Well I have to be honest and cleaning the fuel system wasn’t totally my idea. Giles from Diesel Performance Injection suggested it. I sent my pump and after taking it apart he found the pump not only rusty but full of oily goo. I knew I needed to go deeper into the system. Glad I did the tank had about 1/4” of that goo in the bottom of it. Not sure where that came from. Besides diesel the only thing I put in the tank was Diesel clean and maybe Marvel Mystery oil. Both are not very thick and should mix well with diesel. So it’s all clean now thanks to super clean and my pressure washer. Picked up new hoses through the system and cleaned the hard lines best as possible. Crossing my fingers the Samurai runs better and I’m able to drive it again. Giles said he turned the pump up some so we’ll have to see. Also has low compression in 2 and 4 cylinders. Will need a bottom end rebuild eventually. I need to clean that radiator up and straighten the fins a bit but it has been great at cooling the VW Diesel. Thanks for checking it out and cross your fingers that alls good…

Hey Lou-eye, it is a big job but I’ve done it before a couple times. Hopefully this pump is better than the last. Giles from Performance Diesel Injector said that my pump was full of rust and oily goo. So a replacement core pump was required adding to the already pricey rebuild. Oh well… so I’ve got the tank cleaned like new and I’ll be replacing all the rubber hoses. I also cleaned the fuel filter housing so should be golden. Now the hard part is putting the pump back in and timing it correctly. The tank should be easy to put back. Thanks for watching!!!

Hello Dave, Yes a Hemi head with a dished piston. I just wanted a Hemi engine. You know how builds aren’t always finished… That’s this build. I have a flat top piston to go in along with another cam. Can’t always do it all at once. What would be left for tomorrow? But honestly the engine ran fantastic this way getting the bike to 53mph. I plan on doing another refresh on the 224. Hey Lou-eye, Yes I did want to change the VVT sprockets but my local dealer didn’t have them at the time. I needed to get the truck back together. The long tube was put back in with some long needle nose pliers. Really not that hard. I didn’t show that?? Hmmm.. My apologies! Thanks for checking it out!!

@@DIYWilly most likely will be me when time comes, dont trust dealer ship ( been cheated by them before)and would cost too much for labor, if I were younger (67) it would be easier for me to do, so I'm gathering as much info as I can right now, looking at prices on "Rock auto" a "Cloyes brand" kit.

I can say it’s an easy job to do if you have mechanical knowledge. It’s just time consuming and I only had a few hours a day to work so it took me a long time to finish. Also saving the cost of labor allowed me to to some preventative maintenance with water pump and various hoses. Oh and I some damaged the radiator so I replaced that too.. I’ve heard Cloyes makes good stuff… Good luck with the repair when you decide to do it.

Hello Lou-eye, Happy Holidays! When I bought this engine last year the seller said it ran but needed a carb. So I took a chance and bought it. I’m glad that it did run and ran very well. Now just need to put it on one of the bikes and take it for a ride. The engine did vibrate a lot and the plastic table tried to walk away..😂 Thanks for watching!!

I relocated the seat all the way back. I cut the seat mounts and reweld them back.
