    I once took a chance on a really filthy MS361 that was going to be a project for $150 shipped. I was fully planning on a rebuild project,so first thing I did was pull muffler and saw a beautiful piston,then checked compression and it was 150lbs...It had been marked "not working" 7 years prior,so what was the problem? The decompression valve was pushed in!

      Even the sun shines on a dogs ass every once and a while. I've had my share of duds. It's always a crap shoot, but I think I'll do ok with this one.

      What’s your take on splitting it an re powdering the cases? Straight flip makes more money than full rebuild and woods port?

    • @richardflagg3084
      @richardflagg3084  Рік тому

      @@mrxlh Honestly people are paying silly money for pro saws in non-working condition. It almost makes more sense to sell a project saw in a box than doing a proper restoration. Look at some closed listings on ebay and there's not that much difference in $$ for a running saw than one that needs a rebuild and missing parts. I have no idea where this line of thinking comes from.

      Aside from the paint loss, it seems to be pretty a pretty low hour unit.

    I’ve been burnt by people that knew what they were selling. A ms362 that the crank had blown a hole in between the oil tank inside the case, an ms460 “running” with bad bearings would not run. I rebuilt them I am also very avid about writing Honest Chainsaw Seller to keep thieves knowingly taking advantage of folks. Nice vid very good purchase😊

    I bought an early white plastic 020av i was going to steal the coil from for parts for $100. It was crazy dirty but after looking it over and cleaning it up all it needed was an impulse and fuel line I was amazed how nice condition it was. Filled it up with gas and oil and it runs perfect now i use it all the time. It usually starts first or second pull.

    You will like the 440. Mine is one of my favorite saws. I built it in 2019. Lugging around, I like my ms 360 but for pure power the 440 is hard to beat.

    Pull the starter off and clean up the flywheel side and then clean and lube the PTO side. I then replace the fuel line, filter and pressure test the tank and vent. It looks pretty good, about like what I see from EBay. My 025, which I bought recently, was in similar condition, albeit without the missing paint.

    I use to purchase saws on Fee Pay to refurbish, and sell for cost. I didn't refurbish the saws to make money on. I only expected to only break even. I got sick of people offering me way less than what I had in parts. One person attempted to get me to sell them a complete running saw for less than what I paid for the bar, and chain. I will happily buy a nice antique saw to work on for myself.

      I have bought a couple Florida saws and it seems like they cut something that causes corrosion around the chain area, sometimes bad pitting in older saws. I thought maybe it was from salt water? Palm trees?
