  • Redness and flushing from rosacea is best treated with a laser like pulse dye laser (PDL) vs light treatment like intense pulsed light (IPL). But which is better? In this complete Dermatologist guide to PDL vs IPL, I will not only discuss the pros and cons of each, but will actually treat each side of my face so that you can experience the difference.

    Did both. Asian+male+rosacea. IPL (m22) hurts more than PDL (vbeam).
    Assuming your doctor knows what he/she’s doing : IPL > PDL. Just because you can do so much more with the former. IPL does require more sessions. My dr recommended 3 PDLs vs 6 IPLs.

    Great video. If you argue that rosacea is a disease with your insurance company and don’t back down they should cover it. Insurance wants you to not be willing to put in the effort required to get things covered.

    Thank you for clearing up the difference between the two. I did great with a KTP laser but had a terrible reaction from IPL. I never knew that IPL was not a laser. I would like to try VBeam and thought my bad experience with IPL would count me out for any possible laser treatment in the future.

    Just had my 1st PDL today on cheeks, nose, & chin. It doesn’t feel like a snapping rubberband (that would be more painful). It felt more like this….take a boba straw diameter & blast extremely compressed air down the straw that is combined with a cooling fluid. I didn’t know the liquid was there until mentioned, but it did feel like that cool gel med for sore muscles. Upper cheekbones to sides & under nose more painful.

I saw a dermatologist and I’m on soolantra and an antibiotic however I was only on the antibiotic for a week and then had to stop because I am in a hot country. I will be back in a few days thank god but I really hope it will calm down as I have had a really bad flare up as it’s 40oc outside. I’m wearing sun cream all the time and wearing a big sun hat. The lasers will only help the redness and not the pimples. Generally first line for the pimples of rosacea is metronidazole cream, ivermectin cream or oral antibiotics

    • @tomcotter4299
      @tomcotter4299 5 місяців тому +2

      I have type 2 as well. Metro cream and a compound with metro cream, azelaic acid, and ivermectin worked well for me. Surprisingly, 0.025% tretinoin worked amazingly well for me. It even helps with the redness. It’s surprising because conventional wisdom is that retinols are too harsh for people with rosacea. But I found a study that showed good results for type 2 rosacea patients using the 0.025% and decided to give it a try, and it worked great.

      Mam my treatment is going on or the burning sensation or hot flashes have subsided up to 90%. The redness has also subsided up to 60-70% and the rest of the redness is due to telangiectasia but my dermatologist has said that it will remain permanent. If you try to remove it with a laser or an IPL, your face will appear so black that it will be almost impossible to treat.
