    Thank you very much for your review. It was well thought out and easy to understand even for a beginner like myself. I've just gotten my first aquarium and finding a reliable heater that's less likely to prove dangerous to my future fish (L046 plecos!) is paramount. I had come across the eheim heaters in my research but being able to see the item in question, as well as hear about user experience and usage, is extremely helpful. I'll definitely be picking one up!

    Yeah I bought a cheap heater and it exploded in my sump (even though it was on a controller) - I got a Sicce - don't think I would use a heater without a controller on my display but maybe on my QT I will get one next time (though I should get an Inkbird for that too)

    Thanks for the review for the new EA games one ;) The old dial never confused me, i actually liked the detailed temperature selection haha. Since its been so hot in montreal, i removed all my heaters as i dont keep the AC on generally and in the winter my apartment is well heated. i think heaters are overhyped in this hobby but thats just my 2 cents on it. LFS just heat the room instead :)

    Love the humour. See you post on Facebook, I’m the one who always says you have great videos :) but thank you for the review, I wasn’t expecting an old company like Eheim to release a new product. They seem a bit stale but none the less well known for good products.

      Thank you for the kind word :)
      Indeed Eheim don't release new product often but you can tell they tested their stuff before.
      I have also one of their filter and I bought a new Fluval last year and... honestly the Eheim is just better because it's more convenient. Tunze is another brand also similar to Eheim in a way. They test a lot before.

    Nice review and comparison with the previous popular model! I like all the little improvements they made to the new model... and yes, the old manual compensation dial confused me, I don't think I ever figured it out, lol. One thing, did the auto-off when it's out of the water not working?

    • @AquaSplendor
      @AquaSplendor 4 роки тому +1

      I have a video coming soon with a more Direct comparison with the Jager (because why not), I'm not sure to be honest about the auto off. The only thing I can tell is it's NOT Super duper hot compare to the jager if I do the same experimentation. I think I felt the heat just because it was the residual heat. I had a previous moment in the past where it was in the air (by accident) but didn't notice the green light... so I'm just assuming it detect a Overheat and shut off, something like that.

    Mine lasted just over 3 years and broke today. Unplugged it to do a water change and it never came back on. Luckily still have my old Eheim as a backup. Wouldn’t buy another one. It was good but clearly not that reliable. My old Eheim is 5 years old and still going strong. More electronics is just more to go wrong with it.

    Sure the "e" stay for electronic controlled :-)
    "EHEIM thermocontrol-e - the electronically controlled version of the precision aquarium control heater thermocontrol."
    Here in Germany, we used them decades. The previous company name was Jäger (Hunter)
    I never have big issue with them, sometimes they died. Sometimes they lose power, because the heating filament slid together.

    • @AquaSplendor
      @AquaSplendor 4 роки тому +1

      Well here the thing for the E: The Jager is also Electronic ... so ... I don't know, it didn't make sense to me having that "word" in the new model... kinda weird, lol.
      I didn't know Jager meant Hunter, good to know, and... it doesn't make sense either, so maybe that E is for Electronic after all lol
      How long did you use them before they "die" or else? I've been running different one for 3--5 years with no issue (except when I have a accident but it's my fault)

    • @neptunes_pot
      @neptunes_pot 4 роки тому +1

      @@AquaSplendor This make absolut sense, because the Germans must label all different products correct, precise and short (it is not a law, it is just freaky). There is no space for a long product name or emotion ;-)
      I have no idea how the old an new heater works. Maybe the old one works only with a bimetal in a mechanical way. The new one measure and control the temperature for sure. That difference must take place in the name. :-D
      Is like the same weird (shit) thing with german cars, like Audi. A = Audi and the number are type of the base model. For example A1, A2, A3....:-D
      And Jäger is only the old company name, or rather the name of the inventor. Eheim have purchased the company Jäger for many years, but they still put the name on the heater :-D
      Yes, we are a kind of very weird.

    • @daijoubu4529
      @daijoubu4529 2 роки тому

      Jager most likely uses an bimetallic thermostat, so no, that's not electronic, it's a mechanical thermostat. It's like those cheap builder grade Honeywell baseboard thermostat.
