One of the reasons why the Bismarck was so swiftly hunted down wasn’t just because it was one of the few German battleships in the Atlantic but also because the HMS Hood was the Pride of the British Fleet and a whole task force was assembled to hunt it down and sink it in revenge
When an 1800lb shell explodes in your Main Powder magazine for C -Turret, and a magazine of 4" AA shells, any ship is going to have a bad day. Not to mention Hood had all of her blast doors open during the Battle, to move shells faster throughout the ship, but it doesn't matter if don't have time to close off, and flood the entire turret. Only 3 men survived, and their is an older Interview with one of HMS Hoods 3 survivors, and 2 survivors from Bismark. If u can find them, it's worth watching.
It still amuses me that Hood was considered the "Pride of the British Fleet" when damn near every sailor I've heard or read talk about their time on her only had bad things to say about the ship itself and the state she was in (rusted and machinery was worn out and broken nearly constantly), and how she was obsolete years before the war was even on the horizon. I've heard from relatives of sailors that served on her years before the war, and luckily got transferred, talk about what a shitty state she was in. Feel like "Pride of the British Fleet" could've gone to many other ships that weren't an obsolete, rusted, and breaking down Battlecruiser from 1916.
The main reason this task force was even assembled was because the Bismark was heading towards the Atlantic to reck havoc on the allied supply lines from the Americas the sinking of the hood only fuled the anger and determination to hunt it down, They literally called ships like the Rodny , the ark royal the aircraft carrier in the video from Gibraltar and probably 5 more ships from Scotland it just shows you how big of a threat this ship was

The show was good through, so no regrets. I was impressed that they even decide to come here, as most band coming to Russia only play in 3-4 big cities.
I saw these guys open for Nightwish a few years back. Hadn't heard of them before that night, and while I remain forever a huge fan of Nightwish, Sabaton ABSOLUTELY stole the show. Their live energy is insane - if you ever get the chance to see them, do NOT miss out. For other songs, check out Ghost Division, Night Witches, Carolus Rex, or The Lost Battalion. They also have a cover of Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God that is pretty awesome.
I guess you could say Sabaton fits one of the themes of power metal; they are akin to bards telling a story. In the case where other power metal bands tell often fictional stories of knights and elves, Sabaton tells the stories of people who lived, things that actually happened. They tell stories of impressive acts of valor, of behemoth war machines with a deadly reputations, with men who's strategy, about events, about people who shaped history for all time. I feel there's something deeper about that.
Fields of Verdun live Attack of dead men live The last stand live The red Barron live Swedish pagans live To hell and back live These are all really epic live show videos and are really good too.
The second you said “I would love to see these guys live”....trust me, the show they put on and the fan interaction has to be some of the best. Hands down one of the best concerts I’ve been to!🤘🏻
I've had the lucky opportunity to see Sabaton live 2 times so far, their shows are amazing! They also usually have amazing partners with them, like Apocalyptica, Amon amarth, and Hammerfall, to name a few.
First Nightwish and now also Sabaton, new sub, keep it up. Also the old man and the young man in the video are playing Bernhard Heuer, he was the last living survivor of the bismarck, he was really given that compass by the captain when they went down with the coordinates of the bismarcks resting place.
Fun Fact about this Bismarck video... Wargaming (A game developers known for World of Tanks and World of Warships) was in collaboration with Sabaton on this one, they are the one who made the CGI for the ships since the Bismarck itself was sunk during WWII and sits VERY deep on sea floor, so deep in fact that sunlight does not travel there anymore and the pressure is inhumanly high at this depth, so they ended collaborating with Wargaming so they could have great, realistic CGI of the Bismarck even though it was sunk so long ago.
You're absolutely spot on about their live energy, it's immense. When I saw them Joakim (the vocalist) spotted a guy in the audience with a flak jacket, he swapped for the entire performance. Just relentlessly fun. This is a cracking song and video, I would also recommend checking out Carolus Rex and Gott Mitt Uns. But I'm also going to re-up my suggestion for you to check out Frost/Hail by Uneven Structure. Very different sound, but absolutely awesome. Keep the reactions coming bro, hugely engaging as always
Point of fact Joakim straight up swaps the jacket. My Brother in law has one from one of their UK gigs. I've also seen him give someone wearing the look who was the wrong size his shades.
This video is a masterpiece! Idea: i read your fun facts about how "power metal" is characterized. Back in the 80's, and early 90's, metal like THIS (very Maiden, Savatage, Crimson Glory - esque sounding/inspired) we simply referred to it as RESPECT Metal. Not thrash...yet not a "fluffy/comerical money grab". Just legit, well produced, anthem Metal. Nice! \m/
Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game.
Sabaton is incredible live. I've seen them 3 times. Sound just like their albums live. And they bring more energy than just about any other band I've ever seen live. You can just tell they're having fun on stage. Highly recommend.

They are my favorite band, and as someone who has seen them 5 times so far, can confirm they are an absolute joy to see live! They bring the passion, always, and they are just full of joy and humor on stage. Their singer Joakim is damn near a stand up comedian on stage, at times. Highly recommend checking these guys out live whenever you get the chance. They were supposed to be touring second fiddle to Judas Priest on their anniversary tour this year, but unfortunately that got postponed, for obvious reasons. Last time I saw them was co-headlining with Hammerfall last year.
Song recommendations from me? "82nd All The Way" or "Seven Pillars Of Wisdom" from their latest album, or live versions of "Ghost Division" (almost always their opening song), "Swedish Pagans", "40:1", "To Hell And Back", "Carolus Rex" or "Night Witches". Also, DEFINITELY check out Sabaton History! It's a channel they made with historian Indy Neidell where they go over the history that inspired the songs and some trivia about the song itself. Definitely worth a watch, and they have an episode for Bismarck if you want to give it a try without spoiling a future song reaction.
Hammerfall nice! Sabaton live is great, during these times they realesed a bunch of live videos from The Great Tour last year. Can't go wrong with any of these. And they have their own history channel on UA-cam! 82nd All The Way is one of my favorites, also a nice opportunity to visit Amaranthe, an other Swedish band that covered that song.
Tommy Johansson, the lead guitarist is also the lead singer in another band called Majestica (former Reinxeed). They have made two sick albums with covers of old swedish bands like ABBA, Roxette and Ace of base
I have to admit, just like you,I have never heard any music from Sabaton but knew they existed. Sadly,I was watching a different reaction channel...I know forgive me...lol... and watched this video for Bismarck and was blown away. Then I switched over to your reactions which also led me to Sabaton History channel. I'll just say, unbelievably impressed and now all I watch is their video catalog. I've seen them live EVERY time they've come to California, The first time I saw them was with Amon Amarth and let me tell you, Sabaton puts on a HELL OF A SHOW
Ive seen them a few times here in sweden and their shows are amazing, this is surely something u have to check out when this pandemic is over. Great reaction videos btw
Oh hecc, so you recently learned about my favorite band (Nightwish), and in this video you discovered my second favorite band, lol. I saw the two of them play together (along with Delain) on the Endless Forms tour at NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom in 2015, and it's probably been my favorite concert on record. So glad you're getting yourself intertwangled (couldn't decide between intwined and entangled....) in these great bands. I already watch a number of reactors who inform me about the technical side of the music, but you give me a greater appreciation of the technical side of *production,* which I've never gotten before. Keep up the excellent work!
"The lead singer looks like he's ready to jump in the octagon and fight someone in the UFC." I have never, ever thought of that, and it is so incredibly accurate. I will never think of Joakim any other way now.
Outstanding reaction, welcome to the world of Sabaton where you get a free history lesson with every power packed metal moment. If you're wanting to check out more how about "40:1" live at Woodstock Poland 2012 "Ghost division" same show "The red baron" live in Berlin 2019 "Primo Victoria" although the official video is epic as hell do the lyric version. The tank noises in the video cover up too much of the song. "To hell and back" "Screaming eagles" "Devil dogs" "Seven pillars of wisdom" And "metal crew" and "metal machine" are more akin to the history of metal music than warfare but I'm betting you'll love em. (And this is the short list)
And also, the song ''En Livstid i Krig'' (A Lifetime of War) performed live in Gothenburg, is a must-watch! (Specifically the one uploaded by Sabaton Polish Military). The Swedes will thank you. Remember that there are two versions of the Carolus Rex album, one in Swedish and one in English and both are amazing!
Been following sabaton for couple of years now since randomly coming onto them on UA-cam and your channel, also been listening to Amon Amarth since graduating high school back in 2004 haven’t seen them live yet, on my bucket list of things to do. I love the Swedish power medal genre a lot, also like Hammerfall, Nightwish, and Children Of Bodom as well
You need to see them live if all that corona shit is over, at the moment this by far (in my opinion) one of best bands to have the experience to see in a live concert with the most powerful Sound, an awesome stage with beautiful pyrotechnique and live elements that only a few Bands will ever achieve!! Have seen them live about 8 Times the last 3 years and it has been an absolute pleasure and i can only recommend every Single Person to go to one of their concerts😍 And yes, the live shows are at least as good as the studio songs💪
Some of my favorite Sabaton songs, i'm sure you'll love all of them! Carolus Rex Sparta Seven Pillars of Wisdom Winged Hussars Lion from the North Shiroyama Ghost Division Btw It's awesome to see that you do the research before listening to the song so you know what it's about. Not everyone does that, and knowing what the song is about makes it alot better I think. :)

I love how, with Bismarck specifically, the music has those perfect shifts between what's going on. After they set down the sound for the song in the first minute or so, the torpedo hits the Bismarck's rudder, the beginning of the end, then the melody shifts at the bridge during the pitched battle between Bismarck and the Royal Navy task force, the guitar solo following the final torpedo sealing Bismarck's fate and the thudding intensity of the following section as the surviving sailor struggles to escape the sinking ship and get to safety and then a final temp shift as the young man is picked up by a Royal navy ship, carrying his Captain's compass carrying the last co-ordinates of the Bismarck. As a history lover, the details in this song and video bring a tear to my eye. I've seen Sabaton, lucky enough to see them in London before the Pandemic lockdown happened and they were AMAZING live. Other recommended tracks from both a musical and historical standpoint: 40-1, A Lifetime of War, No Bullets Fly, Shiroyama, Attack of the Dead Men and Seven Pillars of Wisdom.
You should also listen to "midway" also from them. Its a song about the US navy facing off against the Japanese carrier fleet at the battle of Midway in the pacific during WW2.
I have seen Sabaton live in 2015 at the "Noch ein Bier Fest" in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. It has been like a one-day festival with Bloodbound, Korpiklaani, Civil War, Powerwolf and Sabaton playing. It was very rainy and windy and they were considering cancelling the show(s), but I am glad they didn't because it has been awesome! I am probably going to watch all your Sabaton reaction videos now :D
I’m glad you ended up really digging their sound. After listening to so much Nightwish, at least for me, it’s hard to fairly judge other vocalists cause Floor is superhuman. I’d recommend their newest live performance of “Attack of the Dead Men” if you want to see them do awesome stuff live. Equal production value when they play live as in many of their videos (And Hannes has a tank around his kit)
It was a lot of fun watching you react to Sabaton! I see youve already got plenty of recommendations for other songs by them so I wont bombard you but I definitely recommend seeing something live! Since the quarantine postponed their tour halfway through they've been dropping videos of their live performances every Saturday, if you wanna see more those would be good to check out. 😊
Sabaton has, for me at least, the most emotional songs from any band I've heard. There are so many songs you should definetely look out. Attack of the dead men, Fields of Verdun, Carolus Rex, The red barron, Night witches, Last dying breath. Just to name a few epic songs from them. All of them filled with history, power, emotion, respect and force.
"the last stand", " the price of a mile", " to hell and back", " primo victory" are a must to. Also they are better live and the energy the singer give off makes the show better UA-cam doesn't do them enough justice

The show was good through, so no regrets. I was impressed that they even decide to come here, as most band coming to Russia only play in 3-4 big cities.
@@everett880 Wow jelly 😤
I saw these guys open for Nightwish a few years back. Hadn't heard of them before that night, and while I remain forever a huge fan of Nightwish, Sabaton ABSOLUTELY stole the show. Their live energy is insane - if you ever get the chance to see them, do NOT miss out.
For other songs, check out Ghost Division, Night Witches, Carolus Rex, or The Lost Battalion. They also have a cover of Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God that is pretty awesome.
Damn, that would have been a hell of a show! I've only seen the punk equivalent with Dropkick Murphys opening for Bad Religion.
Considering the drummer is married to Floor from Nightwish, I’m not surprised they opened a show for them.
I saw their show in DC last year my first concert ever and it was AMAZING it gave me high expectations for any future concerts I go
Fields of Verdun live
Attack of dead men live
The last stand live
The red Barron live
Swedish pagans live
To hell and back live
These are all really epic live show videos and are really good too.
Yes, To hell and back!
Their live shows are amazing and they really engage with the crowd. NEVER miss an opportunity!!!
Thank you Tank for not just presenting great musik but also give hisorik information.
We got some bands here in Scandinavia.. They are called Floor and Hannes and some of them are marrried you know?
Fun Fact about this Bismarck video... Wargaming (A game developers known for World of Tanks and World of Warships) was in collaboration with Sabaton on this one, they are the one who made the CGI for the ships since the Bismarck itself was sunk during WWII and sits VERY deep on sea floor, so deep in fact that sunlight does not travel there anymore and the pressure is inhumanly high at this depth, so they ended collaborating with Wargaming so they could have great, realistic CGI of the Bismarck even though it was sunk so long ago.
I love that you have per-artist playlists. Thanks for that.
I followed you through Nightwish. Now I'm going down the Sabaton rabbit hole with you.
I think I figured it out! The reason I dig your vibe so much as you’re so super respectful of the musicians and the production.
Thanks for the appreciation, man!
That's awesome! Haha. I've written Uneven Structure down so I'll definitely check it out!
@@TankTheTech you're a good man bro, one of the best
Point of fact Joakim straight up swaps the jacket. My Brother in law has one from one of their UK gigs. I've also seen him give someone wearing the look who was the wrong size his shades.
I´ve been already at 5 of their concerts over the years and they are simply epic every time. Cant wait when they will tour again.
Nice! \m/
Scott! What's going on?! #8XNation!!🤘
Saw them last year in Dallas. Their show is definitely worth the price of admission.
I have seen them live a bunch of times and i can promise there's a lot of energy going on on stage. They have their own festival in sweden, Sabaton Open Air.
This is without a doubt the best reaction to sabaton I have ever seen. Finely someone that knows something about music. You have a new subscriber now.
Thank you so much! Much appreciated! 🤘
I had plans to see them live in 2020. Guess how that went...
Their Great War tour is absolutely amazing production wise.
That was my favorite sabaton reaction so far man! Glad you liked it 🤘🏻 I listen to sabaton since the first album and always love to see people's reactions when they hear sabaton for the first time! Greetings from Germany brother 💪🏻
Thanks a ton, man! 💪
These guys are the absolute best live show I've ever seen. And I've seen nightwish several times.....
And I should say, it wasnt the production values, I saw them in a smaller venue as an opener (opening for floors old band ironically). The amount of energy they bring to the stage is unmatched
what is floor's old band? she's still in nightwish right?
@@bungkus5136 Her biggest band before nightwish was probably After Forever. I saw her with ReVamp, which was her most recent project before nightwish
And yes she's still in nightwish
I’ve seen them live 3 times, and every single time was like running a damn marathon, these guys knows how to get a crowd going for sure.
Motörhead is an influence.
Sabaton has three songs which are about their influences: "Metal Crüe", "Metal Machine" and "Metal Ripper"
Great to know. I quickly googled some stuff after watching yesterday, but never came across any interviews or articles specifically mentioned Motorhead, and I was like "no fucking way can Motorhead NOT be an influence on these guys". Haha
@@TankTheTech Tommy, Sabaton's guitarist, reminds me of a young Meat Loaf. He is a tremendously funny guy.
@@ChrisPage68 Speaking of Tommy. He should react to Tommy's other band ReinXeed or as they're now known Majestica.
@@HALberdier17 NOT ReinXeeds cover of ABBA-songs! They are the worst known.
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the reaction for the one of my fav song of my favorite Swedish heavy/power metal band!) Now, when I watch you reaction to Bismark and hear the song once again, it gives me chills and almost makes me cry (even if I can't consider myself a sentimental person at all). Thank you very much once again and Greetings from Russian fan and relatively new subscriber of your great reaction chanel) My suggestions are 82-d All The Way and Attack Of The Deadman))
🤘🤘🤘
By far the best live video of them EVER is "ghost division" followed by "40 -1" both live in Woodstock poland I highly recommend them
Fun fact, the guy with the compass in the video, was the final survivor from the actual battleship Bismark.
When it comes to recommendations,
Field of Verdun,
Red Baron,
40:1 Live at woodstock (As a Roadie, you'll really appreciate the props)
Attack of the dead men
Panzerkampf
White Death
The list continues as they have loads of great songs and you're right, their live shows are amazing.
Very cool to hear some Swedish, Hammerfall in the background!
Wow the hair came out! 😂
One of the best productions on a metal video.
in germany they where called "noch ein Bier!"
Nice to have Hammerfall in the background while introducing the video ^^
Tommy Johansson, the lead guitarist is also the lead singer in another band called Majestica (former Reinxeed). They have made two sick albums with covers of old swedish bands like ABBA, Roxette and Ace of base
Tommy is EPIC - simultaneously one of the best metal guitarists AND one of the best metal vocalists I've ever heard!
Thank you for opening my eyes and ears to this incredible band.🤘
That’s awesome! Glad I can discover new music with other people!
Side note: The last survivor of the Bismarck, Mister Bernhard Heuer, died in 2018
just found you....watch like ALL of your videos now and im stunned. Best Music-reaction channel so far. love the way you describe your feelings about the songs because i feel the same most of the time. Keep doing it......
Thanks a ton! I’m definitely gonna keep going.
Did someone say "I was expecting an epic solo? Um...OK"
Recommend Fields of Verdun, 82nd all the way, Devil Dogs, Night Witches, Red Barron,
Fields of verdun definitely, or to hell and back
Attack of the dead men !
Attack of the dead men and the red barron. 82nd all the way is also a great one
Sergiu Osan fields of vurdun
Prime time Tank,I miss you. But happy new year anyhow:)
Once again I can’t wait 😁 I know this band and this song well 😎 I hope you know Hannes Van Dahl is Floor Jansen’s husband 😉 They live on a farm in the Swedish countryside and they’re super nice, down to earth people 👍 They have a daughter named Freya who they keep out of the spotlight, too 😊
Have a fantastic night, I’ll be sure to watch tomorrow morning, and thanks in advance for another great video 🎸
I did know that, all because of you guys in the comments. I even mentioned it in this video! 😄
TankTheTech LOL 😆 The Nightwish Army is everywhere 😜 Get ready for the Sabaton Army as well🤘

This track hits me every time I hear it. Great reaction , keep up the great vids
First time I ever heard Sabaton was at a show where they were touring with Nightwish... It was my soon to be wifes first experience with metal music, and I don't think I could have asked for a better show.
They're killer live. Most of their songs are really energetic and powerful. I've never sweated as much in any other concert.
I've seen them live EVERY time they've come to California, The first time I saw them was with Amon Amarth and let me tell you, Sabaton puts on a HELL OF A SHOW
Holy shit. That must have been an _amazing_ show!
Hey I'm back again, Forgot I watched this already, But I'm seeing them again with Epica in a couple weeks! EXCITING
Ive seen them a few times here in sweden and their shows are amazing, this is surely something u have to check out when this pandemic is over. Great reaction videos btw
I'll definitely plan on seeing them. Thanks a ton!
Sabaton - Carolus Rex (the great tour) live Stockholm. Its the greatest.
As a Swede I really enjoy this! Love seeing your reaction and not only for Sabaton! I really enjoy your videos 🤘🏻
Thank you!
Outstanding reaction, welcome to the world of Sabaton where you get a free history lesson with every power packed metal moment. If you're wanting to check out more how about
"40:1" live at Woodstock Poland 2012
"Ghost division" same show
"The red baron" live in Berlin 2019
"Primo Victoria" although the official video is epic as hell do the lyric version. The tank noises in the video cover up too much of the song.
"To hell and back"
"Screaming eagles"
"Devil dogs"
"Seven pillars of wisdom"
And "metal crew" and "metal machine" are more akin to the history of metal music than warfare but I'm betting you'll love em.
(And this is the short list)
Another awesome band xD, can't wait for this reaction
Metal and a history lesson. Kinda like chocolate and peanut butter. Hooah.
Modern day bards.
Hair came down for this video. Thank you! - Deine Haare dafür zu metaln, ist eine der größten Ehre xD Danke und dir alles gute :D
Tank: "I was expecting a massive, epic solo there. I was wrong!"
Me: give it a minute
Gotta watch some live. I've seen them 3 times and plan on more. Incredible
Awesome! Looking forward to this.
In the first scene when Bismarck appears i always get goosebumps.
Been following sabaton for couple of years now since randomly coming onto them on UA-cam and your channel, also been listening to Amon Amarth since graduating high school back in 2004 haven’t seen them live yet, on my bucket list of things to do. I love the Swedish power medal genre a lot, also like Hammerfall, Nightwish, and Children Of Bodom as well
Ghost Division live at Woodstock 2012 😍
Hammerfall - Hearts on Fire. great choice for a background song
You need to see them live if all that corona shit is over, at the moment this by far (in my opinion) one of best bands to have the experience to see in a live concert with the most powerful Sound, an awesome stage with beautiful pyrotechnique and live elements that only a few Bands will ever achieve!! Have seen them live about 8 Times the last 3 years and it has been an absolute pleasure and i can only recommend every Single Person to go to one of their concerts😍
And yes, the live shows are at least as good as the studio songs💪
I do love how the drummer and then the shot of the round hitting the ship is synced.
Some of my favorite Sabaton songs, i'm sure you'll love all of them!
Carolus Rex
Sparta
Seven Pillars of Wisdom
Winged Hussars
Lion from the North
Shiroyama
Ghost Division
Btw It's awesome to see that you do the research before listening to the song so you know what it's about. Not everyone does that, and knowing what the song is about makes it alot better I think. :)
Fields Of Verdun!
If you can see them in concert, they are absolutely amazing. We saw them in Denver last year. Amazing!

They DO bring it live...have been to most Sabaton events in Sweden since 2003...great band live!
"the last stand", " the price of a mile", " to hell and back", " primo victory" are a must to. Also they are better live and the energy the singer give off makes the show better UA-cam doesn't do them enough justice
Nice pick to react to! Awesome band - first time saw them at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney - (opening for Nightwish) Fan ever since.
