  • Toyota MR2 V6 Swap Part one.
    In this video Me and Chris pull the 1MZ-FE 3.0 V6 Engine from the 1997 Toyota Camry i bought cheap..ish. This engine once its been serviced with new belts, gaskets and a few electrical wiring bits and pieces and a new engine mount will drop straight into Dave my 1991 Toyota MK2 MR2 SW20.
    Reason im swapping for the V6 is for Cost reasons, A turbo is much more expensive and its something I can warrant paying out on, Same with a K20 Swap, Just too costly. There is a 2GR Engine that can be fitted with some extra work, but again that's rather costly. This 1MZ engine is a great increase in power over my stock Rev 1 Sub 150 BHP Engine, boosting it up to around 200 BHP and 200 FTLB. Hopefully will transform my humble MR2.
    All of the MR2 Engine Swap videos will be supported by Paul Woods, from Woodsport. He is well known in the engine swapping world, and knows these V6 swaps like the back of his hand.
    If you have any questions, check out his very helpful website, and check out his products and services to help you with your V6 Swap. 1MZ, 3VZ and 2GR, hes your man!
    woodsport.org/joomla/
    He stocks parts needed for the swap, and adapts things like the wiring loom by splicing the V6 Loom and your MR2 Loom together.

    This is why Toyota says to lift the car and remove the subframe and lower the engine and trans together. After you remove the things on top like they did. Without a lift you run into the problem of lack of room to move the engine and trans apart inside the engine bay.

      They probably bought the whole car for the cost of a 2gr engine lol

      2GR engine costs a hell of a lot, and does require more work to fit. I could do this 1MZ swap about 6 times for the cost of a 2GR.

    What sort of power/ torque figures can you get from this v6 swap?

      Looking to be around 210 bhp and the same in ftlbs. Big difference over the 3sge at 150bhp.

    It's so confusing. So many people just say "toyota 3 litre V6" and nothing else or say 1mv-fe with a picture of a 3mv iron block but now it looks like there's a 3rd 3 litre V6 that was used in the 90s and in the US they only used the 3mv in camry's for 3 years but here in aus they used it in Camry's for 6 years and... dude, it's confusing. Too many 3 litre V6s.

    Pulling the engine out the mr2 isnt too difficult, I did it on my own without a engine hoist admtadly it wad a very janky operstion, top tip is drop it from the bottom, ngl I wish I had filmed what I did lol

    • @bluudysgarage
      @bluudysgarage  2 роки тому

      I'd figured it has to come out the bottom. I'll figure something out to get it dropped soon.

    Lads... if the car was always meant to be scrap... why didn't you just remove the rad and just hack the front off to save a load of time and aggo.

    Why trash a perfectly good Camry? Get an engine from a crashed one instead.
