This makes me furious. We anglers have paid hundreds of thousands, if not millions of pounds to the environment agency over the years and they do NOTHING to help when we need them. What DO they actually do????!!!! Well done on the fish you did save
What do they do? Charge you a fee, so you don't get a fine. Like "God"..."let me in, so I can save you from what I'm going to do to you, if you don't let me in". We've had the same problem, here in Michigan...on the river that I salmon fish. State stopped the salmon stocking program. The local tribe offered to take it up, at no expense to the state...state said "NOPE...we're not doing it, and nobody else is either...(because WE don't have control)".
@@fermiticus4034 i dont think you know why the great lake states stop stocking salmon. Their prey (alewives) were declining, salmon were first introduced to reduce huge alewife dieoffs that spoiled beaches. The states stocked too many salmon with not enough food. It was a waste of state money if they fish weren't going to survive. Also, most of the fish returning to the rivers were naturally spawned fish. It's good to do a lot of research before saying BS.
@@codkue5142 You're making assumptions about the depth of the knowledge I possess. Not that I'm an expert on, or have full knowledge of the details for this particular instance. I do know why salmon were introduced. As a byproduct, it created a great fishery...which brings millions $$$ to the businesses of coastal "fishing towns", plus million$ in licensing for the state. The town I fish near, is dying a slow death. There's a lot less people now, than there was when fishing was really good. More and more businesses boarded up every year. There WAS six bait/tackle shops in town, 10 years ago, all of which were doing great. As of last year, there was one...just hanging in there. Many other small businesses are gone as well.
I'm disgusted that your offers to repair the damage were turned down, it seems a no-brainer to me. Dealing with councils is never as straightforward as it should be.
@@jo15518 i can understand them turning down a non professional to work on structural damage for a dam. But they should at least address the problem. I don't understand them turning down crowd funding to raise money that could be given to a professional to fix it

The sinic in me would be looking at a wider picture to see if the council are doing it for a reason.. maybe future housing site or other, as long as the lakes not there.. by saving it you may have scuppered their plans. Go on lads fair play. Keep up the good work. Love the videos.
same here in Sydney Auz , bicycle lanes put in , no body uses them and the bikes all use the car lanes . councils live in their own world and bugger the rest of us.
Hm interesting. At least here in Pittsburgh the new bike lanes are greatly welcomed and we do have a sizable cycling community. Shame to see that’s not the case everywhere.
@@lizaelliott6862 Unfortunately, many cities either poorly plan their bike lanes making them unsafe to start with, or they just don't do basic maintenance on them. No one seems to realize that the edges of the road is where all the gravel, bits of cars, etc... all end up eventually. Making the bike lanes outright dangerous to use. I have had local cops yell at me to use the bike lanes and yet when I did I had to come to a complete stop as it was more of a gravel road than a paved one due to all the gravel from nearby construction. Yet no one ever punishes the construction companies for all the trash and gravel they leave in the streets. My city also will have a bike lane on one side of the street only, or there will be one for about 1/10th of a mile only for it to abruptly stop. Getting cars to let you merge back takes so long that it is a waste of time to even use the short section of bike lane in the first place. In general, it is safer to make cars give you space in the road vs hoping that they will. By doing stuff like riding only in the middle of lanes instead of at the side of a lane because then cars will try and use that little bit of extra space to pass you unsafely.
I feel that pain I was a fisheries officer for just under three years. In that time I learnt that the EA and local councils and wildlife trust are not there for the angler I’m afraid. Some time’s it’s better to walk away in your hart you want to do all you can but it will destroy everything you love about that place . to then be told you cannot even fist it anyway. your friend Tom knows the club in question it’s so hard you probably will find there is plans for this lake to become a bird wildlife sanctuary so fish are relevant. All I can say is do your best but do not over do it
Truly inspirational. Well done to all involved. You are a credit to your society and angling as a whole. The sooner that it’s understood that anglers love the fish and wish to preserve them and the other species which inhabit a lake, the better!
I hope the council that owns and runs the lake feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Again this shows how anglers are the heart of any water. Commendable efforts all involved.
Well done that’s a top effort, it’s sickening that had you not stepped in the lake could have faced a wipeout. Keep making noise and applying pressure, really hope you get somewhere. We faced a similar situation years ago on a small lake left over after two huge gravel pits were backfilled. Almost every local angler cut their teeth on it and the council were no help when needed and were happy to let the lake dry up with the loss of a lot of fish and wildlife, not only no help but actually tried to stop anyone resolving the problems. We ignored them and the EA and dug out the silted feeder channel and saved the lake, sometimes you just gotta do what you need to do.
Great to see you taking the time and effort to effect change. I live in Thunder Bay, Ont, Canada where we are spoiled with excellent fishing in countless lakes and rivers but have witnessed in the southern areas of our province how quickly things can degrade if there isn't any concern or stewardship. Keep up the awesome work!
Keep making as much noise as possible about it, We all know local councils like East Sussex dont like being left red faced, maybe just maybe they will relent & hopefully if locals can get a residents petition going that supports fishing and preservation of the park for the health & well being of all its users human four legged or finned

Typical of the council no resources?6 blokes looking into a hole at the side of the road while 1 breast feeds the shovel is all I ever see no wonder they've no resources...
Well done too all of you who got involved and done your best to help this awful situation 🙌
The council idiots that have no idea what they're doing, and should be shown up for there lack of understanding anything. A massive big well done to you Carl and Alex, you done a great job and to all the people that helped out with saving nature from disappearing from us all. We need more people like you to open up the eyes of beaurocratic council wallers who are grossly over paid for doing nothing. Big well done to all who helped 👏 👍
Brilliant and how ironic that the fish u got accused of killing on the park lake campaign u actually saved 👌
Top lads 👌
Unfortunately most councils are run by corrupt counsellors that are only interested in lining their own pockets with dodgy deals in unaffordable property. The countryside environment is of their least concern as it takes to long to make money from it!
Good on you for doing whats morally right and setting a positive example. Great to see!!!!
Not most - all of them! Every single one of them lie on their expense claims, and thats just the start.
Your so right there mate! The mayor of liverpool is up for corruption & dodgy dealing & intimidation! They have a party at xmas which costs £10,000 using public money!
You should be proud of yourselves, you came together and collectively did something amazing. Every one of you deserve a huge round of applause 👏
I feel like all of us anglers have those special places that we use to fish at as kids that we went to see preserved and passed on to future generations. I hope you are able to save the lake. Keep up the hard work and don't get discouraged!
Wildlife trust doesnt want to protect the wildlife 🤷🏼♂️
Totally agree with your opinion I feel exactly the same.
Wildlife trusts are only interested in making money.
You're amazing Carl and the other guys who helped you. Amazing to see that people still take care of the environment, although the responsible authorities won't do it. Thank you and respect to you for keeping nature safe!
Epic work to everyone involved. Great to see Carl and Alex using there social media platform to voice the trueth. Too many lakes going to waste these days
Absolutely fantastic story and great video, well done lads. The fact you took it upon yourselves to do your best to resolve a terrible problem shows the type of people you are.
Keep up the good work 👍
Lol, "We won't take care of the lake but we sure aren't going to let you use it or take care of it." Government efficiency at it's finest.
Uk councils for you absolutely useless 😂😂
"Hey Authoroties, fix the stuff you're resposible for..?"
"Nah, we couldn't afford the drain on our meagre resources"
"We understand, times are tough. Tell you what, let US fix that stuff being as we get loads from it..?"
"Nah, we couldn't afford the loss of face from our meagre souls..."
BTW, did the guy who accused you of killing the big common turn up and help?
LMFAO
Thing is, the majority of councils in the UK have tens of millions stashed away in overseas bank accounts,
@@tonyford4170 politicians maybe, money skimmed off the council budget, maybe, illicit payments to favoured parties, probably. But why would a council have overseas bank accounts? Who benefits when the personnel changes? Don't get me wrong I'm no fan but I genuinely dont see what the motivation for that would be...
@@stevengreenhough4232 The Icelandic banking crisis of 2008, it was widely reported that uk councils lost tens of millions of uk£ during that year, but were able to claw some of it back.
I never thought I’d cry for fish. Welcome to 2020.
Try watching Seaspiracy on Netflix
You should be extremely proud of yourself and all who helped efforts.
Incredible video to watch, to see the angling and local community work tirelessly to preserve what you did.
To hear the local authority wanted essentially nothing to do with it, and even turn down request from you to do the work... is quite frankly disgusting.
Be proud of yourselves, I'm sure everyone watching feels proud of you all.
Cheers!
I genuinely cried my eyes out. You are wonderful. Simple.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys have come so far and are absolutely amazing anglers, Your commitment and dedication throughout has been nothing short of amazing. The world needs more people like you 2 and you have given it your all to try to save and preserve the fish and lake in this video. Never give up on your passion or commitment as I believe others should follow in your footsteps whilst you create your own Legacy. Tight lines .... And stay safe. Massive respect to you both for your incredible efforts !!
WHAT AN AWSOME BUNCH OF PEOPLE "WELL DONE" Another good deed to the fishermen also so a personal WELLDONE from me. 🕊
Great work. Unfortunately in England most councils & agencies have zero interest in saving places like this, they're only concerned about profit & building houses over the top of nature. Fantastic to see people come together to save places of importance like this.
Amazing work as always guys, it angers me that the ones who should had saved the lake didn't care or do anything to help, what a shame, hope that in future you guys can fish there again
Amazing video and you lads are the next generation to show that fisherman are not cruel and uncaring but actually the best protectors for our lakes and rivers.
Keep being an inspiration and from one older angler you have my utmost gratitude
what a massive attempt to save the fish despite the council acting like 10 years olds it was nice to see the fishermen stepping up and trying your best to save the lake and the fish hats off to you fair play ............subscribed ;-)
Well done all of you . And the guys who lent you the pumps and tackle to get the job done 👍
The things you guys do for the angling community is amazing!!
Amazing work!! Setting a great example of how it's our responsibility to protect the wildlife and it's habitat! You went above and beyond! Keep up the good work!
You boys are very inspirational to watch. You should take solace from the fact that you have gone above and beyond to try and save those lost fish. So very impressed with you. Amazing effort
The 1st video i watched of you was at this lake it inspired me to get fishing and really made me a happier person. it is possibly your most important video ever. It put you on the map for fishing influences on youtube. i hope this lake will be looked after and youll be able to fish it again.
Carl and Alex single handedly saving 2020, One youtube Video at a time
The 64 dislikes were from the Council
Then they need to be voted out at the next election.
You two are the very definition of community, compassion and maturity. You are a fine example that with persistence, foresight and an eye on the future, You will accomplish great things even when leaders and governments are driven by their own short sightedness. Carl & Alex I salute you both and expect nothing less than your best as we move forward. :)
top man... and thumb's up to all those who helped.... this world need's more people like you all... keep up the good work.. peace and love.......
It’s obvious what they do... they check for fishing licenses 🤷🏼♂️
Cut down dead trees in the middle of nowhere to eliminate the 1 in a 453,554,444,764,654 change it might fall over and kill somebody....
Well done all you guys who worked your butts off to save this pretty little lake, Two fingers up to the council who couldn't care less
I'm disgusted that your offers to repair the damage were turned down, it seems a no-brainer to me. Dealing with councils is never as straightforward as it should be.
until they demand their council tax !!!!
iv had the same near a pond near me, the council literally are a waste of air.
@@jo15518 i can understand them turning down a non professional to work on structural damage for a dam. But they should at least address the problem. I don't understand them turning down crowd funding to raise money that could be given to a professional to fix it
Nothing in it for them. Politicians are parasitic graft artists. Belong in an anoxic zone, for life.
@@ToolforOffice Exactly. They of course have a right to evaluate the plan to fix the dam and comment on it in order to make it compliant with the rules (they are responsible for it after all) but a straight-up refusal like this is just maddening. They view just as an increased workload and don't care about the actual benefits.
anglers coming together and trying their best to fix the problem is amazing respect to each person there. The fishing community is unbelievable
Thank you for sharing this vlog with us lads.
The park lake and the reservoir diaries are the videos that have made me a fan of you both, i will never forget when Alex was locked in battle with that huge Carp and when his line snapped i nearly fell of my chair, i was that gutted for him it felt like i had lost the fish myself.
It's great to see that you are giving back to the place that has given you both (and us) so much.
Good luck with your new adventure wherever it may take you.
So this morning I was contacted by East Sussex county council a girl called Laura she asked me whereabouts this lake was because I don't know I am going to forward this video to her !
This is what sets them apart from other fishing youtubers. They genuinely care about the fish instead of doing only what pulls the most views etc
Just goes to show where all your rod licence money to the "environmental"agency goes to.... the fact that the anglers are the ones physically helping out and putting hard work in and the council then bans fishing.... what a total failure of the authorities. Once again..
You are great guys! I don't have enough words to express the admiration i feel for you. In the same time i can't believe the council did not care less of the situation and can't express in words how revolted i feel because if their ignorance. I salute you and your great spirit.
Man this video made me shed a tear, you are an amazing person! Big cheer to you and all the people who did their best to save the lake!
I remember when this was happening didn’t realise how severe it was well done for all your efforts really wish I could of helped out some way.
Well done to everyone involved it this fantastic effort 👍🏻 it’s very disappointing that the council won’t help protect the lake
Hi guys I'm local and have messged the council with my concerns. I'll be sharing your video with whom I can as I think the council should be held accountable for there total lack of action. I hope you have more luck with the new owner and if I can help please let me know
nice one shame this council
East Sussex Council
American Angler here great work you have done. We appreciate your work to protect a Fishery God bless
we need more caring people in this country like you well done cant praise you enough
The sinic in me would be looking at a wider picture to see if the council are doing it for a reason.. maybe future housing site or other, as long as the lakes not there.. by saving it you may have scuppered their plans. Go on lads fair play. Keep up the good work. Love the videos.
Yet they’ve just spent millions putting up cycle lanes that no one uses... joke.
same here in Sydney Auz , bicycle lanes put in , no body uses them and the bikes all use the car lanes . councils live in their own world and bugger the rest of us.
Hm interesting. At least here in Pittsburgh the new bike lanes are greatly welcomed and we do have a sizable cycling community. Shame to see that’s not the case everywhere.
@@lizaelliott6862 most cyclists in britain are wankers anyway im glad they aint more over here
Why do you think the building companies get the projects? Of course the people involved are getting kickbacks from the companies.
All I can say is do your best but do not over do it
Well done lads this is the reason i go my lake to see what's happening
Sorry you lost so many fish hope it comes back. Great job.
Well done lads credit to the angling world no words 👌👌
That 99 disliker must be all the council staff and counsellors.... I feel sorry for them, if it was me, I couldn't look in the mirror...
Great effort from you guys. The local councils are hopeless
Absolutely disgusting that neither authority will allow the restoration of this lake!! A petition maybe? I can't believe a wildlife trust has no interest in saving a wildlife area Disgusting!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Well done lads & all who stepped up to save the lake & the surviving fish 😊
You lads and everyone who helped these fish are absolute legends. Keep us up to date on how the lake is going.👍
Follow you guys channel after getting back into fishing. Just seen the video on Ticthling Lake. Huge respect to you Carl for the efforts made in rescuing the lake and wanting to take on the long term work.
Hats off lads amazing
Keep it up you two. I hope the wildlife Trust will listen to you more than the council did
Best fishing account on UA-cam ❤️
Well done guys , this is familiar story everywhere , unfortunately you are fighting the suits in the local offices and there budgets , so nice to see the locals helping out as well , thumbs up lads..
Mad respect to you guys and the local anglers for pouring your hearts out to save this sanctuary.
What I don't understand is that why the council doesn't lend their helping hand? Isn't it their job to take care of this place? How ironic this is!
Please keep us updated with any progress you get, I know we see enough petitions, but perhaps a petition to the local wildlife department may help with your cause. Stay safe. X
Very kind of the council to take away the pumps during a oxygen crash on the lake, just shows how much they care.
WOW! So sad the authorities just gave up and wouldn’t even accept your help to fix the underlying problems 😢...Great job to everyone that helped out 🥳
Well done to all involved for stepping up and saving the remaining fish, your all a credit to anglers and good luck with trying to save the lake.👏🏻👍🏻
Well done Carl fair play to you and everyone that helped in saving the fish.
