I love your programs, I watch several off grid programs,if I was younger I might be tempted but at 82 it is too late, I do live off grid but only on a canal boat so no where like you all do, keep the programs coming they are so brilliant.
It’s nice to watch someone build there house correctly most diy Alaska home builders on UA-cam don’t know what they’re doing you must have experience building !!! Good job !!
There are only a few UA-cam Channels worth watching, and you guys are one of them. Authentic, normal, stable, no drama...just living. Don't you ever quit. :)
im in the UK and i love the way your Mrs gets stuck in with you reminds me of my wife many years ago both of us filthy dirty after a long days work making a home for our family, your a lucky man to find a partner in this day and age who doesn't think her body is enough in a relationship she is a special young lady be proud you scored. its precious to find a woman like that in any age group.
Pple do get killed unexpectedly on their homesteads by bears. It happens. Not to many yrs ago a guy came home and his wife and kid were killed outside by a bear. It happens fast.
We actually have moose that walk through daily. They can be quite aggressive. There was someone just recently stomped to death by a moose about a month ago on the peninsula. We would rather be prepared because the come up so quietly, you might not know they are there until they are a few feet away. They aren't bothered by the noises at all.
@@northtoalaska2022yup. I have had one sneek up on my twice. One time with the generator going and me running the saw. Luckily it stayed back 20 yards and didn't bother us.
Greetings from Talkeetna. My husband stands and stares off into the woods, too❤. He's out in the backhoe pulling stumps and moving big rocks right now. We are a Milwaukee & Stihl household. If one of those companies builds it, there is a good chance we have one. The house is going to be rock solid.
It's really nice seeing your home beginning to take shape... from my comfortable recliner in a much warmer climate. 😉 I'm looking forward to seeing you continue your journey.
I agree that you buy the better tools if you are going to use them most of the time. Normally buy 1 time use tools (cheap) to get a unique job done, those tools normally take up space in my tool cabinet for a long time before I use them again or get rid of them. Good job overall on the base. Excellent video!!
greetings folks; since your fur buddy likes chewing on sticks so well, yall need to train it to pile them in one place. it would clean up the homestead in no time at all! i am thankful for yalls videos because they have a balanced amount of action and talking as well as clean language!..........g
I'm so glad to see a new video. Wish you would do one every week. I love watching y'all. As always be safe and God bless you 💖 Are you all going to have a garden this year
I would like to see a video every week, too. I absolutely love their videos, and this project is well worth watching. This couple works so well together and has done their research.
Glad you are enjoying all the videos! We get out as many as we can handle. Maybe in the future once we get all our other endeavors in order we can devote more time to videos 🙂
Wow we live in Perth Western Australia ,our temperatures get hot in summer but watching you guys having to cope with the weather there is amazing, very happy to be subscribed to a hardworking couple who are not up themselves and refreshingly just doing it there’s hope for us yet cheers
Hi Jeffrey, Our summer is almost here! You might be surprised but with warm clothing, the cool weather just becomes normal 🙂 keep cool on those hot days in Perth! And thanks for your kind words!
My grandfather he passed away but he was from the old country and I know him well enough he would have liked your bild, very sturdy, very strong, well-built, well made, thank you for sharing with us. Denmark everything they do over there is really Stout.
That house should never go nowhere. Your great grandkids will be staying in that house as strong as it’s going to be good job. Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
I’m no carpenter in any sense of the word but you showing me something today. I’ve never seen in 52 years. I didn’t even know they made a palm nailer. I guess you can learn something new every day can’t you? Tiny Houston MS ( Len Price )
You said you had to install hurricane hangers. They are more earthquake hangers. As I was writing this your wife added that the hangers for earthquake. Used a palm nailer when we built my brother's house. They work great.
It's amazing that the bear is a natural material. I really love the wooden material from your hands. It created a beautiful house. Photos. I can stay by your side and work with you. Experience the work you are doing. Wishing you good health and success.❤❤❤❤
Yes, nail guns are perfect for fast assembly but the shear strength required in some areas can not be met with nails alone. We are working to make the home last for a long period.
Good morning from Cape Cod. You two make a great team. I enjoy your videos keep them coming. Exciting times watching your build. Thank you for sharing with us. Happy spring. Take care✌️❤️❤️🇺🇸
I am utterly so impressed with the meticulous planning and execution of your support/subfloor system. If the crawl space is insulated and enclosed your cabin will be standing for decades to come. Might I suggest that after your insulation is installed in your floor system that you add a barrier if 1/4 inch builder's mesh to the bottom of your floor joists to keep vermin and other creatures from taking up residence in your floor system. ou guys make an amazing team, so impressive!
To an old builder, your project looks great. HOWEVER, I learned the hard way to pay come extra money and use Simpson tie-downs and joist hangers. I never used nails to tie something together - I used coated screws. They are a lot more expensive than nails or air-nails. But, they don't squeak on floors and the don't pull out. Your comment on Milwaukee is right-on.
I actually started using Harbor Freight's Hercules impacts. It's very comparable to my Milwaukee. For the price and the fact that I can walk into any HF store with anything wrong with it and walk out with a new one works for me.
I wish they had harbor freight here, so much good value for certain tools. I don't have any of their power tools but I have one of the mechanic's tool chests, great buy at $1100. A comparable snap-on box is $14k, huge savings! We use a lot of other good hand tools and gas powered tools that have been well worth it from them and saved a lot of money.
What an exciting time of the year here in Alaska!!! It's fun that you share your adventures with us🥰 Gardening soon, yeah? Say Maahhh to the goats for me🐐😍
Sounded like Katie said I don't know about the birds ... those are called Sandhill Cranes, they are beautiful animals and have that distinct call. Down here in Florida they're called Florida Sandhill Cranes and are a protected class. Love the progress ya'll are making.
Hi there! We love watching the Sandhill cranes. I believe the part of the video in questions was where we were trying to figure out what small birds were chasing a hawk 😁 They were snipes.
love your wife accent by the way i think its the way she buggers up my language and I'm not being offensive its funny, so impressed by her and I'm also a Milwaukie fan buy it once and do it right once
Insulated pipe tin that goes over commercial pipe insulation. Can do the whole bottom of floor and will rodent proof the underneath . Comes in 3 foot rolls and different materials to your budget ! Beautiful job and keep it up .
I just found your channel and it looks like I have some binge watching to do. I am impressed with your desire to absolutely do it right. I've seen so many times they just make it good enough. Bravo
Between all your other chores and dealing with weather, it’ll be a tall order to get the cabin dried in before the freeze. Regardless, you’re definitely doing it right. Good job.
All this quality work means whomever comes after you will still have a nice place to live. That was about the closest precise poor of expanding foam I've ever seen. Me: wondering why the floor isnt insulated. You: we did our homework and we're doing it differently. I love your videos.
It just so happened that after this video a good friend in Anchorage gave us another Milwaukee hex impact so she has one to use for the rest of the project!
Great progress. Team work is dream work. Sorry to see that you cut your finger, hopefully nothing to serious. Lots of tape makes a good fix. Thanks for sharing
