I understand you get a lot of comments and questions but as far as I’ve heard was irans attempted strike ment to not be successful and be more of a response strike or was it genuinely supposed to hit and cause damage. Also here in the Republic of Ireland we also have pretty much the same freedom of speech law I don’t know about Northern Ireland though

I am an Israeli, I can 100% confirm that Iranian people are great, met a lot of them in different parts of the world!

Well, that's why there is a difference between Iranian and Islamist. It's religious extremism in general the big problem (I am an atheist, so I see all religions as problems, but I have to admit that not of the same magnitude). So I would take two things out of it.
1- The problem of Iranians (just like Russians), is that they are weak and provide no resistance to their authoritarian governments. And that is a problem anyway. I'd love to see them breaking their chains, but the realist in me says it won't happen...
2- Are we (whoever is reading) going in the right direction? or are we becoming subject to authoritarian movements? (Trump? Bibi + orthodox? etc etc) In short how far are we from becoming Ruzzians? And I see around and I worry a lot about that one.
@@TheAlchaemist basically Persians are not only Muslim people but also a lot of Zoroastrian. But as an atheist yeah - all of the religions kinda bad in some sense…

From a sociopolitical standpoint, disinformation is *extremely* useful for two things.
One Ryan pointed out: making people angry at the government.
The other is making people feel not safe and, therefore, more vulnerable to radicalisation by less than scrupulous actors.
Bang on one aspect of it. There are many more effects, depending on kind of disinformation and target audience. In any case, proving much more effective than vast majority realise, apart from people in regions the particular disinformation is about, still with exceptions.
And then there is the carrier of disinformation, the main culprit of these effects on public opinion, which includes disinformation, misinformation, grains of truth with a spin and gray areas. It's targetted and organically spreading propaganda of different shades. The latter, also called psy-ops are the main culprit of people losing the clarity of what's going on since the introduction of WEB2. Unfortunately the latter might be the downfall of democratic systems per se.

I´ve really identified with so much of what you´ve said in this video. I´m a 64 year old Brit and remember the gullible idiots advocating for unilateral disarmament in the eighties. "Better Red than dead"" was their slogan. All the west had to do was destroy al its nukes and the Soviets would say "Hey, that´s really decent of you, we must do the same". Really? Later of course, it surfaced that all these protest groups were funded by the Soviets. Surprise surprise. On the other hand, in the seventies and eighties I had many Iranian friends who grieved at what was being done to their formerly moderate, culturally advanced, middle class society by fundamentalists who seemed to be unstoppable by the west. Such a shame.

« moderate » is a really funny way to describe a UK-installed dictatorship that was filling torture dungeons full of dissidents and filling their and the wests pockets with stolen Iranian wealth… it’s Kinda like describing a state where 4 out of 11 million people have no human rights and 2 other millions are second class citizens as a « model democracy »
You only have to look at Brexit to see how misinformation can change politics.
I remember being in Soviet army in the eighties we were told our mission is to take over the west. When asking the superior about all these peace loving messages , we were told not to pay attention.

I got shanghai'd into ANCOC in 1988. The Army was attempting to define levels of conflict in the pre-Powell Doctrine days, and had decided there were 3 levels of a conflict: low, medium, and high-intensity. This didn’t sit well with most rank and file soldiers; everyone remembered the last low-intensity conflict the US had been involved in: Vietnam. We had just suffered through an hour’s lecture on the gradation of violence inherent in such classifications, and we had been predictably reluctant to buy into it. The Instructor asked "What's the difference between a low intensity conflict and a high-intensity conflict?"
A Green Beret in the class with me says "A low-intensity conflict is when they are shooting at you. A mid-intensity conflict is when they are shooting at my friends. A high-intensity conflict is when they are shooting at ME." The instructor couldn't come back from that.

On this exact day in 2017 i was in Iran on a ski touring trip. The people we met were so friendly. Even in Tehran on the tube people just wanted to talk. When i said i was from Manchester UK they all wanted to talk football.

Port of Los Angeles doesn’t have docks that explosives can be exported from. To the south of port of Long Beach is Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach which stores and loads / unloads weapons for US Navy all the time for fleet units.

Ryan: I totally agree that the correct responsibility for social media companies/managers is to flag rather than censor questionable information of various kinds.
Censor information that if truthful and contrary to government fake propaganda, you mean.
Iranian people are smart. I can't imagine that there was a sweeping, vast belief amongst the masses that drones wouldn't be intercepted after puttering through the air for hours to reach their targets.
It is very expensive defend but I bet Israel & US-Allies are having a good battle experiences, I mean in modern battlefield combination of drones & missiles might be a new future combat.. it is a good experiences for Israel & US-Allies..

3:52 Belfast Telegraph is a newspaper in Northern Ireland, in the UK, not Ireland. Easy mistake to make, unless you are referring to the island of Ireland which has two different law systems here.

That's from a time when "the news" was primarily "news.". Now the "news" is primarily opinion and propaganda held forth as "news."
Don't underestimate how much harm misinformation or incorrect information can do. Some innocent looking piece of wrong information might pop out and effect your judgement and decision at the critical moment. Some of the worst decision I've made in my life can be attribute to some seemingly innocuous piece of information I heard years years ago.

The dictatorships should be removed by the population and democracy put in government.

I think I saw a law that says to be illegal tell a lie that causes harm. In other words you can't yell fire in a theater.Or anything that causes harm
The first issue then becomes proving that harm resulted, for which the perp will try to claim a "lack of standing".
There's also "incitement to riot" which I believe gets used a bit more often by law enforcement.
Or sharing an internet meme on a political figure-like Killery-will get you charged with felonies and facing prison time in the democrat gulag dungeon with no running water.
