      Yep he got like half a fillet its easier just to gut it cut beside the gill and take both whole sides remove the ribs cut at the tail through the spine and leave the 2 fillets connected at the tail. Works great for smoking on hanger racks or frying

    Catfish have a big belly filet, it is easier to cut than the others, is just as delicious if not more, and is almost the size of a third filet. Definitely worth taking 😁

      He should've been more specific, but I think this is bluegill catfish, which are native to much of America, but invasive to the Chesapeake Bay area, which based on the location of his shop (New York), is probably where it was fished up.

      They are invasive but can be controlled. In our country, if you have a fish pond or a shrimp/crab cage and you see some catfish swimming below, expect your harvest cut in half

    That's not garbage. The belly meat is a great piece of meat. Everyone I know down in the south takes the belly meat. Many just toss the guts, they smoke the rest of the meat on the bones and scrape it off to make dip..

    Always bury your fish parts if its more than 1 day to garbage day.
    I tossed some catfish in the dumpster the day the garbage got picked up.
    It was in there for 8 days.
    The whole neighborhood was washing out their dumpsters thonking ot was theirs.

    You’re missing the belly meat . It has a liner you trim and there is no guts on the meat and no bad taste. There is also head meat on bigger ones.
