Welcome back to our cozy cabin series! Today is Day 3 and Day 4 of our log cabin assembly, and we've got an exciting episode for you. In this video, we unbox a mystery package with essential gear for our build and make significant progress on the cabin.
Here's what we accomplished:
Installed the beautiful T&G pine ceiling
Spray foam insulated the rafters
Sheeted the roof
Completed the Douglas fir fascia boards
Insulated the headers above the windows and doors
Started laying out the upper story and deck handrails
Join us as we take you through each step and reveal what's inside the surprise package. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on our cozy cabin project!
That chainsaw work was a thing of beauty!!
Absolutely surgical! I don't get the "fizz" that easily, but that chainsaw artistry sure did it.
Ya know. I saw a tiny house building show years ago, and their solution to the stairs was pretty creative. They made a metal staircase and hinged the top. They then used a small electric winch to run the stairs up and down so they weren't in the way when not in use. You could accomplish the same thing with a chain hoist. Just another option. Love the content!

Something to consider. Thanks.
I really appreciate you giving these guys the credit they deserve. Young men doing an amazing job running a business.
Those guys are amazing with the chainsaws... very skilled
It's literally a life-sized Lincoln Log set done with insanely good craftsmanship. And for less than half or 1/3rd the price of any home you can find on the current market. What an absolutely amazing company.
As a journeyman roofer and a man who has had a gutter company for 10 years, you are right you’re 12/12 does shed snow well. But I would never do it. They’re a pain in the ass to deal with.
💯....I never bid over 10/12 simply because loading them is as much work as installation 💀
We had an existing 50 year old structurally sound 30x40 barn on the property we bought. It was pretty much unused for its existence. Had a concrete floor poured, I put in new windows and framed the inside, then we had the entire inside spray foamed. Was the best thing we ever did. Sealed up all the pin holes in the wood siding and our small wood stove will heat the entire place in the coldest temps easily. You’ll be in shorts and a t-shirt in no time.
I Build those rigs, specifically the generators that power the machines. very simple but complex machinery.
The chainsaw work is impressive!!
Everything is coming together nicely! I can’t believe the skilled chainsaw work!
Watching this porch project reminds me of your dad Cody, when you,he and jack were fixing the porch at the old homestead. Great memories.
It’s just beautiful Cody. All of it.
12:25
13:02 beautiful view
I love when you get the mountain in your videos. I lived in that region, spoiled by up close beauty of the mountain daily, I miss it.
Holy cow, their chainsaw work, especially Jalon's, is exquisite! The chips that saw was throwing were incredible. These guys know their business.
On exterior railing sections, drain holes should be drilled through the underside of the bottom rail to drain water from the inferior rail mortises. Rainwater will drain down into them, and if water can't drain, the lower tenons of the vertical members will rot away over time.
Such talented craftsmen
Really well done, I might have not spray foamed the roof but everything else looks great 👍 make sure you oil coat the exterior with like a linseed oil.
Definitely the fizz
Maybe run the stairs sideways along the living area wall, that way you have more headspace and don't need to cut out the floor. It would also save the floorspace downstairs, just make some nice shelving or storage under the stairs
It's upstairs where the headspace is an issue. can't walk up and have it be 3 feet....We've moved the ladder to many spaces to see it visually.
@@wranglerstar That makes sense, you ain't no short king 😅
Railing looks nice and stout. Brave and confident guys to be doing carpentry with chainsaws.
A video so awesome we get to see it twice
Tech issue. oops.
In the South East spray foam can be a mess with termites. Often a roof gets damaged and water gets trapped so a giant source of moisture for termites.
Thank you wranglerstar for the great videos. I have been watching you since you put a video out in 2009 “how to climb a tree a rope”
Very nice kit. I enjoyed watching this. More memories of my childhood.
This thing is turning out beautiful
Heck of a start to the cabin. Really great system by the crew.
Awesome. I love everything about it. You must be thrilled with it. I’m happy for you.
This is awesome how they are making pretty much a SIP panel on site! My Mom's house here in NC has a 24" SIP panel roof similar to the Brady Bunch house. Between that and 2x6 and 2x8 exterior walls, this house's envelope is pretty nice for something built in 1978 but with additions, has grown to 10,500 +/- SQFT! Compare it to my 1948 mill type house, my electric bill is still more than her's and she has an inground pool and hot tub running 24/7! you are going to love that roof system and how insulated this cabin will be for and your family!
Never in my life seen window framing done like that (by eye!) with a chainsaw. These guys know their stuff 😅
When the bath/bed walls go up, I think that size is going to get more than cozy. When you put the woodburner in, I'm thinking your going to have a hot main room, and a cool/cold bath/bed. I experienced this in my home. Without the air moving, you end up with a superheated space and the rest cool/cold.
We didn't have that issue in our old log cabin. If we do we can get some type of fan. Definitely something we will keep in mind (and feel).
Hey Cody, thank you! I really appreciate your content and I can’t wait to see the finished project.
Fancy, Looking good. Alittle bigger then mine 😅
This a beautifully crafted cabin
Cody I can’t believe you still have that beautiful van we never get to see. I thought you were selling it a long time ago but I always catch a glimpse of it.
This is coming along super nice!
I can smell that wonderful, fantastic fresh wood over here in south Florida. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Loving the cabin
Easy to build a cabin quickly when there was 100’s or 1000’s of hours behind the scenes making it. This is little more than a child’s large Lincoln Log build.
I absolutely love all of the vids Cody
Great video series. Sweet cabin!
You ain't got nothin' on Pa from Little House on the Prairie. lol Seriously though, that dude doing trim work with the chainsaw had me holding my breath, impressive work with lots of confidence.
Meadowlark log homes are top notch!! they are wonderful company! if you are ever near Libby, Mt you should check out their farm to market store also. Some of the best homemade apple butter.
Looks great Cody. Love from NZ
Brother, I love this build. 💪💪💪
Great job!!
Could you imagine if Dick Prinneke had those tools for his cabin.
wow and zamzam water
Maybe an Attic ladder might be a solution, so you can tuck it away when not in use, unless the top floor is going to be used all the time, then spiral might be better
Beautiful
This cabin shows that everything don't have to be as complicated as an ikea dresser. Just like proho likes it.
Awesome! Looking for a house or land in the Northeast near my bro-in-law. Something like this is one of our ideas.
Those guys are legit
Beautiful house cody,congrats.
Prayers !!!
It looks to me that a nice big lag bolt epoxied into the bottom of each railing post would allow you to easily fasten them down through the decking with a heavy duty washer on the underside. Completely hidden from view. Could put one or two smaller screws adjacent to keep the post from being able to rotate on the center lag. Definitely more than one way to skin a cat though.
Nice quality, but I think they could have a better way of attaching the railing posts. Like a half lap that gets bolted into the porch rim joist.
Bet those guys love you and wife standing around walking over them, picking up pieces
Impressive one day build! Now do Rome
Amazing
What u should do is line the bank of the river with boulders and when it erodes the ground under them that will naturally fall in and line the bank slowing down the erosion
Sorry I just watched the video where u we’re talking about it
9:15 _All right! Let me cut the cords holding this pile here without knowing what's under the tarp! Heck, hold on, let me go barefoot, even! You see, kids, the closer your feet are to the ground the more in contact with the Earth you are-and I am about to be a heck of a lot more in contact with the Earth in just a moment... especially when I'm writhing in pain rolling on the ground right after this shot._ 👌
Wranglerstar I would look into a wall mount fold down staircase
It's the headspace when you get upstairs that's a concern.
Awesome 🫶🏼
I built my greatroom 26'×24'×16'H- my 2×12 rafters sprayed with 9+ inches of foam & 2×8 walls sprayed with 6+ inches of foam. "You can heat the room with a fart" said the inspector.
2:03 - who needs sandpaper, if you have a chainsaw. ☺
I would love to see a update offical wranglerstar edc carry
I helped build a Norwegian log cabin in Sweden using hammers, nails, saws and pencils, took about 9 of us a year.
Craftsmanship ❤
cool vid
2nd verse, same as the 1st. A re-upload from earlier. Still interesting vid.
2:10 Hah! It's easy peasy to work on these horizontal dead trees with your saw! Unlike those nasty living ones that keep trying to fall on you and kill you. You don't even need a jack bottle! 👌
Looks great. God bless. Christ is Lord. ✝️
I'm a little surprised to see a 500i doing that finishing work, the lighter 261C would be perfect for that job.
Eh, I guess I'll like the video for a 2nd time... 😅
I bet he was glad he wasn't ground when them logs fell on his foot
How to Build a Log Cabin In A Day - Day Number 3...... You quack me up Cody!! ":^) p.s. Shingles are nothing to laugh at.....
The completion date burned into the end of the ridge pole would be nice if it’s exposed.
Why not using Rock whool?
This Form will be a problem in the future
What type of bar oil do you usually use.
How do you guys feel about those laminated osb type beams compared to traditional beams? Seems like water could easily damage and greatly weaken.
That man is skilled with a chainsaw
Have you measured the EMF emitted from the overhead power lines?
Does the stair case have to be in the middle
What elevation are you I’m an East Coast man? And I want to get out of the humidity.
Dude should wear safety glasses on that chainsaw
❤
How much did it cost for them to drive from Montana to assemble it.
Ikea
Wow, a whole video of fuzzy fizz right there
Also wondered your thoughts about people joining the military these days
Stupid. Don’t do it.
Hey may answer you but I'll let you know from what I can tell he's not keen on the idea due to the current conditions and leadership of fools on deck. I'm with him on this one..... for a good cause one might do something heroic, but this is a fools game and not a good one..... not worth the adventure or bloody body count. They have a draft coming for our children soon. Patriotic yes, foolish not for the fools game.
Anyone know how much he spent on the base cabin? I only heard details about the add ons.
I believe 70,000... If you include the cost of someone else to do the foundation that they did themselves before the cabin showed up... About $100,000 if you include furnishings..
They did about an hour Livestream recently with the main guy and Mrs. W where they laid out all the details..go watch it. You'll enjoy
Stihl makes a better chainsaw than husqvarna.
Hello
Does this still qualify as building a cabin in a day
Wrangler Star, did you hear anything about them reinstating the draft? I heard they did and this time women will be drafted also.
Is this a repost?
Go with pvc fascia. Lasts forever
Yah that will loom great on a log cabin without gutters 😆 🤣
@brycehess6708 wood look. I build things that last. Paint it same color of the roof.
@@jwristen24 proper counter flashing and the fascia will never rott 👍
@brycehess6708 Steel, stone, aluminum, copper will never rot when applied properly on exterior Wood is for interior. Wood will rot over any timeline all dependent on assembly
I take it you'll coat the whole cabin in boiled linseed oil? 😅
No knee pads, lack of steel toes and no hearing protection
What happened?
I was wondering the same thing.
Technical issue.
