Correct, shellfish are cold blooded. But any food has a weird way of processing it. Beef gets a spike through the skull, chickens get a gun, but they are designed for minimal pain for the animal
Fun fact, shellfish was once considered food for the extremely poor. There was actually a cookbook with a recipe 'for prisoners only', and it was basically lobster nuggets and dipping sauce
This is because before the trains and refregerating was invented, lobsters and other shellfish would just die and go baf before reaching further inland, thus reserving it basically to the coastal people

Its always so insane to me how easy to take apart shellfish are. Like, they have shells specifically for protection, but this man is taking apart crabs like they're a Lego set
With crabs and related things like lobsters, they can choose to detach legs and such anyway as a defence, similar to lizards and their tails, so it makes sense that they are easy to pull apart. You shouldn't find it insane, it's not exactly a secret that they can do this.

I think it’s kinda weird how all of these intricate steps to cooking this seafood came from somebody looking at a crab and going, “damn ngl that looks kinda tasty”
Omg this is hilarious, we’re like animals literally telling each other these cool tricks we found to help us get to food better. Like we’re just excited to share knowledge as a species and that’s so cute.
Every time I’m having trouble sleeping, I pull up this video. Something about his voice is so soothing and knocks me out. I also watch the “mixing every cocktail” vid when even this vid can’t get me to sleep.
Well they are edible technically, some just prefer not to eat them. It’s like a cow, some people like steak and beef but prefer not eat tripe which is made from the stomach lining of the cow. It’s about appeal and preference.
I have seen this video so many times. When we went to Florida a couple years ago I ordered a Dungeness crab at a seafood place. It came to me whole after being cooked and the wait staff was so impressed at how I could get everything out of it without using any tools. The only thing I needed a tool for was to crack the big claw. Eveything else I cleaned out by hand. Most delicious meal ever! Thanks to this video I even showed a couple others how to really take apart the crab to get the best experience. It was fun.
Shellfish: spend millions of years developing and perfecting strong, sturdy shells to protect their vulnerable bodies. Mike: Spends 40 minutes dismantling them and breaking their shells open like a nut.
You're assuming that their shells were being perfected, nothing in nature is perfect. The only thing that matters in the evolutionary process is whether or not you had kids, everything else, and I mean _everything else,_ is just to keep you alive long enough to make them. Imagine standing infront of the lobster and seeing it die like that. That is not humane. That was psychotic murder

Watching anyone with a passion info dump on their passion is so relaxing and interesting to me, especially if that passion is something I never would have learned about on my own.
I think it’s kinda weird how all of these intricate steps to cooking this seafood came from somebody looking at a crab and going, “damn ngl that looks kinda tasty”

Kani or crab miso uses the innards of the crab. And some folks eat it with rice lol.
Mike Leslie times get desperate
It was fun.

🤨... 😳 Oh jeez big OOF
Yeah but he'd be so less iconic if he was green-ish grey
The same for Larry the Lobster
No mr.krabs Is a different species of crab
Possibly it could be, but there’s some species of live crab that are red and just get more red when cooked.
Shellfish: spend millions of years developing and perfecting strong, sturdy shells to protect their vulnerable bodies.
Mike: Spends 40 minutes dismantling them and breaking their shells open like a nut.
Guess evolution didn't account for weird hairless apes with pointy metal sticks.
Never underestimate the persistence of humans.
You're assuming that their shells were being perfected, nothing in nature is perfect. The only thing that matters in the evolutionary process is whether or not you had kids, everything else, and I mean _everything else,_ is just to keep you alive long enough to make them.
It was never survival of the fittest, it was survival of the passing grade.
