You had to live finally that experience and I’m happy you enjoyed it. Jethro Tull is a legendary band. Saw them just once in 1984 but I have listened to them all my life.

From his 60’s beginnings, Ian has been a consummate musician, composer & fun loving performer. Even after 50yrs, he’s still driven by his pure passion/love of music. Although the band has changed members, their performance is spot-on, even at a more leisurely pace. The guitarist truly rips excellently. Few musicians ever reach his level of accomplishments🏆😎.
I quite enjoyed that. The band sounded good as was Ian's flute playing (always a delight). Shame about the vocals but an interesting arrangement of Aqualung. I wonder when Ian wrote it, he ever thought he would still be playing it over 50 years later?
I think He is the Great composer, poet, flutist&instrumentalist, He is Genius of Progressive (Art) Rock. And he may do all that he wants with his great songs, it's very interesting for me.
Wow, Ian is really something. Saw them back in 1983, but never would have thought then that Tull would still be doing this nearly 40 years later. Great to see Anderson, a living legend perform like that today.
they never will because the folks in the hall apparently hate Ian. they are deserving, but his arrogance has turned some people off over the years. Tull has been my favorite band for 5 decades, but even I find Ian a little off-putting. Too bad - they deserved to be first-ballot inductees. Martin sure deserves to be in there.
Actually Ian Anderson doesnt really care of the Hall of Fame, thinking he doesnt need to be there... He said in an interview that the RocknRoll Hall of Fame should be honouring Rock like real American Rock, American-inspired music. Talking about Elvis, Chuck Berry... But he knows that alot of musicians from outside of the US became musicians because of the Americana culture. So he respect the Hall of Fame. But as a British Rock Band who doesnt have the sound of American music, but a more folkloric and European sound, he things hes better out. And the boss on the board of Hall of Fame doesnt really like Jethro Tull anyway. So Ian Anderson is cool.
He’s was a genius. Over years . Over several albums. Over approximately 15 years. No one ever can take this away. But with this shit Ian Anderson shits himself on the legacy
I like the rearrangement. When a song sounds just like the album... hey I already have the album. Ian can't sing anymore but hey, he has been doing this for 55 years - cut him a break.
Never could get my friends interested in Tull back in the day. They just couldn't get past the flute. Hell, that's one of the main reasons I loved the band.
No matter how long it still sounds great, excellent Ian Anderson And all his band, his music has always been exceptional. greetings from mexico city¡¡¡¡¡¡
J'ai adoré ce morceau quand il est sorti en 1971 ! le son, les arrangements! tout était en place! c’était brute mais quelle beauté ! sur cette version il ne reste rien ! c'est audible mais on ne retrouve pas Jethro tull
I was offered tickets to see Tull at the Moseley Folk Festival. I'm actually glad I decided not to go. I saw them at Nostell Priory in 1984 and they were brilliant. This is a pale shadow of what they were.
MrHistorian123: Sad to say I have to agree with you. Ian & Tull have been my all-time faves since first hearing Aqualung in 1971. I last saw them in 2014 and after that decided it was just too painful ever going to see them again and having to listen to what Ian's voice has become ... so sad.
Unfortunately I have to agree. Seen them burn up the stage with aqualung to many times to even pretend this is a good rendition. Doesn’t do the song justice. And hate for their legend to be remembered like this. I understand getting old as I’m 63. I could have handled the vocals if the arrangement wasn’t so lame and lacking in energy.
Versione meravigliosa di Aqualung....l'originale è senza flauto e rimane un classico dei Jethro, ma questa versione è stupenda. Ian Anderson è artista eterno.....
Ian's work with the flute is still stellar, his voice, not so much. He wrote the songs and if he wants to continue to play live that's his business and right.
seen Jethro tull many times since the 70s in just about every incarnation of the band sat on stage with them when they played in Hawaii ,, even named my son Ian ,, played gigs with Glenn Cornick more then once ,, but this to me almost felt and sounded like a rehearsal ,, a bit sad really
Yes. Time to hang up his flute. I’ve also seen him live three times. And the last time was like. Mmmmm sorry. It’s over. But hey. I loved all the years you gave me beautiful music !!!!!
It's interesting to the differences between Ian Anderson's group and Martin Barre's. It's like two sides of the same coin. Anderson is somewhat forced to have a far more folk based sound due to his voice depreciation. Whereas Barre's band leaned into the hard rock sound because they don't have a flautist. I prefer watching Barre perform but I'm glad that Ian still has the drive to get out and do shows.
@@MyVeryHappyDay Agreed. I see so many people praising Barre's vocalist, but I just don't see or hear it ... he's a far cry from Ian. I'd actually prefer Ryan O'Donnell, the dude who played Ian's young alter-ego on the 2012 Brick2 tour.
@@ijustgottasay1281 - Right. And I am not even comparing him to Ian of yesterday or today. Martin needs a better vocalist. Those women he uses on occasion are wonderful! I am hoping that Joe gets more vocal chances in the future. He is good!
he has the integrity not to lip sink or use autotune like so many younger peformers. youve got to respect that, and yes, he's still hitting the notes as someone in these comments mentioned. Too many bands give us prerecorded crap on stage. I'll always prefer the real deal.
Everything is smaller and thinner without Martin! I remember Ian saying in an interview many decades ago that in 40 years if he wasn't filling venues anymore he would be playing to the question outside because he was at his core...a MUSICIAN ,I thought it hyperbole at the time, Be darned if he wasn't speaking the truth.
For a good laugh (or cry), check out the people who ARE in the HOF. Such a cruel joke that Tull isn't, but we know the story. Having said that, I'm lucky to remember the early years. To me, Jethro Tull died by the early 80s. Now it's just Ian and his latest hired guns. 70s Tull is in my top three bands of all time.
You only live once, play it to the fullest. There is no way this video can capture the true performance of this great song. So, why all the shallow, harsh criticism! The dynamics are not there because of the audio. It is great to watch these fine musicians play this music.
Ian plays stellar flute, but he has to make the right decision and recruit a proper singer, it would make the whole thing much more enjoyable for the paying audience and may even generate new fans. As now, it's only for the nostalgic elderly.
He did shows with a singer some time ago. You know he survived thrombosis years ago and that he has lungs issues which probably hamper his singing. He is still this great flutist and acoustic guitar player., but no longer the great original singer he used to be with his unique variations. Sad that when he dissolved Tull he split with the great Martin Barre, who ironically is touring currently with his band for the ´ 50 years Aqualung anniversary ‘ … Martin is such a great guitarist and person.
Saw them for the first time in 1977, and I still give everything from This Was to Dot Com a spin, but I've not the time of day for anything he's done since. I track bounced through that Zealot Gene thing. Nothing JT about it any way at all. It's not just the totally disintegrated vocals; it's also the over pronunciation of every word in the lyrics. It's got to the point where it sounds like Prince Charles trying to sing. For me, Jethro Tull ended at Dot Com. He's still a top musician, but that's not enough. Putting such a name as Jethro Tull on that album was a great legacy killer.
I not agree Dan, I think the opposite (with all respect). I fell happy and enjoy to see at this great musician who obviously is not a teenager, but as we said in México, he´s like the good wines and keep the essence of his talent. I really like listen a man that who is still making that he enjoy to make in his life until the heart keeps beating.

Audio is fantastic. Is this in Lugano? Come to the US, come back Ian, last time I saw you was in Santa Rosa for the Jethro Tull musical. But I want to see you again in "rock" Bless you mate.
Ian lost his voice decades ago- it has been painful watching him try to sing for a long time. ( it just keeps getting worse) Tull always one of my favourite bands especially in the 70’s. His two greatest mistakes- firing the best lineup JT ever had- Barre, Barlow, Palmer, Evans, poor Glascock died. This was the band that produced SFTW, HH, and Stormwatch. Second mistake- trying to keep singing- he can still write and play the flute but the attempt at singing should stop.
100% correct. When the voice no longer works there is no point in attempting to sing. Very poor rendition of this great song. Tull were my favourite band mid 70’s but this incarnation sounds stale with no life to it. Wish I hadn’t heard it….wish I could un-hear it.
He used a minstrel singer in the Homo Eraticus concert that sounded great. Ian limited his singing a bit and that concert was great. Still 100% on flute. Rearranging a song to fit the voice isn’t a great idea. This rendition of Tull sounds watered down. But every bit entertaining.
The entire Aqualung album is a timeless classic. Ian has always led his band of musical merry-men to new heights of brilliance. May Jethro Tull continue for years to come.

Wow, Ian is really something. Saw them back in 1983, but never would have thought then that Tull would still be doing this nearly 40 years later. Great to see Anderson, a living legend perform like that today.
saw Tull and Ian in 77, it was an event
One of the greatest bands of all time.... still not in HoF😥
they never will because the folks in the hall apparently hate Ian. they are deserving, but his arrogance has turned some people off over the years.
Gunner Blaskey, they want to put justin bieber, lady gaga and billie eilish in the HOF first though.
Used to annoy me too. The more the HoF adds terrible bands the less important Tull being in the HoF is. Now I don't care at all.
they should be
Velvet voice still gives me chills…. Nobody owns the flute better
He sounds horrible!!!
Instead of going on the Jethro Tull sobriquet, perhaps Ian should call it the Ian Anderson Project to keep the critics at bay..
He’s was a genius. Over years . Over several albums. Over approximately 15 years.
No one ever can take this away.
But with this shit Ian Anderson shits himself on the legacy
Amazing timeless classic.
They are a great concert act, I saw them plenty of times.
In an interview I heard the story behind the flute, it was too cool
This will be around for many generations
Excellent rendition of Aqualung..Been a fan of Ian since 71 and have seen many of his concerts with Jethro Tull and his band
That man was about 75 at the date of this concert! More power to the wonderful, creative Ian Anderson.
Cool arrangement! I know Ian’s voice is shot, but it still rocks! 🤘🤘
Incredible flute playing.
I still saw till the end...🇮🇹
Ian my respect
Ian stands on two legs now when playing the flute?
Love the jamming. Go for it! 21st century Tull! Their use of the middle part of Aqualung to bookend the solos is great.
Having seen the Aqualung, TAAB, Passion Play, Songs and Heavy Horses tours this is sad.
Legend still has it
You've got it still, Ian.
The magic is there.🎉😂
Einer der unsterblichen Songs von Jethro Tull
You.are right, but he's almost 80 yo and still amazing. It is a privilege to have him play his amazing music.
Great band, timeless songs
As social commentary, this has been and is right on . Hits the nail squarely.
He's great, but needs a younger singer doing the vocals
seen Jethro tull many times since the 70s in just about every incarnation of the band sat on stage with them when they played in Hawaii ,, even named my son Ian ,, played gigs with Glenn Cornick more then once ,, but this to me almost felt and sounded like a rehearsal ,, a bit sad really
Seen him on stage in FLA, long time ago....still sound good !
Шикардос!!!супер фолк!!!респект!!!и по новому обигранно!!!зачёт!!!😘😍😍😍
Ian remains the best composer, arranger and producer ever and his band comprises top class instrumentalists, Martin is world's greatest guitarist
its magic will remain forever
Ian Anderson, de los mejores músicos e intérpretes del Rock progresivo.
Saludos!!!
Amazing!!!
It was a new day yesterday, but it's an old day now......
Yes. Time to hang up his flute. I’ve also seen him live three times. And the last time was like. Mmmmm sorry. It’s over. But hey. I loved all the years you gave me beautiful music !!!!!
Going to see Martin Barre’s band on Thursday July 21 with Clive Bunker..
Nor does Barre have a good singer. Very mediocre and zero stage presence.
He is good!
The '90's band played this *so* much better.
Legendary band.
Is there any footage of JT with Mick Abrahams?
he has the integrity not to lip sink or use autotune like so many younger peformers. youve got to respect that, and yes, he's still hitting the notes as someone in these comments mentioned.
Seems like he has the desire to sing those notes but his voice has abandoned him.
True
IM A BIG FAN OF PRAGMATIC GENII.
Yet bro can still blow hard
Grace Slick said it best, “all rock and rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire,…” ALL OF THEM!!!
I thought his approach for the TAB2 tour was wise.
I can just listen to the instrumental. Great flutist.
Grandioso grupo jethro tull
Som poderoso de uma banda legendária! Baixo mandando ver !para sempre presente!
Шоу потускнело. Все же возраст бере свое, но рад что они выступают как есть.
Ian Anderson, please never die.
His voice is completely gone. Kind of normal after what he did for all those fantastic years!
They say wine gets better with age Jethro Tull is that bottle of wine🤪🌹🎼🎼😉🤘🏽
Good old Ian should consider recruiting his former assistant to take over the high notes...would be a clever investment
What was that guys name agan? He was amazing!
@@billrootes-composersongwri5552 It was Ryan O’Donnell.
Wow Ian as beautiful as ever S.A., Tx. Loves him too...♥️🎼♥️🎼♥️🎼🤠🏜🥑🚲🎣i was listening to my Heavy Horses album last night as the yankees kicked the red sox arses last night 14-1 i think rightjuly 16, 2022, the album sounded better than ever,,,🎼🎼🎼
V mých 17ti jsem toto album poslouchal každý den. Bylo to zjevení. Jako narkoman jsem však potřeboval další dávky, takže pak následoval Minstrel in the Gallery, War Child This Was atd..
Audio is fantastic. Is this in Lugano? Come to the US, come back Ian, last time I saw you was in Santa Rosa for the Jethro Tull musical. But I want to see you again in "rock" Bless you mate.
Good to them having fun with it.
When does Aqualung start? Ouch.
Yes that was painful.
I started laughing but felt shame, figured this guy's gotta eat too.
@@elliotthalsey2810 So true.
Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more...I'm glad I saw him in the early '70's (The Passion Play, War Child/Minstrel and Songs From The Woods tours)
absolutely agree. legacy, it takes a second to fuck it up and his second was 20 years ago. SAD
Performing outside, plays hell on the acoustics.
Magnifico
