- While many of you are waiting for our Supra Supreme V12 build update, (which is coming!!!), check out something else we have been up to!
With help from some questionably qualified friends, we challenged ourselves during a 1 week holiday period to build, start to finish, a Toyota Camry to a target of more than 300% its original power output.
And then, race it on an airstrip!

This was a pretty dope project to witness lol. Of course most people are looking for more fun cars to modify but no one expects something like this!
These videos have a lot of effort put into them, you guys deserve more exposure, seriously.
The burnout in the beginning is hilarious. Looks like any other camry beater but it tears up tires.
Definitely want to see how this turns out. Love these cars

I think it's cuz they don't really exist. By the time they used the 3MZ for like 2 years (before switching to the 2GR), they were already phasing out the sticks, and once the 2GR came along, it was pretty much a nail in the coffin for it.
@@Nathan_Jay US market had the 3vz only from 92-93, 94-96 then got the 1mz. 4th gen camry had 1mz, then 5th gen was 2gr.
Aussie market got the 3vz for the whole 3rd gen, 92-96. 94 onwards apparently the ECU was retuned by toyota so the engine delivered 200 hp, up from the 185 for 92-93.
92-93 year 3vzs could have their timing advanced and air-fuel ratio set to burn leaner to gain an extra 10 hp or so. All 3vzfes benefit from 2 inch front y-pipes with a much smoother flowing bend going from the rear cylinder bank to the collector. This gives you an extra 10 hp and is probably the only exhaust mod that actually improves power, aside from removing the cat or getting a high flow cat.

When the AU came out it lost to the new 1998 camry at the production 12hour Bathurst race. The bus add was 'V8 killer'. My 2000 didn't mind Wallanga hill, its been too long time to wait for someone put a snail on one.

V6 Manual camrys are very rare. 0-60 in 7 seconds for a 98. Not fast but for the times it was really good.
I daily drive a v6 manual Camry. Love it to death, has enough power to have some fun but is a butter smooth ride.

@@IZZYTELLEZ1 I'm unsure if anyone makes conversion kits. My car was manual from the factory. There isn't much aftermarket support for these cars.

Hy guys. I also own a Ausi spec 97 vdv10r camry vienta ultima. 3vz-fe n auto. 260k km on clock. Planning on supercharging or turbocharging. I was curious how many hp it had left. Surprisingly had 195 hp. Ausi spec after 94 had 200hp. I'm surprised dat your car shows 125hp. Some version of 3vz-fe made 185, 190, 200 hp. I'm gonna enjoy this build. Love your videos.
All dynos read differently. You should never read anything close to flywheel hp numbers at the wheels, so 195hp on a dyno from a 200hp car doesn't entirely add up, especially through an auto trans. See driveline losses.

what i don't understand is that i have the same 1mz-fe in my 99 avalon and it gets 200hp stock. maybe its cause this is manual?? im not sure but id love to know

Similar but requires upgraded rods and pistons, as they're weaker.

What engine management did you guys end up using? I’m sure you know how hard it is to find 1mz performance stuff lol
The engine management requirements of the camry engines is no different from the vast majority of other popular Toyota engines like 4AGE, 2JZGTE etc.. We used a Haltech ECU but almost anything will work.
QUICKSHIFT.tv was mainly wondering if you guys found a piggyback that works or used a stand-alone. I’m sure you know how picky the stock ecu is lol

3VZFE! A lot like the 1MZ in the Avalon but iron block and tough internals, that’s why we chose this model!

Buuuuut if you guys can find an s2000 cheap. Hehehehe Just saying. I mean, it's a v12 and that's like the only reasonable thing I can think of.
Unreasonable thing. The most hated baracuda. Put a gmc in a hemi branded car. Ruin value but idk maybe not. Muscle car dudes love big engines and there's just not a hemi with enough cylinders and I'm not paying viper motor prices.
That said consider v12 supra and v12 s2000 side by side. With a exhaust mode mod for sleeper glory.

@@connoisseuroftigolbitts All had $10k drysump oiling systems- as did the Aussie Time attack S13. The Supra front crossmember is right where the Toy V12's front sump is- even without the sump pan mounted, the upper portion of the forward half upper pan wants moving. Either the motor goes up, a $10k oil system, or refab the front crossmember (which ties the lower control arms together). NO simple or cheap answers with the Supra. Have looked and there are no other bottom side parts I have found from Toyota to move that sump. Another Kiwi dropped one in a Lexus IS; like a glove! The IS engine has a deep front sump, another trans was bolted (v12 does seem to have Toy v8 bellhousing ) on- he took his family on vacation- the AC even worked? But, Yeah Buddy! Smokey's rides are great!
