Hi Shoba! I'm so sorry that you're suffering with this pain. One thing you might try when sleeping on your side is placing a pillow between your knees. You could also try laying on your back and placing a pillow under the knees. Both these positions help support the low back and can help relieve sciatic pain. Also, if you're already stretching, you might find it helpful to add some dynamic movement such a walking or yoga that incorporates more movement and core strengthening to help strengthen and support your low back. I’ve had both knees replaced over the course of 8 months. My orthopedic doctor has told me to refrain from getting on my knees right now. I’ve been trying the exercises while lying on my hard bed. Hi mom9210! I'm so sorry that you're suffering with this pain. I would be happy to create a chair yoga practice for low back and sciatica pain. I plan to release it on UA-cam next Monday, June 13. Until then try doing whatever stretches you can in your bed. Just make sure that you're gentle with the stretches and limit the range of motion so that the movements feel good in your body, not painful. I hope this helps!

Because it works and I feel so much better! I've been using them for 3 weeks every single day at least once a day a full video and then a few times throughout the day just various exercises when I have a flare up.....I am happy to say my sciatica pain is almost gone!! Hi David! To be honest after arriving upon your video I didn't think that any of these exercises were going to make any difference with my sciatica lower back pain. I will admit I was WRONG. I was able to do the entire video and it helped tremendously with my sciatica. I ended up doing several more sets from these exercises and today the pain has drastically improved by 50%!!!! I ended up last week setting up a chiropractic appointment and now I am debating to go. Thank you soooooo much for taking the time to make this video. These exercises I learned has improved so much my quality of life. This channel is a gem! I just subscribed and liked this video and I cannot wait to do more of your exercises! Many blessings :)

Because there are so many different variables and levels of severity with spinal disc issues I can't speak to your diagnosis specifically. and it's always best to work with a medical professional to understand your specific diagnosis and what exercises are most beneficial. That said, these are some of the stretches and exercises that have helped me and many of my students with mild disc issues due to chronic stress. If you do choose to try and of these exercises and stretches, please go slow, be very gentle and never do any stretch or exercise that causes pain. I hope this helps my friend! Namaste 🙏

Great practice. Just what I needed after a too-long drive in construction traffic tweaked my low back. The level of detailed instruction is just perfect. Not so much that the video is too talky, but enough that I can get maximum benefit from these poses. Thank you!

Hi Cathy! From my own experience with sciatica (I suffered with it for years when I worked a desk job) these stretching practices are extremely helpful, but they need to be coupled with a strengthening practice for your core, hips and butt in order to be rid of sciatica for good. Otherwise we get temporary relief from stretching, but weakness in the core, hips and glutes is unable to support the spine, and the pain eventually returns. My recommendation is to work up to a daily yoga practice, where each practice contains some whole body strengthening and stretching, and then you work in some of these special sciatica/low back practices 2-3 times per week. I've got tons of good general yoga practices on my UA-cam channel, and even more on my app to help you (www.davidoyoga.com) A daily practice is a general recommendation though. The most important thing is that you always listen to your body and give yourself breaks whenever you need. I hope this helps!

Thank you David. I found you yesterday and did half the exercises. I had the best sleep I've had in weeks last night. I didn't realize how much the pain was interfering with my sleep since it's been on and off. I did the whole video today. Thank you, again! I also have more energy today.

For further help I would recommend continue doing some or all of these stretches a few times a week, and then also doing some of my flow practices a couple times a week to strengthen your core and help support your spine and sciatic nerve. Both stretching and strengthening are important for long term pain relief. I hope this helps! 🙏

Hi Val! I'm glad the direction and cues helped you. The most important thing is to always go slow, and listen to your body. Stretches and exercises that are therapeutic and helpful will feel intuitively good in your body - maybe a little pulling/stretching sensation and warmth, but intuitively good. Sharp pain or tingling on the other hand is an indication to stop, or at the very least limit your range of motion and be more gentle. I hope this helps!
Hi My mane on Tania. I have sciatica at present. Thank you for your exercises they give me a good drench and and release that sharp pain.. can't stay to long as you do just a coue minutes not 5. One o can do as it hurts to much is the one when you raise the stomach to the cilien hurts to much. Othe can. Thank you David.

I'm so glad this helped! I know that everything tends to hurt when you're in the midst of sciatic pain, but keep listening to your body and try and be as gentle as possible in these stretches. It's much better to just stretch a little, consistently over time, than to push it too far all at once. That said, you know your body and can sense what's appropriate. Keep listening to that inner voice. I'm so grateful this helped you 🙏
Nice, David! I injured my sciatic nerve several years ago and was prescribed a lot of these exercises to do. I did them for months before I found any relief. It was injured that badly. Once in a while I'll start to feel a little twinge and I"ll do some yoga specifically for this issue and it makes me feel so much better. I didn't really need to this specifically this morning, but I wanted to and I'm glad I did. One of the poses made a tight spot in my back pop and man was I happy about that! My first thought when we started out on the floor was, "wonder if we'll do boat pose? Well no, that sure WON'T help any sciatica issues". I look forward to our next class when you decide to incorporate my new love to hate pose =)

Hi Rukhsana! Because there are so many different variables and levels of severity with spinal disc issues I can't speak to your diagnosis specifically. and it's always best to work with a medical professional to understand your specific diagnosis and what exercises are most beneficial. That said, these are some of the stretches and exercises that have helped me and many of my students with mild disc issues due to chronic stress. If you do choose to try and of these exercises and stretches, please go slow, be very gentle and never do any stretch or exercise that causes pain. I hope this helps my friend! Namaste 🙏

Hi Cathy! From my own experience with sciatica (I suffered with it for years when I worked a desk job) these stretching practices are extremely helpful, but they need to be coupled with a strengthening practice for your core, hips and butt in order to be rid of sciatica for good. Otherwise we get temporary relief from stretching, but weakness in the core, hips and glutes is unable to support the spine, and the pain eventually returns. My recommendation is to work up to a daily yoga practice, where each practice contains some whole body strengthening and stretching, and then you work in some of these special sciatica/low back practices 2-3 times per week. I've got tons of good general yoga practices on my UA-cam channel, and even more on my app to help you (www.davidoyoga.com) A daily practice is a general recommendation though. The most important thing is that you always listen to your body and give yourself breaks whenever you need. I hope this helps!

For further help I would recommend continue doing some or all of these stretches a few times a week, and then also doing some of my flow practices a couple times a week to strengthen your core and help support your spine and sciatic nerve. Hi Val! I'm glad the direction and cues helped you. The most important thing is to always go slow, and listen to your body. Stretches and exercises that are therapeutic and helpful will feel intuitively good in your body - maybe a little pulling/stretching sensation and warmth, but intuitively good. Sharp pain or tingling on the other hand is an indication to stop, or at the very least limit your range of motion and be more gentle. I hope this helps!

Hi My mane on Tania. I have sciatica at present. Thank you for your exercises they give me a good drench and and release that sharp pain.. can't stay to long as you do just a coue minutes not 5. One o can do as it hurts to much is the one when you raise the stomach to the cilien hurts to much. Othe can. Thank you David.

I'm so glad this helped! I know that everything tends to hurt when you're in the midst of sciatic pain, but keep listening to your body and try and be as gentle as possible in these stretches. It's much better to just stretch a little, consistently over time, than to push it too far all at once. That said, you know your body and can sense what's appropriate. Nice, David! I injured my sciatic nerve several years ago and was prescribed a lot of these exercises to do. I did them for months before I found any relief. It was injured that badly. Once in a while I'll start to feel a little twinge and I"ll do some yoga specifically for this issue and it makes me feel so much better. I didn't really need to this specifically this morning, but I wanted to and I'm glad I did. One of the poses made a tight spot in my back pop and man was I happy about that! My first thought when we started out on the floor was, "wonder if we'll do boat pose? Well no, that sure WON'T help any sciatica issues". I look forward to our next class when you decide to incorporate my new love to hate pose =)
