    Hi! Thank you so much for your hard work and clear information that the DJI Mic2 might not fit for Bluetooth.
    I just screamed out loud in my chest that I bought only the Mic2 transmitter a day before I saw your video.
    It would be interesting to see you show us about the 24-bit internal recording capabilities of the Mic2 standalone without any Receiver and how to make the best out of it.
    As far as I’ve watched various explanations about the Mic2 on UA-cam, you are the clearest person to explain everything step by step with understandable language for me. Plus, no one else explains Mic2 the way you do.
    Again, thank you for your hard work. I can see that you are coming back to UA-cam after several years of retirement from making videos. From now on, you will be my inspiration to start having fun making videos again. Cheers!

      Hi :) And thanks for watching :) Using the Mic 2 internal recording in 24bit is actually quite easy, just push the record button and transfer the file(s) afterwards by connecting it to your computer with the supplied cable or a cable you already have. The you can increase the volume in the video editor you are using. For best results look into the compressor plugin to lower the loudest sounds and increasing volume on the quietest parts, all video editing software has built in compressors that will do quite a good job :) Also look into EQ to boost volume for the higher frequencies like i do in the video - these settings arr very dependent on how your voice sounds, so you need to experiment a little - if you search youtube for compressor an eq and the name of the software you edit with there should be many videos explaining things a bit more detailed than I did here :)

      @@oppenheimer11 It does, but if you buy just the mic/transmitter you can’t turn 32-bit recording *on*, it’s off by default. It has to be turned on with either the receiver or pocket 3 or action 4.
      Also: internal recording is disabled if you connect the mic 2 directly to a smartphone via bluetooth, and the audio quality via bluetooth is not very good, so if one buys just the mic to use only internal recording one is stuck with 24-bit (which for most purposes will be just fine) unless one borrows a receiver or other device to switch to 32-bit :)

      The DJI Mic 2 is an exceptional choice for Bluetooth connectivity, thanks to DJI’s versatile ecosystem of products.Stepping back to compare it with other wireless microphone brands, it's clear that DJI has taken the lead in Bluetooth technology, offering superior performance and reliability.

      @@MarkLeonard-ez2vz The audio quality of the Dji Mic 2 when connected to an iPhone is bordlerline unusable due to the low quality codec used. For their own ecosystem it works quite well if one has the pocket 3 and/or action 4.
      Unfortunately it doesn’t help those of us who thought it would be possible to get good audio using only the transmitter/mic with an iPhone based on their marketing of the smartphone connectivity. Which is unfortunate since Dji in their initial marketing pushed this feature through influencers who didn’t even test the feature, and failed to highlight the fact that internal recording is disabled when connecting to iphones, resulting in low quality audio and no backup audio to sync in post processing, leaving us to use the mic standalone for internal recording and sync to phone audio, which is not always an option.

      Hi there and sorry for the late reply to this comment, I'm working on a couple of videos explaining my process and the step by step settings but as I'm doing this only in my spare time things unfortunately do take some time :/ I did make a new video about 3 things you can do to improve the audio *before* you hit record, about 2 months ago, it lessens the need for doing too much in editing with EQ etc.
      One of the most important being placement of the mic and how much it affects the high end/low end of the audio recording, so that is worth checking out :)
      Another thing that happened is that DJI updated the mic 2, brightening the sound somewhat right out of the box, which is also good.
      One thing I would recommend is reading the instructions thoroughly on how to turn off and on the low cut filter on the mic itself (this can be set to "on" to eliminate bassy muffled sound) - by setting it to "on" it cuts those low frequencies, as well as the noise cancellation (set it to off).
      Other than that fooling around with the settings will not change much to the better, since the *most* important part of getting better results is placement. So watch the latest video I did on that, it's nr. 3 backwards from my most recent video, and do the experiment yourself. Move the mic around, record a segment, move it, record a segment, and repeat - and put the video in a timeline and listen to where you get the best results. If the audio signal i slow go into the settings on the receiver and set gain to +6 and do it again, if the audio now is too hot dial it back to +3.
      Experimentation is the key to finding what works best for you and your voice, so set aside time to *just* experiment, don't do it as part of making a real video, just focus on testing the mic on several places close to your throat, on your chest, close to your belly, holding it etc :)
      IF you have been changing a lot of settings and aren't sure exactly what you've done take a look at the instructions to see how you can reset the mic and receiver, that will give you a good baseline for testing the mic "as is" and make your changes to the settings in a controlled manner.
      And like I said, I *will* make a step by step "taking it out of the box and what does it sound like" type video and build on that basis to hopefully improve the audio along the way, but that video is some weeks away yet I'm afraid (waiting for the dji mic 2 lav to include it also as an option for maybe even clearer audio :) Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, hopefully these tips helps a bit, and you'll stick around for the next dji mic video as well :)

    Low cut filter is on by default which makes it sound muffled. Needs to be turned off

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  6 місяців тому +3

      A low cut filter that is *on* cuts away the low bass frequencies, so turning it off doesn’t help with the muffled sound, it then just records more bass frequencies, I’ve tried both on and off and it sounds different, but still muffled - the problem is the mic membrane doesn’t pick up enough off the higher frequencies when used with a slightly bassy voice when mic is mounted to the chest as DJI is doing in their example images, so the higher frequencies need to be boosted in post using EQ. I’m working on the follow up to this video now, so audio examples will be included of all of these scenarios, with and without the low cut/high pass-filter used in the mic, as well as without and with EQ adjustments :)

      @@AndreSjobergon all the mic i have had, the low cut filter MUST be switch off as it remove also some part of the frequencies of the voice and create distortion. NC should be avoided as well except if it use AI like the ENC hollyland. Anyway you get better result with Davinci Resolve. No MC no Low cut filter and EQ and compressor is the basic of audio. If people don’t want to do that, they can do other things than video or learn audio. I am tored to hear the same complaints.

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  5 місяців тому

      @@CC-gt3ro You are correct from a theoretical perspective, however on the DJI Mic 2 from the tests I've made, depending on placement, the low cut filter doesn't alter the audio significantly, and it does *not* cut out the presence frequencies of *my* voice - results for other voices might differ. Results and captured frequencies may differ based on placement (at the neckline, further down on the shirt, holding it in front of your mouth etc).
      Placing the mic at the neckline of my t-shirt, and recording with the low cut on and off there is a *slight* difference in clarity, but the low cut *on* does *not* cut away the significant presence frequencies of my voice in that particular scenario, but my voice do sound a bit muffled (which can easily be fixed by notching away at a couple of frequencies.
      So in a pinch, if the audio is to be used on f.ex a short or a reel, where one doesn't have access to davinci resolve or similar software with proper eq and compression the low cut filter in the transmitter *can* be used for a little bit more clarity out of the box.
      It does *not* however distort the audio (unless your gain settings are *way* to high, which is a totally different problem of course).
      That being said, taking the time to learn properly how to use the tools to shape sound is always a plus, and yes, too many people think they will or should get perfect audio out of the box, which very seldom is the case. Not using the built in Noise Cancellation is of course great advice as it seldom is good, and mostly is terrible :)

  • @davidmoltrup51
    @davidmoltrup51 8 місяців тому +8

    I'm curious as to whether you turned Low-Cut OFF on your transmitter. You get much better audio by adjusting that one setting, and it is often overlooked.
    Edit: Replaced Low-Pass with Low-Cut

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  8 місяців тому +1

      First thing I checked - as I remember the low cut filter is off by default, but the noise cancellation is on by default :) Also, it’s a low-cut filter, not low-pass :) Or High-Pass filter if you prefer :)
      You don’t necessarily get *better* audio by turning the low cut filter off, but you get more bass frequencies, which, if the audio across the whole spectrum was more evenly balanced, could be a good thing.
      Actually turning the low cut filter «on», so it cuts out the lower frequencies, has made my recordings sound slightly better/less muffled out of the box without having to use as much EQ - in general you don’t need much bass on voices, especially if doing music underneath the talking, or want to sound like an american radio host ;)
      Planning a follow-up video with all the settings tested and audio examples using my voice as a reference so stay tuned for that in the coming weeks :)

      @@AndreSjobergwrong. I have got several mic in the last 30 years and a bassy voice, and low cut filter must be avoided at all cost. It removes sone bass frequencies but also some part of typical voice frequencies in between and distort the sound. It is too basic algorithms. NC are very bad as well except if it uses AI like the Hollyland Lark Max ENC technology which is the best i heard until now (embedded in a mic) probably all next gen will be better but the NC on dji must be switch off, as well as low cut filter. And yes EQ and compressor are part of audio life from the beginning of time. My keyboard have it, all video software have it. People must stop being stupid and learn a bit.

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  5 місяців тому

      @@CC-gt3ro Nope, not wrong, but very dependent on circumstances.
      Yes, in general, a recording with as much data as possible is preferable, but in the case of the DJI mic 2 the low cut filter isn't cutting away *lots* of data, and it leaves enough frequencies in the "presence" frequencies to not loose the "main body" of my voice.
      So in practical use, in the dji mic 2, the low cut filter can be used in a pinch if one isn't making a "high quality audio"-video to get a little bit more clarity in the voice, especially if the video is to be used on a short or a reel that won't be edited in a NLE like Davinci.
      Also, in my testing, the low cut-filter on the DJI Mic 2 does *not distort* the audio, it only cuts out some of the lower frequencies - but it doesn't distort anything - that sounds more like a level problem than anything else, either because the gain is set to high, or the volume being recorded hit's the limit of the membrane and distorts that way - but there is no distortion in my recordings neither with or without the low cut filter.
      Noise Cancellation (NC) is of course not good enough yet, and should be avoided at all costs - I see that my original comment was a bit unclear, as I did *not* have noise cancellation on when testing, but it is on by default when the mic unit is brand new (i think) - but that's easily checked before recording and it can be turned off by using the button as described in the manual.
      In my testing though, the NC was turned off, and the low cut feature was turned off, but I did also test with the low cut filter on - and in both scenarios my voice was a bit more muffled, partly because of the placement of the mic, but also because the dji mic 2, compared to the rode wireless pro, seems to capture less higher frequencies out of the box, or might capture more lower frequencies relative to higher frequencies. Now this *could* be because the Røde wireless pro's have a high frequency boost applied to the recordings to make them sound brighter, or it could be they are using a better capsule to capture audio, of that I do not know - but from the examples and tests I've heard of untreated audio from both devices the Wireless Pro sound brighter and more "usable" out of the box compared to the dji mic 2's when mounted to the chest.
      As for learning EQ and Compression, I totally agree, it's something that *everybody* doing video should learn to a certain degree, at the same time I do know it's hard to learn properly since just using a headset or laptop speakers makes it hard sometimes to learn it properly, and buying proper monitor speakers can be pretty expensive, even the cheaper ones cost a pretty penny - and the concepts of audio treatment is not always simple to understand, the difference between cutting an boosting frequencies vs compressing loud audio to bring up quiet audio and multiband compressors and what not - so it's understandable that people focus on the visual first - but expecting that audio should sound great out of the box on a small mic costing 100 dollars is just wishfull thinking - so that's why I'm making these videos to put some focus on why one should learn, and that it's not *that* hard as long as one takes a little time to understand the basics :)

    what about the internal recoding quality without using receiver?

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  8 місяців тому +3

      That is a really good question :)
      The internal recordings are 24bit out of the box, and can be set to 32bit float only if you have the receiver. The quality is about the same as you get from the audio that is being sent to the receiver that’s being recorded together with your video - but of course: the bitrate on the audio recorded in your camera/on your phone will be whatever you use on your camera/in your phone.
      Compared to what you get when you record from the dji mic 2 into a phone with bluetooth though the difference is huge, the internal quality is miles above what is being transmitter to the phone over bluetooth, which is why it’s such a bummer they disable the internal backup recording feature.
      Being able to sync by audio waveform using the phones internal mic for the video and sync’ing with the dji internal recording is of course possible, but kind of hard if you are far away from the camera recording and not able to record your voice with internal mic on the phone for syncing later.
      For my test I used the blackmagic camera app set to PCM audio 16bit - the internal recording on the DJI Mic 2 was set to 32bit Float.
      So in *theory* the internal recording should be «better», but for all practical purposes, for an average user it sounds pretty much the same, both on my headset and on my KRK 5 studio monitors going through a Volt 2 audio interface.
      The Internal backup recording on the DJI mic 2 *is* slightly lower in volume though, even with all gain settings (on the mic, on the receiver and in the blackmagic camera app) set to zero - I am guessing this audio level difference comes from the 32bit float on the internal recording and added headroom, but I don’t know for sure.
      If you are planning on doing some heavy manipulating of the audio the 32bit float might give you some more space to work with, but for most applications the difference is non-noticable.

      @@5MinutesHenry Hahaha, thanks ;)
      But, actually, I gotta correct you ;)
      You *don't* have connect the transmitter to the receiver to start internal recording on the DJI Mic.
      If you only turn on the Dji Mic 2 you can start the internal recording on the Mic with the red circle button, this works if only the mic is on *or* when it's connected to the receiver. But out of the box it "only" records in 24 bit, since 32bit float needs to be activated from the receiver (which is plenty good for most purposes).
      BUT: If you connect the Mic to a smartphone with *bluetooth* the internal recording function is disabled on the mic, which is a bummer.

      Hah, thanks :) Took a bit of work and trial and error to get it usable ;) but yeah, it’s a difficult decision - when the DJI Mic 2 released I watched all the big tubers do their «not sponsored (sponsored)»-reviews, with comparisons, and in every one of those videos the dji mic 2 sounded «duller»/more «muffled» than the røde wireless pro out of the box (with none of them commenting on it, just doing the «you decide what sounds best» … but I got the dji mic 2 since they had the cheaper option of 1 receiver + 1 transmitter, and I really needed a wireless option for some of my videos.
      The Røde Wireless Pro also need a bit of work from my understanding, have been thinking about renting a set for a day and record a bucketload of examples with different placements and all that.
      Since the Røde option includes the lavs as well that whole 2 + 1 package is a better deal dollar for dollar, *but* it is *way* more expensive in terms of how much you need to spend to get started with a wireless mic setup. And the Røde’s are a bit square and lumpy, but if using the lavs the shape/size doesn’t really matter that much. I’m probably getting a lav for it, either the dji if it comes in stock pretty soon, or the røde go lav (*not* spending over 100 usd on the røde pro lav), to see if it improves the initial recording :)

Even the type of clothing you are wearing could alter the characteristics of the recording with the same placement on your body, causing the preset to no longer «just work», but usually it’s close enough so minor adjustments will be enough.
      I will be going through all these scenarios in the followup video to this detailing as much as possible about what can be done making presets and things one should learn properly to solve issues when they appear :)

      Ooooooh, now that's an interesting question! But first, sorry for the late reply, thank you for taking the time to watch and commenting :)
      As for your question: the receiver will probably *not* solve that problem. The mic itself is OmniDirectional, picking up audio from all directions.
      The built in noise cancellation is *not* very good, so I would not recommend that - but rather look at noise cancellation / voice isolation in your editing software which has the - Davinci resolve has a good one (which is in the free version I think) - there are several free options online to test as well, Adobe has something for isolating speech which I think is free.
      You could also experiment with location on where you put the mic, and also look into getting the lav mic from either dji or røde, I'm getting the dji lav myself to test, it should be slightly more directional. You could also look into the Røde Videomic Go 2 which is way more directional, but of course that's mounted on top of the camera and not worn :/

    Hmmm..Thanks for confirming the Bluetooth connection is inferior. Just upgraded to the DJI Mic 2 from the Rode Wireless GO II and was wondering whether I should bother with Bluetooth.
    I am a bit confused about why you simply don't use it as a standalone recorder and not worry about Bluetooth or the receiver. Using the built-in audio on your smartphone or cameras gives you a scratch audio track. Syncing the separate audio file downloaded from the DJI (or any standalone pack recorder) takes just a single click in any decent NLE editor.
    I always use wireless mic with a Lav. Sound / voice pickup is determined by the lav and you can experiment with $20 cheap ones, standard $50 to $100 ones, or go for broke with $1000 lavs.
    Easy to clip the lav and keep the recorder in your pocket. you don't seem concerned about the visual of clipping the DJI on your shirt so a lav is even smaller. Personally, I hate the look of any microphone so I hide the lav (lot's of existing videos on how to do that without getting clothes rustle or noise and you can even hide it in your hat or hair.)
    Since you know how to do basic audio (EQ, cutoff filter, compression) standalone recording should be the obvious approach.
    Oh, and at least in the US, because of a patent thing, none of the (consumer/prosumer) wireless systems will transmit 32-bit. I wonder how many people are buying into the 32-bit craze and then just using it with Bluetooth or the matching receiver without realizing they are only getting 24-bit just like the older systems unless they use the standalone files?

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  21 день тому

      The short answer is that when I record using the mic 2 I film lots of shorter and longer sequences = loads of files and chaos, and I haven’t had time to look into how well davinci handles that - and ai know I’ll forget to press record on the mic at some point, and, yeah - having the audio and video in a file or files calms my brain ;)
      And yeah, there is at least someone out there thinking they are getting 32bit on their recordings on the phone and camera … will probably be a video on it at some point and how useful it is or isn’t :) Looking into testing lav at some point indeed, a little further down the road :)

    • @RobSpiv
      @RobSpiv 21 день тому +1

      @@AndreSjoberg For me, I'm paranoid about not pressing record on the camera or mic, so I configured the DJI to automatically start recording when powered on, and to lock-out the buttons so you can't press a button and pause the recording by mistake.
      Plenty of recording and battery time, and skipping over empty space in the audio track isn't hard and much better than having no audio by mistake.
      For editing, I just load up all the tracks into one timeline, sync up the audio. (I think pros call it a 'stringout' of the 'dailys'). After that, I lock the audio to video track and then chop up into smaller sequences and save them out separately if they aren't all part of one recording session/final edit.
      From there, normal editing workflow continues without any special handling.
      I did consider buying only the DJI Mic's and not the receiver or case, but some settings can only be done if you have the receiver and the combo case/charger is a lot simply than juggling a la carte charging cables and storage bag/charger stuff.

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  21 день тому

      @ Smart move :) I’m using Davinci’s source tape feature in the cut page, so the workflow for me is dumping footage in, and scrolling through and choosing the bits I want to insert into the edit, after using transcribe to cut out the parts I don’t want - so spending any time before that cutting and sync’ing and stuff with separate files would only add a lot of work for almost no gain, so that’s why I’m hesitant to add more work to the workflow since doing it this way is plenty fast. And when I’m recording indoors with a locked off camera but me moving around I’m using the receiver for the mic 2 connected to my phone so it’s not really a hassle - it’s only when I’m out and about I wish the mic could have been recording proper quality into the phone, but when I’m out I just use it as you describe, record internally and sync it in post :)

It *is* possible to get good audio, but it does require some testing in terms of placement. And just to make sure: are you using it with the receiver, or connected directly via bluetooth to a phone?
      Another thing to be aware of is that using it in a badly soundtreated room/echoey room might make the mic sound worse than it really is - you can try as an experiment hanging a blanket behind the camera to catch some of the audio waves from you, stopping them slightly from returning into the mic making the sound «hollow» and echoey … let me know and let’s see if we can improve things a little bit :)

      That is a very good question :) It is also a difficult question, microphones sound different for different type of voices, a bright voice might sound good on a Dji Mic 2 without EQ, my voice is a bit darker so I need to EQ it a bit. There is also the question of what is «good sounding», for some people the Dji mic 2 sounds good, for an audio person it might not sound too good, but good related to the price. From the examples I’ve heard on youtube the Røde Wireless Pro sounds a bit brighter (which for my voice is «better» without any EQ on it). But the Røde is more money, but it comes with 2 mics and two Lavs (a small microphone you attach to the transmitter that is less visible if you are in front of the camera talking and presenting). The Dji Mic 2 comes in a version with only one mic (a lot cheaper than røde) and no lav, which you have to buy separately. So the dji package is less money, but the røde is more value for money. I have also heard good audio examples from the Hollyland Lark M2 which is even cheaper than the dji package, and it comes with 2 mics - it does however not have internal recording if that is something you want/need (for recording backup audio on the mic itself if the main audio fails).
      All of these options give you relatively good audio, but you *have* to experiment a little bit with placement of the mic - it’s one of those harsh lessons all beginners learn: almost nothing is perfect out of the box, one *has* to learn things, like EQ, if one wants better results, or improve on things, over time.
      I can get pretty good results with the Dji Mic 2 now (transmitter/receiver combo), using a phone, no extra gain - but they are better after I’ve learned to do a little EQ on the recordings, which is why there are such things as audio professionals and engineers who can get great results ;)
      My guess is that any of the wireless mic’s I’ve mentioned should give you relatively good results, especially if you spend a little time watching a couple of youtube videos on EQ as well, and better than just using the phone microphone :)

    Haha, "elbow greese" sounded great as the amount of work needed... I've got this mic with the DJI Pocket3 Creator pack and yeah, it's not impressive grabbing from the chest. I've tried placing it higher upp under the chin and it was better. Still I needed EQ-ing and Compression. To be honest I don't have anything else to compare it to but my old Røde lavalier Film Maker Kit system. That one always gave some hum I needed to work with but it was OK. I still use it for client videos and take help from Final Cut Pros voice isolation at 30-40%, makes wonders.... Hey, I love it on your cap!!!!

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching :)
      Yeah, it took a bit of work and googling to refresh my memory on the basics of eq’ing voices as a starting point since this is a bit of an extreme scenario, as well as not only figuring out the compressor settings to *not* sound like it’s brickwalling.
      At the same time I started looking into maximising the audio output to hit close the UA-cam-max settings of around -14db lufs and the -1 peak, so that took some trial and error, or «vigorous polishing and cleaning» as is the definition of elbow grease ;)
      The cap audio surprised me as well, putting it at my neckline/close to my throat gave it a lot more proximity effect/guttural sound, which needed even more eq’ing. I might just rent a Røde Wireless Pro for a day to record and compare, just to see how it handles my voice, since the examples I’ve heard gives the røde the edge, but at the same time the dji mic examples untreated hasn’t been as bad as my raw audio, so I’m guessing the røde might struggle with my voice as well - will probably be a video about it in a months time if I do :)

    Why would you need bluetooth if you can record directly to mic though?
    EQ and Compression is like 5 minutes learn for beginners.

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  6 місяців тому

      Because with bluetooth connection the audio would be recorded directly to the video, eliminating having to transfer the audio from the mic to the pc/mac and then sync that audio to the video track, which is steps that take longer. If one only has 1 video file and 1 audio file it’s not a big deal, but if you have 50 takes and 50 audiofiles to sort through, match up and sync it’s a totally different matter.
      Also, by being able to record proper audio to the video track by bluetooth you can then use the internal recording as a backup if something went wrong with the direct to video track audio - by having only the internal recording you don’t have a fail safe.
      As for compression and eq: yes, it is simple once you understand the basics, but understanding the basics is not always easy if the users brain doesn’t understand that eq and compression is two different forms of audio level adjustments, one for separate frequencies, and the other for levels in a recording relative to each other - to make it even more confusing there is also multiband compressors that compress based on frequencies.
      If you are one of the lucky ones that grasped all of that in 5 minutes the first time you looked at it good for you, then this video clearly isn’t for you, since this is a video for those who haven’t understood the concept and how it applies to audio that f.ex sounds muffled or muddy :)

    Dude…you are the ONLY person who has covered some of the topics in this video! I absolutely HATE when I see reviewers holding the mic right in front of their face to show the sound. That defeats the entire purpose of the mic! I ended up selling my mic 2 because I didn’t want to bother with EQing every time (I edit everything on my phone). So, I ended up buying the version 1 mic and with it connected at chest height vs the mic 2, the mic 1 is vastly better.

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg  7 місяців тому +1

      thanks :) yeah, not many talk about this, I’m probably not gonna get any sponsorship requests from Dji based on this down the line ;)
      I have done some additional testing and experimented a *lot* with mic placement after filming this video so there will be a big followup, hopefully with some tricks on how to avoid having to EQ too much, and also focusing on finding a repeatable placement of the mic for predictable results so EQ’ing will be pretty much a basic preset I can apply for my voice at least.
      I think the «problem» with the Dji Mic 2 is that the mic membrane is «better» than the mic 1, as in it picks up more bass frequencies then the mic 1, which with some voices and placements means it gets kind of bass heavy/muffled, which again might explain why the high pass filter is on by default. Working on a followup covering *everything* I can think of, so stay tuned for that one and thanks for watching :)

      Hahahahaha, thanks :) Both for watching and taking the time to comment :) The space I'm in has *lots* of things in it, furniture, roller skates, gear, arcade machine/pinball, some furniture as well +++ and the mic works pretty well in there - haven't had time to try it outdoors properly yet, but will try to include some proper samples of outdoor recordings both from a trafficed area as well as in the woods nearby, also to see how well background noise can be removed in post :)
      If the Hohem you are using gives you better audio then by definition it's a better mic for you ;) To be fair, it's not that the DJI Mic 2 is a bad mic, *but* it does require a little work to make it sound it's best :) I'm guessing from what I've seen about the Hohem it doesn't have internal recording right? and also not Bluetooth Connectivity to smartphones? My guess is that part of it being cheaper is due to those features not being there. As for sounding better, it *could* be it sounds better if it doesn't capture as much bass as the DJI Mic 2 does, and that would make voices sound clearer - but that also depends on what audio gear/speakers you are listening too.
      But the most important part is that it sounds good to you with your voice, as long as that's the fact then it's a great mic for your use :)

      Hey man, no need for the salty language :) working on a proper video for this showing in detail how everyone can find good settings for their voice :) This video was more to show that it *is* possible to get good audio (since the previous video I did on this subject was a pretty harsh cut down of the dji mic 2) - I’m just a simple guy who tries to make videos on my spare time, but we’ll get there in the end :)
      But this is important:
      there is no *setting* that will work for everyone, because everyones voices occupies different parts of the spectrum - using the EQ and compressor to brighten the voice and level out the volume is the method, each person needs to experiment to find what eq settings will work with their specific voice.
      So the video coming up will be pointing people in the right direction and showing how, by cutting and boosting frequencies, they can get clearer and less muffled audio out of the dji mic 2.
      Knowing that eq and compression is the answer is enough for most people to start experimenting themselves, open up the eq, try to boost some frequencies, lower others - by trying and testing yourself you will be much better suited for solving similar audio issues down the line :) But if you *don’t* want to test it out yourself there eill be a video coming, hopefully in a couple of weeks, explaining the basics of how eq and compression works using the dji mic 2 as an example :)
