  • In today’s episode of DIY Willy, I install a new 6.6 Hp 224cc Max Performance Predator engine in the Mega Moto minibike. There was nothing wrong with the original Gasbike 79cc version but it always a good time to try something else….Right? This engine claims to have 10% more torque and just a hint of additional HP over the 212 version. So let’s find out how much the 10% improves the performance in the Mega Moto frame. I intend to leave the engine all stock as it came out of the box for now but who knows what the future might hold for it only time will tell. Also I try a centrifugal clutch for the first time on this build and I can definitely see the differences between the torque converter and the centrifugal clutches when riding.
    So please come back and check out the progress on this fun Mega Moto minibike build.

      Thanks yes I’m getting close. I will share what I find. Just wish I didn’t need to look. Not worried to much all the parts are replaceable. I believe I need to shim the crank at the side cover. There appears to excessive end play. That might tighten it up some.

    so i have a 2016 mm80 and im looking into getting a 224 for it. is it 100% that a 224 will fit in that frame? i want to order a 224 but dont want to have to relocate the tank. help

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  8 місяців тому +1

      Hello broombroom, yes it will go but it’s tight. You will need to bring some from the front oil drain plug and drill new mounting holes for the engine. The MM80 holes are different. As you saw in my video it is possible. By grinding the front oil drain bolt it will allow you to move the engine as far forward as possible. Hope this helps… Let me know how it turns out. You will definitely like the difference in power. Be safe!! Thanks for watching!!!

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  3 місяці тому +1

      Hello Eric, Some people have found that the flywheel is not torqued properly and can be a cause of the vibrations. I feel though that it’s caused by the stroke this engine has. I welded 3ea 1”x1/8” flat bar under the engine plate to help stiffen the frame. It definitely helped tame the beast. I have a video showing how I did it. You should check it out. Thanks for watching!!

      It’s all good now I’ve had the whole engine apart and back together now a couple times with the proper torque specs. Thanks for watching!

      What did you find to be the problem with your 224 ? Thanks

      There really wasn’t anything that stood out as “That’s the problem”. I think the biggest issue was crank shaft end plan which I fixed with shims at the side cover. I didn’t measure it but install 1 thick one and 1 thin one and that seemed to get it close enough for me. I believe that the extra stroke on the crank shaft contributes to the vibration at mid range power. The vibration goes away as the rpm’s increase. I would love to get the whole rotating assembly balanced. There some diy videos out there and also some professional companies to do it but I’m fine with it.
      Great comment!! Thanks again for watching!!! 👍

    I wish I knew how to install this to my mini moto 80cc

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  Рік тому +1

      Hello Zoidlife357, it’s really not hard. There are a couple options to install the engine. You can buy an angled plate from GPS or what I did with this bike is measure out the mounting holes and drill them. Either way is super easy just take your time. Most engine adapter’s for torque converters will help install an engine in the MM80 frame. Thanks for watching

      I have other videos showing the install of a 212 on my other mm80 bike. Take a look at those to get some more explanation of the process.

      Sounds like a problem with the throttle cable not the carburetor. Disconnect the cable and try it again.
