As a Floridian I think that no one should be allowed to rebuild on a barrier island. They should be returned to their natural state for the reason they were intended, which is to protect all of us from nature’s devastation
I am a 68 yr old native Fla boy who has experienced hurricanes in Fla, Louisiana, and Texas. Today an act of extreme kindness was shown to Us as we desperately looked For someone to erect out 2nd story storm shudders. A couple drove up, got their ladder out and helped me and my neighbor refusing to accept any pmt or donation. This couple has restored my faith in my fellow human being, yes it has changed me intensely as this is Agape Love that expects nothing in return as the reward is in their hearts.
I’ve spent the past week helping clean up on St Pete Beach. It’s heartbreaking. This video captures very well what’s going on here, and now we are hunkering down for what’s sure to be worse. As I read through the comments, there are so many heartless people saying, “They knew the risks!” Well, if we abandon Florida because of hurricanes, California for earthquakes, the entire central US for tornados, etc. etc. etc., where will we all live? The moon? Like the man said, this isn’t a competition. Have some compassion, people, because you may be next. Nobody is safe from nature.
There are few places with no risk. I live 80 metres above sea level. Like I always say, if I'm flooded, there are other worse problems afoot. However, mud slide, yep could happen.
Nature? Or Bill Gates and his billionaire eugenic freaks who want global control of us all. Yes, Gates has a patent (2009) on hurricane control. Imagine the ego on this person of interest and others like him? NASA, UN, WEF, CIA, controlled puppets in our governments, agencies, and corporations are all guilty in the destruction of our country...piece by piece...whether it be physically, spiritually or mentally...they are doing it.
Nobody is safe from nature but there are certain spots on the map scientists have warned the increasing risk predicted from the physics and chemistry of the earth system. It's been more than one year since abnormally high ocean temperature was reported globally, which means higher chances of devastating hurricanes.
Yes, in another comment section several months ago I mentioned the wildfires Oregon has had over the past few years. One of the other commenters didn’t even seem to believe me. I’m like… look it up! Entire towns were devastated! It’s like they only ever heard of California having wildfires or earthquakes.
I appreciate your addressing right away that this is not a pain olympics or a trauma competition. As someone who lived in FL from Charlie to Matthew and now lives in NC, my heart aches for everyone. I am sending you such love. Thank you so much for making this video. 💕💕
I'm sorry but my heart does NOT ache for all those idiots that build houses along the shore lines. HURRICANES ARE NOT NEW! Would you build a house on a mountain also? ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS USE COMMON SENSE TO KNOW THAT THAT PROBABLY WASN'T A GOOD IDEA. Meanwhile, I heart aches for those in NC and TN who didn't choose to build houses next to the ocean! This is just proof that rich people seriously lack common sense.
@@nunyadamnbizness9600 What an empty life you must have. Nothing but, what, a dog and time to scream for attention in [the comments of] videos about tragedy. I truly pity you. *edit []
No one is showing what is happening in the Carolinas, where there is no rescue, barrely only by locals and there are people stuck in the mountains. The government is doing nothing!
I live in The Plains, Ohio and all we got was heavy rain and, wind gusts up to 50 mph and that was too much for my small town to handle. I told my mother, could you imagine what the people down in Florida, have had to go through. My heart truly goes out to everyone impacted by this storm.
Prayers for GA♥️i live in NC. I'm 61, never saw flooding like this in our mountain counties. The destruction is all over. FL, TN, SC, GA, NC💔 we all help each other in south, always have & always will! ♥️🙏♥️
We in North Carolina haven't forgotten about Florida and we think and pray even more for Florida with hurricane Milton moving in. We're hoping it turns and misses Florida all together . No one can help what the media covers, and not every where in NC is being covered, however it's been so heart warming to see how the locals from NC and Tennessee have stepped up to help each other .Regardless of what the media does and does not cover, we're all in this together no matter the miles in between . God Bless Us All and please Stay Safe 💙🙏❤️✝️
No one has forgotten Florida, ma'am. In fact, they're talking about it right now because God's Wrath hath sent A New Hurricane toward them, now the Tampa area must stop rebuild and prep for another flood and storm
@@undefined69695 Are you sure it's My God ? I was kind of leaning more towards man destroying himself. Cut down all the trees there goes oxygen . Dump chemicals in the ocean ...I would go on but naw ..Thank you for responding .
@@undefined69695 This isn't God doing this, research cloud seeding hurricanes. NOAA celebrates its 70th anniversary of cloud seeding hurricanes. Geoengineered.
@susank6116 you cannot physically do that therefore what you are saying is nonsense. You can't defy the law of physics and atmospheric behaviors like the Gulfstream and the humidity of the ocean air
Really great piece. My Dad's home flooded 21" during Ian and his home was 46ft. above sea level in Orlando. Last weekend we went down to help my cousin and her family when their Tampa bay home flooded about the same. It was not on the water, several blocks from there. I'm beginning to think it's just such a risk to live here at all. Appreciate the thoughtful coverage and in depth interviews.
@@donskuse2194why should taxpayers bail out the people of Asheville NC or Wilkes-Barre PA (Agnes 1972)? After all hurricanes destroyed those places too. Or how about Oklahoma City which has had 5 major tornadoes in the past couple decades?
Doesn’t matter if his home was 46’ . The building has disrupted the natural flow of drainage anyway! If you build near the coast you run the risk period . Sorry for the losses! 😬
THANK YOU for saying it out loud: we are not in competition for suffers the most!! It's not either-or, like the media likes to portray. Thank you for bringing Florida to light. You are in our prayers as many of you brace for a second one this week.
Should we be thankful for the Patents that allowed the ALLEGED life-saving GeoEngineering of storms, ALLEGEDLY to STOP them‼️ What happened ⁉️ They're obviously NOT being stopped or even slowed down ... 🤔

Ohhhhh, I can’t imagine the depth of sadness, pain, aloneness, depression, and grief people are experiencing at this moment from all the areas hit by Helene or Milton or any disaster around the world. Often people watch the disasters, are stunned, reach out, maybe donate, then go on their way. They are all living their lives too. I know I have been this way. It is definitely not about who has it worse, but having compassion and empathy for everyone’s experience. My heart and prayers are with you. I live in Asheville. As you said in St. Petersburg, this is our home. The heartbreak is deep. Hang in there. Moment, by moment. Thinking of so many people…❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for putting this video out. I feel like Florida was completely forgotten about. Please everyone stay safe, we have another storm on the way that is set to hit us.

I was born and raised in St. Pete Beach, and I've lived in Western North Carolina for 14 years now; we left Tampa because of this precise reason, plus sea level rise and extreme heat. To have one hurricane destroy both areas in still incomprehensible to me. This was the most excellent piece I've seen in a long time, but I hate to have been right, you knows? Many thanks and good luck in the coming months, Jessica
Born in St. Pete. Raised in clearwater and Madeira beach. Live in AZ now. I have been in tears seeing this. I can't stop. A lot of family still lives in Florida and SC.
Your right. It has been shoved off of the news. Sorry about that, your state matters too. God bless you for your video to remind us pain hit everywhere.
Everything gets shoved off the news, no one remembers the Carolinas anymore. And I do believe there’s absolutely no people left in Gaza or Ukraine. (Ukraine, they’re pulling kids off the street and sending troops in from other countries so they can be eliminated)
Not the same. Floridians know these things are seasonal dangers. We can prepare, we can leave, we can not live right on the water. We have WARNINGS Those folks in the mountains had NO WARNINGS
I have been through hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, icestorms, and bliizzards in my life. No matter where you live, always be prepared! It is naive that you think you can escape mother nature, even more now with climate change!
Thank you. Came to note this as well. Anyone who lives by the ocean should be prepared. Same for people in tornado areas. Same for earthquakes. The inland and mountainous areas were taken totally by surprise. Unfortunately, I think this will become common 😞
It's not the same, no. But it's still a tragedy to lose your house and belongings. As Jonathan said, he's not trying to make it a contest of whose pain is worse. He's simply pointing out that people have a right to grieve for their communities wherever those communities are hit by disaster. In the UK we have issues with communities being lost to coastal erosion. Houses built on cliffsides which are crumbling. People live in those houses knowing that the cliff gets ever closer - but the towns were built long before that time, when the cliff edge was hundreds of feet away. People continue to live there because people have friends, family nearby. Because they grew up there and can't imagine living anywhere else. I would no more fault Floridians for mourning the damage of a hurricane than I would an elderly british couple crying as their house is condemned due to the landslide getting too close. Equally, I can feel that sorrow and sympathy for Florida at the same time as I can understand just how devastating the situation in WNC/Eastern Tennessee is. We don't need to pick and choose. We can understand that those affected are living with a situation no one would ask for.
It’s overlooked because Floridians know exactly what to expect every hurricane season, and have a year to prepare or move. It’s like living in California and being surprised that a wildfire popped up. There should be nobody surprised by it, you know it’s coming and foolish if you’re not ready. How do you prepare for a hurricane when you live in the mountains several hundred miles from the coast? As a Ex-Floridian I had precut plywood and pre installed anchors for the windows, pre filled reusable sandbags, propane tanks, etc. because I knew year in and year out that hurricane season was coming. Now living in the mountains, I pre fill water containers, stock firewood, gas for generators and chainsaw because I know winter is coming. But Helene was a monster that nobody up here would ever suspect. That’s why it’s in the news, it’s a tragedy that nobody expected.
Exactly. There's a tremendous difference between a seasonal, expected and predictable hurricane, vs a 1000-year flood. The pain is real for everyone, but that doesn't mean what happened in NC and the surrounding area isn't more newsworthy, just like I'd expect to hear about a catastrophic wildfire in Maine compared to a hillside going up in flames in California.
I agree. I live in the north east and I know, every winter, there could be drastic blizzards and ice storms. So we make sure our equipment is ready and all of that. I'd take snow any day over these sorts of disasters
I really feel for these people, you can hear the desperation in their voices. I hope you get the help you need and can get on your feet again as soon as possible
It’s just getting started. You can hear the stress getting to people. Studies show all cause mortality jumps after hurricane landfalls because of stress.
Compassion for ALL in FL. It could be any of us, anywhere nature's fury hits. This is important and *excellent* coverage. Thank you! We lived in FL 23 years (now SC). Hurricane season is hard to endure. God protect you from Milton & all other storms😥🙏
Lifelong Ks resident and multiple tornado survivor here. I’m thinking of you and your neighbors trying to wrap your heads around the destruction. Unfortunately, there are plenty of broken hearts to go around. Thank you for sharing these stories. Your resilience is commendable.
What's with all the “God bless”? A higher power has absolutely nothing to do with it. Humans alone are increasingly destroying nature and changing the climate. A “small” storm like this is just a tiny harbinger of what awaits us all in the coming decades. And of course, as a believer, you can pray and run to church every week, but it won't change anything and it won't help anyone.
@@JonathanPetramalaThe channel her on YT called « Redacted» with Natali and Clayton Morris have a video: «The US Government is controlling the weather» it`s shocking!!
Absolutely!!! Just because someone lives in an area of frequent natural disasters and storms, does not negate their heartache loss, and despair. Praying for all of your safety, and that you receive the support that you desperately need!💔
@@SongbirdstressIt's a matter of calculating the risk. I'm in Southern California. Yeah we have fires and earthquakes. People can choose to not live in a high risk fire zone. Earthquakes can be an issue but the 7 pointers occur around every 100 years or so, (30% chance in the next 100 years for an 8 pointer) . In Florida the odds of a major incident is 100% five times a year. I don't care if people live there but do it at THEIR own risk, not the taxpayers or insurers.
"In Florida, the devastation doesnt scream, it simmers. Its quieter ..." We lived in FL 23 years. Jonathan, you did a phenomenal job. Brilliant coverage of a terrible tyrant, Helene. My heart goes out & my prayers are for each life impacted & each family & home devastated / destroyed to recover and get mental health services as needed. Counseling for survivors can be very helpful. Acute stress disorder (up to 30 days post-Helene ) & PTSD (31+ days) are real. Disasters shake us to the core. We survive. Communities get stronger. But at a great cost. Thank you for addressing economic impact on homeowners. The term "buyer resistance" stood out. I feel so bad for the first time home buyers. Nice intro w the gentleman who shows damaged photos. Hold onto everything, to stay connected to your roots!
It's absolutely more devastating for low lying areas, especially given the intensity and regularity. I've heard in some places you can't get this kind of storm coverage in your home insurance and if you can, it's extremely expensive.
I live on the South East coast of Florida and have been through many many Hurricanes since 1979. But these Hurricanes of late are just a whole new animal! My Prayers to all of you who have lost everything. It's heartbreaking watching the video's from Florida and then NC, TN ect. 😢 And here comes another, straight at you and this one is then coming to me here on the East Coast, fingers crossed, Prayers said for this one.🤞🙏🥺
Yeah , it isn’t any different than 120 or so years ago since record keeping. Just way more people and more homes to destroy. Only 3.4 million people in 1974 now 23 million! Gigantic difference. I was here so I’ve seen it !
Jonathan, this is EXCELLENT reporting! Thank you for putting this video together! I can't wait to see your video for Milton. It's going to be incredible. There's so much damage. You've earned a new subscriber! Thank you again!
So grateful to have found your channel this year. Thank you for your continuing outstanding coverage of these storms. You help a lot of people; truly the best in the business.
Those of us who live on the southeastern coast have been through many different types of hurricanes. A storm might be low in category but large in size and moving slowly. These cause massive flood damage. A category 4 that is compact and moving quickly will cause mostly wind damage before going out to sea. No one can predict the level of devastation a hurricane leaves behind. Florida hasn't been forgotten its just that some situations have to be dealt with first. People are still missing family members in NC. People are stranded with no food, water or ability to contact the outside world.
Texans remember Harvey, the slow moving monster that caused the deaths of so many & interrupted the entire coast for days. Those things aren't to be toyed with & I moved away as I was able to transfer with my company; I was lucky.
@@PAMELAPORTER-ci7mrwhat was the death toll of Harvey? Funny how some storms stick in mind and others are totally forgotten. Harvey sticks in my mind.
@@destinycoach5 Right. I can't even remember the years they some storms hit, but I remember Katrina. New Orleans is my hometown and I lost everything in that storm...
@@PAMELAPORTER-ci7mrYou’re one of the smart ones Pamela, and as you say you were also “lucky”. Some people have the money (ie. job) and wherewithal to know when it’s time to stop fighting Mother Nature and therefore pack up and move where the climate is more stable and less destructive. Many others are too poor and/or uneducated to pull up roots and leave. As long as well off taxpayers choose to remain in place the local and federal governments will continue to play whack-a-mole with these storms which, as we all know, is a fruitless exercise. Insurers are backing away and no government can afford to insure millions of home. Climate refugees will have to become public policy in the near future. Better to leave now why you still have the choice of where to go. Time to fill up North and South Dakota!
Thank you for showing this. I'm so sorry that North Carolina and Tennessee has overshadowed Florida. I am a Tennessean and I am so so very sorry for all you Florida residents.. I have been praying for everyone effected by Hurricane Helen..
Hello, I would like to thank you for your publication and join you in expressing my sorrow at this catastrophe. I am truly sorry for the victims of this disaster.
I'm up here in western NC, YEA, WE GOT BOMBED, and so did yall!! Thank you for posting this, just shows the fury of Helene, from landfall, to mountains! Everyone that was in the path should be remembered equally. God Bless y'all!!!
I was really sorry to see all the reports from NC. I could not believe it was so flooded in the mountains. There were rapids, in the forest, in the mountains! I have never seen anything like it. Sending thoughts for everyone’s recovery.
This is a great piece of reporting and it’s painful to see the loss and suffering. With Milton coming, we need to think long and hard about building anything in low lying areas of coastal Florida. The science and recent history show the worst is yet to come.
Thank you for covering storm damage in FL. The sand is blowing my mind. I grew up on the East coast in FL and moved away 25 years ago. Now living in Greenville SC and seeing the tropical weather this far inland was insane. Much love to you all in FL ❤
I don't know if you work for a new agency, but you're reporting the past week since i came across your videos has been simply outstanding. Your honest and informative, which is something lacking from MSM. Yes, honesty isn't always nice or drives clicks, but it is so valuable and appreciated by citizens trying to make informed decisions. THANK YOU. Hopefully you find better shelter when reporting than you did when you lost your roof during the storm. While you're reporting may cost you your life one day, you save so many more because of that courage. ❤ It's the exact reason i clear the roads of trees during hurricanes, so police, fire, ambulances and power companies can help our citizens. It REALLY makes a difference, even if you don't get credit or others don't notice your efforts.
It's sad that it seems to be more affordable to throw away tons of materials and build it to be thrown away again. Its kind of disgusting to think about.
JP, you interviewed me 2 yrs ago as I shoveled snow in a Sierra Nevada snowstorm. That was fun, this is just heartbreaking. Anybody buying real estate in FL below 20’ elevation can expect this heartbreak, it’s just a matter of when. Thanks for your quality coverage!
Jonathan had unbelievable coverage of the snow storms in California the last few yrs. I recommend people look at his channel for those videos. Climbing 25 foot ladders, up walls of snow, to get into houses!
6:50 honestly your own statement is why the flooding in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia is different. I saw one gentleman in North Carolina who was 72 and his Mom was 94 said they were lifetime residents of Buncombe County ( Ashville ) and flooding had never before been an issue at their homesites. He said water level was 11 feet above where it had ever been. 11 feet. That's historic and unfathomable. Those residents had no idea they were vulnerable.
You're right. NO ONE expected a hurricane to hit 300 miles inland and 2k feet above sea level. Flood insurance is something no one thought to invest in, not in the mountains.
The powers trying to depopulate us are messing with the weather using drones, many chemicals etc. That is why Ashville had 11 feet of water out of nowhere! Wake up people!
Thank you brother. Ive been doing hurricane clean up & mold/remediation this last week since the hurricane. I luckily live far enough inland that we didnt have to deal with the flooding. But the homes ive been cleaning up, these families lost everything. Literally everything. All the memories and the places they once called home, destroyed. This is the worst devastation to Florida since Mitchell, i believe. This is so sad, I wish i could do more for these people.
I remember being really young and driving along the Florida coast before huge hotels were put in and there were still homes on the beach that were up in stilts about 10 ft or so off the ground
Thank you Mr. Petramala for your work. Very well done. Please continue this much needed type of reporting and whatever other topics you cover. You gained a follower of your work.
Thank you for posting this, as sad as it was to watch. I've seen so many videos of what happened in North Carolina, which was devastating, but I wondered about Florida, thinking surely there must have been devastation there as well. My prayers ascend for all who were impacted by Helene and I am praying that God will stop the next hurricane before it hits land.
Mold is well understood and simple to remediate. When managed it's a non-issue, feel free to read up on the information provided by organizations such as the EPA, which make it clear that people often overreact regarding mold.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I was born and raised in St. Petersburg and still have a LOT of family and friends there. This just breaks my heart! I’m continuing to pray.

I was literally just taking to my oldest daughter who used to live in Tampa Bay 2 years ago. Florida is scaring me because we’re not hearing anything. I understand why North Carolina has dominated the news cycle but it really does feel the national media has left Florida twisting in the wind. I don’t want any more coverage of Israel and Ukraine. I’m big supporters of both but for the immediate future we and our media, us as citizens and us has humans needs to look out for each other. Milton will be here very soon, I’m worried about all the loose debris and a storm surge impacting the actual Tampa Bay. Saw the bay itself averages 12 feet in depth except for large shipping lanes. The surge being predicted for Milton is 15-19 feet so in theory the Bay is going to double in depth during the storm. Praying for all those impacted by these storms.
And to know that another potential major hurricane has a good solid chance to directly strike St. Pete is just absolutely mind blowing to me. Helene was already so destructive, and now this next one is going to cripple us. I’ve already made the decision to move far north after this storm is over.
@@Bbbbar123what mistake? How am I supposed to help what happens or where I live? My house was almost wiped clean from the waters from Helene, piss off jackass
Good piece, I lived in Florida most of my life right on the Ocean or very near I was prepared then and knew more or less the threat. I survived many many storms, fought the insurance companies, Paid the ridiculous fees with little or no return or dragged out processes. I delt with the scammers, helped so many of my neighbors and friends (There's still that happening) I left because of the amount of people that came in, I get it! Its a cool place to live. My heart and donations goes out to the Appalachians on this one.
Thanks for providing a look into things on the ground. One note - whoever told that young couple with the new house that it doesn't usually flood - was lying. Look at the water damage on the studs and bottom plate. That house has flooded repeatedly.
That wood isn't pressure treated and just the moisture through the concrete can turn the wood that color and decay it. It probably has been flooded quite a few times though.
It flooded last year with Idalia about 13 inches. But historically, the house has sat there since the 1960s and hadn’t taken water on. But now twice in a year.
Thanks for your deeply personal look at the damage in Pinellas county. I understand that you may not want to mention controversial topics, but sea level rise is going to make all of Florida closer to sea level if not below sea level in 50 years.
Milton’s gonna wash away all the sand that Helene brought. Well, maybe. This is why I moved far inland. Been in FL for over 30 years and it has absolutely become hotter and the hurricanes more frequent and stronger.
Thanks for sharing this video. There’s so much damage, it’s hard to get the word out. And people can see what’s going on. And who needs help. May peace be with you
You are exactly right. Every time anyone gets hit, it hurts to see humans hurt. We are all in this together. And it’s definitely not a competition to see who has the most devastation, who has lost the most lives. It would be good to test ourselves to see how many people we can help.
It’s not a contest but at least you all still have roads to get in and out. I’m on the west coast and we have been suffering from fires the last several years. It’s hard to see everything you’ve spent a life building destroyed in an instance. Prayers to all
No matter where you live where you were hurt by this hurricane help each other I’ve noticed is the best thing for everybody a sense of purpose, and putting your life back together to this shall pass our prayers are with you🙏😞
I've wondered why we've hardly seen anything about Florida and just a little about South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. It seems like the entirety of the focus, especially misinformation and disparaging those providing emergency and rescue services, is all focused on North Carolina. What's up with that? 🤔
They wont say anything because its proof of climate change and as we can all see, both candidates running dont want to have to deal with climate change because one thinks the solution is to drill baby drill and the other is too scared to look like a communist. Florida has been swepped under the rug entirely.

I have family who work on the Keys in Sarasota and have been unable to return to work due to building damages from surge. They are beyond stressed over this next system. The past few years have just been brutal.
We need to teach better science to these people. This has been predicted for over 40 years. Do not buy any houses in Florida, if the insurance companies cant make money, you know that Florida as a whole is a lost cause. Milton will make Helene look like a drizzle, GET OUT NOW.
My B-in-Law has a house just south of Galveston, TX. It is on 12' stilts, by law, to avoid the inevitable next hurricane. Any house rebuilt there in FL should do the same. Ocean front living does have some advantages and allure, but you need to be prepared or you get this.
I feel horrible for anyone losing a home, but should you really be allowed to build and keep rebuilding in an area that continually floods? Everyone would love to have beach front property, but is it worth the financial devastation and potential loss of life? Hope everyone stays safe with next storm coming.
Good job developing this video document! Although this type of loss doesn't compare to the loss in NC, it still shows the very real aftermath that no one wants to go through. This was a life changing disaster for so many.

I'm a Van lifer.
I love where Ever I choose.
And I have the freedom to leave.
SO?
Is the house and Asset? Or a liability now
Nobody is safe from nature but there are certain spots on the map scientists have warned the increasing risk predicted from the physics and chemistry of the earth system. It's been more than one year since abnormally high ocean temperature was reported globally, which means higher chances of devastating hurricanes.
Michigan. Never experienced any natural disaster here.
True we lost 45 years together of everything in a wild fire in Oregon last summer. The pain is the same no matter what kind of disaster.
Fires, tornadoes & hurricanes are all full of human tragedies. Life is hard.
So true, we in the SE have been watching in horror as the West & HI are being ignored, too!😮💨🙏🕊️
Yes, in another comment section several months ago I mentioned the wildfires Oregon has had over the past few years. One of the other commenters didn’t even seem to believe me. I’m like… look it up! Entire towns were devastated! It’s like they only ever heard of California having wildfires or earthquakes.
It seems like a disaster gets a lot of attention until the next disaster.

Solid comprehensive reporting here, sir. You don't exaggerate or blame anyone, you show the human cost and you do it well! Thank you!
Thank you, I try to show the human side of storms
Not the same.
Floridians know these things are seasonal dangers.
We can prepare, we can leave, we can not live right on the water.
We have WARNINGS
Those folks in the mountains had
NO WARNINGS
Was just about to say the same. It’s different
I agree. We know all year long that we might get hit this time of year. Those further north aren't thinking they could go through this.
Rationalization does not negate pain and suffering.
I agree. I live in the north east and I know, every winter, there could be drastic blizzards and ice storms. So we make sure our equipment is ready and all of that. I'd take snow any day over these sorts of disasters
yeah, nature can be unpredictable. But preparation is always better
100%
I really feel for these people, you can hear the desperation in their voices. I hope you get the help you need and can get on your feet again as soon as possible
It’s just getting started. You can hear the stress getting to people. Studies show all cause mortality jumps after hurricane landfalls because of stress.

Well they certainly had no idea that they were THAT vulnerable. 11 feet is unbelievable.
Totally agree, but these Floridians building and re-building on the beach at sea level are just morons.

This was very well done & informative. Thank you. Those vintage 1 story houses are my favorite, but yes they need to be lifted. Stay safe all!
Jonathan, excellent report! My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones and housing... Thank you. Lived in Orlando 94 - 96. Loved going to Clearwater Beach to relax...
I appreciate it
My heart breaks for all devasted by the storm and what's to come with Milton. I'm in Mobile, AL ... was raised in Biloxi and Ocean Springs, MS. We are all praying for safety for y'all. ❤️🙏
Good, gtfo out gentrifier. Shouldve learned from your grandparents mistakes.
We are just north of Tampa and we’re already preparing. ❤
@@Bbbbar123wow guy, did you really just say that?
@@Bbbbar123what mistake? How am I supposed to help what happens or where I live? My house was almost wiped clean from the waters from Helene, piss off jackass
FL has always been a sea-level isthmus that gets scoured constantly by hurricanes
Sitting here today and cannot imagine a 2nd round of this right now. Prayers for Florida NC and all affected by this horrible weather. 🙏
The insight from the real estate agent was so informative and on point. Thoughts go to all who have lost so much during these natural events.
Thank you
Thank you for this heartfelt view of Florida devastation. Sending prayers...😢
So glad your documenting this❤️ people died, went missing... Severe injuries and missing beloved pets😢
I was thinking the same thing. However, if they were told that their house was in a flood plain, it's on them for buying.
Thanks for your deeply personal look at the damage in Pinellas county. I understand that you may not want to mention controversial topics, but sea level rise is going to make all of Florida closer to sea level if not below sea level in 50 years.
@@JonathanPetramalaclimate change is only ramping up due to Americas apathy towards acting on it. 😢
Amazing job on the mini documentary! Great work.
May peace be with you
I appreciate it and glad you understand why I made it
Well FEMA sure as hell isn't there. It's broke.
You are exactly right. Every time anyone gets hit, it hurts to see humans hurt.
We are all in this together. And it’s definitely not a competition to see who has the most devastation, who has lost the most lives.
It would be good to test ourselves to see how many people we can help.
Hard to understand why people don't understand that this is going to keep happening, more and more frequently.
It’s not a contest but at least you all still have roads to get in and out. I’m on the west coast and we have been suffering from fires the last several years. It’s hard to see everything you’ve spent a life building destroyed in an instance. Prayers to all
They do, Thank goodness!
Hugs to you from [central] NC, those CA fires look terrifying every time I see them on the news. 💕💕💕
@@Atreides42
They do and at least three of the last ones were set by a arsonist
I’m in Washington but Oregon ,Washington and Canada have all been hit
Very good coverage. Thanks for your time.
No matter where you live where you were hurt by this hurricane help each other I’ve noticed is the best thing for everybody a sense of purpose, and putting your life back together to this shall pass our prayers are with you🙏😞
why would you live somewhere that a storm that comes like every year comes and destroys all your things and your house.
5:50 judging by the colour of the lower areas of their home framing, it’s obvious that house has been flooded before.
Never saw anything about this on mainstream news. Thank you.
I appreciate you watching and seeking out information!
Yes, good information about FEMA codes and requirement to build up. I learned something new today.
@@missrose0077 im from canada & ive watched tons of content from all sorts of tv stations mostly in the usa but also canada & australia as well ~ & now a week later there are a lot of videos uploaded by people telling & showing their own personal storys which is very helpful yet sad but uplifting too ~
"our first house? yeah lets buy one that has flooded before, and is in a major flood zone" you gotta be shitting me.
Yeahhh where do I sign up 🙋🏼♂️😬
Always have wishful thinkers out there.
Today Hurricane Milton is announced for later in the day, so I ended up here. Good video explaining the problems in that area without being sensationalist. Greetings from Argentina.
Thank you…love Argentina
Great Job ,telling the Storys on the Backside of Breaking News. The Real People affected by the Storms.
Thank you as always for your support!
I LOVE Florida, it is my favourite state, love the vibe, it is my dream to live down there, & I'm a Canadian! My heart breaks for Floridians, great people, beautiful counties, sending positive vibes for all of you! Florida will not be forgotten! Prayers to ALL that were affected by this massive hurricane - regardless of where you live - Stay strong!!
As a Canadian that lived in Fort- Lauderdale and spent 10 years in Miami when Florida was fun and cheap. Now it’s over it’s way over priced and the bloom is gone.
No more Florida it’s over.
@@a.a.p3254so where next mr know it all
I've been through a few hurricanes. With what you've already been through I'd pack what I could right now and get out before this next one hits you. You're right, it's not going to be good. May God bless you all and keep you safe. Please get out of there.
❤
It is never worth staying, especially in low lying areas
The last thing you should be praying to is god, because it, as the Christian Bible says, he 's almighty and can do anything.
This is definitely a message and warning Mother nature is sending.
I have family who work on the Keys in Sarasota and have been unable to return to work due to building damages from surge. They are beyond stressed over this next system. The past few years have just been brutal.
Thank you for bringing humanity to this issue. It’s definitely not a competition…it’s reality.
Nice job. Thanks for telling the story.
Thanks for listening
0:55 who would shrug after seeing such devastation?
People can be blind
I do. I live in Montana. We never care here.
People have the choice to move
Fla has been getting hit by cyclones for years.
No one would, even those who think it might have been “minor” would know things were damaged
I always wanted to live on the beach but this is why I only visit. Sadly
Good job developing this video document! Although this type of loss doesn't compare to the loss in NC, it still shows the very real aftermath that no one wants to go through. This was a life changing disaster for so many.
It is Monday afternoon, 2:00 EDT. Hurricane Milton is already a Category 5, and is due to hit somewhere between Tampa Bay and Ft Myers on Wednesday. Lets pray that the intensity of the storm weakens considerably before it hits land! 🙏
I mean, as he said. At some point, humans will learn living in these conditions is unsustaible. Even if insurrers need to up the discriminate rates for people in Tampa bay specifically. It isn't a one off anymore if it happens every other year
God bless all and speedy recovery 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Governor, DeSantis.... another hurricane is headed to your state!! It's a nightmare again!!
OMG!😢
DeSatan does'nt care.
he will deny any federal aid like usual.
😢😢 watching these storms from Canada is so heartbreaking...we rarely get a bad storm surge but our coast is higher than sea level for the most part.
You people are all ignorant
