A new side story mini series to accompany my AW11 MR2 project. My friend Zion has owned a mk2 MR2 (SW20), but blew his 5SFE engine from a rusty radiator. After almost a year of saving and searching, he found a 3SGE red top BEAMS engine that he plans on swapping in. So I'm here to film the process of what hopefully turns out to be a fun and successful project. This could either become a decent tutorial / guide of the swap, or a "what not to do".
For part three, the car is finally back. We do a wash up, test drive, and exhaust tone recordings.
Now that this little side series is pretty much over, I'd be open to possibly doing another one. If anyone in Western Washington has an upcoming project and is interested in having me film it, reach out on my Instagram or email (both listed in the description). Whether I film it is based on a few factors, but I'm curious what else is out there!
This whole video was a great reminder of just how great SW20s look. Badass swap and I'm stoked to see he's got it running again. Based on my impressions of my AW11 so far, I feel like these cars are better suited N/A with revvy motors over forced induction.
Very good video, congratulations on finishing the BEAMS. I started my SW20 RedTop swap in April 2021, but doing a restoration. I've been stripping the rusty hardware and replateing over the summer. I plan on continuing the swap next month.
