Absolutely heartbreaking. The work that will be required to try to rebuild the lives affected is staggering. My prayers go out for everyone, and we will be volunteering to help where needed.
This footage is insane. They won't even be able to rebuild roads because the road beds are gone. They'll have to resurvey everything just to re-establish property lines. I have family nearby. I'm thankful that they are okay.

These stories are all over the internet the pilots being turned away and one told he will go to jail if he rescued another person (he rescued a senior lady had to leave her husband). From WC, The difference between the big cities and the people here in NE TN, in the big cities the people wait on bridges or wherever to wait for the government (usually the U.S. government) to come and help them! Here the citizens are out as soon as they can to help, clean debris away, clean what they can, and start to rebuild! My daughter and son-in-laws church was flooded to the second level (where they hold church service), a separate wing for special occasions as well as two separate storage buildings were washed away, however, in the area of the church a small stand with 3 flimsy legs left a bible untouched on top of it! What do you make of that?! At any rate, after Sunday, where another church allowed them to have Sunday service, which was Monday morning many of the members were there to start cleaning and removing all the dirt from the flood! The police showed up and wanted them to leave, saying they had to wait for a government inspection, but after the Pastor spoke with them the police allowed them to stay and start cleaning! A group of young men showed up that had just started a lawn and grading company and removed all the dirt and debris from the parking lot! This is what happens in mid-USA! Do you think this would happen in the big cities? I doubt it! This is in Erwin TN! So the spirit of the USA is still alive but not in the big liberal cites!
Mr Thompson big's produce farm on the River was destroyed. He told WJHL 11News that he will not be building back. I sure going to miss you. Thank You for all the wonderful produce through the years.
Some of the people of Asheville are being so Unappreciative of what they do have. If you still have your House and Power you need to not be so unthankful for that. You can live without water wow so unthankful for what you Do have.
No words can describe the force of destruction. Wow, that is after the storm as it recedes. Lord help us.I still don't understand how the rivers could have risen so much from "Hell"ene in Florida. Was it because of so much rain or did it push its way up the rivers?
20+ inches of rain and the reservoirs were at capacity, which is to be expected, open flood gates many dams in multiple states. The previous day that whole area got 3,4,5 inches of rain from a differ low system.
Rain. This is far too far inland for storm surge. And there was some wind but not hurricane-force, enough to do light damage but nothing more. This was all the result of 15-30 inches of rain in an 18-24 hour period in an area that was already pretty wet. Helene ran into another low pressure system on its west side as it tracked over the mountains that made it drop even more rain. All that water in those rugged mountains ran into the hundreds of little creeks and streams that dot the landscape, and they overflowed, and then it rushed down into the bigger streams, and they overflowed, and then it rushed down into the larger rivers, and THEY overflowed...and this is what resulted.
God bless all involved in the devastation left behind by hurricane Helene. I pray for those that lost family and friends, homes, businesses and towns for Jesus to wrap his loving arms around you comfort and give you hope. In Jesus name I pray. Amen 🙏 ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm almost afraid to ask ... Where did all the homes go? The debris in surrounding areas don't appear to contain contents from entire homes. Are these images after clean up had already started? Were people and their pets able to evacuate safely in time?
This area has flooded before and the residents know they are going to get wet. But they were not expecting the wall of water they got. They should not rebuild, and should not wait for services to be restored. Evacuate.
@@swl9270want you to know we see you TN. I told my brother in GA it's a game of literal inches now in the aftermath. It's overwhelming but important to garner early on all recovery and aid threads from FEMA to state emergency management to county and town. Thinking about that in the midst of this seems impossible but extremely necessary to aid your recovery. Please know our hearts are with you. You are not alone.
How on earth do you clean up all that mess. In addition to natural debris, all the man made objects that are mixed in complicate things greatly. It'll take years to recover.
I noticed stating about this point 1:29 in the video that some vehicles have ❌ sprayed on them, while others close by do not. What does that mean for the ones that do have them, did they find someone inside them?
I wonder do you think when the build back happens. There will be a place for the water to go or build back as was? I live in an area where tornados happen in the same area often about every 4 years they take out my town. They always build back the same. I don't know if there is things that can be done differently to make thibg more resilient aginst the flooding that happened there. I get its not happening all the time. Just seems like some kind of effort to make sure all that water has some where planed to go. Maybe even capture some of it to filter and drink.

@@Moose6340 wow, thank you, that makes more sense now. Just wondered if people could have had time to leave.
@@cececat9549Mt Mitchell, the origin of the Nolichucky, received over 24" rain in 24 hours. That's how it happened...
God bless 🇺🇸
God bless all involved in the devastation left behind by hurricane Helene. I pray for those that lost family and friends, homes, businesses and towns for Jesus to wrap his loving arms around you comfort and give you hope. In Jesus name I pray. Amen 🙏 ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
How are these people going to vote now? How will they recover documents too? Prayers
I'm beginning to believe that flooding is worse than...
is stronger than...
and is more destructive than.....
Tornadoes.

Home town
We just took a truck load of stuff there today. It's a mess!
A hundred years of building and in one day it’s destroyed it’s heartbreaking 💔 😢
some of the worst damage I've seen, wow! :(
I'm almost afraid to ask ...
Where did all the homes go? The debris in surrounding areas don't appear to contain contents from entire homes. Are these images after clean up had already started?
Were people and their pets able to evacuate safely in time?
Hurricanes aiming for Tennessee these days not just Miami Beach Florida
This area has flooded before and the residents know they are going to get wet. But they were not expecting the wall of water they got. They should not rebuild, and should not wait for services to be restored. Evacuate.
And where would we go? This is our DAMN. home!
As soon as I posted, ''🤔This video could be from anywhere. Why no street names or at least route numbers?🤔.'' this video came up on UA-cam.
When they show the road and you can see all the years under the soft soil back to the hard rock.... 0:38
Where is the help for these people?
Looks like running inland to avoid the hurricane is starting to look like a bad idea
All assistance is local
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
How on earth do you clean up all that mess. In addition to natural debris, all the man made objects that are mixed in complicate things greatly. It'll take years to recover.
So many pics of just a concrete pad. No house. No debris. Just a pad. Hope these folks by the water had flood insurance.
Nope.
I noticed stating about this point 1:29 in the video that some vehicles have ❌ sprayed on them, while others close by do not. What does that mean for the ones that do have them, did they find someone inside them?
I think red X means rescue workers checked the vehicle, no body was found, vehicle was empty
What river is this ? Anyone know ? Thanks for the great footage 🙏🏼🙏🏼 for all ..
It’s the Little Tennessee River
It is Nolichucky River and the collapsed bridge is Taylor bridge. My husband and I usually drive around this area or take this road straight to Erwin on weekends. It is a beautiful place for weekend driving. It's sad to see this devastation.
@@WHITEHAWK325no it is not the little TN.
This is the Nolichucky river that heads up k. Th N Tow river in Huntdale Nc and ends at the convergence of Cocke, Hamblen and Jefferson counties in TN at the N end of Douglas Lake
Jonesborough is one of the most beautiful, historic, sweet little towns in Tennessee. The people are friendly, caring, and gracious. A true gem! My heart bleeds for them.
It really does look like an EF4 tornado went through except for the trees. Wow.
It’s devastating.
what were all those white wire looking things on the ground? is it just all powerlines?
