You just can't beat these normal fishing videos, simple does the job. I remember being young with my old man having the time of my life with a float and a bag of corn.
Great video as always guys - Had some of my best Tench on sweetcorn. Think I can go one better on the cheap baits though ;-) The last 2 weeks have been fishing a local lake in Iver, home to Carp, Bream and some cracking silvers, with my brother. The small Perch kept hitting me on maggot and worm whilst I was getting a lot of knocks and lifts but no proper bites on 6mm pellet. Overhanging the water was an elderberry bush - I thought it logical that these would fall in to the water and the fish would take them so picked some and stuck them on the hook. Cue a Roach frenzy - Over 50 the first weekend averaging 8oz with a biggest at 1lb 4oz, around 20 last week running up to 12oz. Also bounced something very heavy which I suspect was a Carp. Total cost of bait - £0
This season, I'd say 70% of the carp I've caught was on using bread. I usually fish with two rods, I cast one with a boilie or a pop wafters or meat and leave it on the buzzer. The other rod I'd either float fish or use a quiver tip rod. But when I float, it's either on the surface or on laying on the bottom. I always catch each time I go. Bread you cannot go wrong.
great topic for an episode. x Also, your book is fantastic. Since it's arrival my son has taken it to bed and we look through it every night. It has all the information we need and the illustrations are fantastic. it's clear you all put in so much work. Great result, nice job. x
I've got rid of all my carbon and graphite reels. Bought a load of cane and cap and Mitchell cast metal reels.. Precision engenering change the allow cogs for brass and they spin with 1 spin of the hand for over a minute.. The Hardy and Alcock rods are great. Just get new tops made for 100 each. And it's green clean fishing... Just makes the experance feel better.. I'm sourcing cotten branded lines made of cotton and silk. Strong stuff.. Will try the spam dog food
I’m not a specimen angler I’m pretty old school when it comes to fishing I have the carp rods etc but for me nothing beats the waggler rod with a porcupine float and a lump of meat or if later on in the session when it gets darker il switch to a bubble float and float a bit of crust I love it 😍
For the last couple of years I've often used tins of Tulip Bacon Grill obtainable from larger Tesco's branches, as Spam has become so soft and soggy. The BG works just as well, but is a little firmer and stays on the hook better, especially when Punched and presented on a Drennan Pushstop.
Absolutely love these videos. I’d be really interested on the rod, reel and line combo you use for this light/surface fishing. Whenever I try, I find I can’t cast very far with light baits and end up in line tangles. Thanks for all you do!
I’ve also found tinned hotdogs to be one of the best Baits for me , I’ve caught countless double figure carp on a simple hair rig with some hotdogs whilst anglers all around me blank
Great tutorial!!! Don’t forget cheese and peas though!!! Back when I was a kid our family was quiet poor. On a Sunday afternoon my brothers and I used the remains of the Sunday roast for bait. Potatoes carrots peas and we couldn’t afford traditional meat for our roast so the left over sausage was a great bait too!!! Each bait caught fish on it’s day….
Thank you Bob! Amazing. So true. And fun to see what works too. Omi and I caught a carp on a piece of apple once. I also caught a chub on a blackberry picked from a bush. It is absolutely possible to catch fish on other things :)
I caught a 20lb carp on corn 2 weeks into fishing, stalked the fish from the surface, having spent a fortune on boilies and pellets and such, corn is always going to be in my bag as an essential bait.
I'm in Melbourne Aus, corn kernals and bread have always been my go too when fish are not taking worm or power bait. Trout, Carp and Roach wiĺl take corn. Roach seem to prefer the compressed crust. Haven't caught anything on spam save for a freshwater Turtle.
best break is the morrisons extra thick but look for the ones that have been baked a bit longer with the darker crust, by for the best for surface fishing.
Bubble float is good if you need to get your bread out further. They take on water, which provides weight, are transparent so don't spook the fish too much and they float. Never tried with carp, used exclusively with floating bread for mullet. Also, hard, super smelly cheese for big river chub.
Good tip. Beans don't get used enough. A good summer bulker, when they want a lot of food. Fish have much simpler taste buds than us mammals, and respond well to simple protein rich foods.
Another good option is to buy feed corn, soak it for 24 hours, and then boil it for an hour :) That works wonders too, and it's even cheaper than buying sweetcorn from the supermarket.
Tins for hookbait, frozen for throwing. Refreeze it after if you haven't used it all. The freezing and defrosting process breaks the fibres in the kernels down. More mushy and smelly. 😉 Just don't get the fishbag and the hoomanbag confused in the freezer....
Im jealous at the price of corn you have in the store. Here (NL) shops dont even sell frozen corn, only cans, and they are expensive! If i want cheap corn, i can only order it online, dried.
Watching this now is absolutely mind blowing, the change in prices we've had in around a year is astonishing, lol. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fair bit cheaper than tackle shop bait, but wow.
Hey guys just wondering if you have a video on different leads etc, looking at joining a new lake and being really new to carp/lake fishing there's alot of new rules I need to follow. At the moment I'm using an inline lead I believe where the weight has the line going through it and it can move freely up and down the line. I've been told I need a semi fixed/something else and I'm not exactly sure what I need.
Bread doesn't "fall off the hook after one cast", if you use it right. Buy the right bread, not hovis, warburtons is good. Hovis is all air and bleach. Keep your bread fresh, balance the size of the bait to the hook, mould a soft part of the bread round the shank, and don't break the grain. If you want to use it at distance, you can always microwave and roll it, and/or hair rig it. It shouldn't "fall off"... and spam isn't cheap. Generic cheap meat is better, because it's full of fat and contains more gristle, which makes it hook better. Take it out of the tin, and put it in the fridge for 24 hours, which gives it a nice skin. For chub, hotdogs are just as good, and half the price. but meat will never out-fish bread.
Had the best carp session I've ever had using luncheon meat we cubed it up and covered it in chilli powder we honestly didn't get a chance to sit down all morning it was non stop
Great video!! Im wondering i was on a lake in france and the owner came from the uk. He told me he use marmite on boilies and bread for catching carp couse its salty. Dit you ever tryed that or it isnt that good for a carp🙈😂👍. Sorry if my english is bad... Gr. Dave
Having massive problems with cormorants at the moment on my local river bait fish have become basically non existent which seems to have moved the pike on? This time last year had already had several doubles biggest being 18lb 4, had a least 6 or 7 blank sessions now fishing same methods which were so successful last year? Will this temporary or does this mean my local stretch is now and will continue to be no good?
I'm 67, fishing since I was 7, I use meat, corn, loaf, worms, maggots, cheese, hemp ! What else do you need?? Refuse to fall into the angling retail trap of super duper pellets and poles
guys your vids are always top quality just want to ask alot of carp waters that i fish have banned bread due to it being bad for them do you agree ?????
WHEN are these brands going to finally start sponsoring anglers? We all know the best baits come out of the supermarket! I mean, does anyone actually eat spam anymore? Change the name the instant impact carp spam and its good for 6.99 a can lol!

Very cool ^^ and something ill keep in mind, I've seen people use bugs on lakes that naturally have a lot there, never thought about this though.
Would that lake be Wood Lane by any chance?
@@albybunday1767 It is indeed

Amazing stuff! Thanks for the message :) ❤️
I would consider that a success, you caught on each bait! poor skimmer and dace haha didnt even count as a blank saver!
Would love to see a video on bobbins and bite indication dos and don’ts. Me and my kids love your videos keep it up guys 👍
Top video as always! That was not a failure you caught at each venue, on each bait, and got 3 different species. I'd say you completed the challenge 😊

Sounds great
Fun to see you in that last stretch of river, remember your early days when you were there quite a lot
Yes! One of our original spots, not as productive as it used to be though. Still nice to be down there though!
I am STILL not done with all of your content guys! and I couldnt be more happy about it at that hahaha!
Cheers once again mates!
Awesome to hear that Joe! Tight lines :)
Excellent production and quality tutorial
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it!

Like how you went back to that old fishing spot at the Little river defo seen that in the old videos 👌👍
Nice vid buddy changing it up good for ppl who r learning keep them coming

Can catch fish anywhere on the planet with corn even in salt water Great bait!
I caught a 20lb carp on corn 2 weeks into fishing, stalked the fish from the surface, having spent a fortune on boilies and pellets and such, corn is always going to be in my bag as an essential bait.
Another great video.
I find bacon grill is better than spam or luncheon meat. It is firmer. I sometimes give it a quick fry to get those oils flowing
I used to do that too but quickly gave up as the temptation to throw it between the bread and eat it myself was always too much! 😆
Bread crumbs and grated cheese molded into a boillie, Winner every time, for Chub and Barble
Another fantastic video Carl thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Robert :)
Keep it up carl and alex your tutorials always help improve my angling
So glad to hear they're helped :)
Always been good baits and always will. It’s not about boilies all the time. Nice one Carl 👍 another good video as usual .
Great video lads 👍🏻
Big fan I love the videos you inspired me to fish and it’s Been so mush fun
Glad to hear it and best of luck with your fishing! :)
havent even watched can already tell this is going to be a good one where i fish carp only feed on luncheon meat and bread
Fun Fact, in Germany Spam meat is not available (of course we have other canned meat) so it's very expensive. About 10€ on Amazon 😂🙈
Sweetcorn and meat are the baits I use the most. Both are great for many different species.
Brilliant video keep up the work
Great video as always.
Glad you enjoyed it Maria :)
Another excellent video again keep up the good work boy's 👍
Cheers Marcus!
Another great video guys 👍🏼
Hi Carl today I cuaght a perch on curried Spam and cuaght a chub on spam as well

@@DomFishingUK Did you see how fast Chris ran with the net for Carl . I but he does't normaly go the fast

My 3 go to baits alongside boiles
Thank u so much Carl that rlly helped me u are amazing fisher Man U inspired me 🎉
Carl talking bread colour difference - "White bread gets more attention" then continues to use the crust🤷🏻♂️😂
Bubble float is good if you need to get your bread out further. They take on water, which provides weight, are transparent so don't spook the fish too much and they float. Never tried with carp, used exclusively with floating bread for mullet. Also, hard, super smelly cheese for big river chub.
Chick peas for match carp fishing, 2 wins, 2 seconds and a fourth in 5 weekends...
Also haricot beans are great for F1's and Bream...
Good tip. Beans don't get used enough. A good summer bulker, when they want a lot of food. Fish have much simpler taste buds than us mammals, and respond well to simple protein rich foods.
Always love these videos! Great location, out of curiosity what rod are you using?
Another good option is to buy feed corn, soak it for 24 hours, and then boil it for an hour :) That works wonders too, and it's even cheaper than buying sweetcorn from the supermarket.
In Russia, they catch a barbel on crustaceans from under the stones, I see for the first time what they catch on ham
You guys are soooooo good great vid
Thank you!!
I love bream. I quick knock on the head and they make a great pike bait.
Fab video as always👌💪
Cheers Jason!

Yes another video
The river looks like the same one you used to fish like 8 years ago. Is it the same one?
For carp all I use is Banoffe sweet corn sends those chunks crazy.. If I'm allowed to ground bait I only use Munga mix
Warburtons is by far the best sliced white for fishing
well done again boy's nice video
I went fishing nearly every day when I was a kid. Only ever used bread never blanked.
Great tips! 👍🏻
Make a video on what lures to use for pike fishing
Good video lads but the big bait companies must love u too..lol..👍corns the oldest and best .

Should I use hair rig and stopper for my spam or I can put straight on the hook if I use method feeder?
Going fishing today wish me luck
Hope you did well

Sounds like a mega day :) !
Bread has literally never failed me
What location was the 1st fish lovely colour
I know your a better fishmen then me 100% but the white bit off the bread is also good for surface
Great video!!
Im wondering i was on a lake in france and the owner came from the uk.
He told me he use marmite on boilies and bread for catching carp couse its salty.
Dit you ever tryed that or it isnt that good for a carp🙈😂👍.
Sorry if my english is bad...
Gr. Dave
Is spam any good for Perch fishing?
I use a apple corer for my meat and bread
What Rod u use?
Have you ever tried soaking raw chicken in garlic salt?
I seem to get alot of bites from catfish and drum
We don't use chicken as a bait in the UK, but it's relatively cheap, and would be worth an experiment. Garlic salt is an excellent additive.
great vid again always strong o cheese ever let me for chub

what hook size?
I'm 67, fishing since I was 7, I use meat, corn, loaf, worms, maggots, cheese, hemp ! What else do you need?? Refuse to fall into the angling retail trap of super duper pellets and poles
99p for a pan of hovis white. Here in Ireland you would need bank loan to buy that.
A lot of pools don’t allow surface feeding ,,
Ah really, what country are you from? Here in the UK there's no restriction to surface fishing.
Float fished Spam would have been a good option at the lake as the Corn wasn't doing so well.
guys your vids are always top quality just want to ask alot of carp waters that i fish have banned bread due to it being bad for them do you agree ?????
What line weight\strength do you use for catching carp like in this video?
6 or 8lb line is suitable for fish of this size in this video :)
what the name a river?
Love this video, not everyone can afford a 5kg bag of boils. and this video shows you can catch without expensive bait. Keep smashing it lads!
Cheers Andy!! :)
WHEN are these brands going to finally start sponsoring anglers? We all know the best baits come out of the supermarket! I mean, does anyone actually eat spam anymore? Change the name the instant impact carp spam and its good for 6.99 a can lol!
I think SPAM is quite unique to the UK though 😅
also can find a few worms right on the bank.
The best thing about fising with sweet corn that you can just eat it
Great baits
White bread is only better when there is not a lot off other fisherman fishing with bread if there are Brown bread Will work better
