I am a very honest person, but have learned to be careful with my honesty. Different situations require different approaches with honesty. In some situations, it’s best not to say nothing at all but listen.

October 2020 i was seeing a very hardcore Christian guy that my close friend introduced me to, keep in mind i was very hesitant on giving a new guy a chance because i’ve been hurt in the past by confusing guys who weren’t ready to commit to me prior before to meeting this Christian religious immature boy. My friend at the time kept convincing me to take a chance on him and even promised me that he wasn’t going to hurt me but he did at the end. Long story short i took my friend’s word for it and i took a chance on her guy friend. Obviously me and this new guy i was seeing were pretty great in the beginning but a month or two later he told me he was waiting on specific signs and deadlines from God to see if i was the one or not for him since he was hurt in the past and wants to find his wife. I was started to lose hope relationship wise. I was a new Christian and still am but i was kinda caught off guard with the guy waiting on specific signs and deadlines from God to see if i was the one or not for him. I was honest with him and told him how come he doesn’t make his own personal choice since God gives us that free choice. He still was persistent on doing the sign bullshit thing. I left it alone for awhile and had low expectations from that and tried to keep things as a friendship. Well months went by I was building resentment towards my guy and in January 2021, he basically said he had big good news to say which really wasn’t tbh, basically he said that he wanted to postpone dating for a year. At that point i clearly felt more discouraged and frusterated with him more and more as time went on. I even told him i was upset about it and again he was persistent on waiting on God (i shouldn’t have ignored the red flags). Just recently which was two weeks ago, i asked him if we could hangout one-on-one as FRIENDS to get to know eachother better since we’ve all hungout in groups, we should also hangout one-on-one to see where our friendship grows into. He didn’t think it was a good idea because he didn’t want our feelings to be more invested than we already are, i told him that we needed to separate our feelings versus a friendship to get to know eachother as people and as friends since we’ve only hungout in groups. He still didn’t think it was a good idea and says he will ask God when and where we could hangout. At that point i was fed up with him, and said if that’s how he feels then i guess do it. At that point i vented to our mutual friend and asked her how come she introduced me to this complicated guy because relationship and friendship wise it was all too much. I basically needed space from both of them but mostly him and my friend took my words to heart and didn’t wanna be friends anymore after that. That guy i was seeing ended up telling me i wasn’t the “one” for him and that God gave him 6 signs that prove i wasn’t the “one”. Keep in mind that this guy was so immature and caused me nothing but pain and stress within these 6 months for nothing. One of his signs from God was complete bullcrap, he then says there’s this chinese lady (keep in mind that he doesn’t know this lady personally) but someone from our church knows this lady, my guy asked God if this chinese lady is still single by december 2020, then that was the first sign that means I wasn’t the “one” for him. All these consistent stupid excuses one after another, i even asked him why did you even pursue me in the first place and clearly it showed you weren’t ready. I knew in my gut feeling that he was too much for me and he wasn’t my type to begin with either but i cared about him and took a real chance on someone. I bet you that nobody would’ve waited as much as i did for a guy to be this complicated and immature. I understand God is a big part of our lives but this guy took it to the extreme. Relationship wise, i kept my expectations low as he was showing his true colors, friendship wise i couldn’t believe that he felt the need to ask God when and where we could hangout when i sincerely want to at least be his friend. He did some other shit i didn’t like and it costed me and my friend’s friendship to end. Me and my friend never had issues or fought prior to her introducing me to this immature religious freak. I knew in my gut that was the main thing i was afraid of, taking a chance on her guy friend and what if things went wrong and could destroy my friendship which it did. But it comes to show how people show their true colors. I never went off on this religious dude i was seeing, he went off on me a few times, showed so many red flags, clearly wasn’t ready for anything serious, he would call me twice a day and text me everyday too, my friend always being put in the middle because she introduced me to him, my friend did shady shit too like whenever i would vent to her about stuff or about the guy... she would send him my personal messages that was only for her to read. I felt betrayed, depressed, angry and irritated all in one by those two. They would play the victim card also. I haven’t gone back to church since that situation a few weeks ago. I know im not perfect and i’ve made mistakes but it was no where close to them doing me dirty at the end especially mostly the guy i dated. Even after all of that i went to bible study a week ago to return my ex friend’s mask that she left in my car awhile back ago, i wanted to be a good person despite them doing me wrong. I think that will be my last bible study session for me to go to since now i don’t feel comfortable going back again. I know i should worship God despite what happened but in all honesty, i would rather preach alone than to go somewhere where i feel uncomfortable seeing my “ex” and my ex friend. That guy truly lost me because no girl probably would’ve wasted that much time and bullshit on someone that is too radical and always asking for God on every little thing to the extreme. Keep in mind, I’m a Christian, I believe in signs but when i received signs from God (which i have received signs from God personally) i never once asked God to send me a sign on a specific deadline or anything. You can’t force God for your own benefits. God gives us what He can give us, and again He also gives us a free choice in our lives. There’s a fine line between being reasonable and being too radical. I learned a valuable lesson from all this bullshit from guys and im still healing from this. Honestly i don’t know if i’ll ever want to date again since its alot harder for me to give a new person a chance if the opportunity ever presented itself again
A few weeks ago he apologized but i never responded and i’ve kept ignoring him and kept my distance from him at bible studies. I haven’t gone back to my church for a month now because of this situation that made it uncomfortable for me to want to go back to my church.
My ex friend that introduced me to him was rude to me and said some harsh things that didn’t even make sense even after the fact she did me dirty and i even tried making amends in the relationship and put her in her place after receiving that shady rude message of hers. Definitely a lesson learned
My “ex” was definitely immature and not committed after seeing the red flags and all the things he did to me. Even my friends asked if my ex friend was in love with him because she dropped me as a friend even when he did shit to me and ruined our friendship. I’ve been honest all the way in every situation

Here's an example.... A friend has a new baby and the baby isn't as cute as most babies are so do we lie and tell them how beautiful their baby is or do we say something lime " he sure has a nice name'. And what a head of hair he has!!! Or when was he born etc. Avoiding doing or saying the inevitable. And sometimes we just say nothing..me I would sing to the kid so not to have to say anything.

Mary Ann Garcia: If you are competing against others for a job promotion, definitely you need to be viewed positively by your superiors, and how you are perceived by your peers (via peer reviews) may play into it as well, especially if it's a supervisor position at stake. A person's respect is earned, the key to being a successful leader. Feeling you don't care what others think of you may result in many closed doors in the journey of life, and loneliness, as we are social beings. I see your point though in the context of sucking up to the "in crowd". If something doesn't feel right and natural to you, it probably isn't.

You can be honest. But some times. You have to say it in a different approach than just to say what you think being blunt. As It mostly depends on what the answer to what ever is. As most people don't give a answer if they think it will be used against them. Or the I don't know is a around about way to say I can't afford to tell you. Or when a yes or no is up for question. Then you may here. Can I get back with you later on that.

Calm liars exist,, true that.🙃But in conjunction with the other characteristics, maybe. Honesty is an aspect in the sense that the extrovert maybe demonstrative rather than calm or the introvert anxious...so yes, this is the weakness link. But the energy around the words are calm. There is that "ring of truth," as my Granny said; it is calm and maybe it goes unnoticed. Good point.

Dishonest people may win the battle but eventually end up losing the war. However, its exactly the opposite with honest people, ie, they may lose the battle but will definitely win the war.

I’m 60+ as well. I have definitely suffered from being honest. Although my honesty about myself when asked has cost me more. The thing I like most is the peace of mind that comes with not having to remember lies. If others prefer to live and get by with lying, that’s their choice. I don’t like it, but just as they have to live with my honesty, I have to live with others dishonesty. It definitely leads to a more solitary experience, although, those who are my friends will always be my friends.

This video validated me to the core. The most difficult aspect of my life has been to understand and accept that the majority of people lie. I’ve never understood it. I am compulsive in my honesty. I’ve learned to be tactful and learned when to walk away instead of truth-telling. I was born into a family with dark secrets. I began to ask questions , trying to make sense of the gaping holes in the “truths” others were pushing on me vs my perception of reality. I was fed a pack of lies and told I must accept the lies as truth and spew them or be quiet. I’ve was called a big mouth and a tattletale and my safety was verbally and physically threatened. I learned to be quiet because I could not bring myself to lie, even as a kid. I’ve been silenced over and over by caregivers, lovers and authority figures to the point of cognitive dissonance and threatening mental illness. The past 3 years have been mind blowing as I’ve come out of the denial of the reality that most people, especially those whom I thought loved me, are liars. The truly honest are the ones that are frequently labeled “crazy”, “hysterical “, “insane”.

This is so on the money. I consider myself a highly honest person. I feel honesty is key in all relationships. Sadly, I'm avoiding those who don't value my honesty. I have to go with my gut. I can't skirt around issues; it's spiritually painful. If I can't talk to people and say what is on my mind without them flipping out or saying dramatic things like, "Why are you doing this to me?" when I'm only responding to something negative that was said and done to me, I'd rather not be friends. Honesty is beautiful and valuable. If you can't be honest with friends, who can you be honest with? Life isn't about walking on eggshells or silencing yourself to appease other people.

When you finally get them talking, it's realized they're not REALLY mad at you for stating a KNOWN truth, but at themselves for wasting their life. No, when it gets to the point where all the good I've done gets trashed, I get very... Passionate about it. No one can twist the truth with me. No one can lie to me. I am painfully careful of my words. And if I do misspeak, I apologize as soon as possible afterwards. Without being asked. Generally, people only want to hear validations... Not truth.

I don't consider myself an honest person but people around me always say I'm so honest. I can't lie because they say they can immediately distinguish through my expressions and speech. They even told me before when I say something that might sound impossible to happen and I look sincere when saying it, they would think whether its true or I just honestly misinterpreted it. I was taken aback once there was a co worker of mine who took an unannounced day off only to join his family (parents and siblings) to have fun. Next day everyone told him I was the one approached by our superior to ask about why his absent, he said out loud "oh my god why him his so honest", everyone laughed, I just told him I said he is out due to a personal family business. The good thing about always being honest is learning to say or do things that is still honest but would not hurt/offend other people.

It is sometimes difficult to remain honest. People around you pressure you for example. Or they snap back on you because the truth hurts. So if I go through that pain to continue to be honest and then someone accuses me of something I didn't do I am suddenly very loud and aggressive. because not only do I not deserve that accusation, but I worked really hard for my status as an honest person. You want to lose me real quick? Accuse me of being dishonest. I will have no further use for you.

So pleased to see this... I'm emotionally driven, impulse , often lacking any filter im blunt with the truth. I'll just say it as I see it.
This pisses many off, their response often results in me being called a liar, told im twisting things, dismissed as too unreliable. When I'm upset or pissed off it shows in my extrene experiences of emotion.
We judge others by how we see ourselves so often project like this to divert blame when caught out in their lies

If someone is doing something that is obviously wrong, it's not your business to tell them otherwise. Someone really rude is the one who tells you that you are ugly, stupid or worthless, even if it's true. Someone honest will give you a good advice, you accept it or not, it's your choice. But telling horrible stuff to people has nothing to do with honesty.

Absolutely. You can actually tell the complete truth without having to tell everything you know. Sometimes I would think that the truth meant telling every little bit of something but I learned that isn't necessary at all. Just the simple truth will set you free and you don't always have to be brutally honest except for rare occassions. I still try to tap dance around and sweeten the pot so it doesn't sting as bad but for some you just have to hit them right between the eyes with it or they don't comprehend. Life is strange. Stranger than I 've always thought. Being single after 72 years of being with parents then hubby x2 is quite a shock to the old system. My children and grandchildren keep me on my toes tho. Thank goodness for them!!! Beautiful awesome creatures of mine!!! I look at them and cannot believe the were once residing inside me for 9 months. Such beauty brains talent and kindness along with toughness are their makeup.!!! I look at them and melt with love and disbelief!!! And I think me and their father created these magnificent people???? How can that be possible???? But it's true. We did good!!! Best 3 things I've ever done in my life. Honestly!!!

Most of my family have become hateful and rude because of my honesty. When they have asked what was wrong, I told them and most of my family had the same lies to try and hide, but my honesty brought those lies out and everyone who refused to believe the harsh truth that I shared decided to all turn against me. Now they only talk small talk with me and I could appreciate that. I do miss the way that I used to be respected for being quiet about certain subjects that I was aware would hurt people's ego, but when I was asked, I spilled the beans. After they have been liars for so long, it was shattering when I dropped the truth on them. 37 years of hard work covering up the truth went down the drain. Hopefully they will never ask me what my problems are again. I would prefer not to share them anyway. Thanks for this video, it has given me a better perspective on why certain people have extra loud opinions. LOL! Much love and blessings to all that read this. If you're not going to be honest then don't share your lies with an honest person, because they will get blamed for your lie, especially by you.
