shot up the theatre and the school in Connecticut. I told him he looked like he was going to do a mass shooting. He said he told his doctor to cut back on his medication. He looked like he had not slept in a week.

Such an amazing joke. I agree that super expensive bullets would dramatically decrease collateral damage but people will still commit murder. In the UK there are barely any shootings but the stabbings are off the fucking charts. People even go on "stabbing sprees" which is just silly beyond measure. People will still kill each other regardless of the tool they have at their disposal. We need to work on our environment and how we treat each other.

I totally understand how this joke by Chris Rock can appear as though it's genius. I also understand the fear that MANY people have due to the publicized shootings that we have. I also understand there is a fear or AR 15s and guns in general.
MOST people see themselves as VICTIMS and not being able to protect themselves when they think of gun violence. This is partly because most people that fear guns have never shot, held or even seen a gun apart from on tv. They have been taught (from the media) that guns are bad.
Criminals steal, k*ll and disrupt society. Criminals DON'T ABIDE BY LAWS. Since this is the case, creating more LAWS or making it harder (MORE EXPENSIVE) for LAW abiding citizens to protect themselves puts LAW abiding people in MORE danger.
Lastly, this joke assumes that criminals are ALL in the same class of people. Criminals can be rich or poor. This is why it's important to be educated on guns, gun safety and knowing hot to be situationally aware as a human so that we can protect ourselves and our kids that we love so much.
There's more to say on this but I'll leave it here.

Only countries that make it legal to own guns, are there high levels of gun violence occurrences. The only reason why owning guns carry a high perceived value of ownership is because of the influence of gun manufacturers or corrupt , lawless and don’t care that they are type governments.. There are more gun related deaths through assault and accidents than there are of folks lawfully defending themselves - by a significant margin. Corrupt cultural values is the underlying reason a society find some kind of justification to another, for owning firearms, outside of hunting. Here in America, most gun evangelicals, only embrace the idea because of the lower level of ownership compared to the general public embrace of it - If everyone embraced the idea and was openly walking around with guns, the gun evangelicals will be calling for gun control because the ability to to perceive a greater, violent advantage in a situation would be erased, leaving their skittish discomfort, weighed against more perceived and real aggressive people with the same or even more lethal weapons than they carry..

I live in Texas,the GUN state. LOL. Texas passed a law you don't even have to register to own a gun,now.I presume most people I encounter are STRAPPED. Concealed carry.We dropped off as a nation,where you feel the need to be armed at all times out in the public,because your fear of active shooters.

It's crazy how people can be convinced to give up their ability to protect themselves. When someone is breaking into your house at 2am, you're going to wish you had a way to protect yourself. All that 5k bullet talk will go right out the window. Regardless of how you feel about guns, it is a right in this country. If you put a 5k tax on bullets, it's no longer a right and is now a privilege. Imagine charging people 5k to vote or practice the religion of their choice. People would lose their minds.

You could make bullets illegal tomorrow and criminals would still have bullets for decades. But with all that being said, if something is a right, then it should be a right that all Americans can partake in. Not just a select few who can afford it.

Many are stuck in the middle because they have never touched, shot or even seen a gun in real life and this leads to FEAR! This FEAR is what criminals capitalize on. They know most people are going to run and scream and not have a way to protect themselves because they are scared of the tool that would equalize the situation. Criminals don't give a damn about laws, how hard is it for people to understand that. Chris Rock can afford armed security, can you? When five armed criminals are kicking in your door, and 911 has you on hold.....what are you going to do? We have every right to protect ourselves with whatever weapon we choose. Learn to think for self....it makes for a much better life.
Being for gun control doesn't mean you can't think for yourself. It also doesn't mean we don't think you should be able to protect your home. No one's trying to ban all guns. But you don't need an AR-15 to protect your house. And you don't need to be able to buy a gun with no background check and no waiting period and no registration. Getting a gun should be at least as difficult as it is to get a driver's license and maintain a car. As for criminals not giving a damn about laws, apparently they do, because most mass shooters do so with weapons they obtained legally. The shooter in Uvalde waited until his 18th birthday to buy his guns. Why? Because that's when it was legal to do so. He could've bought guns illegally before then, but he didn't--likely because buying them legally was easier and cheaper. And if the kind of guns he wanted had been banned, buying them on the streets would've been that much harder because they'd cost even more. Could a person get around all those things? Sure. But why not at least try to put some obstacles in their way? Also, most mass shooters are not career criminals. The majority of them were law abiding citizens, until the day they weren't. As for a better life--please ask the parents in Uvalde how good life is right now. We've had more mass shootings in this country in 2022 than there are days in the year, and it's not even August yet. Please tell me when this better life starts.

Assault rifles are already essentially banned so that wouldn't make a difference. The issue with raising prices is poor people that need it from getting it and training to get good with it also it's essentially impossible for anyone to buy an assault rifle in the US
How do you figure it's impossible for anyone to buy an assault rifle? That is pretty obviously not true. We used to have an assault weapon ban, but that expired in 2004, after which mass shootings tripled.
@@cv8499 because they have been banned back in 86. You can't (legally) buy one that has been manufactured since that year because the federal government doesn't allow it and assault rifles are quite expensive, look to spend upwards of 10k, plus the govt tax situation. Only rich people can have them. Most people cannot get an assault rifle (legally) because of the red tape so since we can't get assault rifles, we buy things like the AR-15 or civilian model AK-47 because they LOOK LIKE assault rifles but don't operate like one.

I never realized how naive alot of folks are about how things work in real life, the reality of the facts are simple, whatever you ban raises it's value on the black market, whatever you mark up in costs in retail will sell for cheaper on the street...it's like racism, you hear alot of talk about stopping it reducing it, etc, but the bottom line is, it won't stop until people choose to stop it by force

@@kay-collins First, I disagree. 90% of gun owners are a mixed population, not specifically white. However, the majority of active shooters are...young, white males. Whether you want to look or not, this trend has been studied decades ago by the likes of the FBI. COINTELPRO was not just to take down black nationalism but also radical white h8 groups.
Secondly, raising the costs of bullets wouldn't make whites or rich people the only people with guns, just that poor people would be able to purchase fewer bullets. It would change many people's priorities, much like how raising the prices of cigarettes effectively curbed smoking.
Most shootings occur in bad areas, not affluent areas, and wealthy people have never been a physical threat to the poor. It's extremely rare in human history when rich people have physically attacked poor people. Wealth makes most people peaceful, and poverty makes most people aggressive. Prisons are filled with violent offenders, most of which come from poverty or broken homes.
Gun laws of such magnitude would change nothing or than the shooter's mentalities.
Logic: "If it cost $XXXX for a single bullet, I need to be careful about how I use them."
Also, "the government" is not out to get you because we elect them into office. Therefore, if they're out to get me, it's because you are because they are us.
