Archers not too bad, actually it’s pretty damn good for us firewood guys. Hell most of us firewood guys are just Heatin our house with wood to save money anyway. Get a good saw, long bar, with a sharp chain. You’re gonna have a good day.
My experience so far has been that it holds an edge very well. Cut all day in some DIRTY wood and never touched it. Other brands used that day didn’t last near as long. Can’t beat it for the price.
Nice saw. I have a couple 266 carcasses that I intend on bring back to life. They were gifted to me from a friend. Never put much thought into chain brands, least expensive is usually the way I roll. Cut, sharpen, cut, sharpen, rinse and repeat...😂. Usually run Oregon, it works. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
Last time I ordered chain a couple months ago, by the loop, atleast in the sizes I needed, Archer was less than 10% cheaper than EXL. By the roll on the other hand... way better deal! That archer does seem better than the re branded tri-link sold in about every box store in the US. Love that bar! Hope to get one or two in the near future.
I stumbled across Archer chains while looking for a cheaper option on eBay. Been pretty happy with them, just have to be careful to get them on the sprocket because they’re a bit thinner than Oregons.
When I got my 395 it had a new 32" Tsumura light weight bar and a loop of new Archer chain on it, I felled a 8" Walnut and bucked it up, the chain needed adjustment 3 times and the last time it actually threw the chain!?? My wife volunteered us for search and rescue last fall, I put my New 36" Sugihara light weight bar and a loop of Oregon JGX on it, I cleared the road of about 20 8"-24" blowdown Douglas firs and bucked them and the only issue was one rolled on me and I stuck the tip in the gravel!?, the good cut went away but that wasn't the chains fault! I earn my living with my tools too, my tool box is a MATCO, it's full of about a 50/50 mix of SnapOn and MAC, with a sprinkling of Matco and Cornwell, and some Proto but all of my air tool are INGERSOLL RAND.
Hey man, love these videos of your older saws, currently waiting on parts to bringa 61 back from the dead and vcinvert to 272, also doing the big bore conersion on makita 6400! Couldn't of done it with your channel! Thanks a lot, hope your families well!
I found Archer chain a few years back and bought a cheap harbor freight spinner that works good enough. I’m wondering if Archer has gotten better since my older stuff was made.
My experience with Archer chain is it's a bit soft, stretches a bit much. I tend to touch up my chain every time I refuel so can't say much about the durability of the cutter bits.
Tinman, question... When tuning the chainsaw carb, you want the four stroking to clean up in the cut. Now, if you adjust the high jet to clean up in, lets say a 8 to 10 inch, log, when you buck a 15-20 inch log using those same settings on the carb as used for the 8 to 10 inch log, won't you be too lean in the 15-20 inch log? Do you constantly lean or fatten out the high jets based on the thickness of your log?
Would that be a good combo for an Echo 590? I don't intend on cutting anything larger than I do with my 20 inch bar but that bending over kills my back in a hurry. 👍🍻
I just did a video on the Tsumura premium lite bar that i just bought. That bar is super lite. 28 inch bar and its only 10oz heavier than a 16 inch bar
I’m considering putting a hyway 52mm big bore with pop up piston on my 365sp. Will it make to much power for the bottom end if I also port it to have more blow down? What do you think the compression will be with that set up?
@@tinmanssaws also thank you for all your helpful content!! I use to be scared to rip a saw apart before watching you. Tonight I ripped my 266 apart to see how much filth was left in it after blowing it out last weekend. I also found a fuel leak in the fuel line so I went and picked one up at my local husky dealership and replaced it..
Sooooooo, what about using a wee bit of liquid metal to close down the intake? Makes for a great learning video 😮. You ain’t the first, and won’t be the last, so film it😊
Good video Tinman, I found you through buckin, watched some of your comparison''s videos of saws. 👍🏻 Ross
Good evaluation of the archer chains. I have found the first use on any new chain the stretch is the most after that it dose settle in. 👍👍
Oh and keep up the honesty and integrity. A lot of guys end up whoring themselves out for freebies.

You got to me Tinman, I finally made a pipe for my 046 and it’s amazing, what a difference

That saw and chain were cutting great

Coming up on a year this November since running the same bar on my 372xpg at work, it’s been great.
Pretty good chain at the price point. For the average weekend warrior, she’ll cut fer ya! Tsimura bars seem to be pretty damn good.
Archer has really been pumping out their product to saw channels recently.
Man, this makes me wish I never sold my 266SE. Nice saw!
Good to see you tinman❤ love your channel

I have some IR tools also. Great impact guns!!!!

Stand up and buck !
I jst ran a tank thru my jred 670 with a 24" tsumara ultra light after work tonight. Lightweight bars are well worth the money in my opinion

Archer has a coated tooth chain as well, that's the one I'm really curious to see if it's worth using
Tinman have you tried out the husqvarna X-Tough bar yet?
Ross
I actually really like archer chain, not as hard as stihl and not as sharp as Oregon EXL but for the price it’s excellent
You said the 266 is over intaked. Which Number has it?
👍

Cool video tinman one way i decide if I like a chain is by the way it files I don’t like harder chain because it kills my files
Any ideas where a guy could find a full wrap for a 266?
Pro safety makes them
@@tinmanssaws thank you kindly good sir

I get down on one knee because of my height and back too. Bout cost me an eyebrow last year
One step above home gamer, one step below pro use in quality. That’s where the price point is too. Oregon exl is hard to beat, but it’s more money.
I love my exl chain for sure. It's gone up in price a lot over the last couple of years
In Wisconsin I still get 20" exl for 17 buks a piece
Bout ready to fire off that Stratford II - 47 degrees | 8 degrees Canuckian
How can I get in touch with you?
My email is on my about page

Na I'll just run it til it warn out, Its another go to special saw that I'm attached.
How's the Tinman and family
Thanks tinman

its a bad chain and files from archer, just use them till dull and toss them. they are junk, metal hardness is all over the place.
