    My whole family is polish. I was born and raised in America. Lived there high school. My grandparents fought in the underground. I cry. I cry every single time I hear this song. I’ve never listened to you but was thrilled to hear you talk of the history, the struggle, the censorship. I grew up on these. Stories. My grandfather was very good friends with mr kolaczkowski who flew against the nazis in the Battle of Britain. I interviewed him when I was 14. The poles weren’t allowed to march in the victory parade after world war 2 because of the soviets. There is so much to say. Thank you for being interested in the truth however you got there. Glad you got to see Poland. Harmony and blessings mate.

    To be honest You're far from the truth - western allies in beginning of September 1939 could hit Germans from the west. You told it was not good time - it was the BEST time to do it, because almost all of German armies were in battle of Poland. If they did - Soviets wouldn't hit Poland from east on 17th September (Stalin was waiting for the move of Great Britain and France ) - and most likelly war would be over quite soon.
    Poland was defending will full dedication just to wait for response of allies. This dedication is greatly presented in Sabaton art (40:1 in Wizna f.e.)
    And that's why we're saying about "betrayal" or "hit in the back" because Poland lost 6 million citizens in WW2. What is more sad - allies "betrayed" Poland once again in 1945 in Yalta and Potsdam conferences. But the most sad is - Polish representatives were not even invited for the Great Victory Parade in London in 1946 despite Polish troops were fighting in all fronts: battle of Britain, Narvik, Tobruk, Italy, Arnhem, western and eastern front and in underground Army in Polish territory.
    That's sad truth about "new colonialism" which lasts until now - every time Poland wants to be more independent - it is said "end of democracy in Poland" and "Poland declining UE values". What values?

    • @Nyx_2142
      @Nyx_2142 2 роки тому

      How is Poland declining EU values? By having an extremely corrupt right-wing government that continues to entrench anti-democratic policies. You see Orban in Hungary? That is your future. Ultra-conservative, ultra-corrupt. Both governments whine and bitch about how bad the EU is, then you'll turn around and beg for billions of euros in funding so you can pocket it. Eastern Europe has a lot of catching up to do in the whole "free and democratic society" department. If you wanted to be independent, you shouldn't have joined the EU. You do know what the Union part of European Union means, right? Or are you as dumb as you sound?

    Had to edit: On the same concert you have 40:1 also about Poland. But you also have the opening with Ghost Division (Rommel's push on France) and the crowd also goes nuts.

    You cant make a song about polish bravery and not expect poles to go absolutely crazy over it :D after americans maybe they are the most patriotic people i ever met (in the classic definition). also to the allies part, i think it was stated by the allies that they (mostly the russians ofc) would never reach warsaw in time before the uprising is broken, which turned out to be probably not true bc the poles fought for an incredibly long time as they knew the soviets could theoretically come and free them.

    • @ovk-ih1zp
      @ovk-ih1zp 3 роки тому +6

      Yea, Stalin ordered Zhukov to take a break about 40 miles from Warsaw as the Nazis were crushing the uprising. The Commissariat knew the people fighting in the uprising were going to be "Troublesome" & let the Nazis deal with the "Problem" for them.

    • @jedenzet
      @jedenzet 3 роки тому +8

      The thing is hitler wanted to invade france first but he knew that Poles will immediately advance from the east as they had military aliiance. He also knew that if he attack Poland brits and french will not. Then when the uprising started Poles were thought to keep up only few days, they fought for 63. Russians were standing behind the river, waiting (like some here already said) also refusing allied airplanes access to russian airspace. Allies dropped few crates with supplies but most of those were captured by germans. Hitler literally lost his shit when he heard about the uprising and ordered city to be destroyed, there are photos and films showing how it looked after. When the war was over, and allies once again fucked us in the ass, every working Pole was contributing a percentage of salary to rebuild Warsaw.

    Ok, so Sabaton is ridiculously big in Poland because we love our history - and by "love" I mean "if you start making songs about it, we're gonna worship you and you're gonna get honorary citizenships" (I'm not kidding, it's on Sabaton's Wikia, under "40:1" song facts). And seeing them live in Poland? Especially at one of the largest music festivals in Europe, with the nicest, kindest crowd possible? It's magical.
    But, speaking of magical and hometown advantage, you should check out "The Bard's Song & Valhalla" by Blind Guardian at Wacken 2016, it's going to blow your mind. One of the finest examples of why European festival crowds are amazing.

    4:40 in fact, the French drove a dozen or so kilometers deep into Germany without encountering any major resistance, then they withdrew, but not because of the strength of the German counterattack, they retreated, because the Maginot line guns that shielded them were sent for inspection. Germany threw all the power of the Wehrmacht on Poland, leaving the border with France practically unguarded because Adolf Hitler believed that France and England would leave Poland (like Czechoslovakia) to be "eaten" by Germany, unfortunately he was not mistaken. the war might have ended in 1939. Without over 70 million casualties ...

    Heads up. If you want a really crazy reaction. Sabaton - The attack of the dead men, live in Moscow.
    Theres a very specific reason they get very very loud.. But I really don't wanna say more, cause I can't without spoiling. So You are just gonna have to trust me on that one. Again for the same reason, you will also "need" to do a second reaction to the studio version of it, or ppl might not get all of it ... Again. I don't wanna spoil, but trust me. It will be clear afterwards :)
    Anyway, you will love it. The story behind the song is amazing, and scary at the same time. I'm sure you will get a kick out of it, if you don't know it all ready.
    Keep up the good work!

    You touched upon it in your reaction, with the Allies that didn't came to help. It is true that the Western forces were "busy" in West Europe, but also south fighting their way through Italy, but the point remains the same. Another thing that line was about, was Russia, they were very close toward Warsaw but wasn't in a hurry to help the Poles. Short version, if the most "troublesome" Poles and the Nazis could kill each other it wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen for Stalin.

    Fun fact: The French actually invaded Germany first during WW2, back in 1939. It's called the Saar Offensive and they got pretty far but the whole invasion was stopped as the French feared retaliation. They could have prevented the deadliest war in history but they turned around because they were afraid that the 10% (they didn't know it was such a small amount) of the Luftwaffe that wasn't in Poland were going to bomb their cities.

    An interesting fact about the colors of the Polish flag: it is said that a Pole will sooner dye a white flag with his own blood than give up ❤

    This guys opinion on what happened to Poland in it's entire history is the epitome of layman's speak. ww2 didn't end in Poland until the 80's.

    Rilly, man, it was enough for our allies, France and England, to attack Germany and the war is over because we, Poles, were able to fight the Germans a few weeks before Rozjanie entered from the east. The truth is that the English and French chickened out and preferred to dig in their bunkers instead of fighting, and we Poles will never forget that. Hitlre knew that he had to attack Poland first, because in our country everyone would take up arms and fight, and you would wait for whatever. At least we know from these experiences with whom not to make alliances for the future, because England and France are ordinary cowards who do not fulfill their alliance obligations. Sory for my anglish.

    Try 250years...
    Poland got into trouble in 1772, disapeared from maps in 1795. Since that time Poland had 19 years of peace until 1989. Poland is truly free for 33 years...

    Poland had no resistance movement in these days, that was an underground state. Not comparable to french riot groups.

    Polish soldiers who escaped after holding off Blitz for three days, went to Britain and France, Italy, Africa to fight along side their Allies, US, Britain, France, Russia, Canada, Australia etc, all against the Nazi's. Victory parade in Britain invited countries who had not even fought in the war, BUT they didn't invite Polish troops. You can't even make this stuff up. I am embarrassed to learn of what my country did.

    Funny thing actually was that France and England had superior vehicles and even troops, the main deciding factors were the clear lack of communication where more old fashioned commanders treated tanks like infantry or cavalry and sent them in waves, lack of unit cohesion between the tanks and infantry where tanks will provide fire support and protection whilst the infantry provides a screen around the tanks and hunt down enemy infantry, whilst Stuka five bombers provided accurate artillery and fire support, Erwin Rommel who basically fucked up the entire French command chain believing that Rommel was actually French 😂🤣😂 and for the most parts simply let Rommel through all the while creating massive amounts of chaos and destruction lading the allies to believe that they’ve been out flanked or out numbered and even led to friendly fire between the British and French forces. Meanwhile the Arden’s Forrest which was once deemed impassable was now passable and the massive French magenoe line didn’t give France full protection and the Germans simply went around it via Belgium. (Since building massive fortifications near an allied country might lead to miss understandings/ imagine if Canada started building a massive wall along the border as well as building nuclear silos ten miles behind Theo US/ Canadian border only saying that it’s to prevent Mexico, it’s kinda like that) and so he French never built the line down to the coast and being completely encircled where your main guns are stuck pointed forwards whilst the enemy is behind you yeeehhhh 😂🤣😂( imagine if you only wore body armor on your front and not your back, it’s kind of the same thing)
    Now with the mageno line being destroyed and the French army in complete disarray, the Germans spearheaded through Belgium right in the middle and managed to cut of 60% of Britain’s entire army at the coast of Dunkirk (leaving everything ie rifles, ammunition, tanks, artillery, trucks, anything an army had or needs I can guarantee that the British left hat behind, leaving the British army with no guns, imagine if the entire US army and even civilians lost their rifles and any other military equipment during a massive war with an imminent invasion to boot. And that’s how Europe was lost, the rest of the French army was over run or out maneuvered and being war weary the French simply gave up, imagine having say 9/11 every minute after having a massive recession ant that’s the mind set at the time, or how about another invasion of Iraq and deal with the taliban all over again

    The allies had plenty of chance to send aid to Poland but they decided that they "weren't going to waste men and resources" and instead fortify their defenses for what they thought was going to be another static trench war
