800hp Ferrari 812 Superfast review. 1000-mile road trip to S.France but is it a true GT?
Вставка

- The 800hp Ferrari 812 Superfast is a wild car but is it still a true GT, as claimed by Ferrari? Here I take it on a trip to the South of France, calling in on Mont Ventoux and Chateau Léoube in Provence to see what it's like to like with on a long journey. I've also included some tips on driving in France post lock-down. Link for Tag here; www.emovis-tag.co.uk/subscrip...

In a world of "10 Things I Hate About My Lamborghini Huracan" i'm so thankful to have Harry's Garage to turn to.
Total chaos!! 🤮
@Howard Hamlin "I Just Gold Wrapped My New Bugatti Chiron!!!!"
@Joel Schembri Joel you've probably just expressed what many of us think, lol. Cheers.
Harry and Chris H are our last hope.
@Joel Schembri Well said...
We should probably thank Harry’s wife for getting those drive by shots for us👍👍 She is clearly more patient with Harry’s car habit than my wife😂😂😂
Robert Rishel agreed always quiet during shots too
I can only imagine the reaction I would get if I asked my wife to stand on the side and film me doing a powerslide lol.
Absoluteley, Great lady
He is coming back......?
Mine would tell me to shove a 900 mile road trip in any car! :(
harry - never change the format of these videos. nobody makes old school motoring road trip videos like this anymore; these still have that magic. loved the FF ski trip video, loved seeing the 812 at that cafe. i’ll watch these forever and they remind me of why i love cars. cheers
Next model option :
- Granny Cushion with Carbon Embossed Logo : £ 2795
Polished carbon fiber panels where you will never find them - $14,875.
"That guy's on his phone in his new Ferrari, I wonder what kind of business deal he is working out". Harry: "18.1 divided by.. not bad fuel consumption"
"Darling would you mind standing at the side of the road to record a clip whilst I hammer it around a few bends?"
Harry you're an absolute legend.
Imagine someone passing by, stoping and asking how much... oh dear.
@@PedroTRamos1 it happened to my GF long time ago, while i was parking my motorbike in a garage, in a dodgy area in Lyon haha
@@pierrepye7031 Well you can look at it as a compliment, i guess :D
I think my wife would get me spinning that thing, to be honest
@@Kigoz4Life that whole dynamic really isn’t a big deal when you’ve been married as long as Harry
Just love Harry’s presentations
He is like your friendly neighbor inviting you along for a road adventure
Finally a proper GT car’s review, instead of 0-100km/h times or drag-races, that don’t tell much about how’s driving it... and also thank you for the travel’s tips 👍🏼
Harry's review a class apart. This shows he goes a long way to share his passion for cars not just to make videos for monetary purpose.
i don't think he's that kind of guy that would shill for money...which he already has plenty of it :)
Harry used an actual map. Mass respect , one of if not the best car reviewer.
My thoughts exactly.
The man is a pure joy to watch.
@@sharpelecuochelari agreed... uses the map and calculates the mpg.. classic comments on the use of carbon fibre... and options that annoy me.... brilliant..
Well said
We are all clapping for Mrs M, not once did she tell Harry to “slow down”👏🏾👏🏾 you married well mate!
Hey mate, the mersades pullman would be better for a 1000 mile trip matey lad boyo ,
@@gggg3361 Mersades?
And who are you talking to?
You can`t spell Mercedes, nobody should listen to you, ever?
Also, you think you`re commenting to Harry apparently, which means you`re a MORON, get off the internet..
My Mrs would be direct opposite!
Err, I did notice she was not in the car for most of the fast bits. She maý have preferred to film the flybys than to grip tightly onto the handle. She is an abolute legend for coming on these trips!
@@henryhol8538 She's there during the fast bits too
"Today is going to be a pretty dull day..."
Harry, I'm watching you have that day in my pyjamas. And it's the highlight of my month.
Bit sad...
Hearing that V12 howl it's way up Mount Ventoux is epic. The best road trip yet!!
Harry should write a guide book on touring Europe, share his knowledge in one convenient package.
This! The road trip part was as good as the car review itself
Yes. Yes and more yes.
On the other side somebody should advise him that polo shirts needs changing every day even if they are high street brand 🤣
YALLAH!!!!
"Slightly worrying, because there's probably plenty of space for some shopping" - Brilliant!
These proper roadtrip videos are by far my favourite you make, so nice to see someone actually using these cars rather than the usual awful 10 worst things about my generic new car
4:56 - TBH I wish more GT cars aspired to be like the Citroen SM. Pace, peace, style and comfort without pretending to be a supercar. Although, the 812 sort of has to be supercar-ish, being a new Ferrari.
Harry talks to you like you're sitting in the car with him, which is incredibly difficult to do while driving a mega expensive super-car at the same time. he doesn't 'present' like Clarkson - he just chats, like he's your mate.
And i think thats why almost everyone appreciates his reviews. I can´t think of any motoring journalist who does it better than him.
So true
I have a lot of respect for his humility. He did create EVO and is no slouch behind the wheel, kudos to Mrs. M. also.
His delivery is more like James May e.g. 'folksie' and very pleasant.
Harry is so easy to listen too.
Imagine waking up and getting to drive this car to France.... oh, the life lol
Yes, it's the life for sure. Even though I'm not accustomed to the Ferrari world, I can dream.
One shortcut to That Life or at least a taste of it is to hang around outside Harrods after dark and smile demurely at the Arab Princes and Princelings who collect cars like this as if they were stamps...
My brother in law drove with his friend who owned a California to the Bahrain grand prix from dubai. Said his nuts ached for days after & he had a headache from the noise. His friend went back to the dealer & exchanged it for an Aston DB 9.
I have driven in France...the parking lot has yet to come of age...very narrow roads...lots of police...its no picnic.
@@sajid6027 poor nuts... i lolled way to hard XD
The 812 Superfast and F12 TDF both look so damn good. Some of my favorite looking Ferraris ever.
"These carbon fibre side-skirts cost a crazy £4500" ... "here's me driving down a gravel track". Legend!
Wrap them.
never buy a a press car lol
Neger Ebola Jesus (NEJ!!)
These supercar journey videos are the best.
Love how he switches to an exterior shot when his speed goes into 3 digits
Bravo Harry this ticked every box! A travelogue, putting a marque through it's paces in wonderful scenery, understated commentary and a spot on review. In all, thoroughly watchable. Thank you for a superb vlog! Also a bonus seeing an arm of the Daylesford group.
Harry you kept us all going with some great videos in the lockdown and it’s great to see you out on the road again on another trip, I actually think this one of your best...trust me when I say I know how hard it is to get all 5 lights to come on on the steering wheel in a Ferrari v12, great stuff!
Mrs Harry is either a petrolhead - or a very patient woman. Either way, I'm impressed! :-)
Payrolled
Thanks Mrs M for the great b roll
This is far and away my favourite video yet. Love the channel. You continue to be the most practical and informative automotive UA-camr. Cheers!
I LOVE how raw these videos are! Please don’t stop, you’re a legend Harry!
I really enjoy your road trip videos. Everyone can review cars, but it's refreshing to see how they are in the real world, with loads of luggage and varying road conditions.
35:20
Strange times we live in when a road car (although a superior one) sounds exponetially better than a F1 car..
While I do agree (this car sounds SO good, its brutal), the F1 cars sound a lot better in real life. Nowhere near as good as the V8’s, V10’s or V12’s (and also not nearly as screamy and loud) but they do sound nice in real life. They have a signature smoothness to them, with the whistle of the turbo somehow coming through the engine noise remarkably well.
Your neighbours wouldn't need alarm clocks. A truly thunderous exhaust note.
Today's F1 cars are droning turbo V6 trash. They can do all they want to nake them sound better but they'll just never be like the engines from last decade.
It's proof that sound doesn't make you go fast.
@@olivierl2172 It does add to the excitement though
Thank you so much Harry. One of the nicest car video's I have ever seen.
You've played a very substantial role in my car-loving life since I was young. I've been an EVO reader and subscriber (not in recent years though) since the first issue and a Performance Car reader before that. Harry keeps bringing good stuff.
Combination of car review and travel log is so well put together and brilliantly done.
The star of the show is Harry’s lockdown belly!!
Beautiful car!! Imagine if Ferrari offered a travel cushion option!!
It’d be alcantara and cashmere with angel hair stitching for £11,000!!
Lovely, I felt part of a different world for 35 mins thanks to Harry.
Thank you Harry (& the Mrs) for a delightful journey. The cacophony of the V12 climbing Ventoux...just wow!
Good word - cacophony 👍😄
Thank heavens you guys have been able to open up and do some driving. It is always a pleasure to see a car of this level, zooming along on those wonderful European roads. The perfect GT getaway! May you have many many more and continue to entertain and help us get a line of sight into such gorgeous cars. And may I say, BY GAD what a SOUND!
Great review Harry, compliments to Mrs M for her camerawork
Mrs Harry was hanging on for dear life on that mountain 😂
I watch this over and over Harry, its just the best review ever, as far as i am concerned. You add that magic dust to a review. That V12 sound at high revs is a symphony. Please continue with these roadtrip reviews ‘ nobody does it better’ Mr M.
I do wish that Harry could comprehend that there is no such thing as 'to long a video' as far as his content is concerned. :) If that is a concern, make it longer and make it a two parter etc. :)
Thoroughly enjoyed that Harry - loving your work! Oh, and what a car!! Sounds glorious but at £350K.....hmm....
It's a 250k car but Ferrari's options are just ridiculously expensive. They charge something like £800 for embroided headrests....that's £800 for a bit of cotton thread!!!!
Sum Ting Wong And £1400 for the seat lifter 💸...
I read this in your voice... Cheerio!
They charge for apple kit which they don't manufacture several thousands.
Overly expensive? Hmm... I'd probably choose this over a lot of more expensive supercars.. even if money was no object.
These travelogues are my fave HG vids and the South of France is just lush
Harry, legend of our time.
These types of videos are so good, I can't wait for another Harry's review. So much insight and proper use of vocabulary. Hope you get to 1m subscribers soon !
Fantastic video Harry, the sound in that last shot is amazing. Appreciate you going through the car in such detail and Mrs M for getting those epic shots. Oddly just as excited to learn about some viticulture over on Harry's farm
You can tell Harry is happy to travel again 😆
I'm glad you said that about carbon fibre...it's the modern fools gold. Usual brilliant review, thanks.
I'm amazed at how long carbon fiber has remained a fashion trend and 20 years from now restoration shops will hate those trims.
@@truantray I agree with the optional trims being excessive, however a weight saving material that is widely adopted by all modern racing to improve performance is not a fashion trend.
Haydrean It's a sport car, not a F1 or a LMP1 car, some kgs saving with those parts don't change anything
@@Adlore saving a handful of kg’s of lbs doesn’t matter for a road car. You aren’t in qualifying
This sort of videos make my day. I’m always waiting to see a Harry trip.
Amazing car and experience. Thank you so much.
Mrs M is a true star of the show for me. What a diamond 💎
Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure. Mrs M, Harry & Ferrari 🤯
Can't wait to watch this when i get home. I have always loved the roadtrip vids.. especially the one with the enzo!
Especially the first take (which he later replaced with a shorter edit) of where he tried to max the car in France...
@@Vonstroke yes! Great footage
my favorite has to be the Lotus Esprit :)
Really love This kind of vidéo with hôtel top tip and other things... I felt I was with you on the left seat. 😉
💓 Thank You Harry and Madame Harry. 💖
Just love the authenticity of Harry, says it how it is and doesnt give the normal journalistic bs and nitpicking. Tells it from a consumer point of view which is always important. Great job man!
Those drive by shots with awesome sound going into the distance were brilliant, hats off to the Mrs. 😎😘👍🏻
It’s Friday. I’ve taken the day off. Having my coffee while watching a new HG
I can't believe how much better Harry's garage is than any other UA-cam car channel. Fantastic content Harry, thanks!
The camera work and the driving footage inside and outside of the car are brilliant. Quality content for sure.
Every video Harry uploads is just superb :). A real gentleman with no attitude or arrogance, extremely knowledgeable as well and he seems like an all round great bloke!
Harry, one thing that really has been resolved after Michelin released the MPS4S tyre for the 812, is the tramlining and business have been taken care of. It's still fast and precise, just better. Unfortunately the press cars still come with PZ4. But also, yes your UK roads are not very good for comfort.
When considering the gearing and nature of the engine, while it is a front engined V12, you have to remember that officially this does not sit in Ferraris lineup of GT cars anymore, but it is actually classed as a sportscar along with the 488 and F8 etc.
Had the same experience as you with the brakes, but found that a proper bedding in fixed it.
The seat lifter has become standard with the racing seats. You can ask the dealer to set the passenger seat higher if ones ladyfriend or child cannot see out. But for males of average height, the low setting is nice - and a must when wearing a helmet. Interestingly enough, I find that I'm more comfortable in the racing seats than the full electric comfort seats. I think the passenger display is a bit silly, but at the same time it just adds something fun. Fun is what it is about, it's not a serious car. I actually think the 812 is the single most playful Ferrari I have driven in decades, it's so eager and happy.
I absolutely adore the 812.
Nice extra detail and I hadn't thought about space for a racing helmet - for those tracking their 812s.
@@atastefortheroad4475 Well some of us do track our cars and the room for at helmet is needed. Even when tracking the Pista Spider or 488 the side window comes awfully close. Sorry i'm going o keep this short, party and wine.
The seat lifter is just stupidity, think of left hand drive.
@@mocabrera What do you mean by that? There's a lifter in LHD cars too.
@@mocabrera You're not too bright are you?
Amazing trip again. I'm totally refreshed after having another holiday with Harry and Mrs M. Thanks again for taking time out to do this for us. Stay safe.
Great camerawork Mrs. M!! 👍🏻 Thank you for taking us with you Harry!
Love the quality and honesty in your videos, other people just sugarcoat stuff...
Honesty? There's one BIG issue with this video that he completely glances over.
He says it's a Ferrari GT. However, within Ferrari, it sits within their line of sports cars. It is a fairly lively and fun car. I'd say in some ways, an F8 is a more comfy GT than an 812 Superfast.
This sounds absolutely immense. It has that 90's F1 sound going up the pass.
That V12 does sound sweet, especially on the down-shift.
Fantastic sounding engine
Thanks Harry , you are a National Treasure . You are getting me through a very difficult period in my life. Heres to more of your ace trips. Superb footage and incredible knowledge.
The good day's will come my friend, keep on pushin'.
Beautiful video, Harry. Living vicariously through your iconic story telling and videography. You're an icon and international treasure. Keep them coming, sir!
Awesome car, Thanks for pulling the trigger Harry!!!😎😉👉❤️
Giulia QV as a daily, G63 for the family, GT3 for the track, and the 812 for the weekend.
I'm comfortable with that
Needs more S65 Cabriolet
@Howard Hamlin Miata or bust.
@Howard Hamlin Parked outside your nail salon.
Why would you want the car that is less reliable than a mclaren as your daily?
Harry Metcalfe - true English gentleman. 😎👌
I have to say this filming is outstanding!!!! Just wonderful shots, very professional.
I'm really a big fan of Harry's slow tv. Lover his clear technical but also practical explanations. His bumbling driving style and prepared trips make it a bit frumpy and funny to watch. But most of all, he knows what enjoyment is with the right sense of taste. Hope to see more and more, thank you so far Harry.
Your biggest Dutch fan.
Harry + exotic supercar + real road trip = Best YT experience!
This is the best video I've seen of Harry's so far, and I've seen them all. The car is absolutely stunning and so is the scenery and driving roads. Enjoyed that a lot ❤❤
These road trip videos are fantastic! I really look forward to these, seriously impressive to keep the attention of a 20 year old for nearly 40 minutes! I can't wait for more.
Great video and really like the added pieces on the trip in general. Excellent detail on the car, pro’s and con’s.
The height adjustment is more expensive than my whole car.
The price of those options is absolutely ridiculous , but i guess that comes with the territory
Bob Houghton 😂😂😂
How tall is this guy?
I was really looking forward to this one as you were travelling to an area I want to a long time ago. I really enjoyed watching the video and was pleased to see you stayed at the Bailli de Suffen where is did my summer work experience in 1988
Brother I really enjoyed this video! Well done old chap! I especially love your wonderful British sense of humor and blunt honesty about the car's plusses and minuses. WOW the sound of that engine's amazing!
I love that you get road trip advice with this channel as well! 👍
This was a terrific review Harry, I really enjoy your coverage of the Italian cars. You had your Persol glasses on, which is completely appropriate for such a drive! ha ha Well done!
Whoooop! When I read a title on youtube I'm like 'eh', then I see its a Harrys Garage vid, YEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!

That is what a-holes do.
this is epic content. Thanks Harry for living the dream and showing us. Peace, love and light to you and yours.
Harry you're amazing!!! Great reviews and excellent videos! keep up the good work!!! Cheers from Portugal! 🇵🇹
The black wheels spoil it for me. Nice plugging for Harry's Farm.
Thank you Harry, great impressions, anyhow, happy to have my AM DB11, a real GT!
Phenomenal review, thank you for taking us along!
The only channel I hit the like button after each video. Another great video and thank you for that Harry!
I know the Mont Ventoux because i live not far from it. A lot of manufacturer makes road test in it. BMW, Jaguar, Opel and other come to test their cars especially for the brakes and the hot temperature resistance. I saw a lot of prototype there (Renault Safrane bi turbo for exemple and more recently BMW 7 serie) What's a road....
Excuse my bad english. And long life to Harry's garage.
I remember seeing two Minis in camouflage livery descending in quite a hurry from Malaucène a few years ago. Also came across a camouflaged Panamera once which seemed odd since the car had been on the market for a few years already at the time.
Thanks Harry, I feel like I’ve been on holidays. Cars and travel, it doesn’t get any better. I also love the Harry’s farm channel, who would have thought.
Rewatch this video now I think the fourth time... This is one of the best videos on UA-cam. Just fantastic! Thank you Sir!
Dear Harry, that was spectacular, the best drive ive seen you do yet, what a car with what a sound , thank you
That was great to watch, and fantastic to see Mt Ventoux again. Back in 2006 I went, with a group of motorbike friends, to Vaison la Romaine on my Honda Fireblade; we rode Ventoux a number of times over the course of the week, and it was amazing. I'm going to plan a slightly slower trip back with my wife in our XC60 (slightly more comfy than the 'blade). Thanks for the video:
Honda & Volvo are still better quality & reliability than anything Italian!
"Why can't we have roads like this in the UK?"... Harry, time to relocate to France? ;-)
Thanks for the great content, quite enjoyable. The road trip adds a lot to the car review.
I don't think Harry would want to pay all the French taxes nor farm in France. Death taxes are punitive in France.
It's a lot better in terms of what it's like to live with a car than just a roadtest!
@@alexmorgan3435 Just came to say, he didn't get rich pissing his money away. High COL places are best as vacation locations.
Plenty of good roads in the UK but we are just overpopulated....France keep sending us rubber dinghies full of people!!

Another great video, Harry. All the joy of the south of France with none of the hassle. Thanks.
Packed a lot into this one and very nicely done. The stunning scenery was fantastic. Well done Mrs M behind the camera.
The only modern Ferrari I car about. The sweet sounding V12 alone is enough for excellence. Love the 812 SF. As always, I really enjoyed watching this. Great work Harry.
harry, I love your honest reporting, especially about the brakes. I am always amazed that most cars have something equally silly about them. Oh well, a red sports car with soft brakes and 800 HP sounds fun.
Great work on the camera as usual Trish. Lovely that you enjoy car trips together. 👍
Another brilliant video and trip. Toll Tags are a godsend. I've had one for years its great
