In the summer of 2021, I went on vacation to Gdansk, Poland. I took my 13-year-old son to the WW2 museum in Gdansk. I knew a lot about WW2 before the visit. But I knew not enough. Over 3 hours late we walked out totally emotionally drained. I cried several times during the visit. Learning in-depth about what the Polish people had to endure was brutal. To all, please take time and learn about WW2. I now understand why Sabaton's songs mean so much to the Polish people. Thank you for reacting to this song.

When you go to Oświęcim (Auschwitz), after visit your brain been destroy. On polish ground was fews german death camp's, Auschwitz- Birkenau was the biggest. The only way out of the camp was through the crematorium chimney

Fun Fact: At this very festival, at the end of Sabaton's performance, the crowd honored the band by singing the Polish national anthem to them.

"Warszawo walcz" as a Pole it has a huge significance to sing this part.

Fun fact. There was around 500.000 people at woodstock, When Sabaton started playing than another 200.000 came to listen. I was there with my uncle and best time was when they rolled out a Polish flag at 40:1 song. I tought i was there for a 5 minutes...best moment of my childhood. I miss my uncle. He took me there just to say goodbye before he died of a cancer. I really miss him and the times when he was taking ma to almost every metal concert that happen in Poland. When Sabaton is playing or i'm listen to it i feel the strong proud to them, to people that died. Poland will never give up till the last breath.

The guys who owned the "Woodstock" name got jealous that the Polish version got just as big as theirs.
I'm a grown man, but being from Warsaw and remembering my grandparents stories about Uprising, I can never get through this song without crying my eyes out. Great reaction Tank!
It is also worth noting that the PolandRock festival is and has always been completely free. There are no tickets or any fees.
Showed this song to a good friend from Poland who does not like metal. She LOVES all the Polish songs from Sabaton, adores them to hell and back.

I was wondering what you meant by that untill i remembered their song "to hell and back"
Very hard topic for us (Poles especially from Warsaw), that was buried by communists for over 50 years. No one could talk about it or give glory to heroes or victims (about 200'000 Warsaw civs murdered by Germans and over 25000 soldiers of AK). It's great that SABATON helps to spread the word about this hecatomb to the world. It's very important to make people aware of such crime so maybe it will never happen again.
Sabaton performing this live in Warsaw is an absolute MUST watch. You'll be in Awe after you've seen it.
Regarding the uprising thingie - I don't think anyone non Polish can truly understand what listening to this song does to you.
I live in Warsaw, part of my family was participating in the uprising. Each year on 1st august at 1700 the sirens go off across the whole city, cars stop and honk, people go out in the middle of street crossroads and light torches. And the police? They don't chase people off, they stand still and salute.
I'm not much of an active patriot as this got connected to right winged movements in Poland, but damn that day, and this song, brings tears to my eyes
the funny thing about that festival is that more than half the people there are Polish, but funnily enough, the other half are mostly German!
Nothing brings people together more than good music :D

I've heard Wacken blocks reactions furiously. So I wouldn't be surprised if he already tried it.

@@KamilStaniszewski the barrier thing doesn't really matter to me, I have to stand pretty far from the stage. If there are people all around me and I can't escape I literally pass out. Not good. Happened at the last concert I went to, and that was just one room full of people, not hundreds of thousands of people lol
@@adenkyramud5005 In this polish Festival everyone is so respectful to each other and protective as well, if they see anyone is falling down, they giving him a dozen hands to help that person stand up and feel safe, I can bet u would feel a lot safer there inside this crazy crowd than on any other similar concerts, I experienced it myself.

Worth to mention that the festival is for free - you can come just like that and enjoy huge bands. Also, there are no barriers between the stage and the crowd. It sounds crazy but somehow it works!
What always pulls me to Sabaton is that each song is about actual history so when listening I always have a mental picture of the song. I know it weird lol.
I think that is a large part of their appeal. They remind you that these things happened, and not that long ago.

The biggest reason the crowd was as hype as they were is the song they were playing,The song is about the polish uprising in 1944,and they are playing this song in poland,to a crowd of mostly polish people
Last two words after the chorus is 'Warszawo walcz' meaning 'Fight Warsaw' in Polish. They went famous in Poland with their song '40 to 1', after that few more songs are also connected to Polish people or things that happened in Poland and they have a massive fanbase. I didn't see 40 to 1 with your reaction so maybe that's the next step to consider? :)

The version they published from the great tour is a little bit less energetic but it touched me much more, actually in Warsaw and Joakim changed the lyrics from "their death" to "your death" to speak directly to the public wich ancestors directly participed in this event

And told the people that Poland had better time when they were under Swedish rule. 🙈

I love this song but knowing how heartbreaking story it tells it's hard to me to just enjoy the music as I normally would.
To be honest, they look a lot cooler now than when they started out. Joakim with hair and tiny 90's sunglasses is an image that will haunt me forever.

Many great metal band from Sweden 🇸🇪, Brothers of metal are awsome. Viking/norse mythology lyrics. 3 amazing vocalists, and they come from the same place in Sweden as Sabaton. Love both band. Sure you would like them.
Sabaton has the best live show I've seen. I would see them every time they come to my city. And Wacken is on my bucket list.

This video is the one that I send people who ask, "who is Sabaton?" I always get goosebumps hearing this knowing the history behind it and the Polish crowd singing along.
I know it's been said, and will always be said, but holy fuck, a Sabaton show is cranked to 11. Production, energy (band and the crowd), and the sound engineering is always top notch.
I've seen Sabaton live twice now. Last year, I had to sit in a chair on the side cause I was still in a neck brace and a cane from my accident. But it was still a great concert and I still saw the stage pretty well. They even had the tank up there.
I think you should do Lejonet Från Norden (Lion From The North) live in Stockholm. It features Apocalyptica opening before the song and playing with them. It's awesome to see. They play together a lot. And Apocalyptica has interesting outfits on during this video.
Next time you do sabaton from Woodstock 2012, there's an incredibly powerful moment that happens. Being polish descent myself, I honestly tear up pretty much every time I hear one of their polish songs.
But back to the original point. Next sabaton song you do, please follow it up with this also in the same video

It's the BTS of when the polish flag comes out and then what happens after is simply incredible. Simply powerful. 700,000 people singing as one, just on a wimsy and unplanned.. Belting the entire polish anthem.
If you don't know the flag that got be rolled out is a simply meaning to a one thing. Under it there was a 1k people. And at them performance there was a 700000 of a people. it was just for to show number of Poles that went against a this amount of a people by the uprising.

their London gig this year was nothing but full on, the crowd never let up, amarathe, apocalyptica and sabaton all brought the best they had and jesus....their was never a silent moment. most intense gig ive been to in years.

One of my favorite Sabaton songs is "To Hell and Back." It's almost criminally catchy. There is a sick live video of it from that Great Tour - Antwerp show.

I hope you see Sabaton one day. I saw them once and it was amazing. The Pyro, the energy, the music, everything. Fun fact if i remember correctly they said in one of their tour vlogs, that they had about 8 tons of explosives and over 40 flamethrowers for the great tour. Oh and if you get see them live, dont forget to chant "noch ein Bier" Joakim loves that 😜

I remember seein Sabaton at Hellfest France back in 2010. not my first time seeing them, but first time very up close to the stage. such an energy, it was amazing, also you get to see them actually messing with one another on stage a lot. :D during one of the Guitar Solos, Joakim just walked up to the dude and pinched him in the nipple. Dude was a rock tho and didnt miss a note, at least I didnt notice it :D

I love the way Sabaton does those little pauses in some of their songs, like this one, The Art of War, where they let the crowd sing the next part before the band songs it. It's almost like "we got you, but you're metal as F**K so do it!"

Man, I just binged all of your Sabaton reacts. These have been the best reactions by far. I highly suggest you check out the Hellfest story, where Sabaton replaced Manowar with barely any notice. Oh yeah, and Joakim's voice was blown out. Alot of insight into how they work in that story.

I didn't see anybody explain it, but Warszawo Walcz means Warsaw Fight! But Warsaw is in the vocative case, which means he is giving Warsaw a personal, almost human identity, think the city's spirit, it's soul, when they sing it.
Thanks for another roadie reaction. Since I can’t meet my roadie friends in these times it is really nice to hear gear talk from someone. I am Swedish-English bilingual and å, ä, ö are not easy to say. I am guessing you don’t have any Swedish speakers around to listen to, therefore I would suggest using an app or why not google translate. Set it to Swedish and type in what you want to hear. That’s how my colleagues do, who are native English speakers, if they don’t have one of us Swedes around.

Great reaction! I had to laugh when you talked about switching guitars. I had to switch from an acoustic to an electric and vice versa during songs. That was always nerve wrecking and nothing is more embarrassing when you are not ready after four bars and are not on your mark. I think I had two gigs where a friend was the tech and helped with the switching of instruments. Nowadays I would do what an old band mate suggested to me: announce a week before the gig, punk rock, unrehearsed and beer is free for the audience. That would mean one amp one guitar, one cable - easy.

Good point about meeting up at a gig. it would be awesome to have a group get-together at Wacken or at "Woodstock", or somewhere. Maybe someone with the rights contacts or friends in low places could organise a block booking of tickets at concessionary prices, or something? Always fun to turn a virtual community into a real community.

Everyone is different i suppose, but after watching the "sabaton history channel" about this song. It kinda makes me tear up every time i listen to it. The lyrics are really sad to be honest.

Ä = Like the "ai" in hair or pair (yes, if you pronounce "Pär" like you would "pair" it's borderline spot on)
