Interesting🤔. I've been cutting for three years now on my 20" hutzforma about 60 cords and it's helding up well. It was $60 and came with two chains, no charge for delivery. As you said, they were a low cost alternative for a decent bar and chain, for a wood cutter but they are now getting gready and pricing themselves out of the market. Equally, paying $300 for a bar makes me barf. Not going to happen in this house. Why everyone think their stuff is gold and they are all trying to get rich on one sale is a very disturbing trend in today's world. Likely a 400% mark up on the bar. Sad time of greed, for sure. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙 P.S: Everyone how about a thumbs up for the Tinman. 2k plus views and only 240 plus thumbs up. Let give our friend some youtube love. Light up the thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Picked up a Tsumura 28” 0.58 last winter for my 372xpg at work, really happy with it overall. Nice balance, decent price, noticeable weight difference/balance between the 28” Husqvarna standard bar. You can get them from a guy on Vancouver island, iirc he’s the guy that brings them into Canada. Cool to see the weight comparison across the group, I’ve been told the Tsumura light will break and not bend like a Stihl or Oregon. So it must be harder steel or temper, which I have noticed on the rails. Very little wear or burr on the Tsumura vs the standard Husqvarna bar.
I think that as you get to longer bars, it's more of the weight distribution. The whole lever thing. Take a framing hammer, hold at the end of the handle the head torques a lot. Choke up next to the head, easier to hold it. I think similar effect on long bars; keeping the saw closer to your body is more ergonomic then hyperextending your arms. Good information, more data is always useful.
That's actually a really useful comparison, thanks Tinman. Always wondered why my tsumara light on my 262 was such a light package, and why the 28 husky light on my 85cc 6400 always feels heavy. Looking for a bar for the new on my channel 064 and she's definitely getting a Stihl light now!
The Powermatch bars are heavy, but are consistent good quality bars with tight groove tolerances. The Chinese bars are sloppy junk, and the Husqvarna bar that I have labeled "farm tough" is just as bad. The Oregon aluminum core bars are light, but are hit and miss as far as groove tolerance goes, and can have some slight misalignment of the sides causing the rails to be uneven in height. The old basic Oregon spot welded bars are decent enough for firewood duties, and the made in Canada Windsor speed tip bars are equal to the Powermatch bars in quality. You also have to figure in the weight of the chain as well, that won't change unless you run narrow kerf, which you don't normally use with the bars for big saws. A log jack can help with the shorter bars, saves your back and keeps the chain out of the dirt.
Definitely like the Oregon aluminum core bars, lightest bar available as far as I've seen from weight comparisons and super cheap too.. such a shame they don't make em any bigger than 24"
I found the tsumura to be susceptible to clogging (rail has very little clearance). The sugihara/husqvarna light is heavier but seems to be easier to use out of the box
I've been threatening to get that Tsumura...and I LOVE the weight....or should I say...the lack there of...but we have mostly Oak where I am..and was wandering how it would hold up bucking. ..I think I'll bite the bullet and get one to try! Thanks for the info!!...by the way...I have ROLLS of Oregon EXL to boot!...plus the fact that I ALWAYS turn my oilers up MAX and modify the oil passages...Thanks again for the info...it has tip me over to try one of these bars....and I KNOW the feeling about getting carried away...after all..it STARTS with a PASSION and what sees it through is the OBSESSION!!
I've been running the Oregon aluminum core bars (24" on the 592 and 20" on the 572) excellent weight savings, cheap, and decently stiff I just wish they made em in sizes bigger than 24"
I know you didn't ask my opinion on Archer chain but I'm very disappointed in how quickly they lose their edge. I can cut twice as much or more with Oregon chain.
Great video tinman I personally like the stock husqvarna and stihl bars they seem to last the longest especially if you maintain them regularly and run sharp chain I just picked up a husky lite 32” for my 394 xp and yes it makes it look like a stud !!🤣👍
David on the MS460 big bore I had the same problem I used a 066 piston and had a pop up cut on it to get the squish I wanted I can’t remember the exact numbers but I think the pop up was 0.035” and the pin to skirt was 0.020” longer I also had to clearance the case just a few thousands to clear the skirt at BDC Hope this helps
The Stihl ES light bars and the Tsumura light bars are my go to in 28" and 32". Many hours of cutting on both makes and a lot of bore cuts with no issues yet.
Very interesting and somewhat surprising comparison! Yep, im that guy that has way more saws than i can use in a day and each has it's own bar&chain. Chainsaws are just a hobby I'm very passionate about. Only cut firewood and help friends and family out. 90+% of anything you run across here can realistically be handled with a 20" bar and 60cc powerhead. I only own 2 28" bars, a stihl pattern holzfforma and an echo labeled oregon powercut, both have treated me well but I've been tempted to get a 32" lightweight to try. Im 6'2" barefoot. Thanks again for sharing!
Interesting video, archer chain I think mid to low quality , I totally agree with using long bar, less likely to violent kicks and less stress on lower back. Tinman good video!
Good info. I find on my 288 s I don't like a lite bar. A regular weight bar balances out better. But on the 575 I like a lite weight 28" bar. It's balanced. Keep in mind I'm 71 years old. Heavy power head, heavy bar. That's what works for me. Later
I had a 59" Stihl bar on an 880. I weighed it on my scale and it was 14lbs with the chain. I don't know how anyone could ever use that saw for very long. It was like holding 2 gallons of milk in an outstretched arm.
When I got my 395 it had a 32" Tsumura and a loop of Archer chain on it, I used it to fell and buck an 8-9" Walnut, the chain needed tensioned 3 times and one of them it actually threw the chain!?, I''ll pass on Archer chain! We volunteered for search and rescue and I took the 395 with a 36" Sugihara bar and a loop of Oregon JGX, it cleared probably 20? 12-18" blowdown Douglas Fir trees out of the roads, it only needed tensioned once, and was cutting very well until I managed to stick it in the gravel?
on the breaker and the rivetting tool Just last week I made my first loops from a reel used the bench grinder and a punch as the chain breaker, and used a ball peen hammer as my riveter it really ain't hard at all
Dunno, how you can compare a tsumura bar or even a sugi to the stihl. Tsumura is a one-piece ground steel with machined bits to lighten it. The stihl is just a laminated bar with an alloy core (I think)😂, I would imagine the stihl is floppy-er. Bit like those oregon power mach bars. They are floppy, and rails aren't uber hard, but I guess they are ok for the price.🤷🏻♂️ I'm pretty sure the Husky x tough light bars are made by tsumura..... edit ok might have been wrong about the stihl es light seems it's a solid bar that's be laser cut out and hollow then welded🤷🏻♂️
@@ryanfriars545 they are?... I've not used one tbf. Was never that impressed with the standard stihl bars about on par the oregon laminated ones. Can say I've ever seen one of them oregon light weight ones with alloy insert here in the uk, best bars I've used is tsumura, sugi's and gb bars are pretty good though not the lightest but pretty strong.
@@Dolmar-Rick I’ve got a pile of new and old bars. I can’t say nothing about the Chinese bars, as I’ve never used one, but the Stihl light bars have to be the weakest I’ve ever seen. So weak you can’t even straighten them back out. They bend if you accidentally drop the saw, and if put any side load on them.
28" sugihara light weight and stihl es lightweight best you can do, i told ya exactly what the holsforma bar back when u got it, what was going to do to the T, theyere junk, i keep a junk chain on it for cuttin stumps or dirty wood and stuff
Hey Tinman! I ran a 25” stihl es light on my 572 and had to run a 85dl chain even though I ground the bar slot as long as I could go. I went to a tsumura 28” so I wouldn’t have to run a custom length chain because I buy loops like you. Do you know what dl chain you would need on a 572 if you wanted to run a 28” stihl es light bar? Thanks.

Those Stihl light bars are junk. Never seen a bar bend so easily. The tsumura are great! Few people and shops over here in BC stock and shop them for a reasonable rate

Not sure if this would fix your problem: Go into your UA-cam account and in “settings” one can turn notifications on or off. Maybe your notifications are set to off. If so, turn them on and see if that helps. Best of luck.

From my experience when you put a stihl bar on a husky you have to add 1 drivelink more than is labeled on the bar
need to get your hands on a cannon duralite... stiff like the oregon powercut but light like the stihl
How is that truck box not beat to death for as much wood as you cut?
Lets help the man out we need more likes fir the amount of views.
Add the weight of chain
I've got a pocket breaker I use
I hate filing stihl chains in the bush.
