I have a new hybrid xs440 I had built a couple years ago and I have my favorite “old trusty”xs440r I had rebuilt I usually fall with. 440 is definitely my favorite saw but I’m a fan of all 1128 saws except the 441.
I'd be happy as hell if that was my firewood saw! The angle grinder thing we'll that's all I've got and it works! Beautiful work as always and very glad I found your channel! I've got a buddy with 044 and it's got a tiny bit of piston slap noise and he's smart enough to stop running it when he noticed the noise! I'm going to do exactly what you did to that 44 with same tool! Oh and go with same piston! Thanks for the info!
@@richardflagg3084 that is a fact! I run the 61 266 268 Huskys way back in the day and had a ton of parts and cylinders to practice on and actually got pretty good! I should still be able to do it at least I hope so!
Hey Rich, why do stihl list different piston ring sizes and pistons for saws, noticed they lists two for the 025. Different revisions maybe? Sorry if a dumb question I don't work on stihl's a lot.😂
The short answer is that saw has been made for many years. When I look it up on Stihl's parts site it shows a 42mm and a 42.5mm piston available. Only one cylinder tho (42.5mm) . Lol! Maybe the 42mm has been discontinued. The current MS250 calls for a 42.5mm. Hope that helps.
Excellent torque! At one point the bar was buried and didn't phase it. Nice job!
Really enjoyong this latest batch of videos!
Thanks!

Thanks Gordy! I just bought a huge box of slant fin 044 parts. Think I'll sell two and keep one. They all need a ton of work tho.

So much harder to control the die grinder than a Foredom with a foot pedal. It's not for the faint of heart. 😎

Nice job Rich. Good save on a great saw.
Got a box full of 044 slant fins to unbox in the morning. I'm pretty exited. 044's are really nice saws for a lot of reasons.
@@richardflagg3084 Wow!!! Cool.
