@@trudownsouth8490 Congratulations on one of the, unfortunately few, truly well specced ( and therefore special) 812's I've seen. Even on video. Mine is in Blu Pozzi w/a mostly blu and cuoio leather and alcantara interior with most of the carbon as yours (ridding the inside of silver plastic) done in Blu fiber. The exterior carbon is standard. It, for sure is very expensive - the sills, painted the color of the exterior, alone had me slowly shaking my head. Yet, options like the airbrushed shields, really do set the car apart and after considering the base price I didn't want to feel a pang of regret every time I opened the hood and looked at the plastic engine covers. I had them done in blu carbon with the front piece signed by the line assemblers in silver then sealed. I've tried to paint a picture of what's possible (without going "tailor made"). If you're in the market for one of these cars or a similar one, go for it and don't hold back. You won't regret it, but you may if you do! Plus, a well specced sports car is the one everyone wants. Especially the "investors"!

The F12’s is a classic, timeless design. I’m partial to the TDF, and the styling cues of the SP America were carried over from the newer models of that time. The 812 is the sleek, cool younger brother that blends in with the rest of the lineup rather than stands out. They’re both fantastic, but for me, the F12 will always be truer to the Ferrari heritage.

The worst thing about the 812 super fast is it’s name. I think F14 would have been excellent, like the jet fighter.

    • @AntoniusTyas
      @AntoniusTyas 2 роки тому +3

@@spendor9377 812 Superfast actually stood for 800PS, V12, and the nod to old Ferrari 500 Superfast as well as the one-off P540 Superfast Aperta. So there is a historic and technical precedence to the way Ferrari picked the name for their cars.
It's just that they are very inconsistent with the naming convention.

The 812 looks like a classic without being old, it's curvaceous and sculpted and bold without resorting to huge black portions (not more than the F12)
Actually the F12 is the one that looks angrier despite being a cleaner design. The only thing I like more of the F12 is the rear being flat, while on the 812 it's not unlike what the design suggests

I'd probably opt for the 812, based purely on the fact that it has gold wheels, which always reminds me of the early 1970s F1 Ferraris driven by legendary drivers like Chris Amon and Jacky Ickx; not a great reason, I grant you, but on looks alone there isn't much to choose.

Great video! You share a lot of my sentiments and personally speaking, and I chose the 812 SF over the F12. I stepped into a Ferrari dealership in late 2020 looking at F12's looking to upgrade from the 911 GT3. Seeing the 812 in person solidified the fact that I much prefer the 812's looks over the F12. All the small updates that aren't that big on their own actually add up to a bigger difference overall, and so I walked out of the dealership telling myself that I'd rather save up a bit more for an 812 rather than settling for an F12. Better exhaust tone/engine sounds, more updated interior controls/looks, higher quality instrument binnacle, Apple CarPlay support, etc. All make it worth waiting a bit more for the 812 than settling for an F12 since I suspect it'll be a car that's in my garage forever.

@@Xolition I made money on the GT3 and have other means of income, so I have no regrets. Car purchases are never investment opportunities for me so I never look at them as a tool to make money. I buy what I like driving and sell when I'm done with the car or the car no longer suits my needs as the GT3 did. I had a baby so it was time to get a family car again, so I said goodbye to the GT3. The 812 will be a great present to myself when it's time.

I would still get the GTS. The option to roll down the back window and hear that V12 all the time even when it's not good weather is amazing. Not to mention the roof down whenever possible. It's no contest to me! If it were a track focused lightweight mid engine Ferrari It would be another story! As a road car, if it doesn't look bad with the roof up like in this case there is no good reason to not get the convertible since chassis got so good on them in recent years!

I don't think too many 12 year olds would be cross shopping F12 and 812 mate. F12 design is nice in the front but the rear design is not great. 812 looks more cohesive overall. Plus the pre-GPF (gas particulate filter) 812 sounds glorious and has a much better engine than F12. As Enzo said, you're buying the engine and the rest he throws in for free. If your budget allows, get the early gen 812. The question is whether you get both 812 SF and GTS..

Most of the public has no clue about where the engine of the car is---front or rear. What they react to is the overall shape and impression. The mid-engine supercars affect the public based on looks only and typically that type of Ferrari appears in movies or on tv and the public forms their opinion that way. Front engined Ferraris are typically never in tv shows or in movies so when the public sees one they are fascinated as it looks like a Corvette to them.

I think you hit the nail on the head regarding Ferrari love/hate attitudes.
I notice a very different attitude to me when I'm driving my company 21 plate BWM 330eX (people hate me) and my 2005 Jaguar XK8 (smiles and goodwill all-round).
    Humans, eh?

I'd like either one...At least I get compliments with my Corvette. And for what ever reason, my old IROC-Z28 produced lots of negative sentiment. Like having a lit cigarette tossed at it. Even people yelling at me fist in the air. I could never really figure out why. I'm thinking the new C8 is a lot more aggressive looking and may illicit similar responses of hate as it's rather ostentatious looking. Where driving an older model is 'cool.' But, that being said, I'd take either Ferrari. They're both amazing cars.

Great video, per usual. You mentioned that you don't think all Ferraris look good in red. I'm curious if there's any recent models you have in mind, say from the 360 onward?

Hi James, I prefer the Pininfarina era so it’s the F12 for me.

F12 hands down, the front, and especially the rear where the body swoops down umtos the F1 light.

How you managed to avoid using the F word as an adjective when describing that car after hearing its glorious V12 is beyond me - I salute you!

Just a picky comment, those carbon fiber paddles were not spec from factory, they are from the Ferrari genuine accessories list, that is why they have the slot in them.

Great video I am sticking with my F12 although I do prefer the rear of the 812. Hope they have cured the corrosion problem.

Both are lovely, but I do think the 812 edges the f12 for drama. Nice vid!

Jay, that’s the question F12 or 812? It could be like looking at a new Wide screen TV. At first you see it’s a little better then look at the old one, and you see the difference. When you get back in the F12 I am sure your see the difference? For me, the 812 with those Daytona rear lights and slightly more aggressive styling is one of the nicest looking Ferraris for many years. Potentially I’ll be looking for a 599 and later a 812, fingers crossed. Great video

The Ferrari Purosangue also has an N/A V12, that car will probably be the last production Ferrari that features a N/A V12 engine.

I like the styling of the F12 better. Just the stance with the side silhouette and the rear looks amazing with the body diffusing into the undercarriage

I also feel conflicted with the f12 and 812's front end in that i'd probably prefer the f12 in blue or the 812 in british green especially with those wheels fitted given the chance.

Talking about the connection with public (and admittedly talking about very different metal to you):
On the same day I drove 2 cars through Attleborough in Norfolk for their MOT's on a cold January morning.
A Triumph Stag - everyone seemed to celebrate the fact it existed - and on 2 occasions I got waved out of junctions.
A 911 - people seemed wary - what had you done to be driving that thing.
I think I'd get the exact same 911 reaction from people if I drove through the same village in my Ford Focus whilst drinking a can of larger (which doesn't mean you're breaking the law).
