The first thing which I found totally wrong (being a classical dance lover) is vidya is wearing the head crown of odissi whereas the dress style is of Bharatnatyam or Kuchipudi 🫤.
The original Bhool Bhulaiya was an amazing psychological thriller and a very good remake to a masterpiece film called Manichitrathazhu. The sequel couldn't care less and made a complete 180 degree turn with the genre and tonality.. psychiatrists were replaced by Tantriks and so on.. The threquel is even more shameless as it thinks the audience is completely foolish and will flock to the theaters just because Vidya is back, Madhuri is in, and budget is high... are they right? Sadly, yes.
i totally agree! i remember watching bhool bhulaiya 2 and not liking it at all because it was only feeding off of the nostalgia of the first movie when it was nowhere near like it, i would’ve appreciated it more if it wasn’t named bhool bhulaiya tbh

There's nothing original in BB3. It's same low effort content in not even new package. They didn't even get the horror element right. Vidya climbing the walk with Maduri looked hilarious and Madhuri couldn't do the contortion. I hope both Sigham and BB flops. They nothing but remake garbage. Low quality maal. But I know the opposite of it will happen. And people say ott has made audience smart. 🙄

Is it just me overthinking, or this songs is a spoiler?? Vidya in Odissi dance/costume, Madhuri in Kathak (Uttar Pradesh), and since Manjulika is Bengali, so these two are NOT MANJULIKA. Tripti can be! (She's already a Bengali witch in Bulbbul) 😭😭
While I agree that Vidya Balan's dance might seem less dynamic than Madhuri Dixit's in this performance, my observation is that comparing it to 'Dola Re' or 'Pinga' doesn't quite do it justice. In 'Ami Je Tomar 3.0,' Madhuri appears to be performing Kathak (a faster dance form), whereas Vidya Balan seems to be doing Odishi (a comparatively slower dance form), creating a difference in movement. If you look closely, the choreography appears to be the same for both, but the contrast between the two dance styles is visible in small details like hand postures, movements, speed etc because of them actually being in different dance forms.
Ami je tomar 3 looked like it was filmed in green screen. It looked faker than 2007 bhool bulaiya which is saying a lot since this time they had an actual budget too.
This. I was confused why Madhuri and Vidya's glances at each other do not match to where their positions are in a few shots. And it also looks fake as everything seems super polished without any nitty gritty that a real set would have. Oh well, Anwol will tell us about it when the movie releases.
I just realized from Ami Je tomar 3.0 editing & camera work is one of the most important aspect of flim making. It can make look good performance look medicore & vice-verca. Currently Vijay Ganguly is absolutely nailing the editing & camera work in bollywood in every single time.
@@TriedRefusedProductionsYou should have mentioned Rani Mukherjee with Shahid Kapoor in Dil Bole Hadippa. She not only matched Shahid Kapoor's energy but surpassed him in certain moments. She is one of the best dancers in bollywood.
The Akshay Salman Face off can never be upped in anyway. They were too funny. I think they had the best time. And I agree that Priyanka is by far an amazing dancer. She was incredible in Pinga and has not been given her due as a smooth dancer as she deserves. I think I will wait for the movie to be released to see the Madhuri Vidhya face off. But You forget that the Madhuri Karishma Face off was favoring Karishma cause her youth and body worked waay better than Madhuri's at that time. You could tell the age and body and Karishma is a very fit person so she gave Madhuri a run for her money in the modern style dance.
As a classical dancer myself, I agree with you - you're on point about the observations about Vidya Balan's dance movements. She's definitely done the best she could vs a legendary graceful dancer as Madhuri Dixit. It was unfair to cast them together in the first place. They've probably been extra airbrushed and edited to look way thinner and younger for the storyline. As dancers, it's hard to not spot moves that look incomplete or compare dancers. Nice video!
I agree, and one thing I feel like no one is addressing is that Vidya's choreography was more semi-classical than Madhuri's. Let's start with her outfit - the Bharatanatyam clothes + Odissi hairdo. It seems like no research was done into what kind of dance form she should be doing. Next, the steps - at least we could say that Madhuri's was Kathak but what was given to Vidya? It felt like the choreographer only knew Kathak but got the task to choreograph Vidya's steps too. Vidya's choreography felt like it was made to match with those of Madhuri's Kathak but make it look like Bharatanatyam/Odissi. It was not only unfair to cast them together but give them choreographies of very different levels of classical elements in them.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa is shamelessly baiting the audience on nostalgia and cheap callbacks to the original film. What is even the purpose to reference the original film when there is no connection whatsoever?? Audiences will again flock to the theaters because 'we' don't care! Moolah is waiting for the director and producer..

U could have also mentioned the Naatu Naatu song as it is also a perfect union of great dancers and choreography plus story. I can watch Rajamouli's breakdown of the song for Vanity Fair all day. On a side note, i find it hilarious u have a beef with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom as I only remember two songs from that movie.
I am in awe how you have explained the nitty gritty comparison of dance techniques which I thought a trained dancer (likes of us) can see, not a non-dancer.. Are you a dancer yourself? I am so impressed...
U know what wud b great, the distinction between Madhuri and Vidya's natural dancing skills becomes the cause of conflict between their characters in movie. Meaning, Madhuri's natural skill of dancing being better than Vidya's is incorporated as a plot such that Madhuri's character dances better than Vidya's character and thus she is more favored courtesan of the king. And so Vidya's character becomes disturbingly jealous of Madhuri's character and does something bad to her
@@somasarker3544 Yeah kind of. But in BB2 it was intrinsic nature of Tabu's character that made the difference, while they weren't courtesans. I'm saying the difference should be in their dancing skills and the ghost should be of historic time!

3:33 Nope. You can still see the weird interaction of Madhuri Dixit's outfit with Vidya Balan. And look at Vidya Balan's legs. They don't match up with the floor.
You are so astute and articulate J! I watched the 3.0 version and felt something was off but couldn't put my finger on it. The VFX overkill has to STOP. Bollywood rarely delivers in horror genre. The original Bhool Bhulaiya was exceptional .Unfortunately, the sequels do not even come close. Apart from the silly VFX, they should stop casting Kartik Aryan. He just does not hold a candle to Akshay's finesse with comic time and a completely contrasting sincerity with which he explains Avni's mental health condition to her husband. P.S.- So glad I clicked on this video because I needed a break from the craziness of US elections
@kelly123sona I dont think its right to compare the acting of Karthik to Akshay in this case since Akshay an achieved psychiatrist in BB1, whereas Karthik is more of an outcast who didn't have anything else better to do. In my opinion karthik fit the role that he was appointed perfectly, and I don't think Akshay would've fit the standards that were required to be met in BB3, and nor do i think that Karthik would've fit BB1 standards (given how young he is and how he is downright too immature for that role). You may say Akshay Kumar's role wasn't entirely mature, as he did deliver amazing comedy scenes in BB1, but those comedy scenes were mature too; at the same time, he was analyzing the behaviours of the people that lived in the house through his deemed idiocy. All in all, I just think its very unfair to compare Akshay and Karthik, because they both performed outstandingly well in their own department. If the roles were switched, both wouldn't be as iconic.
Well technically people who understand dancing know that Madhuri Dixit dances the appropriate amount. As quoted by Late Choreographer Saroj Khan. Aishwarya on the other hand goes a little overboard with her excitement and expressions. Although It takes great strength to match up to Madhuri and Aishwarya is a phenomenal dancer. Her later performances are more refined like Kajrare. In Dola re she was too jumpy and over expressive. Something which amateurs perceive as great dancing.
@@abhishekbhardwaj8398Absolutely correct. Ash was too jumpy with child like excitement and overly expressive. Madhuri expressed her love, fear, devotion with such nuisances; subtle yet powerful. In a jugalbandi, I’m yet to see anyone outshining Madhuri.
Aishwariya is really talented. She had so many talent she gave so much to Bollywood it actually mind blogging . If you consider the greatest trend setters in Bollywood when it comes to fashion and dance the top 3 that comes to your mind is sridevi mumtaz and aishwarya . hema Malini and rekha are basically clones of mumtuz they just copy what she wore how she dance the desi voli girl image they just took from her than came sridevis in the 80sa bit more western desi girl a bit more bold desi girl who can do classical and western dance she completely changed the heroine look the the whole 80s to 90s all the actress copied sridevi may be karisma tried to break the mold but she was never that big of a trendsetter. Lastly came ash she just took it to another lv the fashion and dance and desi girl image went to a global lv and I don't see anybody breaking that right now, still to this day every modern actress directly or indirectly copies her. Just think about her impact is so strong that it's been 20 years and people are still following her
Umm.... i disagree... vidya Balan was so much more. It's a dance off between kathak and bharatnatyam as well. She is dancibg beautifully. The cinematography is poor not the dance.
Everyone talks about the examples he mentioned. I'm blown away by the way he analysed each and every detail. He just changed my perspective of watching dance performances on screen now!!
Any time I hear face-off dance, the only song that comes to my mind is Vyjayanthimala vs Padmini, Kannum Kannum Kalanthu song, from Vanjikottai Valiban movie, Tamil classic.
I agree, it was great for what it is! And I have to admit, the choreography was matched well to the actors, as in it played to their strengths and didn't pose overwhelming challenges to their abilities. It still doesn't explain why the heck they hired those actors for a movie specifically about dancing (Preiti is by far the most competent, and even she is simply not in the category of dancers), but hey, the end result is fun!
WHAT IF.. This whole dance sequence is there in the movie just to show that madhuri's character was better both in looks and dance then vidya's character. Manjhulika vs Manjhulika
Very well said. Actually Madhuri is a trained kathak dancer where as Vidya is not a dancer. The saddest part today in Mumbai Film industry is that neither there are trained classical choreographers nor trained classical dance actors. Earlier mostly actresses were trained classical dancer be it Vyjantimalaji, Padmini Ragini ji Kumkum ji etc etc. Nowadays it's totally chaotic. Thank you for your honest review 🙏
Vidya is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer . That's why she is dancing well in the song . Madhuri is a league apart and it's difficult to match her perfect steps on any song
What would be great: In BB3, they integrate the parity between the dancing capabilities into the narrative and the reason for Vidya's jealousy towards Madhuri, and the looks Vidya gives to Madhuri during the sequence.
Not a face off. But as we are talking about the dance and choreography and the reality of those. Katrina Kaif's dance floor single in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Hrithik Roshan's dance floor bit in Kites. Totally unexpected dance of Aishwarya Rai in Guzaarish. Those are the ones that we rarely see in movies these days.
I don't know if it is cause I do photography or what but I think it bothers me a lot that a lot of the shadows don't make sense. Bits and pieces of the floor, like you said seem green screened and it feels like they did not perform together which is a big down point of the choreography. Some bits could have been done in better ways rather than green screening them in together. The piano/dancing scene from La La Land, spins the camera back and forth between the two actors, it could have easily been done in this case as well instead of putting them together in the same scene post production. Obviously we can't say much from that 1:42 clip but i really HOPE, they try to fix whatever they can before the release just so this beautiful piece looks amazing on the big screen.
Anees Bazmee has no idea how to use the shadows and the poor cgi which is sad, because the DOP Manu Anand is not bad at all, his work on Fan and Zero is outstanding

Jammy - I think you should preface that this is only for 90s and beyond, because talking about dance combos and not including those of Vyjanthimala or Sridevi or Meena Kumari has to be a crime.

I was disspointed when Karan Johar didn't used Madhuri in Kalank in that song which always makes us wanting more than fulfilling dance number. I thought Madhuri was getting old and they didn't wanted to tarnish her image but now I realized they just wanted to protect Alia, no one would have given a single damn about her, if Madhuri had just bit of leg shake and faced off, she just stoles the show with only her expressions!
@@AnkitGupta-u1n to be fare in all positivity the movie should be watched because of vidya losing a lot of weight and looking a lot fitter and healthier and also for karthik putting on weight and size and looking a lot fitter and healthier. For that health and healthy life support bb3 😉👍

Your observation is on point 💯
Most creators already said this before this song that none of these actresses are manjulika it will be tripti dimri it's not a spoiler anymore😂
True
Exactly. Or why they could be hiding her in promotions.
You think Bollywood has a penchant for such detailing?
How could you miss Ae Meri Zohrajabeen from Phir Hera Pheri😂😂😂 Best choreography ever.... Suniel, Akshay & Paresh rocked it👍👍👍
I just realized from Ami Je tomar 3.0 editing & camera work is one of the most important aspect of flim making. It can make look good performance look medicore & vice-verca. Currently Vijay Ganguly is absolutely nailing the editing & camera work in bollywood in every single time.
Vijay Ganguly is indeed one of the best choreographers working in the business currently

I’m sad you didn’t mention ‘Badi Mushkil’ with Madhuri Dixit and Manisha Koirala.
The last few seconds are so bombastic that it left even a wordsmith like Jammy speechless..
Original is manichitrathazhu. Bhool bhulaiya is just it's remake.
@@chandanabose7264 Is the movie called Manichitrathazhu 3 or Bhool Bhulaiya 3? We are talking within the context of the 'franchise'.

And so Vidya's character becomes disturbingly jealous of Madhuri's character and does something bad to her
Hasn't this already been done in BB2 with Taboo? Phew!

Well they got one part of horror right - the kind of trailer they made left me horrified as they butchered our childhood fav film.
@ LOL 😂
If the roles were switched, both wouldn't be as iconic.
made them look younger with airbrush i think because of flashback scene like they did Tabu in BB2 and RK in Animal during school scenes
That's why dola re dola remains ICONIC. Even my mother , masi who witnessed Madhuri's peak confessed that Aishwariya almost outshined Madhuri.
@@abhishekbhardwaj8398 good point totally agree with you 👍
@@abhishekbhardwaj8398Absolutely correct.

Loved your attention to details
Not a face off. But as we are talking about the dance and choreography and the reality of those. Katrina Kaif's dance floor single in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Hrithik Roshan's dance floor bit in Kites. Totally unexpected dance of Aishwarya Rai in Guzaarish. Those are the ones that we rarely see in movies these days.
So articulate this vid is !! Great content 🎉
I wasn't able to put a finger on what's wrong in the dance and here comes Anmol as a dancer to point it out! Well done !
Anees Bazmee has no idea how to use the shadows and the poor cgi which is sad, because the DOP Manu Anand is not bad at all, his work on Fan and Zero is outstanding
